The service was excellent and you could not find a better environment for a perfect dinner. We were here 10 years ago for our anniversary and the quality and experience has not changed. Took my wife here while on vacation. Had a White Negroni with Scallops while my wife had a Gin and Tonic with seared tuna. Both the cocktails and entrees were exceptional. Atmosphere was perfect for the community. Our server, Perfecto, lived up to the his name and all staff were very accommodating and attentive. Perfect birthday celebration dinner. The charcuterie board was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. The pate and the fois gras on there were to die for. Every course a flavor blast. The board and the house made stracciatella apps followed by the house made black farfalle, then the banana peanut butter and the pumpkin butter cake. I asked the waiter how they don't have a Michelin Star. He said "I don't think we are in the right market for that" . Moving here from LA recently and enjoying my fair share of Michelin restaurants in my time, I'm 100% certain, if it were in any big city they would 100% have a star (or 2). Do not think twice about going here l. Don't worry about the price, it's worth it and hey, it's DE and no sales tax (I still can't get used to that). Well done everyone who works here. We came here party of two over the Fourth of July weekend. We had a late reservation at 8:45. We were immediately seated. We chose indoor dining just because it was so humid outside. We were greeted by a great waiter who went through the menu options and the drinks. The space itself was very lively and on the louder side. We started with an extra dirty martini and old-fashioned. The old-fashioned had unique ingredients, including a banana Liquor. This addition made it more on the sweet side than I would've preferred but nonetheless booze forward and good. We started with two appetizers, including the rabbit pierogi and the house pulled Burata cheese. The pierogies were cooked perfectly and tasted very good. They didn't have a game flavor and they came with a very light cream sauce. The Burata cheese was also soft and creamy and came with a house made jam. For entrées, we had the rockfish which was a nice light, white fish, smaller portion over a tomato broth. The fish was cooked perfectly and not dry. We also opted for the flank steak. This came to the table pre-sliced and was also cooked perfectly. They do have dessert options however we were so full from dinner. We were unable to have dessert. All in all, it was a great spot for a good meal. This spot is more on the expensive side and for a special occasion that has a romantic feel. This was our first time here. They open at 5 PM. We had a 5 PM reservation for my family of four. We met with my other two family members on 2nd Street parking lot just around the corner. Since we arrived early we walked around the shopping area. We arrived a few minutes before 5 PM. Other patrons arrived after us. We were the first to enter the restaurant. We were served in the first room to the left of the hostess. The table was not that large. The table was rather small for a table for four. I was disappointed with our table size, because we were not in a Manhattan restaurant. I started with my two Mai Tai's for $15 each or $30 total. I also enjoyed my octopus carpaccio appetizer with cucumber kimchi, blueberry aigre-doux, citrus chutney, za'atar & seed mix with fresno chili oil for $20. I always enjoyed octopus (or TACO) in Japan and the USA, but this was my first time experiencing octopus carpaccio. It was great. I highly recommend this cold appetizer. I also enjoyed my medium rare grilled flank steak with mojo marinated, Kennett trumpet & maitake mushrooms au gratin, pan roasted broccolini, duck ham jam and horseradish demi for $41 although the menu listed $39. They need to update their menu prices, which I could have disputed, but did not. My flank steak was properly cooked and tasted great, but I could not eat all of my five slices of flank steak, therefore I took half of my flank steak slices home for lunch tomorrow. We really enjoyed our dinner at Heirloom! The interior is very charming- you can tell it's a renovated house, so it feels very cozy (but there was still enough space between tables). We were seated near the bay window, which was a nice spot. The cocktail menu had five choices- I tried the basil gimlet, which was excellent. For starters, we had the beef and lamb hand pies, tuna tartare, burrata, and octopus. The beef and lamb hand pies were excellent- they were so flavorful and came with a really tasty sauce. Our table's favorite was the tuna tartare, which came in little blue corn cups- they actually weren't hard to cut and share. The octopus was also excellent, everything it came with on the plate was very flavorful. The burrata was good, but not as much of a standout as the others. Before our starters, we were also served sourdough bread with two butters (one was a plain salted and one was a blueberry butter)- the bread was nice and fresh and the blueberry butter was so delicious and different. Our entrées were the porcini rubbed steak, the chicken, and the basil and paprika pasta. The