Best breakfast my husband and I have had in a long time! The hash bowl is really home made hash and not the garbage from a can that most places try to pass off as home made. Food was delicious. Our waitress was lovely. Restaurant was clean. But. Just an observation....Very inefficient use of staff. Two or three people behind the counter chatting with each other. Waited a bit for someone to come to our table to get drink order. How about having someone walk around refilling coffee? Or cleaning tables that sat empty without being cleared. That's a factor in my more realistically 4.5ish review. My SO is the one who suggested Rachel's, and I was honestly pleasantly surprised. The Belgian waffles were fine, but the omelette with chorizo and a side of toasted cornbread was the real standout. The cornbread was buttery and lightly toasted, which I found to be a nice touch. Two stars but should be zero. Don't waste your time as this place has deteriorated! Have eaten here a number of times over last several months and raved about it! BUT this has been awful experience-brought my family members here this morning and they have started using hand held computers to take your order and bad system as waitresses cant even look at you trying to enter order in and when you get the order an HOUR later it is wrong and mixed up. The owner cook seems to have become backed up and overwhelmed and we didnt appreciate waitress being yelled at. Rachel's Cafe is a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot in South County Commons. Walking in you'll find it's clean and has a wonderful atmosphere. Both the breakfast and lunch options are phenomenal.What makes the restaurant so great besides the food is the awesome waitresses. Every single waitress I have seen goes out of their war to accommodate the customers. Rachels is also a great option if you are headed to the beach and looking to grab breakfast on the go with delicious iced coffee. Finally tried this cafe, and I won't be back. We went for breakfast, and although the restaurant was only half full, we had to wait 20 minutes just for the server to give us a menu. The sausage links were cold in some spots and warm in others - - low quality, microwaved frozen brown 'n servs! Ordered eggs, easy-over and the yolks were hard-cooked and the edges of the whites were brown and rippled. Potatoes tasted like pre-cooked, frozen squares. Friend ordered the egg sandwich...terrible! The "english muffin" was thin, dry and heated in a microwave which made it rubbery. Also was overcharged on the bill, but the server did fix that mistake when brought to her attention. Total disappointment. Tried it for breakfast on Sunday and despite the posting for muffins, "we don't do muffins on Sundays". Then take the sign down! Went back for lunch on Monday (holiday), for a second chance. Had good reviews last summer. Terrible grilled cheese, forgotten sandwich for my husband that when it finally came was sausage that should have been sliced for a sandwich but wasn't, forgotten cheese that was then just placed on top.
