I've had much better luck at this location in recent months. They have some employees that have been around for a while now and seem to have things pretty under control most weeknights that I stop. Rachel's Mediterranean was very busy when we stopped in for lunch on this Tuesday, an indication of its popularity. There was a long line of office workers and shoppers standing on line, but the line moved very quickly. We had ample time to make our decisions as we moved right up to the counter. The "concept" is to select 1) Choose a Base 2) Pick a Protein and then 3) Add Extras. The real fun begins as you move down the line, selecting from tantalizing meats and vegetables. Typically, Rachele's Mediterranean is a slam dunk. The food is made fresh to order. It is clean. It is fresh. It is delicious. today, however I question what the staff was thinking. It was about 1215 which anybody knows is the lunch hour and the lunch rush. It was at that point. They decided to mop the floors which made it an absolute slippery disaster. When we arrived in there, the soda machine that had been broken for the last six months is still broken, which is pretty crappy. Food itself was displayed in a neat and orderly manner. The facility was clean. The workers were helpful upon cashing out they had literally no regular pop. They had Coca-Cola zero and Diet Coke and iced tea and bottled water. They were out of Sprite, regular Coke, and any other beverage they did not have a place for you to get your own water so the only way you could have something to drink was to buy a four dollar bottle of water that's pretty crappy. It was poor planning on their part. It is poor management on a Monday morning not to have restock items from the weekend. It actually reminded me of the Chinese restaurant that's in my hometown. A few years ago, this location was my first experience with Rachel's Mediterranean Grill... I had lived in California for a few years prior, long enough that there were no Rachel's at the time I moved there. I only knew about Rachel's from commercials I would see when watching Bills games from the west coast. When my family and I moved back a few years ago, we made sure to try Rachel's, as my wife loves Mediterranean food... We were impressed with this location then... Almost like a Chipotle, but for Mediterranean food. Then we stopped at this location again recently... And holy smokes, it has somehow gone downhill a bunch since our first visit a few years ago... It was dirty inside, hard to find a clean place to sit. We ordered ahead so we could skip the line and found multiple items from our order missing. One of them was hummus, which ended up being spoiled and rancid (once we got the order corrected). The rest of the food was just kinda mediocre at best. Everything tasted ok, but I was nervous we'd get sick based on everything else wrong in there. We didn't end up getting sick, but I don't think we'll ever be coming back to this location anyway. read more

The thought of eating here never even once crossed my mind, but my Dad suggested this Place for us to Try. Located in a Small Plaza on McKinley Parkway right over by Wegmans and the McKinley Mall. He didn't know that was like what Chipotle's, Moe's & Subway's was where you go up to the Counter and ask for what you want and they assemble it for you. A bit overpriced as I paid almost 28 Dollars for my Dad's Chicken Salad and my Lamb Gryo. We ate for almost 30 Minutes, Dad enjoyed the Taste of his Salad but he thought that it was too big of a Portion in his Opinion (I ate some of his to help finish it off). Also what turned him off was that the Chicken was Cold, it should've been Hot (in his Opinion). My Gryo was really Tasty, Meat was perfectly Cooked, Lettuce & Onions gave it a nice Fresh Bite, Hummus was Smooth and Creamy, Olives were Briny. However, I do regret asking for them to put extra Garlic Spread on there as Mild and Nutty as it was, with a small burning sensation after Each Bite I took. The smell of the Garlic was lingering on my Breath for the rest of the Night, my Dad even told me this at the Game. So I think this will be a one time Experience for us as my Dad will never be back in any of the Locations. As for me it would have to take a lot for Rachel to Medite-reign me back in. !!! read more

I didn't notice they were burnt to a dark crisp, no wonder she asked me if I wanted them broken up on my rice bowls lol. I wanted Gyro, and I can't get over how skimpy the portions were. Chipotle has the same concept as this place, but even they don't skimp on protein. I asked for our sauces on the side, watched her drop the sealed cups on the floor-then put them in our bag. Something happened since the last time we ordered from Rachel's in Hamburg (which was missing the extra meat I paid for, but was at least edible). It used to be so good. What's the point of ordering extra steak if all you get is three chunks of raw--bloody red--meat linked together by fatty sinew. Looks alone said, "Eat at your own risk." Paid $3 extra for inedible "Steak, is it?" Same with the chicken...used to get flavorful marinated bite-sized pieces of chicken; now it's two overcooked dry tenders. Even the feta seemed downgraded. Who let this place lose its pride? Seems to be a trend in the reviews too, so it's not like this could have gone unnoticed this long--who's on quality control? Find them, let them go, and find someone else who cares. $40 for a salad bowl and rice bowl--and just returned them to the garbage where they evidently were made. I feel bad for the employees who seem as uninspired as the person responsible for the business--it's not their fault that their leadership lacks vision and leads by poor example. read more

