​Absolutely never go to this establishment! They refused entry to me and my service dog. I am a 100% service-disabled combat veteran, and the manager, Matt Sigman, forced me, my service animal, and my friend to leave the premises. ​When I explicitly informed this manager that Copper is a professionally trained service animal, he stated: "I don't care, no animals allowed." Let's be clear: This isn't a "pet" policy issue. This is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Federal law is not optional, and "not caring" isn't a legal defense. ​To make matters worse, when I contacted the owners, they dismissed my experience with empty excuses. They even had the nerve to claim their main business is "training dogs"--yet they clearly can't train their own staff on basic federal law or common decency. ​I am unable to function in society without my service dog. To be humiliated and kicked out of a restaurant for being disabled in service to this country is a disgrace. The ADA has been notified, and I am calling on the community to stand with veterans against this kind of discrimination. They have no business running a public establishment if they refuse to follow the law or respect those who served. read more

We've been eating here since around 2002. I was hesitant to post a less than stellar review because we know and love all the wait staff, they are all hard working good hearted people. Here recently, the food has gone down hill and their menu needs to overhauled. It's the same menu they had in 2002. It's time for a refresh and new kitchen staff. read more

Kristophers... tsk, tsk, tsk We have been going for some years now and always enjoyed the 2-for Tuesdays. Have not been in a couple months and decided to pick up a large??? pie for a friend's gathering last night. I run in to pick up and open to check. Hmmm... I see a medium pizza in a large box, with about half the toppings that's usually on it and more crust than normal. I get it, times are harder and food is getting costly, but changing what you serve your customers is not a way to keep them coming. My friends and I had an errand to run in Matthews and since we are never over in the area we decided to just pop in to a random restaurant to try something new. We were right next to Kristopher's so we stopped in. Great choice! We loved the atmosphere since we are college football fans and there were many tv's and games on and lots of other fans. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without coming by too much - just the right amount! We split some totchos (we got the small and it was MORE than enough to share!) and they were delicious. One friend got the wings and said they were delicious, while my other friend and I got the California Club Sandwich and the Calzone, respectively, and then split half each. All the food I had was great and I had enough leftover for dinner! Would definitely go back if I'm in the area! read more

As long as I've been living in Matthews, how have I not been here more often??? I stopped in during the week on my lunch break. Was seated immediately by a friendly hostess. My waiter came over who was just as friendly and took my drink order. For food I got the Roman Club sandwich with chips. It was so so good. The homemade potato chips set it off, they were warm and full of crunch. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu here. Great place to grab a quick lunch or catch a game. read more

My husband has been coming to Kristopher's for many years and he finally talked me into going with him. Let me just tell you - I loved it! I ordered the Yellow Jacket sandwich and it was delightful. It has layers of sweet/salty ham with melted cheddar cheese squeezed between not 2 but 3 buttery buns! I didn't realize it would be a double decker sandwich but I'm not mad about it! I couldn't finish it all even though I really wanted to. My husband likes their wings. They had a ton of TVs playing football games on a Sunday. When I can drink again, I wanna go back for one of their Sunday Bloody Mary specials! read more

maybe advertise itll be cheaper if you pay with cash instead of card, BEFORE customers are getting ready to pay? my partner and i decided on this restuarant only to be blindsided with an upcharge on the reciept. now, 32-cents a drink more isnt too much but when you think of the current status of the world, a surprise upcharge and surprise tax is enough to ruin someones entire day. i covered the drinks, he covered the food, and we both dealt with this. not to mention the prices arent listed on the menu and i knew more than our server because i had looked at the online ordering menu beforehand. the food is decent but they cant count correctly, for better for worse, and the menu is years outdated as our server told us. just know what youre walking into before you find a parking lot in the maze. read more

Full disclosure - we lived in Matthews 20+ years ago and decided to stay here on our return trip from FL. It was terrific to see how Matthews has grown and developed, but it was a thrill to come down the street and see Kristophers! Our son, as a junior in high school, worked upstairs in an ISP and we came for dinner many times. We could walk from our house! The place really hasn't changed much (maybe some additional TVs) but it is basically a sports bar catering to the locals. The ambiance indoors is wam and inviting and our server, Sammy, was knowledgeable and attentive. Good selection of beers - I had a Rotator #3 while my wife chose a Josh Cab Sauv. For our meals we chose the Old Fashioned BLT and the Ref's Reuben. Both were excellent! Great place in a great little town outside Charlotte. Nice to be "Home" again! read more

