Northway Brewing had been on my "must visit" list for some time. So when one of my out of town "brewery crawl buddies" was visiting, we made a point to come here, especially after checking out the tap list in advance. There's typically about 20 beers on tap, and there's enough variety and familiarity - combined with flavored hard seltzer pours - to satisfy anyone's wish list for a flight. The space is comfortable, to allow conversation to flow freely among your own friends and everyone sitting near you. And don't forget about the dogs demanding your attention at this dog-friendly site. We frequent a lot of breweries and love to experience new ones. This, in my opinion, is what every brewery should strive to be. We arrived on a slow day, which made a perfect opportunity to strike up conversation with their brewers and staff. One thing led to another, and we ended up being offered a tour of their massive facility and talking beer and brewing. The facility is impressive! We learned the history of the brewery and were walked through their entire brewing process. We had numerous flights to sample their beers, and the staff were kind enough to curate them for us based on what they though we would like. The beers were excellent! We ended up remaining here for quite a while, sitting at their bar, and talking about the area, life, etc. It was the most pleasant interaction we had while away in Lake George. The tasting room is really cool, featuring lots of wood, galvanized metals, cool artwork, etc. It was an awesome atmosphere to be in to try some great beers. We will 100% return! read more

We come here annually on our lake George trip. The beer here is fantastic. The bartender, Justin, was so sweet and attentive to customers!! It was a very pleasant way to spend a couple hours. Nestled on a main road but pushed back off the street with a alrge parking lot. Nice outdoor area (one open to the sun and one area under a tent.) Great murals inside and just nice folks working. Stopped by to pick up their Crimson Berry Sparkling Brew which we had tasted at the Saratoga Taste NY Pavilion at the Raceway . Loved the Crimson Berry it is refreshing and light ! This craft brewery is in Queensbury right on route 9N it was very easy to find . The place was pretty packed with people eating , listening to music and enjoying themselves! The interior is spotless and has large open area for seating with a nice size bar . There is also plenty of outdoor seating with covered areas as well . To enjoy with your brew they offer food from Streaking Moose BBQ , a food truck on the premises and while we were there , on a Friday , they had live music . read more

We thought this was a cool place to hang for a bit after a fun-filled day at the kiddy park next door. First inside and then outside, we really enjoyed our time having a few of the delicious beer on tap. The staff was approachable and friendly and we never waited for attention or service. Even though we got caught up in a pop up thunder storm, we took it in stride and waited it out on one of the many covered picnic benches/tables. Really great craft brewery located a short distance from Lake George Village. They had a wide variety of styles that I enjoyed. The Oatbituary oatmeal stout was probably my favorite of their offerings. The Miracle on Ice golden ale was an excellent summer quencher. Ahh there's nothing better than having some other obligation (going to a wedding) to create the opportunity to visit a brewery in said area of matrimony (Northway Brewing Company). Therein lies the reasoning behind my recent trip up yonder to northern New York for beer...I mean a wedding, yeah. Jokes aside, I knew I didn't want to turn down the opportunity to partake in some local libations (i.e. beer) and so mi amigo and I headed over to check out the spot. Northway basically has every aesthetic piece of a brewery that a beer goer might be searching for. Outdoor seating, bar area, long tables, cans to go, corn hole, merch, quality music, oh and their beer isn't half bad either! My buddy and I each went with a flight of four (6oz pours so you know the $10 + tax was worth it) and tried to vary between us to get in as many beers as possible. I started off with the Sunrise Session IPA (not overly hoppy, pretty subtle) and continued down the Avenue of the Pines (NEIPA with bitterness accompanied nicely with fruity notes). Double Sunrise IPA was up next (think Sunrise Session only more bite) rounding out three IPAs that were not overly memorable but solid nonetheless. The standout of my flight was Nitro Burly Beard Oatmeal Stout. Exactly what you want from this style with a super thick, perfectly nitro-ed ale with a slight bitter coffee flavor going on. From my buddy's flight I tried Perfect Day Pilsner (which was light, crisp and probably a perfect pint to drink on a summer day) as well as the Raspberry Shandy and Strawberry Wheat Ale (both rocking some fruit factors with the Strawberry being more lasting on my palate). Once done with our beer dance, a tulip glass was purchased along with a couple of stickers and away we went, satisfied from our northern New York suds. Overall, Northway Brewing Company was a superbly solid spot from all factors wanted in a tasting room/brewery. Yeah, some of the beers weren't anything to write home about so I'm not gonna pound the five star drum here, but I'd be more than willing to return if/when I head North in the Empire State. And maybe next time it will strictly be for beer (so I don't need that wedding cover to distract me from what's most important...). read more

