Went to Raas, because I'm always interested in new foods to the area. I live locally in Georgetown and love new options. We had a table for four. The challenge started as soon as we arrived. The hostess-station is at the corner of what was the houses foyer. This makes for a cramped space as additional diners try to come in to be seated. We were sat for a reservation at a corner table with a bench seat and two chairs. We were greeted fairly promptly but we did comment to ourselves that it seemed a bit warm, but we assumed that the thermostat was outside where were sitting and the a/c would get going soon. We ordered a specialty cocktail (Bulleit Old fashioned) which incidentally was well crafted, 2 wines by the glass and a soda. Then things seemed to degenerate. We asked about the sharing of the small plates and if it was practical to share the large plates. Our waiter assured us that the menu was designed to have people share their plates and that four small plates and 3 large plates would be a great serving for four people. We ordered our food and then the waiting began. Nearly 35 minutes later the 4 small plates arrived, which included the Masala yogurt croquettes, stuffed mushrooms, tempura prawns and lamb kebab. All the dishes were well crafted and tasty but the timing seemed excessive as did the temperature of the space. We understand that this is an old house, as are many of the restaurants in Lewes. We also understand that volumes of people create heat, which the restaurant was nearly full when we sat at 7. However, considering that they just opened 5 days ago, you would have assumed that they would have stress tested their restaurant and packed it full to establish if their a/c would keep up under a full condition. Apparently they did not. I did not have a instant read thermometer with me but it was every bit of 80 degrees plus inside the restaurant. They do have seating on their porch, which given the temperature outside would have been a better option. We kept two menus to use as fans to attempt to mitigate, but that shouldn't be necessary. Now for the large plates. As I said earlier, we ordered all our small and large plates at the same time, so when it took 35 minutes to get small plates we assumed it was an anomaly, we were wrong. It took another 30 minutes to get the large plates, Biryani chicken, lamb Rogen josh and dal lalla musa. The food while very tasty was diminished by the skyrocketing temperature inside the restaurant as well as the complete ineptitude of our waiter. It was obviously a kitchen issue, but he couldn't figure out how to communicate that they were having some problems and makes any attempts to smooth this over. He seemed to be unable to do anything it avoid us. I have no idea what management was doing, or frankly if their was management on site. We are very easy people to get along with and we eat out at least 10 days a month. We are former restaurant employees in both the kitchen and the front of the house. We give everyone the benefit of an off nite. We didn't punish our waiter, he was tipped 20%, but we would advise caution here. It appears that they need a little more time to work out the kinks. The hostess needs to be much more adept at greeting and seating. Their waitstaff needs to be more familiar with all their wines and their dishes do that they don't look comfy when you ask questions about ingredients or taste profiles. They need to devise a solution to the ineffective a/c. I lived in a house just like this for 10 years, it's going to take some mini split systems to get the inside of this place to a temperature where you are not sitting and sweating. I know one of the owners is a cardiologist, but you should feel like you just completed a stress test by the time your entree arrives. It is great to have this cuisine as an option, and we will give them another chance, but we will wait a month or two and give them the opportunity to get themselves together read more

Ok let me start by saying I was not a fan of Indian food but I have heard so many good things about Raas I had to at least stop by and look at the menu which is posted outside this restaurant. While looking the menu over the Chef and owner came out and invited me in to take a look. He could not be a nicer and more engaging guy. So I tried to make a reservation that night but they were booked so I made it for the following week for my family and friends. Chef GG came to our table and explained that Indian food is not all about curry as was my perception. He gave us samples of four main sauces to try before we ordered. Long story short you really should try this place. Everyone loved there selections and it was a great culinary experience. It is affordable and a great experience. We will be back. read more

Would give a zero but didn't actually eat here. Tried to cancel a reservation 8 hours in advance, knowing as well they have every time available for a table. Gave me an issue, still will charge a large fee. I can't imagine what the service would be like here in the actual restaurant. read more

AMAZING. Food and service are fantastic. Staff is well versed in the menu and cuisine. Cocktails are delicious. Customizing the order is not only acceptable but welcomed. Vacationers in nearby Rehoboth (or even Bethany) should give Raas serious consideration for an outstanding dinner choice. If you are in Lewes this is a no brainer, absolutely can't miss meal. This charming Victorian house turned restaurant offers up some of the best Indian food in Delaware. The friendly staff is a welcome change to some of its snooty competitors in downtown Lewes. The menu changes often and features a combination of traditional and Asian fusion dishes, as well as an extensive wine and cocktail selection. Chef GG delightfully oversees the kitchen, where superb ingredients undergo an amazing transformation into delicious delicacies available in a variety of spices. Best of all, reservations are accepted, which makes Raas one of only a handful of venues in Lewes where waiting for a table isn't the only option. read more

I continue to be blown away by Raas and can't seem to get enough! The food is outstanding always, GG spends time making each dish (down to the sauce) from scratch and the care and freshness is apparent. Our favorite dishes include the honey chili water chestnut, dal lalla musa, curries, tikka masala and GG's dum biryani. The large dishes are served with rice, making them the perfect serving (and often enough for leftovers). And on top of everything, Raas has a fabulous atmosphere that is just as elegant as it is welcoming. read more

We reserved this restaurant same day. Lewes is a quaint town. The restaurant is mainly Indian and has such tasteful food. It's priced higher than most, but is is an elegant restaurant and our server, Curtis, was on point. I had the Butter Chicken and my husband had the Stir Fried Thai Chili Chicken. We also tried the Cauliflower Manchurian. Everything was excellent. I do think, though, the glass of wine prices could be a little bit lower. $18 for one glass is pricey compared to the dinner prices. All in all, it's an excellent restaurant. read more