No frills sports bar right in the heart of downtown Matthews. Their menu isn't fancy and you'll struggle to find things on the menu that could be considered healthy, but man do they make delicious comfort food! While it can be fun to try new and exciting dishes, I have always enjoyed classic bar food that pairs well with a cold beer and a game on TV. Think wings, burgers, pizza, they have it all here. My personal favorite is the sandwich they call the Yellowjacket. It's a monstrous grilled ham and cheese double stacked and piled high. While it's clear the menu has some northern influences, they have been located here in Matthews for years so it's clear they've managed to capture some hearts! read more

Been a fan of this place for several decades and after some time away, we tried it again a few times. The problem is that we have noticed twice recently that when they bring the check, they have added $2.00 to $2.50 to the entree and bar drink prices above what the website prices are. Krisptophers does not put prices on the menu unlike literally every other restaurant on earth, so you have to go to their website and see prices. The first time I thought the price difference was just a mistake, but it happened again this week. When questioned, they assured me the prices are right. It does not appear to be a mistake and is just their business practice to upcharge you. Also, our food had a distinct overcooked/charred flavor, or very dirty grill flavor. That is unusual for Kristophers. It is always fresh tasking and never burned up until this visit. I don't know what is going on but I hate to see a once-great place go down like this. Sad. Food is mediocre, would have probably gave it a 3 star and try it again. But we ordered a ceaser salad and it included a glove yes a plastic (glove) in it along with the chicken. How the F does a cook EF this up. You are either dumb or stupid, pick one. Its my first time here, and last. Unfortunately my wife and daughter have been at this bar a few times. Out and about on a Saturday. Popped into Kristophers and this restaurant did not disappoint. Rhymes have several beer options on tap. We tried one of their specialty cocktails and it was quite refreshing. Good flavor. The menu offers a variety of food options. I opted for the "Catcher's Mitt". This is a seafood sandwich where you can choose between, cod, flounder and shrimp. Additionally, you can choose fried or grilled. I got the fried shrimp. This was a very filling meal. Paired with their red potato salad, I had a very hearty meal. My friends has different options (wet & dry) of their wings. They raved for hours about the wings. So good! So flavorful! So tasty! Not great. Food was incredibly average ("garlic hot" and "hot honey" wings were both just buffalo but with a little garlic/honey thrown in the sauce), and we were told by our waitress that the "triple play" of getting 6 boneless wings with a side was going to be cheaper than 6 of the $0.79 boneless wings. When this was in fact not the case, they did not bring us down to the original total but rather matched the price of the previous wings we had gotten, even though we were told otherwise. Mediocre food is a fact of life, but not knowing pricing and then being inflexible in retroactively changing it is frustrating. Unlikely to return. read more