pasta was SO flavorful- more than I expected! It was cooked in lardo and it was a perfect fresh summer dish. The chicken was a bit tough, but came served with this absolutely delicious side of squash stuffed with black eyed peas- it was a little spicy and very different and really made the plate for me. The steak had a nice umami flavor because of the porcini rub and came with very good mashed potatoes. For dessert, the oatmeal cookie ice cream sandwich was excellent- it came served as almost a strip, so it actually was pretty easy to share. We also had the vanilla panna cotta, which was the only thing we really weren't fans of- it just didn't stand out and was served with very bittersweet chocolate shortbread. However, the standout was the espresso martini, which is listed on the menu as "the best espresso martini"- and they are right!! It really is the best I've ever had. There was a special menu of rosé wines, so we decided to try one of those with our dinner- it turned out to be a natural/organic wine, which I wish had been mentioned on the menu, because we don't usually order those and we weren't a huge fan of it. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and are excited to come back! The menu changes regularly (I think monthly), and you can tell they are very thoughtful with selecting seasonal options. read more

Always said this was one of my favorite restaurants....and it delivered tonight. Cocktails, right on; then stated with a charcuterie board and added a few cheeses...All so good, especially the foie gras (my favorite). We had a couple of red wines, bottles, a blend to start and then a Domaine La Barroche, good put a little thinner than the blend what we started with...All good. Entrees I had the stuffed fluke with pesto and asparagus...just ummm....Wifey had the stuffed filled pasta...very tasty; just my opinion needed a touch more fire on the pasta..but the flavors were there ... others had the pork chop..looked incredible...that was my second choice, next time. I was really looking forward to dessert, but no one ordered so I'll have to wait till next time. Looking forward to the flourless chocolate cheesecake . I've been to this restaurant a bunch of times and have noticed a decline in its original elegance and charm. The atmosphere is now ho-hum everywhere the same. The food has been good over the years. But, I see a decline in creativity there as well. Although, not without some delicious surprising counter-examples. We've become less inclined to visit. The owner/manager has shown herself to be pretentious, immature, judgmental, and hyper-reactive to client comments/suggestions. Myself included. I had a seriously horrible experience with her. I will never return. After posting this. I decided to check other reviews because I don't like giving bad reviews. It's amazing how many people had a bad experience with the owner/hostless (misspelling on purpose), many with the cancelation policy - but also much more. Check it out. And make sure to see many of her surly replies. What business owner does that? This is a reply to the owner's comment to me. It is completely untrue. She's now making up lies. I didn't go to her restaurant those dates (never two days in a row for sure). When I was there, I wasn't rude to her staff. They were fine and agreeable to us. My previous visits were just fine and enjoyable. Yes, I said the food and decor was in decline, which it is, but I did not say it was horrible or that the staff and I had issues. The issue is her. She decided to cancel my reservation because I questioned her system of frequent reconfirmations to hold the reservation despite a $50 deposit (I believe there were four). That's it folks. I called her back because she got mad and hung up on me. I want'ed to understand and explain. Then she hung up again. Very Good!!!! Started with Dirty Martini...... very good with the best Blue Cheese stuffed Olives I've had in a long time..... Wife had a Manhatten that was also very good..... Sourdough Bread (yes they brought bread without asking or charging for) and came with two soft butters. One butter was regular and one was a strawberry based butter... Appys.... We had the Blue Cheese Board, which was AMAZING!!!! And we also had the Grilled Octopus, which was also great!!!!! Main course..... My wife had the Lamb, which was not served like she expected (shredded), but once again fell in line with everything that we had so far and was great!!!!! And I had the Pork Chop, which was cooked to perfection (I don't like any red in my Meats and lots of restaurants don't know hoot cook that way and dry out the meat), but this was juicy and tender and just unbelievable!!!!!! Nor are they marked for any dietary restrictions. The servers are straightforward, friendly, and helpful with recommendations. There were no dessert items that were gluten free the third time I've went. Staff were super friendly. The venison tasted exactly like the duck, but the sauces were good. We ate here on October 18, 2025 while in town to celebrate our anniversary and to scout the area as a possible retirment location. We are from MD originally and worked in the food service and hospitality industry in Ocean City, MD