They had a weekend special cereal milk cold brew latte I wanted to try and I ended up getting the last one! There was a small line Sunday morning but it took maybe 5 minutes. I ordered the latte and their original cinnamon roll. The space inside is only enough for 2-3 groups to order, no seating. The latte was good but a little too sweet for me, and the cinnamon roll was good, especially the icing.
First Impressions: made the mistake of coming here on a Saturday in the afternoon (approximately 2pm) and ALL the pastries we wanted to try were gone!! We made sure to come back Sunday about an hour after opening and got a bunch of yummy pastries.. Do yourself a favor and come early before everything sells out! First impressions: their croissant cinnamon buns are fantastic! Light, airy, flaky, warm and just the right amount of sweetness... also the pastry to frosting ratio was perfect! In Conclusion: 100% worth coming back a second time (and getting SOAKED) by a sudden spring shower the first time (Saturday) because when we came back on Sunday it was a bright and sunny day

Croissant was nice and crispy. * Turkish egg croissant - a runny egg on top of a savory yogurt base and drizzled with chili crisp and dill. Suuuuuper crispy and flakey. * Everything cruffin - everything seasoning with a chive cream cheese. Probably my least favorite - cream cheese could use more chive flavor and the others had a crispier, flakier dough, but understandable, as this is their special take on the everything bagel and cream cheese combo Came on a Saturday at 9:30am. There was no wait and all pastries were in stock! It's a little pricey but delicious.

Heard so many good things about Tall Poppy and finally got to try it. I've been a few times now and have to say they definitely are one of the best bakeries in Manhattan and love the concept that everything they do here is with laminated dough, including their quite impressive cinnamon roll that holds its own in the now stiff competition of Cinnamon Rolls in NYC. The cream cheese frosting was nice and smooth, on the sweeter side, not too funky, and that lamination in the dough was nice and airy, with a crunch that went throughout which you don't get to often. I for one like crunch as a texture, though I know cinnamon rolls tend to be soft/doughy. Their regular croissants were also delicious and definitely high ranking in NYC, I'd say. The rotating flavors are great too, including this cookie crusted one that wasn't too sweet despite the name.
I love a cinnamon roll so I finally tried one from Tall Poppy. When I got to the bakery, there were only 2 left! Mikayla (I think that was her name) was lovely to talk to. She shared the specials they had. I went home and heated up my cinnamon roll in the air fryer. It tasted much better after being heated up. It tasted like an elevated Cinnabon but crispier edges. I liked the frosting a lot. It wasn't my favorite cinnamon roll I've had in nyc but it's still solid!
Even though I got there not too long after it opened, there was already a small queue with the counter looking pretty empty! Definitely a rising star in the NYC bakery scene.
Oh my what a selection of carbs! Lol Stopped by for a brown butter cookie. They were sold out but managed to find one for me. Just under $5 for this treat! Chocolate chip brown butter with a hint of sea salt was very good! If you're feeling more indulgent, they are known for their cinnamon rolls and giant croissants. (Approx $10) Perhaps after I run a few miles I can try them! Hah! Small bakery with no indoor seating or restroom. There is one small table outside. They also sell coffee!
Absolutely love this bakery! They have rotating monthly specials-- they had a passionfruit/guava croissant and key lime bun (my personal favorite) for May. The croissants and buns are so crispy but also soft on the inside, I highly recommend trying. I will be back in the upcoming months to try their new flavors!!
Came in at 8a on a Tuesday and the place had no line . I got the key lime pastry and the guava croissant - both were very good - good amount of filling and dough was crispy and tasty . Not cheap (about 10$ a pastry)
Fun bakery specials? I'm there. Tall Poppy has a buffalo chicken croissant for March Madness, and I knew I had to try. Also snagged their brown sugar pop tart inspired croissant. The staff was so kind and helpful in this tiny shop. They do have a few tables outside to enjoy the treats. I also got this cute hat to commemorate this bakery stop
Croissants at Tall Poppy are always a delight to eat. Invariably I come here after exercising around 1 pm which then gives me all pastries at half price. While that's nice but one day I want to come early so that I can see everything that's been put out for the day. This time I also got a carrot cake in the shape of a muffin which I ate later. It was toothsome. I also had the pleasure of meeting Nina, the charming Australian owner. Tall Poppy is quite small but packed with deliciousness. Highly recommended.
Amaretto almond croissant was def the best of all the pastries I've tried. it was crazyyyyy good I probably would say best almond croissant I've ever had. The praline was excellent. The hot cross bun I was not super excited for but it was good. It was just like layers of thin pastry with custard and fruit but it was gas - kinda like an Apple tart or smtg. The everything cruffin good flavor and I love cream cheese especially savory, but the dough was severely underbaked in the one I had. Cookie was nothing to write home about, just a normal choco chip not very gooey or crispy or chewy. Second time I got tiramisu croissant, pistachio croissant, and normal cinnamon roll. The pistachio croissant was great. Although a little sweet it had a nutty flavor. Tiramisu had like a tiramisu cream cheese ish filling which I wasn't a super big fan of. It was def too sweet. Both croissants were slightlyyyy soggy but I mean they probably came out in the morning but still buttery just not superrr crunchy. Cinnamon roll was good. Pretty dense but not bready and soft like other cinnamon rolls. Was probably croissant dough ish but I kind of liked that it wasn't superrr mushy. But the icing and cinnamon flavors were good honestly I liked this a lot. It was comparable to somedays bun but I liked the blueberry icing better over there. More flavor depth. Still a great and unique cinnamon roll. There is no seating inside sooooo watch out for that. Two small tables outside. Employees are super nice though and the pastry case is beautiful. LOVEEEE the rotating menus.

