Scheduled a prenatal massage here last week and definitely regretted that decision real quick. Like most pregnant women, I have lower back pain, should be pretty obvious to someone who is trained in prenatal massages. I even mentioned to her a few times throughout the hour that I have really bad lower back pain. The massage sucked. She basically just rubbed oil all over my body. No pressure. Nothing. I get it, she's afraid I'm pregnant blah blah blah. But wtf am I paying you for. Please save your money and don't even consider this place for a pregnancy massage, they are not trained for it. read more

This place is great. I got one of the couple's spa packages as an anniversary present for my wife thinking I would be super uncomfortable and suffer every man's fear of getting a boner but I would tough it out for her sake. First we got facials, which I had never done before but it was kind of awesome. It was way more relaxing than I anticipated and they put these fun jellyfish (not real, that's what they felt like) on my hands and did all this other stuff I had no idea was part of the process. After I got over my nerves it was quite enjoyable. Once we got to the actual massage (deep tissue) I was nervous again but the therapist was very good at targeting my problem areas without making me feel uncomfortable. As a man who had never done that before, I assumed the whole experience would be awkward and stressful but it was fantastic. They had water, tea and fruit available before and after each session, which was nice too. Since that visit we've gone back a few times and are considering getting a membership. The most beautiful peaceful spa I've ever seen! The front desk staff were really pleasant, the mystical waiting area invoked a calming effect. The fresh pineapple spears meticulously placed under a cake cover provided a quick relief to a mid day pang. Louiza flawlessly attended to my almost non existent brows, with care, and sensitivity without judgement. Her attention to detail transformed them into a work of art! My boyfriend decided to take me here for a late birthday gift and, unfortunately, I left underwhelmed. We scheduled a 8pm Sunday couple Swedish massage. When we walked in, the receptionist was talking to someone else on staff. When she walked us to the back, she asked if we had been there before. My boyfriend answered that he had and then she goes "oh great, you can show her around. You know where everything is." Wth? So what if my boyfriend has been there before? I hadn't and I would've appreciated being shown around. Moving on, we head to the back where the mini-locker room is so that we can change into our robes for our massage. The locker room is one small room, so remember to close the curtains before you change! (There's also a dimmer near the curtain if the room is too dark.) When I'm finished I wait outside near the stairs. As I'm waiting for my boyfriend to get done changing, I'm approached by a masseuse and she proceeds to call me Dorothy and say that she remembers me from before. I stare at her confused and tell her I'm not Dorothy. She then walks away flustered without providing any explanation. That was rather unprofessional. After that awkward experience, my boyfriend has now joined me and we are waiting for our masseuses to show up. When they do, they quickly rush us into the room to undress. As my masseuse walks in, I try to let her know that I have a lot of tension and knots in my neck and shoulder. I thought she heard me as she repeated it back to me, but she barely worked on my neck/shoulder and spent an exorbitant amount of time rubbing oil on my legs. While she put the right amount of pressure on my upper body, I felt like she was just rubbing oil on other parts of my body. I usually end up sleeping during my massages, but I was definitely painfully awake during every minute of that 60 minute "massage." After we were done with that, we decided to spend some time in their sauna which was the size of a closet. Their facilities in general was underwhelming, small and basic. That wouldn't have been an issue if they provided quality massages, which they don't. Overall, a very overpriced, disappointing experience. I won't be returning. read more

I have been a customer of this business since 2008 but based on my experience on the last visit will absolutely never return. How I was treated during the last visit was pretty much the worst experience I have ever had with any business. I booked an appointment for a massage and drove all the way from San Marino on a day when I was stressed out and in pain. I have Fibromyalgia which the spa has been aware of for many years as it is noted in my file/account. I arrived and took a seat in the relaxation area. All of a sudden the manager/ owner (not sure which she is) came to me and in a stern tone of voice stated that "we need to talk" I followed her out to the lobby and she proceeded to admonish me for not telling the person on the phone when I booked the appointment for not telling them I had fibromyalgia and that it was some how my responsiblity to tell them each time. Prior to this I had never mentioned it when booking an appointment because it was always in my file. She then proceeded to tell me I needed to go and that they couldn't help me. I told her that I had driven all the way from San Marino and she made several statements the undertone of which hinted that I might sue them if I got a massage!! One of the statements was "we wouldn't want your husband to come in a get mad at us." (My husband had been paying for my membership at one point) After being throughly admonished and because I was having a stressful day I was brought to tears right in front of other customers! I told the lady that I had been thier customer for years and had written them two nice Yelp reviews and recommended the business to many of my friends. This fell on dead ears. The manager/owner said "why are you crying, there is no reason to cry!" I told her that I was crying because of her treatment after I had already had a very stressful day. Finally they found a masseuse for me. I went into the massage in tears and the masseuse offer to give me a hug. When I came out there was absolutely NO apology from the manager/owner. Had there been one I might considered staying thier customer but after no attempt at an apology I will never return. read more