many years ago. We booked at Heirloom on various positive recommendations but we were extremely disappointed in our experience here. First, the service was terrible. Our server was rushed, gave us no attention at all, and we generally felt like we were an afterthought. The location - an old house - was charming. But the decor - a basic wooden tabletop with no tablecloth, and department store silverware and plates were pretty basic. We ordered a cheese tray which was good. I ordered the scallops with risotto and my husband ordered the steak. The risotto was lukewarm, bland, and pasty. The scallops were salty and generally average. The steak was fine. Based on our main meal, we chose not to order dessert and to leave early. We were there for all of an hour. At $43 average per meal, the experience was very poor. We will not eat here again. The restaurant adds on a credit card fee to your bill, by the way, before you even let them know how you'll be paying. $4.50 extra on an already overpriced meal. How tacky. We will not recommend this restaurant to friends who live in DE and MD, and frequent Rehoboth often. There are so many better places to go. read more

I had the New England Halibut, which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Heirloom Veggie Bowl, amazing farm to table. We shared the Kennett Square mushroom mix highly recommend. Such a cute, quaint house turned into a restaurant. From the decor to the meal it was an amazing dining experience! It has a rustic, flowery vibe. I definitely recommend making reservations. We got the tomato toast which is super fresh, it doesn't have too much tomato, toast was fresh and warm, and it is pretty big portion definitely recommend . We also got the cheese board from Unionville, like half of the cheeses were good and half were average. The homemade crackers with it were really good and crunchy, I do think it's expensive for what you get. We got Mai tai which was really good and strong. For our main courses we got the steak, pork chop, veggie bowl, and ravioli and we all loved our dishes! We decided to revisit Heirloom after the busy summer season last evening, and left disappointed and dissatisfied. It was not a particularly busy Friday evening, but we were met with 'friendly' admonition that we had 1:45 hours to complete the dining experience. From the start , service coordination was poor and most of the wait staff appeared young and ever so inexperienced. Martini had to be sent back, cheese plate and appetizers brought out simultaneously, as we were commanded to order all our food at once. Of course this led to a food backup with cold food as a result. The ravioli with corn arrived cold, and so salty that it could not be eaten. Tried coffee and dessert and honestly, no improvement. We have been to Heirloom on many occasion, but last evening missed at every turn. Now that it's time for the locals to return, perhaps get back in the game! read more

My wife has wanted to try heirloom for a coupel of years and tonight we finally made it happen for her birthday. I dont get why this place is so well reviewed. On the positive side, staff are friendly and our server was attentive. The place is quaint but acoustics are bad ( it's loud). The basil Gimlet was too sweet. The bottled beer was not cold. Octopus was fishy tasting and only masked by whatever preserve they topped it with. Mixed green salad was nothing special. The charcuterie board was just ok. I love Heirloom! Have been here twice over the past year and I have enjoyed it overall. The cocktails are great. One time I had the Heirloom Dirty and it was off - not sure what happened there but was assured it was an odd night. And it was because the next time around it was terrific! I still dream of the soft shell crab dinner special I had last summer: Was hoping that they'd have the same this year, but sadly there were no specials at all on offer, and we dined on a Saturday night in the height of summer. The burrata/stone fruit salad was great and generously portioned. The rockfish rocked! The octopus carpaccio was ok as was the s'more dessert was just ok. The service is warm and friendly but I was perplexed why our salad/bread plates and empty cocktail glasses were not bussed for the entire meal. Had a delicious birthday meal here. Walking in we enjoyed the sun kissed interior and the fresh garden and nature inspired decor. The menu featured seasonal ingredients- I had a pea shoot, radish, and spinach salad to start and enjoyed the pea shoots and the buttermilk dressing. My entree was the house made ravioli filled with dill and goat cheese. Super enjoyed the puff mushrooms which had a chickeny juicy texture and the slices of garlic with romanesco cauliflower. My husband got the mahi mahi with Carolina rice porridge and shiitake- tons of umami flavor in this dish with perfectly juicy fish. We ended the meal with the carrot walnut blondie topped with the most decadent buttercream on which nested some soaked dried cherries and golden raisins. Truly could have eaten just a cup full of the buttercream and fruit topping. Husband had the blue cornmeal pound cake. The contrast between the toothy almost savory cornmeal, sweet cream and sour lemon curd