I came at 8 am with my friends. There wasn't any line. I ordered two items that aren't the most popular: Earl Grey Morning Bun and Bacon Egg and Cheese Focaccia Slice, and my friends ordered the Smoked Salmon Sandwich and the French Onion Soup Bread. Radio Bakery is very popular in NYC and I thought to give it a try. We were at the Greenpoint location at 9AM on Friday morning and the line was out the door. The wait was about 30 minutes but this location is very accessible since the train station is right at the intersection. Our favorite items were the earl gray morning bun and the salmon focaccia! I wish I had gotten savory options, but I only stuck with sweet because I needed to save room in my stomach for the full day of eats I had ahead. I got the brown butter corn cake, apple brown butter croissant, and the earl grey morning bun. My favorite was the brown butter corn cake. So simple yet so delicious. The inside wss moist while the outside was hardened from the caramelized brown butter, making the edges crispy and chewy. I was worried the corn cake would be dry, but it was nowhere near that. The apple brown butter croissant was my next favorite. Apples were nicely baked. They weren't too soft, and they still had a little crunch. I was so so excited to try Radio Bakery and ended up stopping by on multiple days on my recent trip to NYC as I was staying nearby. I was able to try the: - Triple chocolate croissant: delicious and super decadent! This is probably one of their most well-known standing pastries and it's super rich dark chocolate with a nice cream filling and I loved that while it feels indulgent, it's at the same time flaky and airy inside without being too heavy - Scallion sesame swirl: loved the flavor of the scallion and sesame together. Personally I gravitate toward savory pastries and this really hit the spot. Could eat this everyday for breakfast! - Seasonal stonefruit & custard danish: I really enjoyed the juicy, sweet, perfectly ripe half peach on the danish. I'm not a huge fan of creme anglaise as it's generally a little sweet for me but this one was balanced out by the flaky danish shell and overall a nice sweet treat. - Heirloom tomato croissant: this reminded me of a tomato bruschetta with a nice flavorful cold tomato topping. I am not a morning person, but I got myself up and out of bed early enough to arrive by about 8:30 on a recent weekend. It was worth it, as at that time they still had everything I was interested in trying, and I only waited about 5-10 minutes total. Smoked Salmon focaccia: just like a smoked salmon everything bagel, but make it focaccia. The bread is sooo good: fluffy and chewy at the same time. Great flavors, from the fresh dill to the melt-in-your-mouth salmon. The only piece I didn't love was the pickled onions, which I thought were slightly overpowering. Shakshuka focaccia slice: So creative and tasty! This actually has hard-boiled eggs baked in to the bread. The tangy, Za'atar- spiced tomato sauce is baked and has a burnt quality. Earl grey morning bun: Excellent, especially with coffee! The consistency of this is like a cardamom or cinnamon bun, but it's topped with a mild tea flavor / sugar rather than icing or a crunchy glaze. All the outdoor seats were taken so we ate on a stop near by but the park/waterfront is pretty close too. The tuna sandwich is literally one of my favorites. The sesame baguette and the lemon zest / peppercinis mixed into the tuna salad are chefs kiss. The focaccia bread is baked to perfection. The croissant had a good pistachio flavored filling, but I was surprised at how it was less crispy than the corn tart, though still yummy! I also tried the latte and iced peach tea, which were both lightly sweet and paired well with the sweet pastries. I swear, this is not a regular sandwich and you have to get it before they sell out because it's one of their most, if not the most, popular items! WHOMP ! wasn't meant to be. Also picked up an EARL GREY MORNING BUN as well as a BROWN BUTTER CORN CAKE. First of all, im not a fan of earl grey or English teas but the flavor of this EARL GREY MORNING BUN was really good. Strong earl grey flavor in a "rolled up bun" kind of like a cinnamon roll coated with probably also earl grey infused sugar or something. Definitely not easy to eat but delicious ! Next was the BROWN BUTTER CORN CAKE. Amazingly caramelized edges with the NUTTINESS of the brown butter leaving this CORN CAKE quite ADDICTING to eat. It was like corn bread on steroids. Okay came here on a Tuesday at 12:30 and there was no line. Sold out of most pastries. But the corn tart comes out at 12:00 and we got that and holy it was so FRESH and crispy and crunchy and slightly warm. The pastry shell was soooooo FLAKY. And the flavor of the actual tart filling was good like an egg tart with corn flavor. We also tried the brown butter corn cake and it was gas. Brown Butter Corn Cake (4.25/5): This is like if a financier and a corn bread had a baby. I already love both of those baked goods, so this was a home run. Very slightly dry mouthfeel if you eat the whole thing in one go like I did, but it was buttery, sweet, and slightly crisp in the best ways. After a couple failed attempts of getting here on time, we finally made it on a Sunday morning around 10 AM! It's a little nerve wracking watching people in front of you grabbing the items you want, but they seem to restock pretty quickly especially earlier in the day. Make sure you arrive well before noon or there's a good chance they'll sell out. The line moves at a pretty okay speed and I think they work efficiently to get people in and out. The line comes and goes in waves though- when we first arrived it wasn't too bad and by the time we left it was reallllllyy long. Burrata sandwich (proscuitto, basil on focaccio bread) - This sandwich was very delicious but not as amazing as the roasted turkey one. The burrata paired so well w the proscuitto and basil & that focaccio bread is crack! Super savory and flavorful. I would reorder this sandwich if there is no turkey available. Staff was friendly and nice. The shop is smaller than the bklyn heights one. The people on line are not as well mannered as the ones at the bklyn heights store. After trying their other items at their bklyn heights location (smoked salmon sandwich, everything spiced focaccio, sesame scallion twist, pistachio croissant, coconut chocolate croissant), overall ranking would be: #1 roasted turkey sandwich, #2 smoked salmon sandwich, #3 brown butter corn cake. I had somebody bring me a variety of parties from radio bakery so I don't have much to say about the store itself but the line wasn't too long on a Friday morning! We had the earl grey morning bun which was so great! The tea flavor balances the butter and sugar very well. We also had the scallion cream cheese sandwich which I would recommend eating fresh because although it was good, it was a little hard to eat cold. Lastly we had the pistachio croissant which I didn't think I'd like since I'm not the biggest pistachio fan but it was truly so good! I think anything you get from here will be amazing! read more

