My personal favorite was the black beans! The agedashi tofu was okay. While it was good, it wasn't what I expected at all. I'm used to agedashi being made with silken tofu or at least softer tofu. But it had a spongy chew to it. The fried pork belly was good. Or the fatty pieces were good. But the meat parts were just too hard and dried out. The wings were really good though! I do wish it was a little spicier, but it was crispy and meaty and just good! And the odeng soup was really good and homey. The broth was both light and rich. Excited to be here after so long! The good news is that nothing has changed since our last visit here. The ambience is still rustic, but clean. If you are looking for good Korean food at a very reasonable price, this is where you should be . They still have their all you can eat dinners, but as I have grown older, I think the à la carte menu suits me better . We have been here a couple of times recently. Once we tried out the order you can eat and the second time around we ordered the other cut menu. Our favorites are the pork belly, the Kalbi and the spicy Pok dinner. My husband and I have been on a mission to try all the Korean BBQ places in South Florida. But that may take us a while. Anyway, we tried R.O.K. last Friday night. It's in a strip mall, so no problems with parking. The place isn't very large but it's a decent size. We got there around 7:30 (they open at 5 p.m.) and didn't have a problem getting a table. A bit later, folks were waiting. And the place seems to be run by just two people. (There may be a chef hidden in back.) And it got crowded and both servers were very rushed. Nevertheless, service was still good even if we had to raise our hands a few times to get some attention. We ordered the all you can eat BBQ with five meats: pork belly, spicy pork, beef ribs, chicken, and beef bulgogi. It's $32 each (despite what the website says) plus tax and tip. The side dishes were scant. We got kimchi (that did not look good nor taste good, as if it was from the bottom of the jar), spicy cucumbers, fish cakes, marinated bean sprouts, raw onions with soy sauce, a lettuce salad with a delicious ginger dressing, sweet black beans, white rice, and the best item of all, Korean miso soup (with tofu and zucchini). With all the Korean food we eat and have eaten (we visited Korea in 2005), I have never had this kind of soup. I thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy zucchini and the firm tofu in the hot and spicy broth. I was looking forward to more sides, maybe a pancake, and some sort of dessert? Now to the proteins. We were two people and the servers brought out 3 generously filled platters with the 5 kinds. The galbi (beef ribs) were a bit charred. The sauce on the spicy pork was chalky and the bulgogi was a tad overdone. The pork belly was done just right, but had no flavor. It seemed to lack seasoning. The chicken (also overdone) was good. It, along with the the charred galbi, were my favorites. I wonder if it would be possible to tell them how we wanted our meats cooked without sacrificing the Korean experience. We were stuffed but hubby had to have more galbi. We worried about not finishing the spicy pork and bulgogi (there is a charge for leftovers) but nothing was said, we were not charged, and we got our extra order of beef ribs. The restaurant also has an ala carte menu with lots of offerings. I think next time I may try some traditional dishes (jap chae, bi bim bap) and a seafood pancake and skip the BBQ buffet. R.O.K is a great late night restaurant if your a night owl like me. My favorite part about this restaurant is that they offer a combo of 2 meats for you to choose from within reasonable price. My new favorite at this place is the fried gizzards. There's this delicious light crispyness to the batter that makes them super addicting. I could eat a huge bucket of just this if they had it. The chicken karaage is flavorful and has great presentation. The only thing that I would mention is that the fishcake soup is on the salty side. I've tried their other soups before and its not really on my top places for soups or stews. But everything else is wonderful! The banchan is great.. I love all of them. Of the two Korean BBQ Ayce in the area (this one and Chow One), this one was by far my favorite. Chow One looks more impressive and allows you to cook your own food, but ROK simply was just better and the service could it have been more attentive. The Kalbi was excellent as it always is, but the other selections are where they shine. The Spicy Pork, Bulgogi, and chicken were simply excellent. The food arrives, we eat, and everything was delicious until the teapot and cups arrived for the hot tea. Inside of the cup was a small German ROACH and another one crawling on the outside of the cup and onto the table. As soon as I saw that, I lost my appetite and had to leave. As much as I am understanding of certain circumstances, ROACHES are absolutely unacceptable and small German ROACHES tend to be a telltale sign of a larger infestation happening in the kitchen, the building or improper cleaning habits of the restaurant. No, it was not an outside bug or a common water bug, it was a Roach. I've been telling my oldest daughter that we should all go here for dinner because I was sure my daughter and son-in-law would like the food here. We finally had the