I highly recommend Radnor Vet. I have been so very happy with Dr. Len Donato's expertise, demeanor, thoroughness, professionalism, and compassion for both the dogs I've taken to him. He's always given me all the time and then some that I've needed for every appointment, and we've had very in-depth, informative, and open-minded conversations about every health issue and treatment my dogs encountered. I'm kind of obsessed with knowing more than a pet owner even really needs to know and obsessed with viewing potential solutions from every single angle - and Dr. Donato has always accommodated me, which I greatly appreciate! And he has always impressed me with how vast and up-to-date his knowledge is. I don't see how you could choose a better vet. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL, to say the very least. I wish there was a 0 stars option. I signed up for a Yelp account, solely to write this review, that's how strongly I feel. The doctors seem strange, insecure, and not very knowledgeable. Can't or won't answer questions. The techs (except one really sweet woman with glasses) are awful. Immature, weird, and antisocial. No manners or professional courtesy. The girl at the front desk is crazy. Years ago, with other doctors and personnel, it was great. Not anymore. DO NOT take your pet there. Trust these reviews. I wish I had. These people make an already troubling experience (sick pet) worse, and rip you off while they're doing it. I've really never seen a place run like this. read more

Quickly got my cat an appointment. However, this Dr. Donato is completely rude and unprofessional!! I was "recommended" a blood panel test of a lot of $ and said I would be notified the next morning of results. A week later, I had to go and get results on my own! He didnt care about my pet, just my money! Finally, he told me there was nothing else he would do about not notifying me and said he would transfer my paperwork elsewhere!! I would recommend this hospital only if you enjoy dealing with rude dr's who don't care about your pets! I wish I had read this reviews befor I went there. read more

I have been taking my pets to see Dr. Donato for 10+ years. My first experience was taking my American Eskimo to Dr Donato when my dog broke his leg as a puppy while in training for a dog show. The Vet in my local area felt that since my dog was a show dog that I should go to a Vet that would be more qualified in this type of surgery. Although it was as 2 hour drive the results were amazing. My dog was healed and training again in no time and went on to win numerous ribbons. If you did not know which leg was broken you would never be able to tell. I have since been taking my pets to Dr. Donato for any type of surgery/procedure. Dr. Donato and the staff at Radnor Veterinary have always been polite and courteous, I highly reccomend Radnor Vet. read more

Horrendously Expensive, Greedy, Not Compassionate. Radnor vet Hospital is an expensive vet specialty hospital that cares more about their bottom line than the pet or the owner. If you allow Radnor vet Hospital to diagnose your pet, be prepared to spend what you saved up your whole life for any initial service. This is hard for me to write, as I am a hopeless rabbit lover. I know too well about the importance (it's mandatory) of seeking out a "rabbit knowledgeable" Vet. For years, I used Penn Animal Hospital in Jennersville, PA - Dr. Beck -- who was superb. But it was an 1.5 hour shlepp each way, and obviously not practical in case of an emergency. So I switched to Radnor Vet. I didn't notice anything "off" at first, but soon I experienced the following supremely uncomfortable incidences. I am a freelance graphic artist. After being an established patient and having spent a good amount of $$ on bunny care (NOT cheap) , my business was slow. On a visit, I asked Dr. Donato if I could have a break, due to my current circumstances. To my astonishment, he flat out answered "No, I've been burned." This, coming from a Vet, really surprised me?? On another occasion, ~2yrs later, after at this point spending a few thousand dollars on my bunnies in a 5-7 yr span. During an exam, I asked Dr. Donato if he would mind if I wrote a post-dated check. (It would have been maybe 1 week delayed.) He said "that's fine." Then, in the waiting room while writing my check, suddenly his Office Mgr appeared and embarrassed me in front of the whole Reception area and other patients by stating rudely and loudly, "We don't accept post-dated checks here!" I felt humiliated. It was disturbing. At that point, Dr. Donato appeared and stated that he "forgot " to relay the message to his mgr. By that time, it was too late. I had already suffered embarrassment. It was awful! My last trip there was frantically driving a much adored bunny when his kidney failure had exacerbated. He died on my chest while enroute. When my little guy was pronounced dead, I collapsed. The vet (not Donato) said, and I quote "There will be no charge. Don't worry about any bill." That was 2 yrs ago. I have not been back. Fast forward to 3 days ago. I decided to adopt another bunny thru a Rabbit Rescue. Naturally, I gave Radnor Vet as my doc. When the Rescue checked references, Radnor told them I owed a balance of $55. I was clueless about this, since I hadn't been there for 2 yrs! More importantly, I NEVER received a bill. Becuz of this info from Radnor, the Rescue denied my application! Not to mention, having spent probably a few thousand dollars on the one bun, alone, with the renal failure. In conclusion, for these reasons, I would not recommend using this hospital, unless you're dripping with money. Dr. Donato has money signs in his eyes, and little to no human compassion. The adjective "Cloak & Dagger" comes to mind, since I have found him to be disingenuous. There are many other options for good Exotic (Bunny) care out there, and thats where I will go. Just research House Rabbit Society online and select "Recommended Vets". I hope this helps someone else. I don't want to see anyone else experience this. read more