Ran over recently on a Thursday morning and there was barely a line. Got their seasonal/special French onion soup croissant/danish. Probably one of the best things that I ate here recently. Savory, slightly sweet, creamy. Still warm when I took a bite. I'm usually more of a sweet tooth, but I would definitely make an exception for this one! read more

One of the best bakeries in Greenpoint! It makes sense why there is a long line here but it does go by quickly. My friend and I shared a couple of things including the tomato focaccia, an earl grey morning bun, a cheesy bear claw, and a pistachio croissant. The focaccia here is ten out of ten. So fresh and so delicious! Definitely come by for their bread and their focaccia sandwiches. The morning bun was my next favorite because it was the perfect amount of tea flavor. Overall pastries here are fantastic, you can't go wrong! They also serve hot coffee in the cute NYC themed Greek coffee cups, which was fun since I've never gotten the chance to have one! read more

...I personally detest each and every one of you and sincerely hope you suffer from something gluten allergy related... So to tell the family secret, I am NOT a patient person. I am the least patient person that I know, and I don't tend to stick around to find out otherwise. For the past 15 years I measure the relative performance of my computing hardware by having them emulate a playstation portable and by running the game Wipeout Pure (yes, I have a physical copy on UMD) where I get to blast through futuristic cityscapes at ridiculous speeds on various resolutions to stress test its performance. Some machines (like my Apple silicon Macs) do well - others like my Qualcomm Snapdragon Windows 2023 dev kit? Not so much. I made a living helping my employer fine-tune servers so it can do the figurative equivalent of yanking bread off the hands of others quant trading, so as Mav would've said on Top Gun - I have a need, a need for speed. But yet, here we are on a sweltering humid 90 degree Saturday morning on India street, waiting on a long line while trying to score some baked goods. So when it came to indulging my wife's predilection towards carbs, I prefer more rustic and more crisp goods. As a true-blue Canto-boy, I grew up on baked goods from Chinatown bakeries, which run the gamut from mushy eggy brioche-like breads to commercially available puff-pastry stuff...to the point where I detest them equally, and since I pass by a greenmarket every other weekday where artisanal baked goods are relatively easy to come by, it's not like I am starved for choices, so why am I waiting here? Well, for one it's within walking distance from WNYC Transmitter park on the Greenpoint waterfront so you can grab something with a coldbrew and doggy-bag al fresco here if you are not in the mood for Taku Sando or Paulie G's. For two, they have a fairly solid selection and their stuff is on-point. The proscuitto and burrata focaccia with pesto? Flaky creamy and salty but not too oily. The cauliflower baguette sandwich? Flavorful without being too dry. The brown butter corn cake tastes more like a pudding, sweet and tender but with a nice crumb. The croissant was decent as well... That being said, I've only been there twice and have been very very hesitant to go back again. Why? Well, for one, that freaking line never seems to get any shorter so any attempt that me and the missus had scoring anything is at least a 20 minute affair, and throughout the entire ordeal it's me and my missus dealing with the stinkfaces from the poor schlubs who bought townhouses on India street, or the Millenials on that damned line, and their emotional support dogs...which makes me irrationally angry, like "wow you people look out of place here quit duckfacing your foccacia on instagram and get back to Levittown" angry. And for two, Nick+Sons on Lorimer, which is a 10 minute walk (or one stop down on the G train) serves baked goods just as good, often better, and they serve Parlor Coffee's cold brew, which I enjoy immensely. Their line also moves faster than the one for Radio. Me and the missus prefer cutting back on carbs in general, but if we want baked goods, we skip Radio Bakery and go somewhere else (I can think of at least 3 places in Greenpoint I'll rather grab pastry or bread from). It's not bad per-se but life's too short to be spent waiting on lines...plus if you really wanna doggybag something to WNYC Transmitter Park just get something from Jubilee Marketplace, ovenly or Maman instead. read more

I keep dreaming about this bakery..... The standout pastry was the browned butter cornbread. This is the type of food I'll eat two bites of at the start and then wait until the end of the meal to savor the last few bites because I love to end on a high note. There is a perfect chew to the almost toffee-like texture of the outside of the cornbread, and it's moist in the middle. The seasonal apple pastry was another favorite as well - flaky, not too sweet, and warmed by the sweet vanilla perfuming all throughout the pastry. Just in awe of the variety and attention to detail for the pastries I tried. I wish I took the whole bakery home, but more of a reason to come back!!! read more