was excellent. I enjoyed my blood orange spritzer very much. We vacation in OC MD every summer but always do a shopping day trip to Rehoboth beach. I like to try to eat dinner too sometimes but usually we're done shopping before it's dinner time. This year we went shopping later in the afternoon and did dinner afterwards. We didn't think we were going to make it here because you have to make reservations in advance for here. i ended up snagging an outdoor patio table reservation on our way to Rehoboth. ( I think it said patio tables open up the day of) I wanted an indoor reservation but I was happy we just got a table. When we arrived we overheard a couple that had a reservation for indoors that wanted to sit outdoors- so we swapped with them! I'm glad we did , it was decorated very nice inside it's an old Victorian house with a lot of floral decor and white lights. It was very cozy. I was debating if I wanted to get the scallops or not - but I'm glad I did! Everything went perfectly together- the scallops were seared nicely and the puree that went with it complimented it- I forget what kind it was. I also ordered a drink and it was in a cute tiki glass with an umbrella. My husband got corn ravioli and they ran out shortly afterwards. It was good but it didn't have any much corn flavor as I was expecting. Usually he picks the better entree but I picked the better choice this time. This was the first time we ate at Heirloom since moving to Lewes The place is quite charming, in an old Victorian house. The server was delightful. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The for was excellent. It would have been a perfect evening save one thing. About midway through our meal a woman is seated at the table next to us. A table for 4. Next thing we know a very loud, clearly drunk man comes in yelling "where's my wife". The woman, clearly used to this behavior removes him to the bar to reduce the rest of us from thee loud behavior. Then they return and the others in his party join them. His loud and rude behavior continues only this time nothing is done.. Not only that but the hostess , who clearly knows them, goes over to chat with them. On leaving I Tod her that he was drunk and quite rude. She defends him by telling me he's not drunk and he is "good people"! If the hostess was doing her job she'd have asked him to either tone it down or leave. It ruined a perfectly wonderful experience. Obviously being one of the good ole boys exempts you from decent behavior in this town. read more

This is a 4.5 star place to me. We had reservations for my birthday, but while driving to Delaware, my wife found a reservation that night for outside patio dining. We took the reservation and showed up. Sadly, I was dressed for some casual boardwalk dining, but it was good enough to dine at Heirloom. As we were at the hostess stand, the couple in front of us wanted to dine outside. They were told there was no outside seating available, but my wife was willing to swap with them. We were then seated inside. Service was a 5 here, although I wasn't too happy with the smallest water glass I've ever been offered in my life. The team was somewhat decent at refilling it, but I had to hold off on drinking from the glass so that I would have water when I wanted it. The food was pretty good. My wife's scallop dish was one of the best meals of our vacation. Clearly the best choice on the menu. I had the corn ravioli and it was good, but a bit disappointing as I was missing some of the corn flavors I absolutely love in corn ravioli. I prefer corn overload. Like boil the corn husks and then cook the ravioli in that corn stock. I felt the corn on the inside was muddled by the cheese flavors and didn't get a chance to shine. Our server was fantastic though, friendly, pleasant and that carries a lot as well. A great meal and an introduction to Lewes, a place we drive by but have never visited. read more

We visit Lewes every year and this was our first time at Heirloom, but it will not the last! I may even say the best meal we've had in Downtown Lewes and Rehoboth generally. We sat at the bar which was lovely - both bartenders were very kind and attentive. We received complimentary sourdough with their homemade butter (to die for!) plus special roasted red pepper butter. We started with the grilled octopus and a special which was local tomatoes, feta and some type of glaze. Truly some of the best tomatoes I've ever eaten. The octopus and whatever sauce came with it was amazing. I had the scallops with a corn salad which was amazing and my fiancé had the pork loin which was cooked perfectly! With every course each one showed the care of these chefs. I just want to say thank you. We sat for a late evening dinner in August here celebrating the last of of summer here. Everything from the kind and attentive staff who were so knowledgeable and the careful selection of ingredients makes us so proud of what this local region has to offer. The servers almost all looked like they were teenagers, but were polite and attentive. We had the octopus that others have raved about (not one long tentacle, but chopped like a delicious octopus salad), the mushroom side, tilefish and steak.
