We were on our way to Seattle and we had to stop by Redding for a night. We accidentally discovered this place but oh boy.. we were surprised how good the food was! The salad came first. The honey mustard dressing was sooo good. I don't know what they put on the dressing but it was excellent. The duck curry was delicious but then came the shrimp with eggplant.. It was the best eggplant dish I have ever had. The eggplant just melts in your mouth! It was perfect. Driving back to LA from Seattle, we couldn't pass up on the opportunity to have some of the eggplant dish again. We stopped by Racha for lunch and it was the same perfect dish we had a few days ago. I will stop by again sometime soon when we head up to SF. It's just simply irresistable. read more

Warning -- Cash only --- But very inexpensive and the food was excellent. We had lunch for 3 and it came to $24 total. I really liked it and even contemplated 5 stars (which is always a stretch for me), but they are excellent at what they provide. It is in a place that's a little tricky to find the first time -- it's really at the south end of California Street, kind of a dog-leg off of Market Street. There's an old strip mall there, with an Oriental Market and a Band/Instrument shop next door. Parking was a little tricky right at noon, but we all worked it out together..... Service was quick and very friendly. We'll be going back to try out some of the other dishes next time we've got a hankering for some Thai. read more

Stopped through Redding to get gas on the way up to Portland. Was a little late at night and I decided to pause longer to get dinner. Yelped this place and decided to give it a try. Glad I read the reviews first as a few of them tell you this place is CASH only. The place is found on a run-down block that definitely needs a face-lift. Didn't deter me as I saw the restaurant half filled on a Tuesday night. I walked in and I immediately saw two sisters (twins?) in their 50s maybe working the place. I guess they're the owners(?). After sitting down and getting a menu, I asked for a recommendation. The seafood plate with rice (last page) was suggested which I took and added their sampler appetizer. The menu has printouts of Yelp reviews! I thought this was pretty cool. 1st thing that comes is a small salad. Really simple, just lettuce, carrots, red cabbage and a house dressing. Wasn't bad. The sampler came next and really quick. It's got two egg rolls, two shrimp rolls and two potato filled roll. I forget the name-sorry. All of it wasn't bad. Also came with that sweet dipping sauce. Half-way through the sampler, I got my dish which I had asked for it to be served spicy. And it was spicy! I was really amazed at how spicy it was. I had a little trouble finishing the entire dish. Again, this dish was just ok. I ended with the fried banana and ice cream for dessert. The banana piece was a little small-not even the whole banana but it wasn't bad. Whole meal: $20. That price was pretty good considering how much food I got. I was crazy stuffed afterwards. I think what makes this place appealing are the two sisters. There were really sweet and I noticed more than one person in the restaurant knew them personally. So overall food was just ok but was definitely pretty cheap. For a family owned place in not the greatest location, it's doing alright and I'd come back just for family service. read more

Well I ate there tonight and I yes the interior is funky! Pepto Bismol pink colored chairs, light lavender colored walls and blue carpet. But the food is scrumptious. I really enjoyed the curry puffs appetizer, the house salad and pad thai. I will definitely come back and try some of the other menu items. They only take cash & no alcohol. read more

I get the most consistent flavor from this spot than any of the others I've tried in the area for Thai green curry. It's not usually busy, the folks who own and operate lovely. The staff is always nice. I've had the green curry, Tom kha soup, satay chicken, and a few other things. Always bright fresh ingredients. Always good and tasty. read more

This place is ran by a generation family of Thai women and all of them are kind and helpful, even during their busiest hours. This is my first foray into Thai food and I have to say that I've been won over. Even before digging in, everything smelled delicious. The food was very fresh, filling, but not too heavy. My kids who are very picky eaters even cleaned their plates! My daughter especially loved the Thai ice tea. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type place, but that's a good thing. The staff is warm, and looking back into the kitchen you get a very homey vibe, it just looks like a family making dinner together and it translates into the food. This is not a typical American-Thai food like some of the others in town so don't expect the dishes to be that tame or the atmosphere to be elegant. I love the curries and stir fry with garlic. Vegetarian-friendly of course. Personally, I don't think the noodle dishes, pho, pad ke mao and pad thai are as good as the rest of the menu which may be a deal breaker for some. In addition to my food, the take-out bag had a salad, fork, chop sticks, napkins, and mints! LOCATION: Not the best location in that there is limited parking and it may be hard to find for first-time customers. However, If you are there for the food, this is a minor issue. CONSISTENCY: Food is exceptional. You have a choice as to how spicy you want your food (high, medium, low) . I ordered a phad thai; the noodles were fresh, the shrimp was tender and juicy and NOT rubbery. The vegetables were crunchy-fresh and the broth for the dish was balanced in terms of salt and spices. I gave this place 3 stars because it's my first visit. I will definitely return and try other dishes. I struck up a conversation with one of the loyal customers and she has been there over 6 times. She recommended the dish "F-2" for its freshness, taste, and indeed represents the TLC quality of Racha Noodle restaurant. read more

Awesome. Super fresh, very authentic Thai. A bit tough to locate and the sign is a little scary but once inside its like a little Thai oasis. Totally reminded me of Thailand. In the back you can see a clean kitchen with a whole group of people sitting around a table making the food - very Thai. Its a family close knit operation and the result is excellent food. My Papaya salad was beautiful. Very nice presentation. Very fresh and clean. Green Curry Tofu was also great. The sauce was not quite as thick as I am used to but the result was that it seemed lighter. Might actually be better this way and less fat. I prefer it when restaurants don't overdo it, so after I got over myself I realized that this is a better way to do it. As I left I saw a Jaguar in the parking lot. Went to racha for tge first time today and it was amazing! The food taste so clean and had so many flavors! For me and my sister our bill was only 23.00. And we both got a HUGE bowl of soup/noodles and a side of white rice and each got a soda. Thats a hell of a good deal.. Everything on the menu looked good. This place is decorated how I imagine my grandma would decorate her house if she were Thai. And I say this in a good way. I think the decor was homey but it also had a cultural flare. Got pad Thai, pad see ew, pad kee Mao and grilled chicken with fried rice. The food tastes fresh. They definitely use fresh ingredients. We stumbled across this place years ago. Was looking for an Asian store (next door). And saw this place was packed during lunch hour. Came back for their dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Since then, we've been coming here for years. So much that she already knows our "special" orders. If by chance we decide to venture out of our comfort zone she is always surprised.
