So you're looking for that small town cafe that everybody loves? This is it! We got there at 1:00 and it was still packed with a waiting list. After a 10 minute wait, we had a table and some tea. There a variety on the menu and the daily specials are on the chalk board. Entree, 3 sides, and a cookie for $12.99. Order up! We both had the chicken fry, with garden salad, macaroni salad and mashed potatoes for me. Delicious! I'm picky about chicken fried steak and macaroni salad, and both were winners! We had an early appointment in Weatherford today, and afterwards went for breakfast. R&K was close to our location, we hadn't been before, and the reviews looked good. For a weekday, they seemed busy. Now we know why. Food and service were very good. Thúy's Breakfast Special #2, French toast, 2 eggs & 2 pieces of bacon, was very tasty. My "Big Ol' Breakfast burrito" (see pictures) was freakin' amazing. I don't know what they do this this thing, and I kid you not, it was the best breakfast burrito I have ever eaten! So R&K seems to have a very regular crowd. Many customers were greeted by name, others ordered without looking at the menu. Speaking of menu, the Specials board featured many tasty items, but what really got my interest was the Chicken Livers. Yum. We hope to make it back soon. read more

We were there on Sun morning and it wasn't busy by the time we were seated. There was a wait but the larger groups left. The service wasn't great. She didn't confirm we all had silverware and left no extra napkins. Food preparation was worse and incorrect. Received order of toast ane biscuits and gravy that weren't ordered. Another 10 min passed, still no breakfast. Asked the manager - assumingly as she had a headset and was just walking around - and she came back and said, no joke, "we're still waiting for it to come out of the kitchen". Trying to be nice, but obviously! Pancakes were burned on the bottom, bacon was barely red, and the coffee tasted like it had been watered down. We had to get up and ask for napkins and these were no kidding, counted by the guy that handed them out. 3...for a table of 8.‍ I'd advise on a different restaurant. Also, don't sit under the air ducts, as they drip water every 45 sec or so. read more

The food was very good, I got Barry's big breakfast plate. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the ham, hash browns, and sausage patty were all great! Our server kept our drinks full and checked in at all the right moments. The ambiance was pretty good, felt like a homemade rustic place. My only complaint was the bacon which tasted really smoky. This is our favorite location for R & K II my husband discovered their catfish served Friday and Saturdays. It is lightly coated and is delicious the best he has had .....it comes with three sides. Stopped by this cafe on a whim, there was about a 7 min wait to be seated so not bad. Our waitress was friendly but also overwhelmed and tired. We started with an order of fried pickles as our app but it was entirely too salty. The rest of the food was great! The chicken was crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked and moist on the inside. The servings are large enough for lunch and dinner! We had lunch here yesterday and food is Ok but not to write home about . Waitress nice but got snappy over chips and basically called my grandson a liar . Dessert was a brownie and mine was so hard you couldn't hardly break it . Then as we were leaving I saw on table by door a tray with chocolate pudding on it and half uncovered . I just hope they didn't feed it to anyone as it looked like someone stuck their finger in it . Oh and it's cash or check only but they do have a atm at front door. read more

Casual southern/country food with friendly wait staff. The wait staff doesn't turn over much so you can tell they are dedicated to their jobs. It's a very Texan/western kind of place that I would describe as "down home". It gets busy, but they work fast to get you a table. They have a daily menu that you can check on Facebook before you go, or it's written on chalk boards on the wall. Otherwise they have a full menu you can order from any time, including breakfast. They do take credit/debit, unlike the other location in Hudson Oaks, but they add a service fee to your check if you use one. It's not a big deal. I recommend their pancakes, fried catfish, burgers and fries (if you like well done burgers) and their Sunday chicken and dressing special. They are also good at getting eggs cooked to order just right. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that sometimes the biscuits or rolls can get a little hard, and the tables sometimes aren't even and wobble. But this doesn't stop me from coming in regularly. read more

