My wife and I love Rahr & Sons. Its a great place to relax and enjoy some excellent beer. I can't get enough of the Paleta de Mango! They generally have the doors open and it's Texas so it gets very hot in there -but hey - you've got all the beer you can drink to cool you down. Skippable! Here are the reasons: 1. Why have people manning the bar and serving beer if they have no idea what the product is, what styles they have and if all the beers are their own. 2. Making me purchase a wrist band for $20 on a Wednesday to sample the beers is questionable. Granted you get 3 beers and a pint glass but I don't know if I want to drink 3 beers here (and I didn't, I only had 2) 3. Rahr has always been one of my favorite breweries to visit. Maybe it's because it was the first one I ever visited so I feel a sense of loyalty, who knows! I've only been on Saturdays for the tour/tasting, so I can't say anything about any other days they are open. They have doubled their price since I started going. Entry for $10 use to get you 3 beers and a souvenir glass. I can't tell you how many of their glasses we have. Basically all of our glassware is from Rahr LOL...Well, they increased the price to $15 in 2019 and now it's $20. Of course, everything these days is much more expensive, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. They do have food trucks and usually a live band playing. Very fun place to visit. Parking is terrible but that's Fort Worth not Rahr's issue. However.....I got there 30 mins after they opened on a Saturday and parked right in the lot. They were doing the tasting event and it's like $20 and you get three beers and a glass to take him. Pretty reasonable. It's in a warehouse type setting. Lots of tables to sit at but my only complaint is it was so hot. They do have massive fans going but it was just so hot I couldn't enjoy it to the extent I would have had it been fall or winter. So next time I will go when it's cooler. But .......the winter beers were half off. That's awesome they do that because I like the winter beers more. My favorite it the Angry Santa. AMAZING beer. I bought several to take home to enjoy for this winter. I will definitely go back but when it's cooler. Also the staff is super friendly. They get five stars just for how nice they are. Even though I don't consume alcohol, I had a great time at the facility. This place was so family-friendly with fun, food, games, music, and picnic tables. Talk about packed! A bunch of people showed up for the festivities. The free pint glass was well-worth the price of admission. I also couldn't pass up a chopped-beef sandwich with all the sides I could ever hope for. After listening to some good music out back, it was finally time for the tour. Never knew how much science and craftsmanship went into brewing beer. Wow! I'm a big fan of red & amber ales and Texas Red is one of the best I've had. Only negative was the bartender. He took forever to get orders out and purposely short-poured every pint. I love this place! This is the best place to hangout on a Saturday. From 1-3pm, you can get 3 pints of beer for just $15 and you get to keep the souvenir glass. Plus you get a tour of the brewery. They always have a live band performing and a food truck if you start to get hungry. They have a large selection of beer for everyone and their seasonal beers are always the best. They have indoor facility to hangout at or you can go outside where there's plenty of room. Tip: the bathroom inside can get really busy and if you don't have time to wait they have port a potties outside on the side of the building. read more

My experience here will be different from others... I visited Rahr & Sons Brewery for a wedding reception What an amazing experience!!! We were given a pint glass when we arrived and were able to taste all the beers... I actually liked every beer that I sampled!!! (and yes, I took small samples because there were so many choices). It's now $15 for 3 pours. They are only open Wednesday and Saturday for a few hours. It seemed like you could only buy the $15 entry package but I'm not entirely sure. There was a live band and corn hole available to play. Not many other activities, but lots of standing room if you don't get a seat at the tables. Sweet spot if it's nice enough to sit outside. They also have a small pour station outside. Which doesn't have all the pours but it's convenient if you like the beers that are there. It's nearby locust cider too if you're trying to hit up multiple spots. read more

I came here yesterday for their 2nd Annual Mudbugs and Music festival and it was a blast! The weather was great, we got there right for opening at 1pm and managed to avoid the crazy lines for the crawfish -- it was all you can eat! The crawfish was great, the music was great, I'm usually not that keen on Rahr beer, but their Summer Hefe, I was really feeling - when I next hit Total Wine I'm gonna see if I can grab a 6-pack. I've been a handful of times for their open houses on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Saturdays are always more crowded but have a better atmosphere. As of 2019 they increased the price to $15 for I believe it's 4 beers and a free glass, previously it was a steal at $10. They are always changing their glass designs up to which is great but my cupboards are overflowing with beer glasses!! read more

On a rare Saturday off, I looked for something different to do. Then, I remembered Rahr. Short & sweet, they had a band outdoor on the little loading dock. Nice touch. $10 gets you three beers of your choice & a pint glass. It's a nice collectible. I wish they were open on days other than Saturday. I know there is an evening thing during the week, but it doesn't mesh with my schedule. It's nice to be able to try different brews & walk around. There were food trucks outside for those wanted a bite to eat & a dude selling hand rolled cigars. Smoking of the stogies is allowed, however, bring a chair and shade if you plan to sit outside. I have to say that though the crowd was quite large, this place is a very bare-bones experience. "Tour" may be a misleading term for what goes on here. Final thoughts - parking and streets in the area are a friggin nightmare! Still, go ahead & give it a flyer. I think this place would be more fun with a large group of friends. read more

