We showed up Sunday afternoon for beer & lunch and were treated to a jam session with local musicians playing blue grass & folk tunes.

If you're going to open the first brewery in a town that has been dry for almost 100 years (in case…read moreyou were wondering why Argyle Brewing is one town over...) you'd better do it right. And this place does it more than right. Opening in November shortly after the ordinance allowing alcohol sales in the town, Highlander brews excellent beers served in a lovely setting. Billing themselves as a "farm to pint" brewery, Highlander is situated on a beautiful, sprawling farm, where they grow their own hops and barley (used in their own products as well as to produce malt for themselves and to sell to other local brewers). While they have a cool indoor taproom, the current Covid restrictions naturally mean that outdoor seating with food options are the current setting, which only allows you to enjoy their excellent beer with a lovely outdoor view. I tried the Fir Baby, a hazy ale with that might be a great option for people who dislike the overpowering hophead IPAs--the beer featured the unique touch of fir tips from farm Christmas trees in lieu of/to supplement traditional hops, creating an interesting flavor profile. The other beer I tried was simply excellent, a Brown Maple Ale. Now I love brown ales and I love maple syrup, but offerings like this always make me a little nervous, as I fear they inevitably turn out too sweet. Not this, which had a wonderful beer flavor with just that slight maple hint at the end--according to the brewer, the maple is added in fermentation and not after. At any rate, it was subtle and wonderfully done. My friend tried the Blonde Ale and the Strawberry Rhubarb Blonde and enjoyed them both. Diverse beer offerings (a couple of IPAs on the menu as well), all reasonably priced and most in the 5-6.5% ABV range. Would have liked to try a stout, but they said they usually feature those more in the winter than the summer, which is understandable. The food truck was a nice touch--if it's not just a Covid tack-on, I think it would be a great idea to keep. Having a few options (such as the tasty mozzarella sticks) to try with the beer was a nice touch, and probably kept us there a bit longer. Staff was friendly--our server Nicole was great and knowledgeable about the beers, and as mentioned, one of the owners, Jeff, swung by to ask how we were enjoying everything and discuss the beers and ingredients with us. Also as mentioned, a very lovely setting to enjoy a beer. A bit tough to get to/off the main road, but the trip--and the beer--is certainly worth it.

Love this setting! This is a great little gem. They offer great conversation good beers and even…read moreserve to the Rv community by being a Harvest host, need more of these in the community!

This brewery does everything right. The Greenwich site is relatively small (I counted about 20…read moreseats) and charming, the staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, and the prices for the pours and flights are very reasonable. Unfortunately, after sampling a good mix, I could not find a single brew that pleased my palate. I got a flight with a sour, the red ale, a brown ale, and a stout. Nothing distinguished itself to me. That will happen sometime, everyone has different tastes. But based on the fact that this place was constantly full the entire time I was there, and the service everyone received, the beers and the taproom are quite popular. So it's definitely worth checking out. Perhaps if I visit again I'll find beer(s) more to my liking.

The facility is quite small as a bar area where you could sit three or four people and a couple of tables that each could host about four people per table- no more than 16 or 18 seats in the facility. They don't have food, but they will give you pretzels and peanuts on the house which is a nice touch considering there isn't another brewery in the region that does this. Beer is very good no complaints. We tried their stout and one of their clear IPA's, and they were both great. Looking forward to our return.

We ordered a few drinks and appetizers prior to our dinner plans. The wings are a must try as we had both the buffalo and maple sriracha wings. Both were extremely well seasoned and flavored. The meat itself was tender and moist. The pretzel bites were delicious and soft. However the beer cheese could have had more flavor to it and consistency it felt a bit watery. All of our drink were delicious. My raspberry sour is definitely a new favorite. Service was efficient the only mishap we had was she asking for our bill they gave us the wrong tables and when we corrected them they seemed shocked of our honesty.

It was a very short drive and the parking facilities were good .. the interiors and seating were good too. Lots of space inside to sit and drink. Service was good, and the waitress was always smiling and took care of us well. Being a brewery one thing that surprised me was they just had one IPA on the tap.. just one IPA.. can you believe it? I was eager and waiting to drink a home grown New England/Vermont IPA but all we had there was one variety... it was a hazy IPA and don't get me wrong. It tasted really well... but I wish they had more options. They also had a wheat ale and some wine varieties.... Even in the food front, the menu was limited and less options.. We ordered chicken wings, and it was ok. Sauce was a bit sweet .. one of the sauces was really good and spicy . Overall, it fell short of my expectation and wish they had more food and drink options.. 3 stars ...

We tried the pumpkin stout, which not only didn't taste like a Stout, but didn't have any pumpkin flavor! Very disappointing. We additionally got a bottle of of Sav blanc (they don't allow glasses), it was so terrible that we poured the entire bottle out- a complete waste of money! We also ordered a grilled cheese that had 4-5 different cheeses in it and oh my god was it amazing. And I'm a grilled cheese aficionado. Also, the owner "burned" the first sandwich so she gave us 2 and only charged for one. But it wasn't even ruined! Which brings me to my next point... The owner was so nice and hospitable! We were 2 couples plus a baby up there for the tough mudder in the summer so the restaurants were flooded in the offseason. She recommended a few places to go and even called them for us to make a reservation because there wasn't any cell phone service (which totally sucks but can't hold it against them). The only thing that's weird is Google says they're closed on weekends when they're not. I suggest calling. And getting a grilled cheese.