Ok, I admit it: I came half an hour late than my appointment time which my sister had booked for me. Then I rushed into getting changed: I had not checked their website and knew nothing about the aminities. The girl who got me inside did not tell me much about or if she did, nothing that I could be excited about. Also, my masseusse, she did 30 minutes massage which I asked her to concentrate on my shoulders and neck as I have tons of knots in there. All I got is the deep tissue massage around my neck which felt good, was only for like 5-10 minutes at the end. When I asked her to do deep tissue with her hands on my upper back, she refused saying she only does it with elbows... Not my first time being at a professional spa, and I know its doable with hands... I was really disappointed. Wasted $115 for a little neck deep tissue massage. read more

Great spa in downtown Burbank. I highly recommend the prenatal massage by Omi. I've been there a few times now and she does a fantastic job of getting the knots in your neck, shoulders, lower back, and legs. The massage table is slightly heated and nice music piping through. I also liked that the spa is open late so you can get a massage right before bedtime. The spa looks small from the store front but expansive once inside. I felt relaxed once changed and waited in one of the various sitting areas. There is cold water and hot tea with fruit (they had pineapple when I there) in one of the waiting rooms which is a nice perk. Fruit (apples/bananas) are also available in the hallways. Clean facilities. There is a small sauna on the bottom floor which I've used a while ago but no hot tub. I recommend to arrive at least 15-20 min to wind down before your service and you can arrive up to an hour before. Friendly/professional front staff, never had any issues. I've usually been able to get a same day appointment. Hope to come back for more services post-baby! read more

This review is strictly for customer service I received today. I have been before and the treatments were fine. My annoyance today is because after booking an appointment over the phone when I arrived my appt was not in the system. Now, booked a long 3.5 hr treatment so right away I knew that if I wasn't in the system- it wasn't going to happen today. But after booking a sitter, taking a Lyft to my treatment...getting a simple "sorry about that" really annoyed me. They could have offered me an alternative treatment, a discount on a future treatment...a floral sachet...something. To be followed by have a nice day on my way out. Ugh!!! Bad customer service really irks me so I won't be back, there are too many other options. *Quick update: A day or so after I posted this, I received a call from the spa saying that the owner had seen my review and wanted to see if there was something they could do. About me, when I am done I am done- so it was a no thank you. But also the person that called sounded so annoyed that she had to make this phone call that it made me laugh. read more

I had a great experience at rA. I went in for a custom facial, my esthetician determined what would best be fit for my skin once she did a review of It in person. I felt extremely relaxed the entire time...the room had a great aroma to It and the entire facility was extremely clean and calming. My facial also included a neck, arm and hand massage. I even had a hand mask on for a while. The process included cleaning my skin, performing minimal extractions, using high frequency to get rid of some scarring and some hydrating techniques to get rid of my dry skin! After I left, I truly noticed an improvement in my skin, It felt softer and even looked fresher. I learned after my treatment that clients are able to arrive early to their appointments, to take advantage of the different rooms available, such as, the sauna or salt room. I wish I was told this at the time of booking, in order for me to have planned my schedule around it and made the most out of my visit. So if you plan to go, make sure you have a few hours blocked so that you could fully engage in everything they offer. I do hope to return and to enjoy all the rooms along with a rose water bath and another facial! Next time, I plan to spend a few hours soaking up some relaxation! read more

The vibe is Burke Williams, but it's smaller and the layout is more confusing. I understand there's a sauna, but I couldn't find it. There wasn't clear signage and there weren't any employees around the quiet areas to ask. The quiet rooms were relaxing though and the fruit provided was ripe and tasty. I received a gift certificate and was excited to check it out for a massage. It wasn't the best (or the worst) massage I've received. More general elbow and forearm pressure than targeted finger and palm pressure. The room was cold and the masseuse had cold hands and applied cold lotion which was an unfortunate combination while trying to relax. Heated massage tables or a heat lamp would be a nice addition along with warmed lotion or oil. read more

