Getting a quote was easy and Marcos made scheduling the initial consultation and assessment super easy. He came to my apartment on-time and went through everything in detail. He carefully inspected all of the damage and walked me through what his thoughts were and assured me that he will document everything thoroughly so that the insurance companies will have more than enough information to accurately assess my costs. Based on the initial consultation, I thought this would easily clear $15,000, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that we came in under $12,000, especially for the amount of work that I was looking at. The quotes were also very detailed, breaking down each cost for the spaces I needed repaired. I was provided PDFs of these quotes for my own records and when it came time to pay, I was able to pay in parts when each part of the job began. Marcos and his team were also very patient with my work and travel schedules, always coordinating with me to make sure things were done not only in a timely manner, but in proper sequence and done thoroughly. Throughout the whole process, Marcos was kind, knowledgable, communicative, professional, and understanding. I was originally afraid that there was extensive damage to my unit because of how everything appeared on the outside, especially because of water in my circuit breaker. But Kory, the guy who was in charge of making sure all the moisture and mold was taken care of, not only gave me a very clear and easy to understand explanation of all the damage, but he actually was able to show me that the damage to my wall was significantly less worse than what we thought. I expected to lose my cabinets but thanks to Kory, I was able to keep them! He also made sure that a thorough job was done to dry out my apartment so the insurance company would see that we did things exactly by the book and that the water mitigation was thorough. He was incredibly nice, professional, and trustworthy. After Kory, Francisco their drywall specialist came in and did a quick and thorough job of repairing and replacing the drywall that did receive damage. Scheduling time with them was easy thanks to Marcos and Francisco arrived in a timely manner, once again making it easy for me on my tough work schedule. I received drywall work that was even better than what I originally had which was great. Francisco was efficient, professional, and did a excellent job. Finally, Leo, the flooring guy came in with another employee and did an incredible job with my flooring. Marcos provided resources to help me choose new flooring, which was done at H&C Flooring in Kalihi. Sophia was very helpful in recommending good colors and material. Once that was done, Leo did an excellent job communicating all of his work and showing me what was done and what still needed to be done. A big thank you to him as well for putting up with the amount of stuff that I had in the apartment still and moving it all around to do the flooring. He even came in on a Sunday to make good progress on finishing the flooring! Leo was incredibly thorough, professional, kind, and I really appreciated his work. Overall, my experience with Hawaii Water Damage Restorartion was excellent. Marcos, Kory, Francisco, Leo and the rest of the team were great to work with and incredibly professional. I truly appreciated their attention to detail, patience with my situation, and really making sure that I had what I needed for insurance purposes. Dee and Jacob were efficient in the demo process and manager Rey came by to make sure everything was running smoothly. Renaldo came by the next morning and started working on the reconstruction of the ceiling and boy we gotta say that he's a true professional!! Last week, I reached out to the company regarding a water leak issue and explained our situation. The customer service representative was very accommodating--she took my information and advised that a project manager would be in touch. I didn't have to wait long at all. PM Andy called me shortly after and scheduled an immediate inspection of our home. Although Andy could have scheduled us for a later date, he sensed the urgency of our situation and was kind enough to work around my availability. He came first thing in the morning shortly after our initial call. I was extremely impressed and grateful for the company's fast response. Andy kept an open line of communication, patiently answering all our questions and guiding us on next steps while we were completely clueless about the process. Today, I wasn't expecting another call from MD Restoration, but my husband had been in contact with Andy, who helped us get the dehumidifier scheduled. Around a little past 3 p.m., Yonell called me. I missed her first call, but she left a voicemail and followed up just minutes later. When I answered, Yonell was truly a breath of fresh air. After a long workday, her jolly and upbeat personality helped me de-stress immediately. Even though it was near the end of the day, she was still lively, positive, and a pleasure to speak with. She promptly scheduled herself and her team to come out right away with the necessary equipment for dehumidification of our Mikasa. Yonell arrived exactly as scheduled, and she and her partner completed their tasks efficiently. Estimates took over three months to calculate for a small apartment bathroom, which I suspect was nothing more than them dilly dallying as they immediately started when our manager sent them a strongly worded letter. There was a leak from the unit above, and the unit called this establishment. The unit's bathroom toilet pipe had been leaking and seeped into the walls and cabinets with mold starting to grow. Rescue One advised us not to remove the cabinets, so we left them on. Repair didn't start until THREE MONTHS LATER. They kept making excuses about how they were calculating stuff, etc... and we still had moldy cabinets on the walls, drenched in sewer water. Repairs finally began and they dropped the drywall they brought in, which broke. They tried to cover it up and told us that nothing was wrong when we asked. They left scratches on the walls, chips around the door frames, bathtub, and bathroom. They also installed the toilet bowl incorrectly, and the person surveying it looked annoyed when we mentioned it to them. They told us that the toilet roll holder was salvageable but the cabinets were not, so we bought a new cabinet but not a toilet roll holder. When everything was finished, we realized that they had silently replaced the old toilet roll holders with some cheap ones (which they later charged us for), which were placed so high up because the repairman was over six feet tall and didn't think to ask us (5 feet people) where we wanted it to be. When I sat on the toilet, the holder came up to my HEAD. The medicine cabinet was also placed too high (and crooked). We could hardly see our head in the mirror from how high they placed it and we had to ask that they redo it, which they looked extremely irritated and annoyed at. However, it was the repairman who came in and did everything without ever asking us about it, so whose fault was that, really?