Good beer selection: I rated individually on Untappd Sours 3/10. tried a flight.. had a great sourness to them but not the best flavor profiles. I thought they were difficult to taste/on the bland side. (Rated 3 of them around a 3 on Untappd and 1 of them a 0.25) IPAs were good according to kyle. Soft pretzels with mustard dip 9/10. Pretzels were cooked perfectly but the mustard dip was a spicy mustard which I didn't like. I ended up dipping it in the argyle cheese dip instead. Beer cheese dip with a locally brewed beer would be a good idea for future. Argyle cheese dip with crackers 10/10. was really good. It was a maple mustard dip. On the sweet side because of the maple but really good! Pepperoni pizza 7/10. Not like buffalo pizza, but the local cheese on top was good. Thin crust. Homemade sauce was good. Could have maybe used a little more though. read more

Lovely and large brewery. Very dog friendly. Everyone who worked here was so friendly. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. There is a large area with merchandise and some snacks. There is a food truck outside that we did not get a chance to try but looked to be popular with everyone else there. The beer was good. I came into this brewery not expecting much. It's on a long road that has a bunch of strip malls. The place itself is right next door to a mini golf place. I was pleasantly surprised. Flavors used in the beer just work. I tried the apple pie ale and I was surprised on how much I liked it. Not super sweet and over powering like a lot of breweries tend to do. Visiting from MD, with so many breweries in the area, we ended up at Northway because their Happy Hour offering $4 pints & their large selection of IPA varieties! They had all their beer posted up on a display menu which flashed from screen to screen-making it hard to look over all the brews. In addition, the screen didn't provide any descriptions of the beers in regards to taste profiles (i.e cirtusy, ginger spice, etc.) so we really gambled with our selections...but this worked out in our favor! We ended up with some great random brews :) Also because of the new NY Covid mandate we were required to order food from their stationary food truck (we opted for the Poutine & Texas Fries) All the beers had a really great quality to them: The Samurai Helmet had a great ginger spice that enhanced the IPA hops The No Implications & Adventure of the Pines had a smooth citrusy quality I was a bit disappointed in the Mango Milkshake, as there wasn't a great lactose creaminess, but the hops were yummy The Oatbituary was roasty nibs perfection As for the food, the portion of fries was quite LARGE -they were crisped to perfection, which made the sauces all over so much better. Specifically: the poutine fries had large cheese curds, fresh & melt in your mouth yummy. The Texas fries were topped not only with mass amounts of spicy nacho cheese, but large chunks of meat. During my visit I had the chance to try my favorites (Sour) They had 4 so I went for a flight which they do offer, and then just a nice pint to top it off! Back for a second time, I waited almost 6 months before returning after the bartender shit all over a musician I said that I surprisingly fell for (if you must know it was Billie Eilish) so I swallow my pride and returned only to be greeted by The Grateful Dead for 2 hours- Music matters!- and being forced to listen to The Dead (or Billie Eilish) for that matter for 2 hours in a bar or restaurant is torture- especially The Dead if you're not a Deadhead- I mean seriously, just fade away already. Granted, I asked and the bartender and he immediately changed it and played a classic rock mix.. But anyway, salvaging this review is the beer. I love beer but have unfortunately found that unfiltered beer wreaks havoc with my lover intestinal tract and most craft micro brews don't filter. Well guess what? Me and my homie visited on a February Thursday afternoon, just after they opened, about 2 pm. We were the only two there for quite a while. Stayed for a couple hours and saw maybe 5 other customers stop into the tasting room for a taste or two. Shane, the beertender was a cool dude and he had some killer tunes playing on the stereo system (might have been Sirius XM); he knows a lot about beer, brewing, and all about the beers they make and sell here. Dude brings experience if you want to talk beer. Tap system feeds 20 taps and on this day they were running 19 different ones, most of which were Cooperstown Brewing Company beers. They also serve Northway Brewing beers, Harlem, Davidson Brothers (Shane said they are phasing these out) and Winner's Circle. I've tried all the CBC beers so I ran with a couple I've never tried before. I did the Northway Brewing Company Sunrise Session IPA (5% ABV), nice and fruity, plentiful haze, strong finish without being overhoppy. Totally drinkable session IPA I will go back to for sure. Second beer I knocked out was the I-87 IPA (6.3% ABV) which touted a new recipe. I didn't like this beer nearly as much. Not nearly as much depth too it and very little hoppiness at all. It was an APA, not an IPA as far as taste goes. Anyhow, they have a really large tasting room and probably 15 to 20 chairs at the bar. They have a fridge so you can take cold beers to go (all beers are 10 bucks per 6 pack out the fridge and they let you totally mix and match if you want!). They of course do growler fills too and on Thursdays all 64 oz. growler fills are 10 bucks on any beer!!!! Interstingly, they had a cold brew coffee tap line hooked up as well and you could order a cold brew coffee straight from the tap if you like. Shane said they do small batch recipes all the time that they tap into just to see what recipes are working etc....definitely ask him if they are running a beer or two with a new, unique recipe. He mentioned they'll be serving up a Coconut Creme Stout very soon... This place is a good, good sized microbrewery where they are busy brewing and shippping out A LOT of craft beer. It's a lot bigger than say Common Roots... Tours available or you can head upstairs and check things out from the 2nd floor if you like (see my videos). All beers were 5 bucks each plus tax for a full pint...super reasonable. Strong, free wifi provided as well and of course they have a little bit of merch you can buy too if that's your thing. No food offerings, though I'm sure they'd let you order delivery. This is not at all a beer snob kind of joint...most of the patrons were just local guys that like good craft beer...laid back...no hipster quality at all, which I think is cool (too much of that going around). read more