Walked in the door at 7:25. Asked the hostess sitting by the door what time they closed. She was very rude, rolled her eyes and said, "well, you can eat if you hurry." I ate lunch there recently. The cashier was extremely rude! She asked me why my ticket was only 4.75 and I told her that is what the waitress charged me for two sides that I ordered. In a very loud voice she yelled , the tickets wrong! you are coming out smelling like a rose! The restaurant was crowded and people started staring. I told her I would pay whatever I needed to pay. she did not change the ticket. I paid with a card and put the tip on the card. I asked if I could take the tip and pay the waitress. once again in a very loud voice, she yelled ,"as God is my witness, I am not stealing the waitress's tip! you cannot take it to her. Stopped and took a shot in the dark as I have never been through this way when travelling. Visited R&K Cafe and was pleasantly shocked with the service and the food. Ordering was easy and the waitress was very nice. Food came out quickly and was fantastic! Biscuit with gravy, fried eggs and hashbrown and it was all on point! There are 3 cafes. One off Santa Fe is not so good. The food was mediocre at best. Bland and such. Interior need a make over. It's dirty. Parking is terrible to say the least. Tried it twice because everyone has a bad day here and there. Nope. It was the same. One in Hudson Oaks is good. Clean and food comes out hot!! Weatherford one off FTW Highway haven't tried yet. The food was typical diner, waitress was kind, but when I went to pay I asked if they offered a military discount. The lady at the register got rude and said they don't and never have. She went on like I was out of line for asking. Soon another lady comes over, turns out it's her mother, and begins to chew my ear about not being able to afford to offer a discount. Good food and service. We are here usually once a week. Love their dressing, it's really close to being Southern.

Delicious home cooking, we are usually there at least once or twice a week for breakfast. The wait staff is excellent, friendly and attentive. We do not give it 5 stars because the cashiers are extremely rude. Every time we check out, there is no please or thank you, they hurry you through the process and act as if they are put out by doing their job. It's a shame since after a good experience this is the last interaction a customer will remember. Those ladies need an attitude adjustment. read more

Really fresh eggs and great bacon. Like really great bacon. And I've cooked a lot of bacon over 40 years. Gracious Texas southern hospitality so come with your manners and you'll be doted on. Biscuits are the star of breakfast I'm sure but I saw an omelet bigger than my head so I'm willin' to bet they are yummy, too. I really wanted lunch once I saw the lunch plates. We have been long time customers. It was a slow day when we arrived. It took a little while for our order to be taken. But the waitress brought our salads right away. We ordered the catfish plate & a all you can eat catfish. The entrees came out right after our salads were served. The fish looked nice but was cold. My baked potato barely warm, cold by the time I put warm butter on it. The sour cream ran liquid when I opened it. My husband's veggie were just warm. At that point we were going to pay for the salad & veggies then leave. Our server asked if she could please get us some fresh fish & a potatoe. So we agreed. She tried but the fish never came out of the kitchen. All the time we were there, it sounded like a party was going on in the kitchen. The server finally came & got our ticket, I assume spoke to management came back & told us the ticket was taken care of, on the house. In a little bit the cashier came over said what about $10.& change. I told her what we were told & she said she doesn't have the authority & you ate the salad & veggies. I told her we ate the food expecting to be served the remainder of our dinner & in this situation I didn't feel we owed it. We have been eating at this R & K location since 2007. I've been disappointed a few times but nothing like today. The manager told me take my business elsewhere. Mediocre food that is cheap but just not worth putting up with the rude old hags that are serving tables there. Honestly...the service really ruins the place. We were told by our waitress while ordering that she didn't have all day (we're not slow) and she scowled anytime we asked for more coffee or for items she forgot to bring to the table. It still has a smoking section that fills the entire place with a surety haze of cigarette smoke. The food is not much better. The bacon has a strange metallic flavor, the coffee is weak and in general nothing tastes fresh. Cheap perhaps but not a good value. Skip this place. read more

As advertised, R & K Cafe is the real deal. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast with two eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy all for $8.99. WOW that was a lot of food but none went to waste!!! I must rave about the chicken fried steak though. It was hand breaded and comes with a cup of gravy!!! If you are in Weatherford, TX you must stop here to eat. Plus it's only a couple blocks from the very old courthouse. Bonus. read more