New Indian and Pan Asian restaurant served up tremendous flavor and very innovative dishes. While we had a little wait for our table, the greeter seemed so concerned that we had to wait, it was quite endearing. Our server, Jason, was excellent. Having been with the place as it prepared to open he had in-depth knowledge of the menu, offered great recommendations, and provided great context about the restaurant. Enjoyed a lovely manhattan with cedar smoked glass. Appetizers of malai broccoli ( broccoli with yogurt and cardamom roasted in a clay oven) and keema pao (minced lamb with lentils and spices) were delicious. Our entrees (lamb Roganjosh and Thai green curry were both very good as well. Service was attentive. Food arrived quickly and was hot. This will be quite the place. Still working out a few kinks, but it's their first few weeks. Definitely will be back and recommend to others. read more

Some of the food was wonderful . . . but the eggplant appetizer had no flavor. The main problems were: - The server refused to provide separate checks and told us we'd just have to figure out how much everyone owed at the end. He also told us he wanted to bring the appetizers and main courses all to the table at the same time. We didn't ask for that, or want it that way. He announced that was the way it was going to be. - The prices are high . . . that would be OK except that I paid $14 for a rye and soda . . . and was charged an EXTRA $2 for the ice and $1 for the splash of soda. I'm not kidding. This is messed up, and a terrible business strategy. They brought in an extra $3 for something that no other restaurant would do but none of us will ever go back. We're a nice group of people, all of whom have worked in restaurants for decades, but I don't think other people in Lewes will be as nice. read more

Food was excellent but service was lacking. Our silverware was taken after appetizers and not replaced. Since server did not come back to check on us we had to eat main course with spoons. We needed more water but did not get offered any. I tried to get another servers attention who pretended not to hear me because we were not his table. Spectacular food. Beautifully prepared. We got take out from there and EVERYTHING was great. We got lots of vegetarian dishes--the cauliflower appetizer is fabulous. The dal and orka are great too. The place was packed despite having only been open for a few months, which is always a great sign. The food was good and we loved the atmosphere, as the restaurant is located in an old converted Victorian home. We tried a number of their small plates and highly recommend the Smoked Eggplant Chokha. It was so good we just kept ordering more! First trip to Raas . Lovely place and very friendly staff. Food was delicious and plate presentation was lovely ! Had Tempura Shrimp and they were lovely but the condiment offered with them was straight soy sauce. disappointing. The tandoori mahi was delicious and also the Tikka Chicken ! Definitely will be back... I'd love to see some more traditional side dishes like Daal Saag.. lentil and spinach curry dish I miss but this is a wonderful addition to the Delmarva peninsula!! My husband and I dined at Raas today in celebration of our wedding anniversary. We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! The food was outstanding...so flavorful, and beautifully presented. Chef GG explained the dishes and stopped by the table to check up on us. David waited on our table, and the service was great! Indian food as good as it gets. My family and I went to Raas last night and found it to be fabulous! I had the dal lalla musa (smoked lentils), my wife had amritsari stuffed kulcha (bread stuffed with cauliflower), my son had Cornish game hen, and we shared garlic naan. Went well with 2 glasses of pinot noir. Dessert was chocolate cake, rice pudding, and mango lassi. All delicious. Great atmosphere in the Queen Anne Victorian on Savannah Rd., near the center of Lewes. Great service, and the owner/chef GG Gupta stopped by our table for a chat. Treat yourself there sometime. I often forget to Yelp about a restaurant. This one deserves it! Went for my birthday. Food was excellent! Service was superb! The restaurant was very mindful of COVID-19 restrictions. We got the chef's special and tried to get a little of all the things that were different to us. I love the way they remodeled. (I used to go there when it was a spa.) Overall EXCELLENT! I placed a carry out order around 6:30pm today for pick-up at 7:15. The restaurant took it upon themselves to cancel the order without even contacting me. So I drove all the way to Lewes to get my dinner to be told by a very rude employee that they were "too busy" to make my food and they weren't required to let me know. I guess when you think you have the greatest restaurant on earth (because yelp said so), you can say to hell with customer service, right? Horrible business, horrible service. read more

We talked about some of the great restaurants in Indian that my wife and I have enjoyed on trips there and where he worked, which all led to him recommending some of his dishes on the menu and specials list. Great food and great people! We really enjoyed our time at Raas for our date night which isn't easy to do with a two month old in tow. They were very accommodating even without a reservation. I would make one next time, they were almost full on a Thursday night....and now I know why. The food is amazing! We had the eggplant (small plate) and the homemade garlic naan to start. Both so delicious and you can watch them make the naan through a large window overlooking the kitchen. For mains we shared the cauliflower and the Paneer tikka masala both were great. The cauliflower was cooked perfectly and the sauce was slightly sweet, my husband cleaned the plate with the left over naan. The Paneer tikka masala has some heat but not overbearing. We even had enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. We also got to meet the Chef's Mother who we adored! We will definitely be heading back soon!! read more

Me and my friends are on vacation here in Lewes, and were looking for a new experience. To say this was a good choice is an understatement. This was my first time having Indian food, and it was wonderful. But what really made my time at Raas was the service. The waiter went out of his way to make sure everything was right with us, and was in addition very polite and personable. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere. It goes without saying that I'll be back here the next time I come to Lewes, and I highly recommend anyone who visits or comes through Lewes to visit as well. read more

Chef GG never disappoints! The food at Raas is so delicious. My favorite in the Lewes/Rehoboth area. The samosas are to die for - that green sauce will make you slap anybody! Quite easily the best ribs, scallops, and mango lassi I've ever had. The owner and the wait staff were incredible. The atmosphere was homey.