While it is no surprise to us, the doctors and staff here are very caring, compassionate while at the same time very professional in their care of the animals. We did not go here to be coddled, but, rather to have our two new kittens examined and cared for as needed. Even so, the staff was every bit as nice to us as they were to our kittens. On April 18, I noticed that my female plumhead parakeet wasn't quite acting herself. I kept my eye on her just thinking it as a passing "thing" and she'd be fine since she seemed to be eating. The next day, no change. Upon close examination, I noticed a large bulge in her vent area. I'm not an expert but assumed she was egg bound which can be fatal if not immediately addressed. I called Radnor Vet Hospital and was given an immediate appointment. I have never used Dr. Donato before but he's given numerous talks at my bird club and has been impressive each and every time. After a few x-rays, Dr. Donato confirmed that my parrot was egg bound and that the overall condition of the bird wasn't good. I left the bird in his care not expecting a good outcome. I got a call later in the day from him stating that he removed the egg and that the bird was doing much better. He treated her dehydration and administered antibiotics. They kept the bird that night to keep tabs on her. The following day, 4/21. I got a call saying I could pick up the bird! When I got her home, she was about 85% of her normal self. As I write this, she's now 200% of her previous self! Her appetite is better than ever before, she's singing like before, and (this is hard to describe)she seems very appreciative of all the love and help Radnor Vet Hospital gave her. The hospital is an awesome place, the staff were helpful and friendly, but most of all, Dr. Donato brought my very sick parrot back from the brink of death! read more

Unfortunately, you cannot give lower than one-star ratings. My dog was a regular at this vet for over 3 years and was grossly misdiagnosed by the veterinarians at this facility. The problem isn't the vets though, it's the owner. The goal of this establishment seems to be to get the vets "in-and-out" within 15-20 minutes tops to ensure the highest profit margin possible. The care for your animal goes by the wayside. As a result of regular misdiagnosis, my dog had to go through numerous treatments and numerous specialty doctors in an attempt to repair the damage already done by Radnor Vet. Unfortunately, "animal tort law" has not yet evolved to protect our pets from establishments like this. Highly suggest going elsewhere. read more

We have been disappointed overall in the care our dog has received here. On two separate occasions, due to concerns about the diagnosis and treatment he received, we have had to seek second opinions from another provider (who was able to correctly diagnose and treat these conditions after one visit). This meant putting our dog through additional stress and discomfort in order to ensure that he received proper care. In addition, needing a second opinion meant that we ended up spending twice as much money on his care as we would have had he been correctly diagnosed and treated in the first place. Due to these issues, we lost confidence in Radnor Vet and have opted to switch providers for good. read more

This place euthanised a cat I brought in to have checked out without contacting me or anyone involved. I have been taking my dog here for years for routine care without any issue. So when my neighbor and I found a kitten crying out in my backyard we took it in. It was very friendly and affectionate and loved the kids. We took it to the vet to see if it had a chip implanted so we might find its owner since we had no luck with the police or calling around the neighborhood. The people at Radnor vet took it into the back to examine it. When they came back they said it did not have a chip but that they had found a cut on it and would need to keep it for 10 days quarantine. They refused to give the cat back. We thought it was in good hands and so began trying to find potential adopters of which we found 3. When anyone tried to contact them regarding the cat the receptionst rudely told them they could not discuss the case with them. Four days after we initally took the cat in they informed us it had been euthanised to test for rabies (which was negative). At no point did they contact anyone for permission or to notify of their intent. They were rude, defensive and unapologetic. We are still outraged over their conduct and would NOT recommend them to anyone. I have since reported them to the PA Vet board and the PA ASPCA. read more

