Loosing a loved one is never easy. The staff at Rachel's Funeral home have been so helpful and attentive before, during, and even 2 years after. No one is ever prepared for a loss, I'm glad my family was recommended to seek funeral services here. Their anniversary memorial event was beautiful and therapeutic as well. God bless.

Myriam is a great asset to this business. She was patient and not at all pushy even with the late hour of my dad's passing.

I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rachal's funeral home. Kawika deserves a special thanks from our entire family as he walked us through the entire process with grace and kindness. Facing the death of a loved one and finding a business with employees as considerate and caring as those found at Rachal's funeral home is difficult. I called based on the strength of the reviews and immediately found out why people have used Rachal's. Our first point of contact was Miriam. She was kind and patient and full of useful information. The two gentlemen Rachal's dispatched to pick up our dad were both respectful and highly professional. We felt immediately confident we were in good hands. Kawika, assisted us with the arrangements the next day and he instantly felt like a family friend. He was personable and patient and is an incredible asset to Rachal's. Kawika's compassionate nature is exactly what is needed in this type of business. He handled the wake and funeral mass expertly and with an empathetic hand. Some might feel reluctant at first glance because of the exterior of the facility but fear not. The chapel has an intimate feel, the bathrooms are impeccably clean, there are plenty of seats and the dining area spacious.

Losing a loved one is one of the most painful experiences anyone can endure -- and unfortunately,…read moreFuneraria Agape only made that process more difficult and traumatic for my family. What was supposed to be a dignified and respectful farewell for my father turned into a nightmare of disorganization, miscommunication, and blatant disregard for our grief. From the beginning, we were passed around between staff, starting with Dulce, who handed our case off to Clara without a proper handover or clear communication. Clara and I established a plan and timeline, but what followed was anything but structured. Despite multiple conversations and providing all necessary information for the death certificate and international transport, critical details were repeatedly entered incorrectly. We were coordinating the transfer of my father's remains from Los Angeles to Mexico, and these errors caused major complications with the Mexican consulate -- adding unnecessary stress to an already painful process. Timeline of events: * My father passed away on 6/19. * The doctor signed the necessary documents on 6/29. * Agape didn't register the death until 7/3. * Cremation finally occurred on 7/5. On 7/5, we delivered an urn we had purchased for my father -- only to later find out that he had already been in Agape's possession. Why was I not told this? When I confronted Dulce, her explanation was weak and dismissive: "Clara dropped the ball." To add insult to injury, she offered me $50 as compensation -- a gesture that felt like a slap in the face. This was never about money -- it was about respect, transparency, and honoring my father's memory. The entire process was exhausting, emotionally draining, and filled with preventable mistakes. No family should have to chase down answers or correct paperwork while grieving. Funeraria Agape may present a polished appearance, but be warned: they treat your loved ones like logistics, not human beings. Their customer service is, quite frankly, dead -- and their lack of professionalism and empathy was a betrayal during one of the most vulnerable times of our lives. Do yourself a favor: avoid this place at all costs. Your loved one deserves better. So do you.

Could not have had a worse experience, which I should have anticipated considering when my father…read morepassed 3 years ago and they tried to convince my sister and I that our father was over 6'5" and would need an oversized coffin which was substantially more expensive than a standard coffin as well as overheard two employees complaining how slow my extremely old grandma (with a cane) was walking down the aisle during the service and how it would never end. Below is the SHORT version: Angelus was called to pick my grandma up after she passed from her home (less than 1 mile away) and charged $600 which I felt was beyond ridiculous. The burial was being paid with a life insurance policy and as beneficiaries (sister and I) of said policy we were sent a document to be signed that needed to be notarized so insurance could pay Angelus directly. The document had items listed in it regarding her estate that we had no knowledge of (we were not trustees) so we let Angelus know they would need those removed before we signed a legally binding document; otherwise, we would have to have insurance pay us directly and then pay them. The items could not (or would not) be removed so we let them know how long it would take to get the money from insurance. Angelus proceeded to be in contact with other family members to pressure us to sign the document. I would have been happy to pay out of pocket but I don't have 10k laying around so we needed that insurance money (which was 10k). After the attempt at manipulation I was very suspicious and went over the burial contract again where I realized there was a general charge of $5,000 for "cemetery charges". My sister called asking what "cemetery charges" were and she was told it was for digging up the grave/burying my grandma; it was so high because she'd be buried with her mom and they would need to dig my great grandma up, dig deeper so they had enough room for 2 coffins, and then bury them both. I was thankfully able to find the plot number of the grave my grandma had purchased decades ago THROUGH Angelus and, lo and behold, when confronted with that plot number, her actual grave was miraculously found and "cemetery charges" dropped by almost half. They tried to say that the purchase was so old and hadn't been imputed into the new computer system but are you really expecting me to excuse that people purchase plots decades in advance and you're not going to keep your records up to date? That's literally your job. You sell people plots and then not keep track of it? Angelus at one point threatened my sister that we'd start being charged a daily fee for housing my grandma if we didn't choose a burial date (which my sister had already done). When my sister confronted our contact on this and told them if that's how it would be then they could redo the contract for the cheapest immediate burial, their tones changed. I find it funny that they tried to make it seem like we didn't care because she was there for 5 weeks yet they hadn't said a word when my dad had been there just shy of that long (he died a few weeks before Thanksgiving and a lot of out of state family asked us to wait to have the funeral until after Thanksgiving so flights weren't so expensive). Everything was finally settles and the DAY we were paid by insurance, they were paid. This place is an absolute scam and I wish I could write the novel that's deserved to be written about all the other things we went through between my dads and grandmas death. Had her plot not already been purchased, I never would have chosen them.

My family and I used Angelus services to help coordinate the burial process of my father's passing…read more This is my first time working with a funeral home so I was clueless. Thanks to my sister and counselor Ms. Doris we were able to work together to coordinate the best package to lay my father to rest via cremation and Veteran's burial process. I have to say funerals are quite the expense. The packages seemed a bit much but then again funeral costs aren't cheap. There were options to take away or provide items on your own, but it's up to you. I just wasn't a fan of some items being "required". You hear stories of the madness of selecting and paying but it's more to the process than most think . It requires detail, organization, communication and patience. I appreciate Ms. Doris for being patient with my family in our decision making process to get everything squared away. Only feedback I have is that the funeral home is a popular one so there were times where I felt communication was delayed, information was missed, or the office was not responsive. For first time families it is crucial to be attentive to response times as it plays a huge role in the experience. Overall, the Angelus team is not perfect but a good team to get the job done. Again, thank you to Ms.Doris and the Angelus staff for taking care of my father.
