I was a patron of the restaurant last week and found the food to be very good, but quite surprised to see a lack of restaurant management and overall cleanliness. I was shown to a table that had food on the chair and crumbs on the floor, which the waiter noticed but did not attempt to wipe for me. The windows need cleaning on the inside and outside as well as a good floor washing. My waiter was very pleasant but seemed overwhelmed with handling the 6-7 tables, which he was also bussing, as well as managing the cash register / credit card processing. I tried to reach out to the restaurant to share this information with them via their email but it bounced back. A thorough cleaning of the room as well as a host to greet and seat the customer, a bus person to clear plates and a person to manage the payment would bring this restaurant up to a 5 star rating. read more

I stopped by Raasa for their $16 lunch buffet. Although a little pricey for lunch time, their selection was good. I liked the chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala and the vegetable pakoras a lot. The food here is AMAZING! I ordered the lasoni gobi which is fried cauliflower and it was delicious. A little spicy but not overwhelming. We have come to this restaurant several times and today at the lunch buffet had an awful experience. My first bite into the Jaiphur chicken discovered it was about 95% RAW! I alerted the waiter who didn't understand and brought another waiter over. I told him and he simply took my plate away. No apology, no concern. The female manager didn't come to my table. Nothing else was said or done! This was such a blatant health & safety violation and I couldn't believe their lack of customer service or even lack of concern over a health violation. Normally we come because it's location is on our way even though the food is about 2.5 stars. Usually the meat is a little dry & overcooked but it isn't too dry since they then put it in a simmer sauce. Vegetable variety is only ok. They offer the same 2 desserts at the buffet as well. The highlight is usually their naan bread. However, with this raw chicken being served we definitely will never come again. read more

Thanks Yelp for a solid Indian recommendation near my job. Met up with a friend for dinner and were seated right away. Started with my favorite Indian app, Lasoni Gobi. Hit the spot. I think my friend was a fan also, she'd never tried it before. For entrees we both got chicken dishes and shared garlic naan. I got the Korma which was very good, I like that they ask you what spice level you want when ordering, Korma is usually on the mild side so I kicked it up a notch and asked for medium. I was initially worried we didn't have enough rice but when they put it down they said if you need more to just ask. I will be back! read more

Came here for lunch on Saturday. They have the regular weekday appetizer buffet and order your main entry set up on Saturday. For appetizer, they have a good selection of salad, vegetable fritters, beets fritters, tandoori chicken, and corn soup. I had lamb biryani and my husband had chicken tikka masala for entree. Chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken are one of the best we had among all the Indian food we had. The portion of the entree is a bit small but it made up with the all you can eat appetizer. Came here for the first time a few days ago. The waiter approached us and just stood there with an angry expression on his face. He didn't say a single word. Just stood there glaring. No hello, nothing. It's too bad the food is good because the service was embarrassing to say the least. He was the waiter with the small ponytail, appeared middle aged. We nearly left after this. He stood there with a note pad in hand- took our orders without a word and left. Man, I don't know about this place. We had high hopes just because of some of the picture we saw on Yelp. Being Indian, we have a fairly good idea of how Indian restaurants present themselves. Usually, the decor is nothing to laud over- it's boring, dark, and just blah. Raasa is the opposite. It's actually decorated in a simple yet modern way. They even use mason jars, like they do for sweet tea in the south which, for an Indian restaurant, is unique. Whoever decorated Raasa deserves credit for building a welcoming Indian restaurant. That is where anything that resembles hype over a new Indian joint ends. The food is quite bland, standard, and just tired. Again, we were expecting a menu to match the decor- like modern Indian or something. It just wasn't. We went for the lunch buffet. We got there around 1:30. There was only one other customer dining. We were confused since every other drab Indian restaurant we've ever been to always had a decent lunch crowd no matter the day. The buffet line up is sparse to say the least. The had two meat dishes and about 4 veggie dishes. They bring you tandoori chicken, naan. and masala dosa to the table. I didn't try the tandoori chicken but my wife thought it was alright but rather dry. The naan was nothing to write home about. The masala dosa was embarrassing. We're South Indian- which means dosas are part of our staple cuisine. This just wasn't acceptable and quite honestly- it just shouldn't be offered if it's not made right. We ordered a mango lassi which we thought was good. They had one dessert option- a sorry vat of rice pudding. We didn't even bother with it. Other stupid things that happened were the manager (or someone who resembled a manager) just hovering around the buffet station. It made it uncomfortable for us. We felt like he was watching everything we were putting on our plate. He was sort of grumpy as well. The other strange thing was that there were two people in the corner on their laptops. They appeared as though they worked there- maybe even the owners? They may have been computing numbers for the restaurant- who knows. They weren't eating so I have to assume this to be the case. If so, that's just unprofessional and so typically Indian. Doy our work out out of the sight of customers. Part of the dining experience is to NOT have to see ridiculous things like that. Finally, we noticed kitchen workers coming out of the kitchen and partaking in the food. They close at 2:30 and reopen at 5. Couldn't the workers have waited until after we left? Is that REALLY the right thing to do here? The people that run Indian restaurants will never make sense to me. Overall- a nicely appointed Indian restaurant with a sub-par buffet line up and quirky management/ownership habits. Will we be back? Nah but if you're going- prove us wrong. read more

