We went with a group of 9 on a busy Sunday morning & were pleasantly surprised by the good, quick service & the quality of the food. I had the chicken fried steak with gravy & had enough left over for supper that evening. It was one of the best I've ever had. The waitress (unable to remember her name) was very pleasant & patient with all of our questions & indecision. The ambiance was noisy & crowded but did not overall affect the experience of an excellent meal. We will be back! read more

Always good. We have been patronizing the Hudson Oaks R & K for 13 years and the meal we got today was the best yet. We got takeout. I go the Spanish omelette and my wife got the fried chicken. Both were great. Dessert has never been their strong point, but the raisin cookie today was really good. read more

Decent food at a decent price but will not return to the Hudson Oaks location. Waitress wearing a "make America great again " sweatshirt was something I can't support. Been to this location a handful of times. Normally get breakfast/brunch and it's average. Some of the sides are better than others but you can tell it's all made with love. I have been sitting in the back right corner and the server is awesome. Their locations have a small town vibe with an old soul. read more

We had lunch today after church. The restaurant was busy and we got a table as soon as we arrived. My wife had a chicken fried steak and I had a cheese omelette that came with hash browns and biscuits with gravy. All of the food was delicious. Hot and fresh and in spite of the busy situation our order was taken quickly and the good was served fast. The courtesy and hospitality was the best and the restaurant was kept clean as tables were cleaned quickly. This place was running fast and smooth. I really do not want to be picky but I will just point out a couple of things that were wrong and should not have been. The party of 4 was generally happy with the food. The issue came with me asking if they could add a few jalapeno slices to my taco salad. "Sure" was the correct answer. When I got the bill, she had added $1.00 for jalapenos. I could have been informed when I asked for it and maybe we could have exchanged some other ingredient to avoid the extra charge. Then my sister only got water with her meal and they added $2.50 for a drink. Had to have that charge removed at the register. I just thought all of this was unnecessary. I do highly recommend the food but just watch your bill. read more

R&K is good if you're in the mood for some country cooking. This place is old school, it's been there forever, and the clientele in there is a bunch of 50+ good ole boys. But I enjoy that kind of atmosphere. I went here for lunch, was sat immediately, and was greeted shortly thereafter by the server. She was fast and courteous. She took our order and the food came out 6 minutes later. The chicken fried steak was a nice size with fairly crunchy batter and smothered with cream gravy. It was good, but in my opinion could've used a little more seasoning. Mashed potatoes were pretty standard and of course were also smothered in gravy. The green beans were cooked with chunks of ham and the okra www pretty standard fried okra. Overall, a good meal. Don't bring your credit cards here, because R&K is cash only. read more

This is your basic small town mom-and-pop diner where everyone knows your name, the average patron is over 70, and prices haven't changed since the 1980s. If an entree with 3-sides and a bread roll for under $10 is what makes this a great dining spot for you and yours, this is the place. My CFS with cream gravy, mashed potatoes, fried okra and pinto beans (and a yeast roll) plus iced tea for $8.95 was on par with that price point. Staff are super friendly. We came across this cafe by chance when looking for some place for breakfast on our way to Abilene. It's quite inside from Interstate 20, so not much visible. Food: Overall, the food was good. Not so amazing but good enough to make a nice breakfast. However, the coffee didn't taste great and lacked the morning kick that normally coffees have at other breakfast places. We ordered Vegetable Omelette with hashbrowns and toast and a waffle. Omelette was nice, a little less on salt - we had to add salt and pepper. Hashbrowns were fine too. Toast was a little less toasted. Waffle was great. Ambiance: This place gives a real Texas feeling with it's interiors. You can see wall paintings of cowboys all over the place. The lighting is less for a breakfast place. Natural light is zero which doesn't really wake you up but puts you back to sleep. Service: Service was good. The lady perhaps quickly understood that we are the "no meat" people, so she suggested and clarified on the non-meat options for us, which was nice. Food came in quite quickly, so there wasn't much of a waiting time. Just one caveat, they don't accept credit cards, so you may carry cash or pull it out from an ATM outside. Overall, a nice place if you're tired and want to have a decent breakfast before you hit the road again. read more

They don't have real honey. Honey is not a sauce - it's made by real bees and those hard working little things need to get paid. Honey sauce doesn't even come close so pls pls pls R&K, be a real restaurant and provide real honey. R&K is ruining an otherwise good review by giving out fake honey.
