If you've ever tried an American-style Greek restaurant in Buffalo, you know what to expect. Pegasus is a low key, family friendly place that's been in operation more than four decades. What do I like about places like Pegasus? The best part is sliding into the soft, cozy seat of a classic booth. I'm hungry, and I'm hoping for a good, satisfying meal. That said, this could be tricky. An overly extensive menu, plus a snappy waitress, don't make a comforting combination. If you are not a regular customer or, like us, you are just passing through, you could get this impression. Let's talk about the food. My Chicken Souvlaki was served exactly as described on the menu. The marinated chicken was charbroiled to perfection. Someone in the kitchen did a really great job. There were six large, moist, and tender chicken breast pieces. The dipping sauce on the side was creamy, garlicky with a distinct dill flavor, very tasty. My partner's lamb chops were also prepared exactly the way he asked for, medium rare. I had a bite. The so-called Greek salad was satisfying, mainly because of the delicious house made dressing. The Greek potatoes were rather like German potato salad. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, our dinner would have been more enjoyable if we weren't asked "how is everything" so often. Oh well... It's the typical style of American service, simple and inconsiderate. read more

Ok, so this review went from a three star to a four based on the superior customer care. Anyone who knows me knows I'm BIG on service. Allison our waitress did not disappoint. She was thorough, attentive, apologetic when things were cooked differently than ordered, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We thought overall that the food was ok. My Cajun fish was not as flavorful or spicy as I'd expect from Cajun or the sauce. Nothing spectacular, not bad and not added to the list of new go to's, but a decent contender for a fish fry. Great portions. Affordable pricing. The desserts we skipped because they are primarily store bought, but I do believe the baklava is homemade. The atmosphere was clean and decor kinda old school. The food here is good, there's a variety of options, from breakfast to seafood to Greek specialties, and they have really great desserts. I ordered through door dash to have my lunch delivered. I ordered the combo souvlaki and between tax and tip it was over 30 dollars. I even asked them to put my meat is a separate container so my sale wouldn't be wilted. I received my order and when I opened the salad it was wilted and inedible and tasted very off. I called as soon as I realized. I spoke to a very sweet women on the phone and she took my name and number and what I ordered and said they would replace the meal. I showed up tonight and spoke with who I can assume was the owner I explained my situation and was told they would not be replacing my food and gave me a 2 coupons for 5 dollars. So not only did I not get to enjoy lunch I basically threw 30 bucks in the garbage! This to me is terrible service as I was told one thing and then they did nothing. I remember many years back when this location was called "Donut Land". Well, no more doughnuts, but it is now a more attractive Greek restaurant, when you get inside. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is nicely decorated inside. Since we've moved to Hamburg last year, we've been searching for a replacement for Alton's, which we believe has the best chicken souvlaki in the region. Pegasus is not quite as good as Alton's in our opinion, but it comes pretty close. The chicken is tender and flavorful, as is the Greek dressing. By the way, my wife ordered the souvlaki, but I ordered pancakes. The pancakes were just OK. They had a somewhat bitter taste and the bottom was kind of hard. I wouldn't order the pancakes again here, but the souvlaki was quite good, and the waitress was cheerful and everything was quick. The staff was very friendly. We'll be back. read more