I don't have a crazy sweet tooth, but a good pastry will have me folding like a chair. I've tried going to Tall Poppy on two separate Saturdays only to find they were sold out, so I'm happy to have lucked out on a Wednesday morning last month for some of their confections, which lived up to the hype. I went the week of the NBA finals, and was so excited to see their own nod to the Knicks, with a basketball adorned bun. I ended up getting savory cheddar and scallion twist, a raspberry almond croissant, and mango sticky rice danish. Everything was delicious and utterly dripping with butter, but the mango sticky rice was a stand out. it had actual sticky rice in the interior! Their iced coffee was also tasty and I want to return for their house made pop tarts. I trust everything they make will be good and I hope they open more locations! read more
We saw a sugar cookie almond croissant, and based off our reaction, you'd think we won the lottery - the space is really small with just a counter to order at with the pastries on display. there are two little tables outside, but it was raining so we had to sneak into a nearby coffee shop to eat. - i'm on a massive cinnamon roll kick so I was excited to try this one out. I was pleasantly surprised that the cream cheese frosting was not sickly sweet and the specs of vanilla bean still allowed for the cream cheese flavor to shine - the roll was harder than I would like & was definitely needing a metal knife to cut through. more of a croissant layered texture where each part of the swirl had many layers of breading. the bottom had a crystallized sugar layer that was delectable but the whole roll wasn't very sweet. it was definitely different than the classic super sugary melty soft gushing rolls but in a way that made it unique - sugar cookie almond croissant reportedly had a good consistency & rainbow sprinkles always add to a good vibe+ flavor, only disappointment was very limited filling inside of the croissant. read more

If you love laminated pastries, do not skip this place. The place may be small, but they have a full assortment of buttery treats. I tried the Everything Cruffin, a croissant filled with scallion cream cheese and topped with everything bagel seasoning. It was flaky, savory, and delicious. Be prepared for some crumbs, but it's a small price to pay for a pastry this good. Looking forward to coming back for the seasonal rotations! read more
If you only do one thing, you better do it well. Tall Poppy does baked goods exceptionally well. Currently, our bar for classic croissants is Librae's. I'd rank Tall Poppy an easy second or third right behind Librae for its plain croissant. It's nothing to sneeze at, but doesn't unseat Librae from its reign of exceptionalism. Their everything cruffin reminded me a bit of Librae's za'atar labneh morning bun, and Tall Poppy absolutely nailed the execution on this laminated pastry filled with a chived cream cheese. This was definitely my favorite of the three items we sampled. We rounded out our selection with something on the sweeter end of the spectrum: an almond croissant. Unlike others I've tried, Tall Poppy's rendition features an almond cream filling rather than a crust/topping. It feels more decadent to me than others of its ilk. I felt ambivalent about this version--no complaints, just a different type of pleasing pastry. In a city teeming with outstanding bakeries, Tall Poppy casually holds its own. Its tiny, unassuming storefront (awkwardly located next to a garbage pile) belies the talent that churns out novel leavened luxuries. read more

Cute and yummy at a high pricepoint. We visited because we kept hearing good things about their cinnamon rolls. Now, they were unique and crispy, but couldve been better if warmed and gooey. Not worth $9 in our opinion... even if it's NYC. Now the egg florentine cruffin was delicious! Flaky, flavorful, herby, jammy egg, topped with a vinegary aioli... not mad about the purchase. But still, can't quite get over the pricepoint. Not sure we'll make it back-- maybe for the merch? Eyeing the tank and the sweatshirt! I've personally never been in person, but I've had my husband pick up a few things for me to try. He's picked up a few rolls along with the everything croissant and the seasonal sugar cookie almond croissant. The almond croissant was great, and PACKED full of flavor. The rolls were not my favorite as I just don't prefer a laminated dough roll. The best thing about Tall Poppy are their inventive flavors, but my husband has told me once they're out of something for the day, that's it. So, if there is something specific you want to try - go early! read more