And the families ordered after we got there. Another 20 people. We got there about 10:15, the pre-orders were all ready, and everything else was out by 10:35. Carmen did a great job as server, with Ashley helping, as well as the Hostess Meg. Emily kept up with drinks behind the bar. And the Kitchen staff absolutely smoked it. Pretty underwhelming in every way as the service was pretty slow and unattentive even though it wasn't crowded when we were there. Place was near empty and hostess is seating people next to kitchen doors, restroom entrance and right next to the restaurant entrance. This place has been a regular stop for the first 10 years I lived in the area but hadn't been here in 2 or 3 years. Seemed like a good place for a Wednesday lunch. When I got the menu I was surprised to see no prices. I have seen that in fine dining establishments often but never in a bar with bar food. Hmm... I ordered a Bold Rock cider to start with the Roman Club which is like an Italian sub but it's on a pizza dough rather than that a hoagie roll. I get it with Italian dressing and Mayo which reminds me of an Italian wedge I used to eat as a kid back in Pittsburgh. The place is loaded with TVs of all shapes and sizes facing all different directions for the viewing pleasure of every seat in the house. My food was delivered hot and ready to eat except that they forgot the Mayo. Then when I requested the Mayo they brought me Mayo and did not bring me silverware. I enjoyed the meal other than the Mayo fiasco and the onion rings being a bit over cooked. When I went to pay and leave my waitress took my receipt and didn't take my credit card. At that time I returned to my table. Then 10 minutes later I stood up a second time to close out and she acted surprised even though she already cleared my table. I paid the bill and was left with a full belly and yet a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. I guess my hunch about the prices not on the menu was right... $19.55 for the meal plus tip. And no veterans/military discount. For a sandwich o- rings and a cider?? No appetizers, no second drink. Just a sandwich side and drink. Even on Yelp the food menu says "prices may vary". Sure, Kristopher, flex your prices any way you see fit without notice to your customers. That sounds like ethical business practices. Based on the cost of this meal I will find a better place to get a $20 meal especially when I have the family. Small birthday celebration. Only problem was a table of ladies were seated behind us and the noise was unbelievable! They were apparently trying to out talk each other! Waitress couldn't pass behind us without bumping into us. We were in a booth by the front door and will NEVER be seated there again. Waitress was slow prior to the other table being seated and the slowness was tripled after the other table was seated. FYI : This review is only for Drinks & appetizers. There's a TV in every direction so perfect for that football or whatever your sport is fan. Fast service around the bar area. Great vibe all around. They have lots of fun drinks to choose from and the beer list is long and lots of variety. Everything from $2 PBR to the local IPA. They do have drink specials and Friday when we went they had tacos on special. Only thing I have a semi-compliant about is the prices of the appetizers- shareable tots was $7 bucks. Some prices seemed a little inflated. There's lots of places in this area, so if you are just grabbing a drink there's a strip in Old Matthews that's got lots to choose from. read more

The owner of this establishment made a huge error following Covid. He raised the prices on items, but the biggest mistake was beginning to print 'Recommended tip percentages' on customer receipts. He BEGINS with 20% and goes up to 30%. In other words, he wants us to pay more for food and drink, and also subsidize a wage increase for his waitstaff on top of that! Absolutely ridiculous. I will stick with the traditional 15% tip for 'average service' and increase it for great service. I don't go to Kristophers nearly as often as I did before this ridiculous 'recommended tip' nonsense began. read more

My son and I went there for buffalo wings Sunday evening and we were sorely disappointed. They were dry and had virtually no sauce on them--nothing at all like they were shown on the menu. To make matters worse they tasted like they were fried hours earlier and were warmed back up. If you want good wings this is not the place to go. We typically order takeout from Kristophers, and it's been fine. Today we sat down to eat. It took about 45 minutes to get our food, but an order was incomplete. No worries, stuff happens. The restrooms are awful - like no investment in maintenance in years. Other than the long wait for an incorrect order, the biggest issue is that because of some issue with the payment system, "some kind of tax is added that they can't see", making what was charged to your card is more than what the bill came to. The staff is aware, our server mentioned this happening multiple times this evening. For us, it was only a few bucks, but given managements awareness, shouldn't servers be trained to inform patrons if this up front? Something like, when delivering the final charge slip to be signed, just say "hey, you'll notice a discrepancy and here's why...". Instead, it feels like servers are fed some exceedingly improbable excuse to tell patrons who actually notice and say something. Frankly, it feels like management is manipulating the charges, and failing to own up to the problem. Our server was great. She was clearly flustered, but like lots of places, the restaurant was understaffed because they didn't anticipate the volume on a game night close to a holiday weekend. I can forgive long waits and an incomplete order, but it's hard to get over feeling like your trust has been abused. read more

Ugh Been going to this place 15+ years and the new changes have never been more apparent. Smaller portions and larger prices are a recipe for failure. Salads that used to come on a platter are now on a small salad plate. Wings that used to be large, crisp and delicious are now Uber small, bony and bland - nearly chipped a tooth. Was still hungry so added the garlic knots, and just should NOT have. Staff and manager were awesome and apologetic citing changes over the last few years and cutting corners. No longer on the must see in Charlotte list, especially with rocking places like Pizza Peel right around the corner. Watch out Kristopher's cause if you keep this up there will be a Starbucks on your old corner. ~disappointed and still hungry read more
