My wife and I stopped by this cozy little breakfast spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ed's has just the right mix of charm and comfort to make you comfortable on Main Street. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict, and wow--it was a masterpiece. The corned beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly balanced with the creamy hollandaise and soft poached eggs. Every bite was a savory delight, and the English muffin did get a bit soggy. My wife went for the pancakes, and she enjoyed her plate! Fluffy, golden, and perfectly cooked, they were served with just the right amount of butter and a side of syrup. Her side of bacon was also cooked well! I'm a big fan of Ed's Roost. The service is friendly and if you go early enough you can find a seat without an issue. It's not the fanciest place, but for breakfast I way prefer diner style over anything else. My eggs are always cooked and seasoned perfectly here, which for breakfast is the biggest win of all. I also think the corn beef hash is super tasty and enjoy the home fries. The coffee is tasty too! The sign in the windows said that effect January 1, 2026 they were reducing there hours to concentrate on providing staff with time off and providing good quality food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich it was a sloppy mess the sauage was petrified cooked like the bottom of an old shoe and the home fries were horrendous. They may need to review the definition of good quality food. There is a reason the place was empty. It seems to me that the owner has just given up. I will not be returning. read more

OK omelet-fresh and hot. Was completely lacking in toppings-asked for spinach and broccoli and legit got 4 pieces of broccoli. The spinach was raw but the heat of the eggs cooked it for me. Small little shack in a busy strip.... I saw some reviews and I thought it was interesting to come over here and check another place out in this area. This place was was recommended by a couple of yelpers so I decided to come over here and try something new. Atmosphere When you first walk in here and it does look like a small chicken shack. We have to course of roosters a small wooden ceilings. Old school Decour with folding chairs and tables. You have an older crowed. Service: I was greeted by the waitress she was very polite and super nice. And then this one paycheck and it's basically a paper so it was easier to read and decide on what I wanted to get. Food, The specials in the menu looks pretty simple. Two eggs any style. Specialty Omelettes to "Light and Hearty Breakfast Corner: Avocado toast, Mediterranean sandwich, make light, thanks so much, CB Bagel, Ed McMuffin, John McBagel, Monte Cristo. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Florentine Spinach and Ham. End-of-Meal: I gotta say. Took the first bite of Home fries which I really eat. Hearty home-style food Prompt, friendly service Great, cozy space Ed's Roost - assuming I am not lazily eating mango while overlooking the sea in Trinidad when I retire, then this is the type of breakfast place I do hope to frequent when I retire. The space feels like home, the straightforward, well-executed food tastes great, the service is with a smile, many people know each other here and welcome each other heartily, and even those of us less regular visitors will feel in on that vibe. I don't ask for much more than that. Maybe a clearer indication of being cash-only, but it's a very minor quibble. As an aside, I'll be unable to weigh in on the Ed's/Jigger's debate, as, sadly, Jigger's appears to owe Centreville Bank more money than it takes to keep the doors open. As such, I'll mourn my missed opportunity, but remain happy to know Ed's. I think you will, too. read more

The food came out piping hot. Both dishes were delicious and very filling. The corn beef was not that canned stuff some places use. Big pieces of corn beef and the home fries were very tasty too. DO NOT eat at Eds Roost Restaurant in East Greenwich. We went there today with family visiting from CA. Five of us in our group. My Sister-In-Law ordered their famous Eggs Benedict with Corned Beef Hash. Part way through the meal she discovered a short, gray hair under her English Muffin (she has long black hair, the owner/cook has short gray hair) We discreetly asked the server to replace the meal. The server did not listen to what we asked for, and brought out a regular hash plate, no eggs, no Hollandaise sauce. We again discreetly asked for them to correct the order. She came back and said, the eggs are going to be a while, the kitchen is backed up. The restaurant was half empty. Instead of putting our remade meal ahead of the non-existent orders, they made us wait. We finally get ONE poached egg, instead of two, and no Hollandaise. We ask AGAIN, discretely, for them to correct the order. She goes back to the kitchen and tells the owner about the mix up. In the meantime, while waiting for the food to be remade, they had already brought us our check and we had already paid. I hear him swearing in the back that he is not making another f*#%ing egg. At this point I got up, walked to the window to tell him the error originally made and the hair in the food. HE accused ME of the hair coming from me. No more discretion at this point, I said to him, in a very loud voice, "Are you saying it was MY hair under her food? He basically said yes. Over the years we have been staunch supporters of this establishment. We have spent a lot of money there, and always tipped the wait staff well. No more. I will NEVER go back. And I would encourage any of my local friends to avoid this place going forward. Ed's Roost has no care for the people who support the business. No wonder he has such a hard time keeping wait staff. If this is how he treat his paying customers, imagine how he treats the staff. Shame on you! read more