Up for Columbus Day weekend and after a nice hike, is there anything better than some really good beer and a solid food truck? Beautiful and spacious layout, the football games were on. I'm going to grade on a little bit of a curve here, as this is a great concept in a huge, open space (I found myself reminiscing about all of the great movies I saw here back in the day), so I hope they succeed. But I do think they need to put a bit more time and effort into figuring out what they want to be and getting service and communication up to snuff to reach their potential. I called early afternoon on a Friday to ask if it would be possible to take a tour of the brewery area that day, and was told yes. When we arrived early evening, we were greeted with a mystified stare and told they "weren't really doing tours right now." However, they were allowing free self-guided tours of the back area above their brewing/bottling area. This was surprisingly effective, with a few informative signs in the back. Still, it left us wanting a bit more, and if this was what they meant when I called before coming, that was entirely unclear. My wife and I each ordered a sampler, four beers for $10. The pours are quite generous, and I love the idea of the laminated sheet where you can mark off the beers you want and still refer to the taste/profile information as you sip. However, they simply serve the beers in the order they were checked off, without any regard for the how they would best be enjoyed. I've never ordered a sampler in any self-respecting beer establishment where an ESB and a porter were presented before a seasonal summer ale just because they were listed in that order on the menu My wife and I reordered the beers on our own, but more effort/knowledge on the part of the staff (who largely hung out/socialized with friends) would have been appreciated. The beers were mostly quite good--loved the Davidson Bros. beers (the new I-87 was a particular standout), whereas the Cooperstown offerings were a bit more disappointing. My final disappointment was that they had an awesome sounding cheese/meat plate on the back of their menu, featuring Oscar's meats and cheeses. I immediately ordered, but was told they weren't sure if they had everything and would check. Again, it seemed as if they forgot all about it, had to ask again, and was told by another server that they didn't have enough food to make a plate and that they were "phasing that out." This is such a great place to hang - spacious, with board games and a great TV and cornhole... people presumably need to drive here and some people might not be able to drink much or may want some snacks while they leisurely hang... I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to offer food and I hope they reconsider that. And I likewise hope they embrace being more of a beer destination with guided tours and better-curated tastings. Still, this is already a fun place to pop by with some friends on an early evening and enjoy some good beer and games, I just hope they iron out some kinks. And keep serving food. And stay open later than 8pm! read more

This was our first visit to Northway Brewing and it won't be our last! We have been very particular about our public outings during the "age of Covid" and we were so impressed by the attention and level of detail that Northway has put toward cleanliness and disinfecting as well as excellent hospitality! These days, you'll need to order food with your drink while on premises, but the food does not disappoint! We have had their beers in cans, but draught is even better! There is socially-distanced indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating! If you're looking for a safe, delicious, and fun way to beat the heat this summer, go to Northway Brewing! read more

My boyfriend and I frequent this place and it's our absolutely favorite place to have a beer and relax. All of their beers are a hit (seasonal date amazing) and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about what's on tap. The flights are around $10 and their happy hour has $4 pints and it's longer than most happy hours anywhere! They encourage you to come and have fun, they have board games, free pool, cornhole and we have also brought in our own games as well as a fire place outside to build your own fire. During covid they did to go pints & growlers and we're still just as friendly and happy to be there as their customers. I wish the best for Northway Brewing, they're killing it! read more

I loved all the beers I tried here. Got a flight of 4, then a pint. We sat outside. It is dog friendly, though we didn't bring ours. I asked the food truck guy about their poutine, and later he brought us a sample, which was really nice. (Instead of gravy, he uses a chili meat sauce: it was good!) Inside there's a bar, where you order. They have a few soft drinks available; my wife got a cream soda. Overall, it was a nice place. read more

The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because the Session IPA we got in cans in the local gas station was good. The brewery was another story we waited in line for an unreasonable amount of time. The girl behind the bar was unknowledgeable and flirting with a guest. We ordered 4 beers in a flight; 2 were correct and 2 were not what we order and not good. I would like to give them another shot, but there are so many other brew pubs, that I would rather take a chance on. read more