Honestly, was blown away by Tall Poppy, I went here based on the recommendation of a friend and I'm so glad I did! It's the cutest little shop where there's just enough space to walk in, order, and take your treats to go. I received a warm welcome upon walking in, and they answered all my questions about the pastries available that morning. The savory focaccia was delicious, but my top two standouts on the sweet end were the Cherry Ripe cookie and the Strawberry Rhubarb Bun which I immediately devoured and wished I had more of. You definitely should check out this spot, I'm bummed that I can't go on a regular basis myself! read more

cutest little bakery in chelsea! popped in here after a workout at barry's bootcamp - it's right across the street. their special easter croissant was sold out but the brown sugar poptart croissant was incredible!!! super sweet so you have to be in the mood for it. sooo flakey. the girl behind the counter was so nice. iced matchas were authentic and refreshing. they have a few two seater tables outside if you want to sit and eat. need to go back to purchase the croissant sweatpants - they're adorable! read more

I've heard good things about tall poppy, and as a croissant lover, I was excited to see what tall poppy had to offer. I got there around 1pm (1hr prior to closing) and most of their pastries were sold out. I grabbed a chocolate croissant, which was pretty highly priced at $7.50. The croissant looked pretty but flavor and texture were pretty disappointing. It lacked flakiness, flavor and tasted a bit stale to be honest. Maybe it's because it was towards the end of the day but wasn't sure what the hype was about. read more
INCREDIBLE bakery!! We came here around 11am on a Friday and they had already sold half of their pastries. Come early if you want the entire selection! Highly highly recommend this spot! We got the everything cruffin and the strawberry miso bun. Both had just came out of the over and were slightly warm. The everything cruffin was gooey and so flavorful! The strawberry miso bun was slightly savory but was perfectly sweetened and so moist inside. Honestly can't come back to try more soon! read more
Came at noon on a Monday and there was no line! Super friendly service. Tried the recommended seasonal shakshuka croissant ($8) and it was un.real. there was egg and tomato and cheese inside one beautiful croissant!! Not sure how they managed to achieve such a beautiful thing. Sat outside to enjoy. Also tried their original croissant which was okay, enjoyed the unique flaky exterior and doughy interior. Will definitely have to return to try the everything cruffin! read more
Teeny tiny small-batch bakery, mostly for takeout. Don't let the long queues scare you, this place is pretty efficient and worth the wait! Service is friendly and I never felt in a rush to make a decision. We ordered the everything cruffin and prosciutto & gruyère. Both were phenomenal and I'd love to come back and try more pastries! They have tons of "traditional" pastries with a lot of unique flavors like a cacio e pepe cruffin or a goat cheese and pecan croissant. read more
Pretty great baked goods. Love the fact they provide ample fillings for their flavored croissants. They usually have two sets of tables outside for seating. It's a tiny walk-in order and walk out kinda place. If you need a spot to sit, walk further down to a park with ample benches and picnic tables. read more
I just left Tall Poppy and I'm writing this review in the lobby of hair salon. My wife is getting her hair done so I have time to enjoy my freshly baked croissant. And did this croissant shoot up to the top five in NYC! Tall Poppy has been open for about two weeks and already there is a buzz. I left super early from Long Island and I blazed it just right, there's only 4 people in front of me. Once inside, it's standing room only. There is no place to sit and eat while sipping on lattes. Get your baked items and GTFO. I must point out they ran out of pistachio croissants, the next batch will be ready at 9:30. Oh well. Forget all that nonsense. The reason why we're all here on line is to try this new comer from down under. This is New York City, a pretty face on TikToc will get you so far. Well I'm happy to report the ladies have planted their flag and make an incredible product. Buttery, flakey and the interior of the croissant was spongy?! Man, that's just lovely on Saturday morning. My wife is in the car and I watched her take a bite. She had the same look of curiosity, what is that?? The cookie was the same thing, we broke it open to find its loaded with chocolate. Levain shouldn't be concerned but the Tall Poppy cookie was small but packed a serious chocolate punch. Tall poppy, it was a pleasure to try one of the top 5 croissants in my New York City. read more
Adorable new spot serving killer croissants in Chelsea. I got the plain and it was $7.08. I missed the chocolate by seconds and that was unfortunate. You've got to go early The plain was super flaky but topped with an untraditional simple syrup which left my hands sticky. Will try the chocolate soon.. read more
Came by to try a couple items from the May menu (the spanakopita bun and tiramisu croissant) and alas was not impressed. Firstly, the tiramisu croissant was really small for the price (8 bucks) and the taste did not account for it either. The amount of cream within was appalling. Literally dime sized and just tasted like coffee grounds with huge pieces of dark chocolate. The lamination was beautiful but that was about it. The spanakopita bun was okay, the filling was few and far between but taste wise the spinach cheese mixture was enjoyable but wish there was a lot more within. Unfortunately because both savory and sweet totally unimpressed me I can't say I'll be back (but if they do a vegetarian eggs Benny pastry I WILL give them one more try) read more