I have been going to Radnor Veterinary Hospital for years. They provide a family atmosphere and seem to really enjoy their jobs. The receptionists frequently come out to greet my dog and me when I come in the door. The doctors are very knowledgable and are kind. They call me back to make sure all is well if I came in with a problem. I have had a very good experience over the years and I know I can trust them with my best friend. read more

I've been taking my fuzzy ferrets here for years, and only deal with Dr. Donato. I'm not sure about the negative reviews, I've had a positive experience overall, and frequently board my ailing, elderly ferret in the hospital. Dr. Donato is highly knowledgeable about exotic animals, and has given my little guy nothing but positive attention and care. Like any doctor's office I've ever been to, yes they will order surgeries and expensive tests, but my feeling is that they genuinely want to help ailing animals, and I don't feel pressured to consent to care that I feel is unfounded. If there was an emergency or life-threatening surgical matter, I would still go to Penn- but for regular visits, medication, and someone to kiss my ferret on the head, I go to Radnor Vet. read more

I felt compelled to write this review after reading some of the negative press concerning Radnor Veterinary Hospital. We have been using them for years and have been very happy. They have been professional and compassionate. I have become friendly with Dr. Donato and feel that he is a very concerned for the well being our dogs and is a competent vet. As far as finances, the charges seem fair. They have a business to run along with overhead. I have never felt that money came before the best interests of my dogs. I hope this review helps to balance out some of the less than flattering comments on yelp. read more

Please know by this post that this references only Dr. Donato as I do not any other vet in this practice. I paid Dr. Donato a minimum of $200.00 per week for approx. one year or more. She performed acupuncture on our best friend. With that being said I am taking & posting the following from a letter I recently wrote to her in an effort to help people to know her better. "Needless to say Shep was unable to walk any longer and we were forced to put our beloved pet to sleep. However in the immortal words of an "acupuncturist," that I had the distinct displeasure of talking to recently "He is only a Dog anyway" (by the way that is exactly what you said). I don't know if I need to remind you of our phone conversation (which followed the attached request for your help). In that conversation, you insinuated that we did not explore every option to help Shep. Assumedly in a meager attempt on your part to lay some blame for Shep's condition at our feet, and thereby making you feel better about your denial to write a letter to help us. It is a monumental understatement to say that nothing could be further than the truth. We most certainly did every single possible thing to help Shep live a fairly normal and decent life. I will not go into the things my wife and myself did for Shep prior to his passing, as this letter would grow voluminous. Let it suffice to say that we left no stone unturned in his care, nor did we ever leave him for a moment. However I am getting sidetracked and would like to get back to your phone advise, you continued our conversation by advising me that aside from other remedies you had suggested, you recommended that we should have attempted acupuncture on Shep. I have attempted to make sense out of that comment however that task is an impossibility for as you know you treated Shep through acupuncture for approximately a year. Perhaps in the heat of that conversation you inadvertently had a lapse of memory and forgot that you treated with him acupuncture in excess of a year. Or perhaps you were too busy trying to explain what our civic duty to this Great Country is / was as it pertained to Jury Duty. It is noteworthy at this juncture of our letter to insert a learned Vets opinion regarding the caring for a dog with Peripheral Neuropathies and I quote that Vet as follows: "Prognosis and treatment of inflammatory neuropathies (particularly the cases not associated with raccoon bites) also present problems for which there are no simple solutions. As in humans, the leading cause of death in patients with these diseases is pneumonia secondary to respiratory insufficiency. The debilitation produced by the disease can be long lasting as well as profound, and the level of support and nursing care required to maintain such animals may be Herculean." I highly doubt that you paid any attention to the care we gave to Shep or even gave minimal thought to what we went through. Diane nor I (with the exception of a baby / dog sitter) never ever left Shep alone. We cared for him 24 / 7. This letter goes on from there but some of it was personal as we recently had a family tragedy that was aside from losing our friend. Therefore I am ending it here. I would like the reader of this to make their own choice about whether they should use Dr. Donato. read more