Not good is an understatement. "Sucked" is more apt. I've wanted to try this place for quite some time. My daughter mentioned that they are now available via DoorDash. Today was the day! To be honest, I was unaware that ALL of the products are wraps, other than the rice bowls. I ordered what I assumed to be three salad type meals with 12 inch white pita. Nope - got three wraps. $62.00 was the total for these Middle Eastern type burritos. My daughter and I were a bit surprised, hubby is clueless about most things so he wasn't fazed at all. My veggie wrap/"wish it were" souvlaki was a giant mess of all different things. Tzatziki was my sauce of choice and it ENCOMPASSED everything! Including the two romaine root ends - or butts, as I call them ! Stupidly I ordered what I assumed to be a side of tabouli. Let me just stop here and say that I make my own tzatziki and tabouli, I am well aware of what goes into them. The cucumber sauce, other than being excessively applied, was OK. The tabouli -seriously - was just a scoop of seasoned parsley tossed into this messy mix. Try as I might, no bulgur to be found. Absolute garbage! NEVER will I order from here again. Called here for a pickup order of two steak souvlakia in a whole wheat wrap. Had to repeat order three times since they " were very busy." We arrived and Zi went in to pick up the order. There was no spectate pick-up line so I waited until I was addressed by an associate ready to take my order. I was directed to the checkout area. I paid the bill and we went home to enjoy the meal. The pita was tough, could not taste the feta cheese, which we ordered and realized we received chicken( chewy) instead of the steak we had ordered. Food was delicious. BUT Employees all looked like they truly hated their job. One was banging pans on the counter annoyed they had to switch an empty pan for a guest that wanted an ingredient. Just downright yeah I don't really care if I'm rude what else do you fucking want rude. She threw down the toppings with the anger of 10,000 souls, it was a site to see. Our order last week was totally screwed up - we ordered fries, two salads with gyro meat. We got no fries, the wrong toppings on the salads, and no pitas. Called to complain and Josh offered two salads on the house. We ordered again today. Like I said, place was slammed. Wife had spent a total of like 20 minutes on the phone just to get the order placed. Whoever answered the phone wanted to put her on hold because it was busy (two times). First time she'd waited 10 minutes on hold then called again. Anyway, after getting the order placed, I go pick it up. Drive away, realize no pitas in the bag. Back to restaurant, ask for pitas. Get home, toppings "almost" as ordered, except no olives. Missing one extra tatziki we'd ordered. No feta cheese on one salad. Don't waste your time! I stopped in on Friday and tried to order two chicken souvlaki. As the made the first, they scrapped the hard chicken bits off the side of the metal container - putting about 2-3 tablespoons of chicken shards on the wrap. When I asked if they had any other chicken, they said they didn't - even though there was about 20# of chicken on the grill behind them. They told me the had no more chicken and explained they were saving the chicken on the grill for the next day. As they continued to build my wrap, they told me they had no lettuce, and no cucumber. When I asked, they told me they did have those items but they weren't cut. Again, they didn't want to cut new lettuce because they didn't want it to "go to waste". I asked for the telephone number of their manger who I spoke to. His name is Bob and he told me he would send a gift card via email and that never happened. Needless to say, I'd avoid this place at all costs. They don't have any concerns about the customer and are prefect willing to serve garbage to paying customers. Very low standards. read more

Tried Rachel's for the first time today. Called in our order and picked up about 15 minutes later. Everything seemed OK. When we got home (a 45 minute drive) and checked the bag we were missing our appetizer and my wife's entree was devoid of any topping / protein (essentially she received a small bowl of rice with some sauce on it). Charged for our correct order but ended up with about half of it. When I called back to explain the situation I was placed on hold and, after more than 5 minutes, I gave up. Needless to say it was a terrible first impression and the Rachel's on McKinley will no longer be on our list of restaurants to patronize. read more