I've been wanting to try rA out for some time. I finally decided to give it a try with the rA 2 Spa package. The massage was great, I can't recall the name of the gal who did my massage, blonde long hair, petite gal. She was great, I told her to go hard....which may have been a bit too hard. I was in pain for several days after. Totally not her fault, that was all on me. She was fantastic! The facial was done by Maria, and as the reviews all say, she's fantastic. Absolutely great with the facial, she was very informative about my skin and the whole thing was super relaxing. As far as the facility itself goes. Meh. Really not impressed. I wouldn't even call this place a spa. They have a salt room, which....okay sure? I'm not sure about that whole movement, but whatever. The quiet tea room has some cut up fruit and tea. Cool, okay again. The quiet room has some plus seats, and is...quiet. Apparently they have a sauna, but I didn't bother with it. I guess my expectation was, if you call a place a spa...it should have some amenities. My comparison was to Burke Williams. They've got the mist room, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna. I usually like to go spend a few hours at a spa. Get my massage, chill out, relax, do nothing. It's just...there's no place to do nothing here. No jacuzzi to relax in. No steam room to enjoy. Even in the shower/restrooms, I was a little surprised at how bare everything was. So that's why I removed 2 stars. Given the rates they charge, and the lack of amenities, I wasn't entirely impressed. If I want a massage, just a straight shot, I'll go back. But please don't call it a spa. read more

If only you were closer!!! I love this spa get a away! My husband and I stop here when visiting town for the weekend to get a couples massage. We received the Shiatsu massages for $230.00 for an hour each. This places caters to your every need. We were greet kindly at the door and given a tour of the facility. There is fruit and water at every cornor that you can grab at anytime during your treatments. This place exceeding my expectations by a far! There were tons of rooms and they even give you a set of clothes to change in to that our comfortable. Sandals that massage your feet were gievn to us as well. The massage therapist were calm and made sure we were happy with the right pressure applied to our specific areas. I love how you could use the sauna and showers as well anytime while you are here. There are lockers given to you also to lock your purse etc. away and robes and given if you want to use them. # 1 get a way spa! read more

Love this place! My husband bought me a package for my bday that included a lavender bath, 90 min deep tissue massage and 60 min custom facial. The front desk ppl and everyone who works there were so nice and welcoming!! I was greeted and taken on a tour of the facilities. They have saunas, full service bathrooms, a tea room with tea water and fruit, a Himalayan salt room as well as the treatment rooms. I put my stuff in a locked locker and changed into a robe and went to chill in the sauna before my bath. The bath was lovely and so pretty, lots of rose petals, tea and fruit to eat. Then I had the best massage of my life! Just the right pressure and I even fell asleep lol! The facial was painful bc she did a peel or something but end result was amazing. My husband and I had our first experience at rA Organic Spa yesterday for our 5 year dateaversary. For me, it was my first professional massage ever and my first time in a proper spa. We opted for the 1 hour couples Swedish Massage. The layout of the spa is unique with lots of stairs, but warm and welcoming and appropriately partitioned off from each section. The employees were helpful and always offering water, tea, or fruit and we got a little tour of the facility. We got there a bit early, so we were able to change into our robes and relax a bit in the salt room. Our therapists came around and found us right on time, and worked the good full hour. Korrine (sp?) was amazing on my back. She had 36 *years* of tension and sports muscle buildup to work through (soccer, marathons, archery, roller derby, etc), and at the end, I could definitely feel a difference. My back has always been a solid brick, that's just normal for me. I'm down to just a couple knots now, which is fine and gives me a reason to go back and get those worked out. My husband enjoyed his massage from Tata (sp?). He mentioned that she had some crazy strong hands. We could have stayed longer to lounge around, but we ended up just getting dressed and heading home. It is a bit more expensive than other spas in the area, but for us, the convenient location and use of organics makes it worth it for us. When we were in the process of getting an appointment set up, there was a hiccup in communication, where we didn't receive a confirmation after approving a change in time. It was a menial inconvenience, since we're nearby my husband just swung by the spa and verbally got confirmation. We're definitely looking forward to going back and potentially trying their other services. read more

I normally do not give bad reviews, I will give a person a pass in case they are having a bad day but this place was something else. Their customer service rep at the front desk was rude, dismissive and the young lady hung up on me. I called back right away as I had an appointment that afternoon so I wanted to confirm and change the name of the guest that I was bringing with me. She apologized for hanging up, she couldn't hear me but for some reason heard me perfectly fine. She was short and essentially hung up on me again at the end of our conversation without a good bye. Upon arrival, I asked for the Manager and the Manager was also dismissive. They must've have spoken about the situation prior to my arrival. The Manager was probably worse! She would barely speak up, stare at me with a blank stare and not one smile. The massage was amazing and Natalie did a fantastic job but if you are looking for nice people to greet you up front, don't go there. read more

I hate having to leave this review. I came here for my first facial and i have sort of uneven skin tone and asked for help with that. And I was treated with a probiotic peel which burnt my face pretty badly. And the next day there big red blotches around my lips and nose. It took one week for the skin to scab and heal but now three weeks later i am left with really bad discoloration around those areas and have to use concealer everyday :(. I am really upset as you are supposed to have good skin after a facial but this really messed my face up. read more