Wanted to try this place since it was renovated and ownership changed. I am Indian and I look for quality Indian food. Went here on a Sunday. Weekend Special buffet. $15. Which is usually the case because it's the weekend and several more items are added then the regular weekday buffet. Food : I liked the chicken tikka. Other then that there weren't many options. Rice and two meats and 3 vegetarian dishes. All tasted average at best. My main complaint is the fact they only had about 8 dishes including desserts. For the money you pay that's a joke. If the food was amazing maybe then I would reconsider but nothing tasted good enough to ever come again. Service : another huge problem was service. Waited 30 mins for water. 15 mins for simple utensils. Never got my water refilled. Nan and masala dosas came About an hour into sitting there when we were done with our food. Had to ask for plates to get desserts. Waited 15 mins for the check then had to approach one of the guys to get it. Coming from an actual Indian person don't waste your time here. Terrible service. Food isn't great. There is another Indian restaurant called Royal Palace down he street or go to my favorite Spice Village in Tuckahoe for quality Indian food. read more

Very disappointed with food and here is why. This restaurant started with the new name "Raassa" after being "Malabar Hill" for years. We went there thinking things will be the same, but we were wrong. To start with, we went there for lunch buffet during a weekday. 1) Not enough food - There was not enough food in the trays, so when go to take them, the tray is empty. Then i had to ask the server to fill in the food and he brings in a small container (enough for 5 or 6 people) and that food will disappear in 5 - 10 minutes. Then it will take them another 10 minutes to refill the tray's and this cycle continued through out the duration with almost all the items. 2) Only two non veg - Lamb vindaloo & Chicken Tikka Masala. They will bring a complimentary tandoori chicken to each table (one per person is the count) and they wont ask if you want more if the plate is finished. Taste of all three items here are marginal at best. 3) The complimentary Masala Dosa had no Masala inside plus it had no taste. I went to get some "sambar" to eat with the Masala Dosa and that tray was empty and they did not have any chutney either. So you are forced to eat this without any sides. 4) Only one desert Rasagula - that was not even sweet and it looks like they added water for the gravy as it was so thin. Overall it is definitely not worthed to go to this place and i wont definitely come back. read more

I went to RaaSa for the lunch buffet last Friday. I was there a little after noon, and the place was empty. Several workers but no one seemed to be doing much except preparing a few take out boxes. The buffet was not impressive. All the spicing was very similar. I tried every dish and not one was tasty or enjoyable, at all. Even the hot, fresh baked naan was flavorless, and completely soggy, drowned in ghee/butter. Even when I asked for more naan without ghee, it was still soggy. I can honestly say that out of 40 years of eating Indian food, and visiting India, this was the most boring Indian food I have ever had. I have had worse, but never as boring. After about 1-2 tastes of each and every dish, I went elsewhere for something tasty to fill up on. Although they did have a tangerine, with maybe coconut?, pudding that was very nice for the first few bites, before the flavor started to fade away and an unappealing bitterness set in. (And I like bitter flavors in general.) Why does Westchester have such mediocre Indian cuisine? read more

