Leak on a 6yr old Samsung Dishwasher DW80R9950UG/AA I contacted about a dishwasher leak following my replacement of the water wall motor (known concern with this model which is now out of warranty) Bottom-line = not repaired, and I will have unit replaced through another company Used Smart Appliance over others due to: * Local company * Indicated average cost of dishwasher repair to be $110-$250 * High Google + Yelp rating & reviews * Factory Certified (I did not verify) Pro: * Real-time communication for arrival window (scheduled 2-5pm, arrived a little before 4pm) * Stan jumped right in to diagnose Neutral: * Site indicates Same Day Service, but scheduling took a couple days (not a problem since we could handwash) * Initial diagnosis visit was $99.95 (to be waived within repair fee) * Stan did not speak English and needed local WiFi for translator app (great technology to prevent this from being a Con) * Part not available from Samsung (not Smart Appliance's fault, but they took a couple days to determine) Con: * Information I provided via their site's Request Service (model # & leak details) was not available to scheduler (Sam) * Diagnosis involved removing Leak Sensor that auto-stopped the water, meaning hardwood floor was flooded a couple times without preparation to control the water * Actual repair would have been $423.23 (including $349 labor, $40 o-ring (not available), and tax) - above their site's $250 approximation, and close to 50% of the cost of a new unit replacement * Offered non-factory solution to use sealant which might have worked but would render the dishwasher non-serviceable (this could be neutral rather than Con to some) * Ambiguous statement of no charge if repair did not work as their "Policy" but not in writing, so I can only guess it does not cover the initial visit that I paid (ambiguity between "not work" and cannot fix with factory parts) read more

I would never use this company again. 102 days ago our dryer needed a new heating element. They came out and did a nice repair job. Now 12 days after their "90 day warranty" ran out, our dryer is on the fritz again. The first words out of their mouth was that the warranty was no longer valid. I asked if they had any wiggle room on that - even just for parts. They said they'd get back to me but never did. I have tried to contact them numerous times just to be told that a manager would get back to me. That's never happened. Don't be fooled. There was a part that could have been installed to keep burner element from touching, but to be fair it's not a common problem. The payment was a joke. They just gave us a dollar amount with no explanation, and we were charged another tax which I had never heard of besides the sales tax. He said it was required but I have never had someone repair anything in my house and had this second tax put on. I was trying to reach someone and they sent us a semi documented invoice but didn't explain what the hourly rate was, what their military discount was, etc. nothing against the service person at all. read more

The language was a barrier for us to understand the technician, however he was able to communicate to us that the compressor was going bad and that a replacement and adding Freon to that system. She scheduled the repairman out and he diagnoses the issue we go through with the repair and said it'd take 2-3 days for the parts to arrive. $634, 2.5 months later, 6 -7 visits in, multiple diagnoses, multiple "repairs" and still no working fridge. In reply to the owners reply, both my husband and I double checked our phones and the ONLY messages we got from your technician was two text messages on my phone and one phone call to my husband's. The two I received were when he was on his way the morning of the appointment and my husband's was the incoming call letting us know he had arrived. NOTHING afterwards. Now I keep getting calls from some woman wanting to talk to me about an appointment. Like I said in my first review and what I told the woman on the phone, we bought a new fridge and do not need your services. You could have at least called us and told us you didn't have the parts, although I don't see how you knew what parts were needed when your technician did NOTHING. Waste of time people, save your money and either buy a new appliance or look for a repair person that will at least LOOK at your appliance and tell you what's wrong. read more

Really pleased with the service I received from Smart Appliance Repair Service. I called them because my dryer wouldn't start. I was pretty sure I knew what was wrong but didn't have the time or inclination to do the repair myself. They provided a three-hour arrival window and when I requested that the tech arrive early in the window they were able to accommodate the request. Two techs arrived on-time (on a Friday) and got right to work with a systematic diagnosis process and were able to identify the problems (yes, there were two!) in pretty short order. One was what I suspected but not the second one. They did not have the parts on-hand but were able to order them and came back the following Tuesday to do the installation. Even though I was leaving town over the weekend and would not be there to pay them directly it was not a problem. I gave them my Venmo account name and they billed me through Venmo. Yes, I paid! Great work, great price, and I will make them my first call next time I have an appliance problem! read more

3 1/2 STARS. He did a good job with servicing and cleaning the dishwasher part and was efficient. We washed the dishes and worked well. Did another load but was back to worse. Appears sporadic. I text for a followup for warranty work to see if they can still fix. They responded after a few days and were willing to come back out. If they determine it was the same part then no charge. But if another issue, there still will be a service charge. I don't feel there should be another charge for a mis-diagnosis. The invoices need to have a detailed breakdown of cost and include the travel/diagnostics fee, hourly rate, any parts cost and warranty work but is not on the invoice (service tech said 6 mos but website said 30 days. So which?). This ALL should be on the invoice. Return calls/texts/emails more timely. Follow-up to ensure it is working properly would be nice especially for what it cost us. If we did another call, it could cost us almost the price of a new one. Appreciated the tech's efficient work and professionalism. Thanks :-). read more
