When I first walked in to this restaurant with my wife I got classic vibes. The shop is definitely a little outdated as far as the Aesthetics go. At the same time it kind of brings that Nostalgia back to what restaurants were like growing up. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They were very friendly and kind. Very approachable makes me want to stay for more food. We went on a Sunday so there was a special going on two hot dogs for $3. It was definitely a great deal. The place used to be good 25 years ago. Now they constantly get my order wrong so I stopped going. There seems to be a language barrier.

Been going here for years but they have been steadily growing down hill. Today I placed my lunch order right when they opened. They repeated my order back to me correctly. I get my order so back to work and open it's wrong. I go back and she confirms it was not correct as she remembers what I ordered. The two employees spend 5 minutes arguing about who got it wrong. They remake orders no apology to speak of. People can make mistakes but this is the third time in the last few months this has happened. An absolute staple of Lake Villa. Long time owners have kept the food fresh and reasonably priced. Never mind the old and outdated look of the inside. You're here for the food! So I go to this restaurant weekly. It's sometimes more then once a week(like this week I went on Monday and today Saturday). Here's the point I just called to let them know that after picking up our food we were disappointed they changed the polishes. They are waaaay smaller and the quality is definitely cheaper. The guy that answered was extremely rude, to the point that he hung up on me. Horrible that in a suburb like lake villa we'd have to deal with such ignorance. We live in walking distance from here but we will happily drive to Sammies at 216 N Milwaukee from here on out and I suggest you do the same the food is delicious and the customer service is just as good! It's a shame that his nasty attitude mattered to him more than regular patrons. I told him all you had to say was "okay I hear ya and I'm sorry about that" that's when he hung up, I'm all about being understanding (like if he was having a bad day or something) but he lied to and said he just got there and didn't know what I was talking about lol no accountability. I really try to be lenient for small shops with hot dogs, burgers etc. but can't really do that for this one. Sunday is 99 cent hot dog day, it was pretty good. We ordered cheese fries, they were clearly from frozen, barely cooked and loaded with diluted watery cheese. Really not good at all. We also got 2 burgers, measly toppings, and the meat tasted very strongly of "liquid smoke". The buns were decent quality but the bottoms were cold while the tops had been warmed. Warming the bottom buns would have enhanced the burgers. Not sure if it is technique they are missing or what. Many other better options within a few minutes. I told them absloutely not called grub hub and cancelled it!! And the driver was still 20 -30 minutes out!! Usually if I have nothing good to say I just never go there again, however after noticing the food quality going down and prices going up I had to leave a review after today. Me and my daughter stopped today and got a couple hot dogs and some tacos. my tacos were so small and didn't taste right, my daughters hot dog buns had mold on them, I brought back up to the counter and quietly showed the cashier. They made some new ones and brought them back to the table and surprise these buns had mold too. I just took the tacos and threw in garbage and gave him back the hotdogs and left. Try the steak tacos! Went here on a whim wanting something quick and we happened to catch the red light at the intersection. Saw they has steak tacos and figured we'd try them. They were amazingly delicious! Got a side of Orion rungs too which were perfectly cooked.
