Ondam is located in an inconspicuous plaza off El Camino Real with plenty of parking and a lovely, renovated interior. The seating is pretty comfortable for families / older folks and even on a Sunday at 12:15-ish, there wasn't a wait for a 4 top. Every table comes with an iPad to view the menu and order, but you can always flag down a waiter as well. I really enjoyed the banchan here; great variety and flavor, but I'd say the main dishes themselves were average. Bossam (4/5): The pork was nice and tender with a good level of sodium. Accouterments was fresh and while this won't blow your socks off, will scratch the itch. Seafood Pancake (3.75/5): There was a decent crisp on the outside, but I prefer a higher ratio of seafood and green onions rather than mostly batter. Once we were seated, we were given menus but tbh they weren't needed because you're ordering on a iPad (with pictures) anyway. Definitely think any menu item is worth a try. Service is attentive and nice! They checked in and refilled water often. Ondam is definitely a place you'd go to for a nice dinner with coworkers, friends, or on a date. From the entrance with the heavy wooden doors, lamps, and clean wooden tables, the modern interior really makes up for that upscale vibe. You even order from the tablet and banchan with waters are served upon seating. We got really lucky on a Saturday mid afternoon to be seated with no wait, so I'd recommend coming before that dinner rush. We came to share the Bossam at around $40, which is a decent price. Great amount of Napa cabbage and sides (garlic cloves, pickled radish, jalapeños) for 2 people to make us full. I will say the slice of pork was a little more on the thicker side, so it was a tiny bit tough and not as tender as I expected it to be. Love the fact that it comes with purple rice though. I also enjoyed how fresh their banchan was, especially their fish tofu like it was perfectly marinated! Their kimchi is also more on the mild side with that classic sour & spicy taste at the end. There was a looot of radish, which I had no trouble eating. Really nice and solid Korean spot. Came as a party of 10 on a Friday night at 7pm. The wait was for an hour so not too bad considering we had a larger party. Once we were seated they gave us the whole left section right at the entrance. Ordering was easy as they have iPads and the servers were super nice and accommodating. Came here for a late Wednesday dinner. The space is clean and has a classy, upscale feel. It's quiet. Food-wise, we got three dishes. The tteokbokki was average, the rice cakes and quail eggs were good, but the fish cakes were way too fishy for my taste. The kimchi pancake was solid. Good flavor, and it really shined dipped in the sauce from the side dishes. The yubu gimbap was nice, it tasted exactly like it should, great flavor all around. The side dishes across the board were excellent. One thing that bugged me: the self-serve tablet ordering. It kills the dining experience, especially somewhere that feels this nice. Finally checked off this spot in my bookmarks after living in it for a while and it was worth trying once! Would I come back? Possibly. 3.5 stars. The place itself was cute and modern and the line for the lunch rush went fast. My cousin and I were craving raw marinated crab and came here since the original place we planned for wasn't open. I'll say it was okay. $28 for boneless chicken that was a bit dry, I think I'll pass despite how nice it looks on screen. Their spicy raw marinated crab was on the smaller side and although it had a tasty flavor profile, there wasn't any noticeable spice. If anything, it was actually sweet and maybe I'm just used to the savoriness from other spots I've tried and liked. People were constantly coming in, which made me think the food would be really good. I ordered the seafood pancake and the batter was mushy and not as crispy compared to other places, so you get sick of it real quick. The japchae was good, but it's more on the wet side. The spicy pork was not spicy at all, and it came with SO MUCH OIL. It was pretty shocking to see that the whole platter was literally drenched in oil, like soupy oil. Seafood tofu soup was alright. Nothing special. Both of the drinks that I got were good. I got blue mountain with alcohol and it tasted like a blue raspberry jolly rancher. First time going, we ordered: corn cheese $11.99 steak sot bap $31.99 seolleongtang $20.99 seafood pancake $20.99 I would avoid the steak sot bap. Steak was not good and lacked flavor, but the rice is really good! Since going, our usual is the seolleongtang