    Careless Work After Asbestos Removal -- Damaged My Renovated Home…read more I hired this company for asbestos removal. The ceiling removal and painting were done well, but everything else was handled with no care at all. My home was fully renovated before the project, and now I'm left with damages everywhere. The walls near the ceiling were scratched, and they tried to cover it up with paint that's a different shade of white, which made it even more noticeable. My door is chipped, and they stapled into my wood floors without removing the staples. The bathtub coating is peeling and chipped in multiple spots (see photos). It was in perfect condition before, so it's clear they didn't protect the area during the work. I've already spent 6 hours just touching up the walls, and I still haven't even started fixing the bathtub damage. For a company dealing with something as sensitive as asbestos, I expected professionalism and care -- instead, I'm left with frustration and extra work. I would only recommend this company if you don't care about anything else except the one thing you hired them for. Otherwise, be prepared to spend your own time fixing the mess they leave behind.

We did request estimates from other abatement contractors. Although Kapili did not have the lowest estimate, they were competitive and stayed in close contact with us throughout the entire process before we made our decision. What made them stand out was their genuine concern to help us. We negotiated a fair price that was a "win-win" for both sides. Kapili initially gave us a 4 to 5 day removal time. To our surprise, he and his crew completed the removal in 2 days. We received our clearance by an independent lab after the 2nd day. All in all, we were very pleased with the service provided by Kapili's company. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking to test and remove abestos from their home.

First Onsite failed that test spectacularly. They tore a big piece out of our wall, did tests that determined there actually was no mold or water damage issues after all, and then promptly disappeared. Over a month later, we still have a hole in our bathroom wall, all our toiletries in a wagon and everything formerly on the wall still cluttering up our bedroom. First Onsite has not only disappeared, they've refused to give us a copy of the test results saying there is no damage or to even give us an estimate to fix the wall. It's been over a month of ghosting us, not returning calls, repeatedly not giving us anything we've asked for and never giving us a straight answer once we do manage to get someone on the phone. Read some of the highlights of an email I finally sent after both my wife and I got fed up. Then decide if this is who you want for your next job. EMAIL HIGHLIGHTS: Dealing with First Onsite has been easily one of the most unprofessional experiences we've ever had. You are also the most unresponsive company we've dealt with as well. - JUNE 8th Carlton has told me a few days before that the team will be coming in, but presented this to me as a visit for them to figure out what they would do and where. That's it. The men show up and tell me, No, we're tearing out the wall today. News to me. - A few days later the testing team comes in and gives me good news. There's no mold issues or water damage. All that's needed now is to put drywall back up. I tell them that I would like a copy of the test results saying that it's all good. I'm assuming, wrongly, that I will be hearing from First Onsite soon about doing restoring the wall and getting us the test results. That was a month ago and neither has happened and both my wife & I have experienced nothing but evasion and outright ghosting. - I left Carlton a VM asking him for an estimate and a copy of the test results at least 3 weeks ago, after not getting anything I requested the week before. He never called me back. I had to follow up with Carlton again after a week of waiting for him to get back to me. When I did get Carlton on the phone, he wouldn't give me a straight answer on the results or the estimate and said he would get back to me. That never happened. - WEEK OF JUNE 30th Carlton went on vacation, leaving no instructions to his team about our bathroom. My wife made repeated calls to him, only finding out by accident that he was 'out of the country'. She couldn't get response from the First Onsite office so she finally called the Mainland corporate number and was given several names to try. She then was told to text to Bryan photos and measurements of the wall opening. An estimate was promised to be delivered to her Friday. Nothing ever came. - WEEK OF JULY 6th Finally, I got an email from 'Scott' on Monday, July 6th saying he could do the drywall possibly on Tuesday. I called Scott and told him, again, no work until I got the estimate and the test results and that I wanted both today. Scott said he would tell Carlton. Carlton finally sent an email around 2PM, but not because of my request. He replied to our building manager who contacted him. He never acknowledged anything in his email that I told Scott, just saying he was 'working on the estimate'. After a month has gone by. And not a word about the test results. When someone refuses to give you an estimate on some drywall work or let you have a copy of test results, that raises a lot of red flags. - Your initial $12,000+ estimate raised our insurance by $100/Month, despite the fact that there is nothing to clean up. Even with that cost of living raise you created, we've had to notify our insurance company that we're returning the check due to the initial tests being wrong. So all we've gotten out of dealing with First Onsite was a bigger bill every month from now on.