chance to take them last night. My husband and I had been here many years ago when we met Chef Mike in Restaurant Depot. We started talking to him and found out that he opened this restaurant fairly recently (at the time) and he told us that he wanted a place for people in the restaurant industry to have someplace to eat when they got off work. We told him that we used to live in that area but now lived further south and he told us to give his restaurant a try if we were ever in the area. It was probably a few months after we met him that we stopped by. The restaurant was set up differently than it is now (I like the way it's set up now.) and used to have a buzzer at your table that you would press when you were ready for more dishes if you ordered the AYCE. We had never had Korean food before and didn't know what to expect so the small portions were perfect and allowed us to figure out what we liked. The food was amazing then and my husband and I said to each other that we'd be back but unfortunately, we never think of heading north when we're trying to figure out what we want for dinner. Well back to present day, when we entered, we noticed the restaurant set up was differently than how we remembered. We got to pick where we wanted to sit and chose a booth. Our waitress was Chef Mike's sister, Sandy, and she was fantastic! There was another waitress there and they would tag team to see if we needed anything. We decided on the upgraded AYCE for $5 more which included Kalbi Ribs. We started with a little salad and small dishes of kimchee, fish cakes, potato salad, bean sprouts and a couple of others that I don't remember their names. You get your own individual rice in a covered bowl so that the rice is still hot when the meats come out. They also bring out a pot of miso soup (which is bubbling and piping hot) and soup bowls for you to serve yourself. The miso soup is Korean style, not Japanese style, and had a kick to it. My husband normally doesn't like spicy food but he kept drinking it and said that he had a love/hate relationship with it. He loved how the soup tasted but hated how spicy it was, lol. The meats started coming out on platters and looked appetizing and smelled delicious! The Marinated Chicken was very moist and flavorful. The Bulgogi and Kalbi Ribs were amazingly tender and delicious! The Pork Belly was good but I would have liked them better if they were crispier. My husband thought they were perfect the way they were and LOVED it. I didn't care for the Spicy Pork but that's only because I don't like spicy things. My older daughter on the other hand LOVED this. My middle daughter really liked the chicken and my son-in-law couldn't make up his mind between the Kalbi Ribs and Bulgogi. All the dishes were great but we all had our favorites. It was fun trying to rate the dishes in the order that we liked them. The restaurant was a hit and everyone enjoyed their meal. First time coming to this restaurant. It was great because number one its open til 2am . In Pembroke Pines it is hard to find restaurants open after 10pm. Sometimes you want to eat good but not junk fast food. The food was made fresh and taste great. The fried rice was good highly recommend and the salad was fresh and the ginger sauce amazing. Since my friends are Americans they just liked the Bulgogi, Spicy pork and Chicken. Me personally, I love it all. I especially enjoyed the soup. Nice and spicy with tofu, veggies and meat. The spare ribs are my personal favorite, they are amazing. You will definitely get your monies worth and won't be leaving hungry. Came here for date night. My dining companion has never experienced ROK and it was a great first experience for him. We order a few dishes and soju (sweet baby Jesus is it strong AND I LOVE IT !) Parking is available directly out front and there is plenty of it. The ladies that are usually running the house are super sweet and informative and accommodating. I'm always super confident bringing people here because the customer service is always so great. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was crunchy and had a balanced sauce that was not super sweet which we enjoyed. We also ordered chicken and beef bbq which were delicious. I have no complaints, I left full and satisfied with my experience and the dishes we enjoyed that night. I will be back. I wanted a Korean bbq experience, but was slightly disappointed to learn the grills on each table aren't used because they don't have vents for the smoke- all the food is prepared in the kitchen. For food, my group opted to order a la carte instead of all you can eat per the waitress' recommendations, which ended up being the better choice to minimize wasting food. We got bulgogi, kalbi (short ribs), and pork belly which came with all you can eat sides. Also ordered the Japanese pancake (okonomiyaki) which had pork and other ingredients I couldn't place. It came with fried eggs on top and an overload of fish flakes. I would deff recommend the pancake but without the fish flakes- they literally look and smell like fish food and the flavor was overpowering. Out of the meats, I thought the bulgogi and kalbi had the best flavor. However, the meat did take a while to come out so we were munching on the sides long before the meat was ready. In terms of service, the waitresses were friendly and helpful, but they didn't check on