This restaurant had an amazing waiter, Allison, that was super fast, accommodating, and sweet. The menu has food for everyone and is very good. My family came in as a group of 30 and they sat us immediately. They had our food out in 20 minutes or less. Allison was so sweet and was great with our kids. She helped us cut the cake and hand it out. Such an amazing waiter and welcoming place. The room fits so many. They even hand out punch cards for free meals. I ordered a chicken souvlaki dinner with Greek potatoes, and turtle cheesecake for dessert. At pickup I had a little bit of sticker shock, this place isn't necessarily cheap but it made up for it in flavor. The chicken was very good and their homemade Greek dressing and tzatziki was divine. I loved the Greek potatoes and the cheesecake was super yummy! Their Pita was cooked perfectly as well and very tasty. I had to get takeout only because of the current virus situation, but I'm sure anybody would have a lovely experience here. We visited Pegasus on a Friday night around 7:15pm. The restaurant was pretty full in the front area but nothing out of the ordinary. We were taken to the back area where it opened up and was much less busy. We were handed menus printed on a sheet of computer paper (one sided) with maybe 20 entrees/appetizers. 4 of them being variations of souvlaki. Breakfast? Nope. Tuna melt I've been craving? Nope. We questioned the super limited menu and it was due to the craft show at the fairgrounds? How difficult is it to make a tuna melt or a chicken finger wrap or an omelette? The waitress gave us a very strict "NO" when we asked where the full menu was (that I was looking at online all day in anticipation for). So our table was super disappointed and luckily they had fish fries (which, weren't on the menu either, but the waitress offered them). But the cherry on top was the sandwich bread that our table was served before our meal (pic included). Come on! We got our food and agreed it was all mid. As we left the restaurant around 8, it was not busy at all. Absolutely no reason a full menu couldn't have been offered. read more

First time here; though I've passed by it enough. The exterior is very unassuming and maybe even a bit divey, but inside it's really nice; a pleasant surprise. The parking lot looks small, but there is secret additional space next door. The Hostess was friendly and upbeat, as was the server. My Mother was miffed that she heard the specials being told to another party and nothing was said to her. Harumpf (btw - only breakfast specials were on the board designated for specials - so someone wasn't doing their job.) After some lengthy negotiations, my Mother chose a turkey / bacon melt sort of thing - which she seemed to enjoy and even took some home. I picked the Mac/ Cheese entree which came with chicken and bacon. Mixed feelings. It had a faux Smokey taste / smell to it as if liquid smoke was used in the mix. The cheese sauce was very creamy (almost bizarrely so) - the fact that my take home did not seize up in the fridge led me to understand that the cheese was artificial somehow - and I threw it out. The chicken was a bit rigid (the protein molecules had not been released enough). All things considered it tasted OK, just not as good as it should have. The portion was big. The garlic bread slice was very good. I'd go back to try other items perhaps - but I'd steer clear of the Mac / Cheese. read more

I came in with my mother in law and husband the other day due to us passing by on our work route and I must say this restaurant is worth trying. We were greeted right away, given water and our waiter came within a few minutes after that. Exemplary service. My husband had the gyro, my mother in law had the Greek salad, and I had one of the omelettes. Food came in at a reasonable time and everything was delicious. Everything was perfectly seasoned, had great balance, was very filling, and the meat on the gyro was very tender with just the right amount of tzatziki sauce. I have been to Pegasus on several occasions but last night was different. I arrived at 5:20 and asked for a table for two - stated I was meeting someone and we had a meeting to attend. My friend arrived about five minutes later - we were in a booth - when i arrived I was handed the menus. We sat there for 20 minutes with no acknowledgement that we were even there. My friend waved down a waitress and told them we were on a time constraint and no one had come to our table. She acknowledged that she would let our waitress know. So ok, some places have a certain smell, like old oil, or old something. This place has that smell, and it is kind of off putting. That being said, they do what they do to a decent standard. This is to say, it is somewhere between ok and good, but not necessarily either one. The wait staff are always very friendly and kind, and the hostess is affable. They did quite a bit of work to this place 10-15 years ago to try and get larger banquets, but they have not done much since, and I don't think banquets are a big seller. The extended large seating area is more for the brunch on Sunday's which I have been to, and are also ok-good. read more

Well we went for what I was told a spectacular Fish Fry. Fish good, no baked potatoes so got Amer potato salad, so mustardy couldn't eat. Macaroni salad had small barely cooked hard noodles and very dry. Cole Slaw tolerable but. Ordered two slices of a cream pie. told we were lucky as we got the last piece. I've been here 4-5 times normally pretty good, with friendly service. I went about 2 months ago, later at night. Not sure if they changed their menu or just cut back the menu for late night.