My first here I had a foot massage by lunet, I think is how you spell her name and it wasn't that great. Sweet girl but talked too much and I just wanted to close my eyes and relax. I had a facial by Maria and this also was just ok... nothing special. She didn't take her time to do more extractions on my face and it just felt rushed. Had a relaxing time here. Laura, aesthetician, said she reshaped my face and I want to believe her. Pam, massage therapist, was also effective. Some areas I think could improve are having nicer sheet work done. Instead of hurrying and moving the sheets around me, gently do it instead. It's the little details like that that I enjoy. The women's sauna is great - right amount of heat and it's clean. However, it's small, like a large walk in closet size, but a very nice wooden walk in closet. I like a sauna that one can stretch around in, but this one's "cozier" as real estate agents say. The sauna is near the alley entrance and that's unfortunate if the alley door is open. The layout of the spa is a bit confusing but you get used to it. The quiet rooms would be nicer with some magazines. I LOVED the fruit that seemed to be everywhere - watermelon slices, apples, bananas, pineapple chunks. I wish the water had some flavor in it and the ice cold hand towels for the sauna had some aromatherapy in them -- just some little touches that would take this place to a 5 higher rating. Warning - this is a co-ed spa and the quiet areas are small, so don't go wandering around naked. There appear to be three restrooms with showers in them, all nicely designed an appointed but could use razors and better combs.I can see how at a busy time, there would be a shortage of restrooms. Overall, the design is relaxing with comfortable chairs and dim lighting. And the space seems very clean, which I liked. The massage tables were very comfy. I would return to have Pam and Laura work on me again. I give this place a 3.75/5. :) read more

Maria is the only person I trust to wax my legs. I have super difficult leg hair and am prone to ingrown hairs and any where else I go just doesn't take the time to get the really stubborn hairs. I drive all the way from Arcadia to come to RA Spa. I have also had a massage and bath here and it was lovely but I come here mostly for waxing and highly recommend it. read more

Beautiful spa, very intimate and excellent customer service! I came here for a prenatal massage after reading about them online, listed as one of the top 13 spas in LA. Christina was my masseuse and she was phenomenal! I would go back just for her. I also had a Mommy & Me bath, which was very relaxing. I loved the rose petals they put in the bath, made it feel so luxurious! The front desk was also a highlight. When I arrived they told me I'd booked for the following day, which I checked and realized they were right - my pregnancy brain caused me to go on the wrong day! I was only sad for a second though because they immediately said, "Don't you worry - we'll take care of you today." And they did, no hesitation. I will definitely return to this spa! read more

rA is my go to spa when i'm in need of some TLC that's good quality and a decent price. everyone who works there is very sweet, they almost always have same day availability, and as soon as you're inside it's easy to forget you are on the main street of downtown burbank. most recently i was in dire need of body work after an aggressive drive to and from arizona and was able to get an appointment within the hour for a deep tissue massage. the girl at the front desk promised me a therapist that was very good at deep tissue and she wasn't joking - ada was incredible. she had a thorough understanding of the body, she knew how and when to use pressure and checked in with me at the perfect frequency throughout the massage and i genuinely left feeling like a new person. not to mention the amazing facilities that have a sauna, tea, ice water, and fresh fruit before and after treatment! i don't often have a regular massage therapist but i will be making a point to see ada again! read more

Had a wonderful reflexology treatment today. I don't know who the therapist is but I will ask My legs were aching and my feet felt really stiff. This therapist knew without me telling her that one of my feet was a lot worse than the other so I really appreciated the extra time she spent. A few weeks ago I had a massage but it wasn't the usual great massage. The therapist compressed on my spine leaving me in really bad pain. This is the first time this has happened She was very nice but I don't think she was trained properly. MY back is sill suffering from that. I highly recommend Jasmine for massages. She was the one who did my massage the time before last and she was wonderful. I plan to go back for massages but will be careful who I ask for. This is really a wonderful place. read more

The space is nice but I had the worst deep tissue massage I've ever had in my life here. The first time I went here I got a Swedish massage which was just "ok" but the woman was probably 7-8 months pregnant and her belly hit my head and I could hear her belly rumbling. A woman has to work so I understand, but they could have asked if it's something I would be comfortable with. I recently booked a couples deep tissue, it was the worst and most painful experience. Only elbows were used the entire time. She would stretch my arm out, shove an elbow in my back and leave it there till my arm would tingle and go numb. The steps done on one side of my body did not match the other. She stretched my right leg and didn't stretch my left. I didn't say anything because based off of other reviews I knew they would refuse to use hands instead of elbows. It was a terrible experience and paying over 120 dollars for shit service sucks. It was a waste of money and time. It's been 3 full days and my back feels like I got beat up by a group of people. 5 star massage on olive is not fancy and doesn't have the same luxury but the massages there are great.
