Never impressive. More like "well, they're open & not terrible. Let's do it." And that is no small niche to have filled. This description fits most of the "American Chinese" grub joints in the area. None are great, but some really blow, and I don't mean in the good Las Vegas way. Can anyone make Hot n Sour soup that is consistent, that's HOT, that isn't watered down close to closing time making it taste even more like sweetish non-descriptive gerbil piss?! The now-defunct Vietnamese PHO joint on Rt 1 in Rehomo (same strip mall as the over-priced, over-rated, over-IT Rosenfeld's Deli - Oy vey!), was the exception. Fantastic, genuine, ABOVE-PAR cuisine. While they were priced a bit higher than most pho joints, they were the ONLY pho joint here AND one look & taste at their cuts of meat told you, you were getting what you paid for..... super premium product at a premium price. I am gluten sensitive and this restaurant does not have gluten free soy sauce on a regular basis so my choices are limited, BUT they have a fairly extensive menu with the understanding that little of it is really Chinese food. It is mostly Chinese-American or maybe even American-Chinese. I've been carrying out from this place every time I've been at the Delaware shore for decades and NEVER been disappointed. This past week, I carried out Lake Tung Ting Shrimp. HUGE, fresh shrimp and lots of them, mixed with mostly American veggies in a white sauce with egg whites stirred in. It is well prepared in this restaurant and reasonable priced especially when you consider the size, number and freshness of the Shrimp (compare with my contemporary review of the horrible La Tonalteca Shrimp Fajitas). It was NOT grossly salty nor oily. It was tasty and the broccoli was done perfectly. BTW, the people who run the place are friendly and try to be helpful when a customer has food sensitivities as I do. read more

Had Hunan Chinese a few days ago and it was just awful. The seafood dish was semi-edible and the broccoli stems, or whatever those chunks were, were as hard as rocks. The "Cold Sesame Noodles" were heated up with an off flavor like leftover food put in a microwave and it's supposed to be served COLD - ergo the title. The Szechuan Noodles were literally uncooked raw green beans with some flimsy sauce sprayed or soaked in. I had exactly 1 green bean and couldn't eat the rest. Take out order: All were surprisingly delicious. This is not my first visit to Hunan. Fried Chicken Wings were fresh, meaty and enormous. Posted as a house special, it's enough for a satisfying meal with 4 wings at $7.25 The Moo Goo Gai Pan was very good. Seasoned well and very flavorful. Vegetable Lo Mein. Very good. Two winners...House Special Chop Suey. WOW! I'm ordering this dish every time from now on. AND the Coconut Shrimp!! Large shrimp and plenty of them. Nice crispy coat and very fresh tasting. Note: This was a Sunday order at 4 PM. Probably the best we have had at this place since we have had some dishes that were disappointing at other times. This is the first time I have ordered Chinese food in Rehoboth. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. Being in Delaware, I was hoping that the Crab Rangoon would actually have crab meat. Got an order to go.... got in less than 30 minutes. Vegetable fried rice, beef and snow peas but asked to add mushrooms, large fried shrimp appetizer. Rice was phenomenal very in greasy, vegetables fresh with crisp. Fried shrimp were really big and not tough at all. Beef and snow peas not a hint of gristle, lots of fresh mushrooms.... well done. This is a perfectly good take-out Chinese restaurant. I especially liked it because they had tons of vegan and vegetarian options, like vegetarian general tso's chicken. We also got the veggie lo mein and vegetarian chicken and veggies, which was loaded with veggies. I was sort of surprised how poor some of the reviews were for this place. It was delicious and definitely hit the spot. The biggest issue is they were out of tofu, but that's not surprising since there's a national tofu shortage right now. Seriously, give this place a try. I was nervous due to some of the bad reviews but I took into consideration the negative comments were mainly about the service, not the good. Since I was doing carryout I took my chances and decided to try it, anyway. It took about 10 minutes to prepare the shrimp lo mein and it was the best Chinese food I have had in a long time. I shared it with my family and they also agreed. We will definitely be back before our vacation is over, and will certainly visit in the years to come. read more

