Every once in a while I get to sample food that can still surprise me. Radhe chat was that food, after a really long time. We ordered a few chaat things, while we were asking our server to explain the difference he said they all taste the same just subtle differences. Wrong he was not. I think we finally tried the chaat basket, the dahi papdi chaat and pani-poori. The yogurt was sour very sour. The difference between the dahi papdi chaat and the masala basket was one was flat and round and the other one was hollow basket made in a muffin tray. Brittle and undercooked (I am thinking is it even possible to concot that contradiction). Anyways I always thought that dahi papdi is one of the easiest Indian things to get right but that wasn't the case. Maybe it was just one of the days for the cook. Let's turn to the pani-puri. The water was repulsive, it looked green and had some strange taste to it. The golgappa was too brittle and too small. However, there was a silver lining the staff was very considerate, friendly, and courteous. Maybe I caught them on a wrong day, it's hard to imagine that in a dozen or so Indian restaurants a stone's throw away distance this place can survive with such lackluster food. Not sure why this place has average reviews. We tasted a variety of stuff here. The methi matter malai was incredible, papdi chaat and the thali was also good. Garlic naan, black daal and onion kulcha were delicious. Service was good given the crowded hour we went at. Little noisy but we didnt mind that. This is very much the understated chaat spot. For parking the good news is that they have their own surface lot right in front which usually has room in it for you. The bad news is that it's shared with several other businesses and as it's so small it can be tricky to maneuver around in. Still, at the end of the day you can drive here and park. Inside the seating is your plane jane table/chair combos. They can however be pushed together in order to accommodate any sized group which came in handy on our first visit-which was a birthday celebration of sixteen people including six children. As far as decor goes-I hope you like pastels. So while the dining room is not very remarkable the food is outstanding. Not the deepest menu-it's mostly just chaat, paratha, pav bahji and suchlike, with the occasional thali thrown in for those that want something more substantial. No meat of any kind-it's all pure vegetarian. The plates are so vibrant and tasty that you won't miss it though. Meatatarians might go for the cutlets (for the mouth feel) or the pav bahji (because it's so fricken awesome) instead. Not to mention that the chaat is simply divine. You can order at the front counter if you know what you want or just take a seat and order from the waiter. Chai is self serve at the counter and comes with the meal at no extra charge. When done you can pay via waiter (if you have time and are patient) or just pay at the counter on the way out. The waitstaff range from pretty good to this is my first day at my first job levels of competency, but the fresh flavorful food goes a long way towards smoothing over any small displeasure's. This place doesn't follow any covid related precautions. The chef and the cashier were not wearing gloves or masks. When I inquired whether they were following the regulations, she told that I was threatening her and call police in front of me. She started yelling on me. The restaurant was open, i came at 12 noon which are restaurant opening hours and were taking customer orders. So please don't tell me that this was a courtesy. Example Chole batura takes about 30 minutes, Pavi bhaji (which really requires toasting Pavi buns only) takes about 20 minutes with moderate to less crowd.