We have been using Radnor Vet for the last 10 years and are pleased with the services they provided. We had one cat that they cared for very well until she passed away in 2009. They were very understanding, accommodating and held our hands throughout the whole process. Their fees are also reasonable, I don't think they over charge us in any way. We now have two cats (brothers) and we are receiving very good care from them and again, I think they provide professional services and are also very friendly. I would highly recommend them. I really don't know why they have so many negative reviews. I think they are great. read more

We have been coming to see Dr Donato since 2002 when we brought out lizards in for a checkup. Since then we have brought our dogs as well. Len is very careful with all of the animals we brought to him, even our 4oz lizards. We have since moved further away, but still bring our dogs here when we need a second opinion and have the utmost confidence that our dogs will be treated properly and carefully. There is no vet we trust more than this one. read more

The attitude of the personnel on Radnor Vet is terrible, humiliating, and unprofessional; the first time I went there I tried to be understanding because that place is so tiny that people literally breath on top of one another, but after a second experience with them, I can't longer justify their rudeness. Dr. Donato is very rude and unprofessional; God knows how they treat your pet when you're not around. My advice to any pet owner is: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE IF YOU INDEED CARE FOR HIM/HER. read more

I wanted to weigh in, because we have had several pets cared for by Radnor Vet over the years, and I felt that, in sum, the reviews on Yelp! were one-sided. Len Donato, who bought the practice several years ago from Jeff Szanto, is a bit of a work in progress. He's very capable and intelligent, but he made youthful mistakes in his earlier years, including being occasionally haughty and profit-centered. He ran through staff quickly. But he has grown up a lot, and his current associates are quite good. Jeff Szanto is still there, one day a week, and Drs. Bowers and McKee are effective and pleasant. Moreover, the office staff is currently long-term and impressive to deal with. Patty, who runs the boarding operation, is terrific. So I urge you to consider this practice and to remember that, while I in no way doubt the experiences of the other reviewers, the Internet is skewed towards highly-motivated, i.e. angry, participants. read more

You pay $29 for a "full day" but your dog plays for 4 1/2 hours at most!! A half day is 3 hours. Then they sit in a cage or run. Only 2 staff members seem to care. No management and the one who claims management is rude, curses excessively, and I've seen her yell at the other employees. The managers will never get back to you when you try contacting them. And honestly, the dog club office wreaks of cigarettes. read more

This was a good, personable practice in the 1990s. In the last five or six years, though, they've gone WAY downhill. There's no communication between the front and the back. For the last few years, every single visit to them has involved some sort of screwup -- medications not filled, nails not trimmed, animal boarded but given the wrong amount of medication despite a carefully filled-out information sheet, long waits for scheduled appointments, requests for samples already submitted. Every single time. It's like they're suddenly trying to be McDonalds. The business part of it is a nightmare. As far as the veterinary care goes, Dr. Meghan McGrath is outstanding and compassionate. The other two vets I've seen over the years had no bedside manner to speak of. They were cold and treated the animals (dogs) like pieces of furniture. I'm sure they're great with a computer or a textbook. The whole practice now seems to be focused on revenue, with supplement sales and doggy villages. It's a shame. They used to be a great, family-type practice. Now, I'm done with them. My next animals will go somewhere else. Anywhere else, in fact. Unless I want lousy service (and occasional rudeness out front) and a McVet. read more

I found this animal hospital through www.ferrettclub.org which recommended this hospital for treating ferrets. My 6 year old ferret was losing hair on his back end which is a indicator of Adrenal Gland disease. I first took my ferret to another animal hospital for his first examanation. The doctor I spoke with told me the surgery for removing the adrenal glands was extremely risky and it could not be performed. I found Radnor Animal hospital on the website I mentioned previously and took Tweak in for his appointment with Dr. Donato. Dr. Donato confirmed Tweak had adrenal gland disease and we scheduled his surgery for the following week. Dr. Donato successfully removed the malignant adrenal glands from Tweak. This surgery was performed several month ago and thanks to Dr. Donato my ferret has made a successful recovery. His fur has grown back, he has put on some extra weight and he is as active as the day I adopted him 4 years ago. I have had a great experience with this animal hospital and would recommend them to anyone. read more