Pucker Up Matt - This is good, but it is not as good a Jiggers, and the folks at Ed's did not move and set up shop somewhere else. And yes, I have been to both on multiple occasions. If you are looking for a spot to grab breakfast in East Greenwich, this is a great place to go. Ed's Roost is a great funky little place and the staff was very friendly. I am not too concerned about the signage nor the age of the menus. All of that being said, I think we need to keep some perspective. 5 stars, it is as good as it gets? Really? I give this place 4 stars because I am a fan. I liked the hash but it was really more potato than corned beef. The corned beef chunks are large as well, and if you get it crispy, it is really tasty. I think the corned beef, as the name would intimate, should be the star and not supporting role. The reality is that it was good, but ranks behind several other places. Also, I assume if it is 5 stars and you live in Barrington, you are in your car making the trip; which I doubt. I do travel to Spoonem's in north Cranston, because they are that good, and the hash is better than Ed's. I don't want this to sound like a downer to Ed's because they are more than worth your patronage. It is local and should be supported. It is friendly and the staff is very nice. It is heads and shoulders better than "T's". So yes, I am a fan. read more

This place is classic "old school" breakfast restaurant. Its got lots interesting decor I love to look at while dining. Theres nice dark wood built in shelves for condiment holders on the walls. The food is amazing, the best French toast I have had in quite some time. Home fries are large and hearty. It looks like they have also modernized some menu options with avocado toast and southwestern omelettes. Only draw back is the lack of seating makes it hard to get a table on weekends. read more

Have been going to Ed's roost off and on for years and the the service and food has always been great. Unfortunately we went in today and waited 30" for breakfast. When another customer asked about the long wait the response from the waitress was an apology, but she didn't want to check with the cook because he would get mad at her and say bad words. But what was really upsetting was when a customer that came in after our order was in, and he received his meal before us. He appeared to be a regular and we wondered if he got special service because of that. Food was good and hot, but we will think twice about going in again due to the long wait. read more

Strolled in after the original place we were looking for in the area was closed. What a stroke of luck. Inside was an eclectic visual of rustic farm and small town diner. We were seated promptly by friendly staff (it was about 3/4 full and open seating). Usually we take a table for 2 so we're not occupying more seats than needed. My wife ordered the Big John breakfast since it sampled just about everything including pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, ham, eggs, home-fries. I ordered the eggs and hash with coffee. After being in the Army for 28 years that order is my usual. The orders came out in about 10 minutes. The waitress suggested we move to a larger table...and we found out why. My wife's order looked like a buffet and the waitress recognized it wouldn't fit on our table. My order came out. Let me tell you. Of all of the hash and eggs I've had this was in the top 2 or 3. Homemade hash had me just finishing it off post haste. My over easy eggs were perfect. I got to sample my wife's and the sausage, ham and bacon-crisp. Excellent! We will be back. Soon and often. As I look at some of the other reviews this place has gotten that are less than 5 stars I can't help but laugh. I failed to notice any of the amenities, signage etc. being sub-par as I'm generally too busy thanking the waitress for topping up my coffee, reading the ProJo and having a breakfast like no other. If you can find a better breakfast in E. Greenwich I'll kiss your ass. A bit overrated. I did as my yelper's suggested and brought my husband's parents and ordered the corned beef hash extra crispy. Folding charis and round picnic tables are a throw back to a basement church pot-luck. It is cheap, but so is the food quality. Ironic signs from 2008 still hang which indicate that menu items are .50 cents more then listed...half a penny only? Talk about busy - no time in the last three years to print up new menues? read more

Ed's Roost is a good breakfast joint. Not the best ever, but good. We stopped in on a Sunday Morning, and were able to find seats at the counter. Our waitress was very nice, came over right away and was very attentive to us. It is average breakfast food, made well and filling. I had an omelet that was LARGE. Egg Beaters are free of charge! That is basically unheard of and awesome. My main squeeze had french toast. He said it was tasty, but it was COVERED in cinnamon sugar, so I expected nothing less. read more

Limited selection, but great hash and very reasonably priced. We've been here a few times and I have to agree with the other reviewers whose advice I followed when ordering the hash that it's great. It's obviously not of the canned variety, but a pretty decent sized serving of chunks of tender and delicious meat. Loved it! My wife doesn't eat hash, but has gotten staple dishes, eggs, potatoes, etc. And we've brought our 18 month old a couple of times and he's liked the pancakes, so it's all good in our book. Service is friendly and efficient and prices are definitely lower than a few of the other breakfast places in the area. Their menu is a little limited, though, with the staples and the aforementioned hash; you won't see a bunch of different things which you might see at those other places, but everything we've had has been tasty.