and tofu stew. I do think their seolleongtang could use more meat. I felt that I got the side dishes the second I sat down, so again, super fast/convenient service. For the food, I got a few dishes: Rose Tteokbokki, Bulgogi Gimbap, and the tray of fried chicken. The food was heavenly, and I still had leftovers even though I was a party of two! All the dishes were as described in the menu, and the photos were accurate from the tablet/menu. Usually it seems like there is a bit of a wait and they only take reservations if the party is greater than 5, so we went for an early dinner around 430pm on a Monday and we were the only ones there! A few parties trickled in after. So if you want to try Ondam and not wait an hour, come in on an off hour! Such a clean space. Everything from the tables to the chairs.. utensils and bowls so clean. Makes me want to eat! Between two, we shared the beef tofu soup, kimchi mandoo, and galbi tang. The galbi tang was a lot bigger than we were expecting but it was so reviving. Tasted like it's been stewing for hours. The beef tofu soup was also really good and had a generous amount of tofu and beef! What fell short for us was the mandoo. They are HUGE by the way. Just in case you were wondering why it might be a little pricey. It fell short for us because the filling wasn't very flavorful and almost tasted bland. I went tried, true, and boring with a bimbimbap. It was delicious and a humongo serving as a second meal- breakfast the next am. My friend got kalguksu which I had never heard of. The noodles were hand made, soft, and melted in your mouth. The broth was quite tasty. Not a fan of the roe and fish intestines. However I'll tolerate it for the quality of food, banchan, and the banchan refills. I do wish they'd replace the Mac n cheese banchan with either oshinko or pickled cucumbers. Yum. This was my second time dining here. I was able to join the yelp waitlist on my way here and got seated right away when we arrived. My boyfriend got the steak sot bap, and it was honestly mid. The steak was dry, chewy and extremely bland. I got the beef brisket sot bap and it was pretty good! I like that the sot bap is paired with a seaweed soup. We also got a seafood pancake to share. Probably one of my favorite Korea establishments as of recent! They have a huge offering of foods and everything is so delicious! The hanok style interior is such a vibe and cozy. A few favorites here include the Royal Court Tteokbokki, Tteokbokki Kimbap, Oyster and Pork Bossam. Would pass on the cocktails and the spicy marinated crab here. The portions are super generous and everything is flavorful without being overly salty or spicy. Solid banchan here as well. Food comes out pretty quickly and fresh from the kitchen, haven't had issues feeling like food was sitting out too long. Price is actually pretty good for quality of food and in general for Korean food in the area. Always leave here with a little take out box! The pork was well-seasoned, warm, and encircled by accompaniments (esp pickled radish!!) that made for a fulfilling yet light meal. Each of the six banchan were actually very tasty! I love how they already started to decorate for Christmas too---it was so festive! We ordered on an iPad, and the food came out some time after. 3/15/25 My husband and I met up with another couple at Ondam for dinner. It's located in a small plaza that has a small parking lot. My friend told us we should all be there by 5pm since it's a very popular Korean restaurant. We got there by 5:10pm. Since the other couple was not here yet, the restaurant would not seat us until our whole party was there. After my friend and her boyfriend arrived, we waited an additional 10 to 15 minutes for a table to be ready for us. All the ordering is primarily done on the tablet at your table. This is what we got to share: - seafood pancake - kimchi mandoo - spicy marinated raw crab - tteobokki - bulgogi gimbap My friend and her boyfriend had ordered some drinks for themselves as well. We waited perhaps 10 minutes before all the dishes started coming out. Of all the dishes we ordered the raw crab was my least favorite. It was pretty spicy and also slimy and messy since the meat is still in the crab shell. The seafood pancake was stuffed full with seafood. The pancake itself was slightly crunchy on the outside and cooked to perfection. The kimchi mandoo were fairly large and super delicious. The tteobokki thankfully wasn't too spicy and was cooked well also, not too chewy and not hard. The gimbap was super yummy, kinda wish I had that entire roll to myself haha.