us regularly enough to refill waters or side dishes despite the restaurant not being very busy, so we had to keep ringing the table bell. Not my first pick for Korean BBQ cause they don't do table top grilling but not bad for AYCE. The meats they use are a bit on the cheap and fatty side but the flavors are good. You can do the $25pp with bulgogi, pork, chicken or upgrade to include Galbi for $29pp. It comes with banchan and lettuce for wrapping plus soondubu for the table. Everything can be refilled just make sure not to over order and waste food. Our server was very nice but she was the only waitress so she seemed to have to deal with a lot. Our favorite was the galbi but there was not a lot of meat of most of the bones. The soup was good but very salty. The banchan was all delicious. They also offer karaoke. I give this place a 3.5. Not due to the service which was extremely accommodating, not due to the food that was really good, not due to the drink which had the great Korean selection. We had a friends get together that I was hoping for a BBQ at the table and a little better ambiance. The food was prepared in the kitchen and brought to the table, there was no button at the table that alerted the server we needed more and it was not as I had experienced in the past with other restaurants of this type. I honestly wish this restaurant gave you a full KBBQ experience, but it doesn't. I came with a friend for their all-you-can-eat menu, which costs slightly over $20 per person. Unlike other KBBQ places, you are not given raw meat to cook on the grill. Instead, everything is prepared in the kitchen and brought to you on a hot iron skillet. The food itself tasted amazing -- both beef and pork options were well marinated. The soft-tofu soup was a little too salty for me, but was amazing when mixed with some rice. They also give you a decent amount of side dishes, including the staples of kimchi and other pickled vegetables. However, the service is horrible. My friend and I had to wait well over twenty minutes for our next round of food because the waiter barely visited our table. If our side dishes or waters were empty, they didn't notice until we had to call their attention. The tables are equipped with buzzers that notify your waiter to check on you, but even then, they would forget half of the things we requested. Unfortunately, there are limited AYCE KBBQ options in town, and this one is cheaper than Izziban (unless you're doing the lunch/late-night special). read more

Will try in a few weeks! I had the deep fried gizzards, pork yakisoba noodles, and soon dubu. I didn't expect the pork yakisoba to be so big! Definitely worth the portion. I like to eat it spicy, tastes good with sriracha. Soon dubu has tofu, pork, 3 clams, 2 regular shrimps, and 1 egg on the side. Soup broth is not bad but I had better. I like how it includes this many protein options in one good price. Deep fried gizzards are so good! So crunchy and crispy even after 15 minutes! It comes with sesame oil sauce (with salt and pepper) and sriracha sauce. The portion is a lot for appetizer and it's so worth it! I'm going to always order this! I didn't do the karaoke here but my sister did, she like how you can order food inside, just no ACYE kbbq inside). It's 20$ an hour for the karaoke. I've been coming to ROK for years now. If I had to put a number on it I'd say at least 8 years... I remember the buzzer at the table even! Unfortunately ROK is not close so we do really have to plan to come here. Admittedly the reviews about the cleanliness had me a little concerned but I decided to go anyways and I am glad I did. I went on Saturday night with my husband and two children. Upon entering we had to wait a bit to be greeted and sat, which was fine by me since the table was literally cleaned off just for us. It smelled clean which is a plus- all viruses considered. We ordered the upgraded bbq and thoroughly enjoyed all the food. The miso soup was spicy so only my husband ate it but my 8 year old tasted a bit and he said it was good too but couldn't handle the heat so he quit soon after. The banchan was delicious. We had the cucumbers, kimchee, potato salad, fish cake, and sweet beans and they were all fresh and refreshing little compliments to the entrees. It took a bit for the food to come but we appreciate cooked to order food. The ribs were on the fatty side. While I can handle a little fat, these were exaggerated and in some instances you couldn't really tell until it was in your mouth. The pieces that were not so fatty were spectacular. I love Korean style beef ribs (galbi/kalbi) so this was right up my alley. The pork belly was devoured by my men with no complaints. The bulgogi and chicken were a little dry but really good with the marinated onions on a lettuce leaf. Service was polite and hospitable ans generous to say the least. For as long as I've been coming here it's been the same two young ladies. Prices are the same as months back for regular ayce $25 and upgraded $29. I wasn't charged for my 2 year old and price for my 8 year old was $14.95 though they don't advertise it. I appreciated the price break for my kiddo where I expected to pay full price. Overall we really enjoyed the food, appreciated the care taken to give us a spacious table, and generous service. I can't wait to come back soon... thank you ROK and keep it up!