We just had a private event for my father in laws 75th surprise birthday and we had a great experience. We came from 2-5 which is when they aren't usually open so we had the place almost to ourselves. The owner was very nice and they worked very hard to make sure we were happy and they all demands were met. The restaurant decor is very nice and bright. It doesn't feel like most Indian restaurants which are usually dark and not very modern. The most important part, the food. The food was very good. We had a buffet for our 50 person party and I thought all of it was excellent. Highly recommended if you would like an Indian restaurant for a big party or just a meal. read more

My family has been going here for a couple of years now. We saw the name change and would often get food delivered to our home. Now since it has become " Raasa", you must order a 50$ minimum to deliver three miles away! I think that is absurd! Nice Indian restaurant. Our famous ex president Bill Clinton used to dine here before he became vegan.. Great chicken and beef tandoori and authentic Indian lis ong rice and onion bread is served hot and fresh. the restaurant a bit pricey but service is great so as they say you get what you pay for. read more

I went on Valentine's Day me an My wife our reservation was at 8:00 pm we got to the restaurant at 7:58pm. We placed an order for appetizer. We ordered two an only one was bought out an then they bought the other one 15 minutes later mind you we ordered the same thing after 15 more minutes we started complaining an we was told our food would be right out it's 9:00 pm now the food comes out an the waiter give the food to the table next to us who came in 30 minutes after us. We ask the manager what's going on he went in the kitchen came back out an said our food was give to the wrong table we ask for the check an the manager went back in the kitchen an never came back out the waiter came with the check for the full price. My wife told him we only got two appetizer an he bought a bill for the two no sorry an no one from Manangement came to us we paid and left. read more

This local favorite is a bit pricey, but definitely authentic-tasting and decently portioned. Parking is actually pretty easy to get streetside. The friendly atmosphere and clean arrangement of tables gives a very open feeling to the dining experience. Disappointed in the service. Their website lists lunch buffet as running Monday-Friday from 11:45-2:45. We showed up at 2:15. They had a sign outside the door saying "We're open" in big letters. We open the door to a not-particularly-friendly "we're closed" from the waiter. We mentioned that their website lists them as being open to 2:45. Waiter responds with "oh, that's wrong." I might've just been disappointed but gone another day to try them out if he had at least given a "sorry", acted friendly, or made some sort of motion that they'll fix the website. Food was really good and fresh. The service team was very attentive. The vegetarian dishes especially were cooked with great care.

Don't fill up on the soup/appetizer bar if your order the $12 lunch special. The tandoori chicken wings and chicken hara are pretty good, but the bhaji and potato pakoras aren't all that great. The lentil dumplings in yogurt sauce are standard. The entrees more than made up for any disappointment. You choose a protein and a sauce. Fish with tawa was a generous portion of a meaty white fish in an aromatic pepper based sauce. It was more like a stew than the other tawas I have experienced. Lamb with korma sauce was an equally fine serving of a meat that has just about disappeared from Indian lunch buffets, in a mild, yet flavorful gravy. Fresh naan brought to the table, was perfect for dunking in the bowls of dal. Rose water flavored ice cream, dotted with flecks of pistachio arrived before we could stop the waiter (as we were stuffed). A great value for $12. read more

Definitely the best Indian food we have had in Westchester. Having been there several times now, I can say that all the dishes are freshly prepared and the menu has some modern touches to traditional Indian recipes. We have had some the "street-food" appetizers and they have been consistently excellent. I can highly recommend the Chicken Chettinad and the Biryani, both outstanding. The food was delicious. Saag, masalas, dosas, naan, rice, tandoori chicken, condiments on the lunch buffet also included mint chutney, raita, mango chutney and a fourth I don't know name of. I ate with my Indian friend and she rated the food "excellent " with gusto. My friends went back for seconds ( which you really do not need) and I had the rice pudding or kheer. The wait staff is cheerful and cleans off your dishes when you are done, keeps your water glasses full and it was not to busy on a Monday so they let us chat. This is same owner of MALABAR Hill but look is new and everything feels fresh from top to bottom. It gets very crowded in the evening. Get there early. Buffet is the best "Deal" read more