I saw a friend review Rahr recently and it reminded me that I need to chime in too. I've been here several times, as far back as the "free days" when your beer was acquired with a poker chip, to the more recent times when it will now set you back $7, but includes a Rahr & Sons pint glass. At first I was kinda shocked at the price increase, but then I thought about it. In the free days, a poker chip got you an 8oz glass a beer. If you were clever enough you went to the gift shop and bought a pint glass for $5. Now your poker chip got you 16oz of beer, and you could bring that glass back week after week. So now, if you take the $5 from the $7 it's only "costing" you $2 to get in an you are building up a cool pint glass collection for home. Another benefit of charging to get in is that it does keep the riff raff out... Not that there was that much, but when you are giving away free beer on the south side of Fort Worth, well you can imagine who shows up. Not that it was ever a problem, and was actually kinda cool, as the crowd was very diverse. Now the crowd is slightly less diverse, but it's still a crowd. For the number of people that show up you'd think the beer was still free, and maybe it is. I was about to say $2 of every $7 goes to a "selected charity of the week", but after looking at the Rahr website more closely (http://rahrbrewing.com/our-brewery/tour-tasting.html) in reality it's "to a selected charity of the week for each glass that is reused." So that messes up my numbers a bit, but not my appreciation for Rahr. Also at each Saturday brewery tour is going to be music and a vendor selling food. In the past I've even seen people show up with pizzas. If you like beer, it's a definite must and I keep it on my list of things to do when people visit from out town (combined with a trip to the Fort Worth Water Gardens or one of Fort Worth's museums). Bottom line: I like the beer and I buy it whenever I can. I also like that it's local. I think the fact that Rahr has developed a community presence is pretty cool. Oh, and if you really like the place, the brewery can be rented out for parties. I'm not sure of the cost, but I do recall that it includes the beer in the rental price. Can't beat that. read more

My Girlfriend and I were in Ft Wort visiting my sister and her husband, along with my brother and his Girlfriend. This brewery was outstanding. It is large inside with more than one bar. The event we attended was $10 which provided a pint glass to keep and three full pints of your choosing. It is my understanding this is available all the time. It is certainly worth checking out this brewery. If you're going to spend some time here, I recommend taking Lyft or uber as we did. You'll thank your self later. read more

A friend told me they were doing curbside pickup so we went by to check it out and they had some awesome deals! They had a six pack for $5 or 4 for $20 which is a great deal, way cheaper than what you'd spend at a bar and they also sell it cheaper than they do in the stores! They take credit cards and even load up the beer for you. I know everyone is going a little stir crazy from sitting at home but it's a lot easier to do with a beer in hand. Thanks! read more

Oh Rahr, the happiness you provide...where to begin!? Line up early to get into the brewery so you can get your first pour with minimal wait time (also there are taps on the back porch/loading dock). As you've read already: $10 gets you your pint glass (and sometimes they have amazing special glasses to commemorate events/holidays) and a wrist band with your three drink tickets. Make sure NOT to take these off until you're getting your pour. Don't be scared to try some beer blends. My fav is called the Strawberry Blond, which is the Rahr Blond mixed with the Texas Red (my bud prefers it mixed with the buffalo butt). The Dirty Blond is legit as well, mixing their Blond with Ugly Pug. The closer to 3pm you arrive, the fewer drink tickets you get. Again, get there early! Now I personally have never eaten while at the brewery tour but from reading other user reviews it sure makes me wanna next time! The restroom situation can be a bit tricky as there are only one set of indoor restrooms and a set of portopotty's out back. During the summer, hold your breath. Speaking of summer, remember: it is a WAREHOUSE! Dress accordingly. Don't complain if you wear long sleeves and all black during the summer or if you're in shorts/a tank top during winter. As previously stated: parking isn't super easy, but get there EARLY and you'll have less to worry about. Sadly, I discovered Rahr & Son's after moving away from the DFW Metroplex but it it is a must-do on our list every time we go back home to visit the folks. read more

I've heard a lot of good things about Rahr & Sons, so I decided to make a trip. I visited tonight for the Back the Blue event. I scoped it out on Facebook first to see if I liked the food trucks, glass, band, etc that would be there. This place was packed beyond belief. Parking was extremely dysregulating and I was close to turning around. I was able to find a spot and head over. We were greeted by a line for ID checks and payment. It went quickly but not quick enough to avoid the stench nearby. I'm truly surprised others have not mentioned how this place smells. It smells like a barn by the entry and by the indoor bathrooms in front. There were a ton of flies in the giant buckets as well. I don't know why it smelled so bad, but it didn't make me very confident in their cleaning skills. In addition to the smell, there were cob webs in the bathroom. Rahr & Sons needs some deep cleaning. As for the beer, I can only speak for the Ugly Pig. It's the only beer I'll drink from them. They say it's a beer for those that think they don't like dark beers, but people who like dark beers will like it too! The lines for the beer were way too long. I drink my beer slowly and I would finish it before I got to the front of the line. They had a brat food truck tonight and it was so-so. I reviewed it seperately. It was called KB's brats. Overall, Rahr & Sons has some better beers than a nearby brewery, Martin House, and more laid back attitude. By that I mean, they won't kick you out once the clock hits. Their servers are also very friendly. Even so, Rahr & Sons is lacking in cleanliness and ambience/activities. read more