NEVER eating here again. Came in late, Open sign was still on. I asked if they were still open. The lady that runs it said yes, the man was out front. I ordered and they left the 3 young guys in the back to cook my food. I watched as one of them sneezed into his hand and then threw whatever into my food. The other guys laughed. Then they realized I saw them. I knew it was my word against theres, no proof. I just paid and left and threw it away. So disgusting! I will preface my review by stating that in the 4 years I have used Yelp, this is my very first "Review." This was my order: Beef & Broccoli combination platter (EXTRA SPICY) Small order of BBQ Ribs 16oz. Ginger Ale Total: $17.70 + 5.00 tip for delivery to the hotel 3 blocks away I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I was when I sat down and tasted my food. IT WAS COLD. ALL OF IT WAS COLD!!!!! I got dressed, drove to the restaurant and explained the situation to the manager/owner. She opened the food container with the beef & broccoli, removed the beef and used it to make me a fresh batch. She stated that beef was $7.00/lb. and she didn't want to waste it!!! What? She then took my ribs that I bit into and threw them back into the "Pot" to reheat them. I'll say it again, she took the food that I ate from a few moments ago and reheated them in the same utensils they make everyone else's food. So, my saliva will forever be a part of this place. In addition, the man who "reheated" my ribs dropped the cap to the bottle that contained the bbq sauce on the floor only to pick it up and place it on the bottle. NO rinsing it off, no wiping it. Also, the packages I returned containing the broccoli and pork fried rice was not thrown away. She left it on the counter behind the cooks. Now I ask you, why would she be saving this? Why not throw it away immediately? ANSWER: Based on the previous 5 minutes one would have to assume she intended to use it for another order. In closing, if you don't mind other customers half eaten food being reheated in the same pots and pans, if you don't mind eating at a place where they drop things on the floor and reuse it again without cleaning it, if you don't mind horrible customer service, then by all means, ENJOY!!!!!!! Gave them three because the food is delicious! However! I arrived at work and my senior client that I care for wanted to order delivery. I called and told her I wanted to place and order for delivery. She asked and I told her my order. She asked me to hold on and placed me on hold for about a minute(no issue) she came back and said is that it. Well my client I care for says ask for cashews. I tried to ask for them and she said what's that? We don't have cashews. Hello hello??? I said yes hold on I'm trying to understand what she saying. She hangs up on me. I called back and said yes I was placing and order asked you to hold on and you hung up. She said yes cause I hear nothing, you say nothing. I said ok well I was trying to figure out what she wanted. So then I give her the address and she says ok is that it? Me thinking she meant food wise I said yes. She just hangs up on me. I hadn't paid yet, she didn't ask if I was paying cash or card and didn't even give me an estimated time like usual. I called back and said yes you hung up on me again. She said oh YOU SAID YOU WERE DONE AND I SAID OK. THAT WAS IT WHAT YOU WANT NOW?!!! I said well I didn't pay. Instead of listening to me you got an attitude and are being very rude. She starts yelling at me! I mean yelling. I refused to listen to it and hung up the phone. Food shows up in decent amount of time. Guy says that's the owner i spoke to. I went to give him my clients card and he said cards are paid over the phone. I said well if she would have stopped hollering and listened to me she would have figured out that's what I was trying to do after she already hung up on me. I was calling back for payment. But I was not going to listen to someone yell at me. I am not that kind of person and have never had a run in like this before. I had the delivery driver call with the card info because I refused to even speak to her. I had never eaten there before and the food was actually very good. But because of the owners extremely poor attitude I will never eat there or suggest it to anyone. Best Chinese takeout in the area, hands down. We've been going here for years and the food is still non-greasy, generously portioned, cheap, and most importantly delicious. The people who run the restaurant are always so wonderful and friendly too. There's not much of a seating area but really that is not the most important part of a takeout restaurant. Take it home and enjoy with some Ben & Jerry's! For fellow vegetarians I recommend the family style bean curd - ask for it with garlic sauce :-) read more

I love Chinese food and have grown up eating it from many restaurants... And I can say without a doubt Hunan is the best I've experienced. Their portions are very generous, the food flavorful and not greasy, and the woman who works at the front is so very sweet and friendly. Good Chinese food at great prices. We just finished dinner. The steamed vegetable dumplings had dough of the right texture: a bit sticky but not gummy. For 26.00 we got a large wonton soup ,chicken and garlic sauce combo platter, fried wonton's, 2 orders of dumplings and the combo came with fried rice and an eggroll. 2 of us ate off the food for 2 days. The dumplings were my favorite. They get a 5 star. The dumpling sauce had a great flavor. One order had some type of peanut sauce on it which were also good but the plain are better. The wonton soup was really good too. Only giving 3 stars because the eggroll was mostly cabbage and chicken and garlic sauce was lacking on flavor and chicken. I wouldn't get that dish again but would come back for dumplings and try something else. read more

Drove to Hing Wang only to find it closed - so on the way back to Rehoboth we decide to stop at Hunan - big mistake! I should have followed my first instinct and walked out - but, noooooo - ordered hot & sour soup - it was OK at best - Hunan chicken, not at all spicy - glad we took some hot mustard - mediocre at best - rice was way too soft and mushy - like it had spent the day in the steamer with more water added as needed - now the bad part! After ordering - looked around - so the food pictures are all faded - no apparent uncleanliness - unless you look up over the counter - the duct return is completely covered in filth - took our order and hurried home - we have eaten what we could of our dinner - and now both experiencing some intestinal distress - not going to blame this on Hunan - but you can rest assured, one visit is more than enough - there are several other options. read more

One of our best meals here in Rohoboth! The Szechuan Beef was amazing. Finally a Chinese restaurant that is not afraid to kick it up in the spice department. Won ton soup and egg roll was also tasty. The orange chicken has a good flavor, but no heat! The broccoli in both dishes was prepared just the way I like it. With a crunch, but not loaded down with oil. Definitely recommend!! read more
