The Baseline: For a Cajun Casual Dining establishment the creole flavors must be represented, there must be cajun offerings to the restaurant, and the experience must be true to the spirit of a the Cajun culture. Food: You will get fed at R&O! The portions are sizable and the flavors are there. The PoBoy is the really good go-to sandwich for R&O but also the Muffaletta is about 2-3 meals if you order the full. They are not messin' around on sandwiches at R&O. The onion rings are a good, tasty fried appetizer but it is a mound of onion and batter. All in all this is a great lunch spot with a good way not to ever walk away hungry. Service: Southern hospitality on steroids. Had a great experience with our waiter and all the staff. Kept my water and soda refilled. Ambiance: No frills, no muss, no fuss. This is a great sit down casual restaurant that is clean and up-kept. Clean bathroom and easy parking.

Lovely Louisiana Italian food. Service is friendly, but be warned they are always busy so be patient. The vibe gives 90's restaurant on the bayou, where you will run into someone you know that will ask about "hows ya mom an dem." Very old school restaurant but delicious seafood and Italian dishes.

R & O Restaurant is a pretty solid choice for a meal. The ambiance is bright and while it isn't fancy,it is overall pleasant. My server was friendly and helpful. I went with the R & O Special po' boy. It was a good choice. Next time, I think that I will try their veal parmigiana. I was there on a Sunday and the place was packed. People definitely know this is a great choice. I would definitely recommend here.

The pizza and the muffuletta were the bomb. Our server was perfect. The ambiance is a bunch of tables. But when you see all these "Times-Picayune awards for #1 roast beef"- I didn't even think when "the roast beef tastes like Worcestershire sauce" was mentioned. I said you could eat the: bread, tomatoes, mayo, and lettuce and it would taste better than Dinty Moore with Worcestershire sauce. It seems to be a common method like these new burger places. Bandwagon and propaganda. The roast beef even makes "short stop" look good. Roast beef is exactly that-roasted beef.

Super casual restaurant only open 3 hours at time. Priced fair food. Portions are huge. We ordered the fries as the sandwiches are à la carte. But the onion rings looked amazing. The shrimp po' boy had a ton of shrimp and cooked perfect crispy. My mom has been on mission to find a good roast beef po' boy and 3 people recommended this place. She was not disappointed and raved about the sandwich all weekend I was there.

Amazing place...old school NOLA Italian and Seafood restaurant...a locals place. Great old style Nola hand made "greasy pizza"...just the right way. Come often enough, be a regular, I feel like "Norm" here, haha

Fantastic food and service. A New Orleans mainstay that you have to try at least once. Of course get the fries and a large roast beef poboy. Simply the best.

When I tell you my stomach is on full full, chile I mean it! Went here with the office and we were extremely satisfied! You feel at home from the moment you walk in til when you leave. Wait staff and manager (David & Ashley) were the best! Y'all know I had to try the roast beef poboy that Mr.Chime Time from TikTok recommended and babeeeeeee it did not disappoint! That thang was full of flavor and the French bread was nice and toasty and just enough bread! The crab claws were piping hot and tasty! Onion rings made to perfection, no sauce needed! I will definitely be bringing the family!

Never miss this place when we're in the city. Highlights are Italian salad, boiled shrimp, and R&O Special poboy.

The service is decent, but the real star here is the food. I went with gumbo and boudin balls and both were very good. I went with the half oyster po-boy and gumbo combo. The sandwich turned out pretty well, with a good amount of fried oysters that were clearly cooked fresh rather than sitting for a while. Pretty good bread too. The gumbo was a disappointment though. I guess I've spent too much time on the bayou down through the years, because anytime a bowl of gumbo shows up without a scoop of potato salad in it I'm disappointed. Worse still, this gumbo was flavorless, bland and completely lacking of spice. Were it not for the dark color, I would have not been able to tell the difference between this and the sort of store-bought gumbo that comes from a can. The server kept an eye on me and my drink of choice, so props for that. Also, beware going to the restroom here, as the door doesn't seem to lock.

Ordered 1/2 doz chargrilled oysters and the meat pies. For some reason I did not realized the meat pies had ground beef in them; I remembered a different flavor profile. They were good but won't order them again; too many other choices. Chargrilled oysters, on the other hand, is now on my SIL's list of top fav foods. I usually eat mine raw, but these were not too salted and not overcooked. Good job, ACME! SIL ordered the 1/2 shrimp po boy, which was on her hit list of foods for the trip and I had the 1/2 hot sausage patty po boy. Both of us had the jambalaya, which was tasty but not overpowering. Her po boy was loaded with shrimp and I had her try my po boy, since she had never heard of the hot sausage. It was a winner with her as well! We had leftovers, of course. Things were hopping by the time we finished, and it was a bit to get our to go boxes, drink refills and check out, but we'd go back in a heartbeat.

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Overall, this is one of those restaurants that feels genuinely loved by locals and absolutely worth visiting if you're traveling through the New Orleans area.

My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.
