The best Indian place in New York Metropolitan Area! Food is such that every dish has its own spicy flavor! We had roasted beets appetizer with mango sauce. What a discovery! Crispy crust, like in a good falafel and inside is a savory, tender minced beets. My lamb shank was a heaven! Meat was melting in my mouth and sauce with basmati rice was outstanding! It took a moment to be seated - or even greeted - but we flagged someone down and were provided a table. The hostess and waitstaff acted as though we were bothering them - somewhat rude and very inattentive. They took a long time to take our order and it took even more time to receive a cocktail let alone food. When we did, the order was incorrect. We had to wait yet again! The flavor profiles were delicious but the proteins themselves were either bland or had a consistency that was off in comparison to other restaurants and the same dish. Chicken was hard to describe, hard or not 100% chicken, lamb was bland - watery as though it was steamed or thawed out. The samosas were great as were the drinks and considering the lack of hospitality I should have stopped there and went elsewhere. My first time experience was great. I went in here on a Sunday afternoon without great expectations. Most Indian places have a buffet on weekends with a lot of choices but often lacking in quality. This one was the opposite - few things to choose from but good quality and flavor of the food (it was somewhere in between buffet and a la carte). Daal was very tasty; tandoori chicken had been well marinated before grilling; lamb had the appropriate texture and flavor. I hope I don't need to revise my review upon a second visit. read more

Food is very good, service is extremely poor. Tables of 6 or more include a 20% gratuity, so the servers feel very entitled and don't really care about service. Yummy yummy Biryani! I usually go with my tried and true staples of Indian cuisine, any type of saag or tikka masala but I decided to be adventurous (ha ha) and step outside my comfort zone. What a lovely spot. This restaurant has welcoming vibe, cool decor. Friendly and professional wait staff. They provided great recommendations. We love Indian food. Everything we ordered was done well. The portions are ample. We had the beet appetizer with a lovely chutney sauce to accompany it, wonderful complument. We also had the lamb Kole the lamb was so tender with a fabulous herb seasoning. The best butter chicken ever. I cannot believe I have not yet reviewed this place! It has become our favorite Indian restaurant in this area. Of course, you can go to Jackson Heights and expect more, but for Westchester, it is a very good place. We love chicken tikka masala, malai kofta. When you ask for mild spice, the restaurant actually observe our request and make them mild without making the food tasteless. The service is pretty good and the parking is plenty. We have enjoyed meals at Raasa since they opened. The restaurant is attractive, the service is fine and the food is uniformly excellent. When it came time for a recent important birthday, we decided to have Raasa cater our dinner for 20 people. It was a total success! Not only was the food excellent, but Ashok, the owner came to help deliver it personally and make sure everything was perfect. Our guests raved about the dishes and condiments. Went to Raass again for a birthday dinner. This time my 10 year old nephew's choice. He's so smart. 5 different dishes. All delicious. Lots of different naan. And a delicious glass of reisling. Loved Raasa! Took my friends here who had never tried Indian food before and they both loved it! The food is fresh and flavorful and they are true to adjusting the spice level to your palate. They made mild dishes for my friends and spicy for me -perfectly on point. We had chicken tikka masala which is a classic British/Indian dish featuring succulent pieces of chicken in a thick tomato cream gravy and biryani which is a layered, seasoned rice dish steamed to perfection. I came here with a large group of coworkers to throw a farewell dinner. One coworker worked very closely with the restaurant about 2 weeks prior to the event so that they would know exactly what to expect. We had originally wanted a buffet and we promised 20 ppl but the restaurant would not accommodate that so we settled for a "family style" meal. We had to tell them a week in advance exactly how many ppl to expect and we had to pay for the promised amount of people regardless if they showed up or not. The restaurant was ok with providing individual plates of appetizers so that only the dinner would be family style. I would've been ok with just the appetizer-the food was great. Everything started to go downhill afterwards. When the dinner was served they told us that they had more food in the kitchen and we should request if we want anymore of a certain dish...um what??? If we paid for this food shouldn't you bring it out and we can take our leftovers home? We paid about $40/person and I was surprised that they expected us to request more food. The other reason I deducted stars was because by the end of the night they were trying to kick our group out of the restaurant. They were aware that 20 ppl would be there and they didn't really have a separate place for us. I can understand that we were loud but maybe they should have arranged it a bit better?
