We had an overall good service experience. You could tell they know their regulars and can hold a great conversation with them which was good to see. The ambiance is as you would expect very much a local spot! For food we ordered the following: Breakfast Lover's* Three eggs, 1/2 order of ham, 2 sausage links, 2 slices of bacon, American fries or hash browns, and either toast or two silver dollar pancakes 12.29 Breakfast Skillet* Bacon, sausage, red and green peppers, red onions, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, Cheddar Monterey Jack cheese, and two eggs scrambled 11.99 If you want toast that is extra charge. I used to go here frequently when it was owned by Doug. The universe had me in the neighborhood at lunch time I was excited to have the Bbq ranch wrap I have always loved. It was dead so I sat in the tables by the front windows by the bar, the server wasn't very engaging. I sat for a while before she came to me, ordered...I was excited to have the wrap. This is one of my comfort meals, guys. I LOVED this wrap. They used to make fresh chicken strips, they used to take this wrap that had herbs in it, they would warm the wrap on the grill, take the warmed wrap and put in on the prep table; they would put salad, fresh strips, drizzle the ranch and bbq sauce and wrap this like a giant burrito, slice it in half - man! It was a refreshing wrap. I'd opt out of the tomatoes, but sooo good. They served me a grilled burrito. Literal. Like Taco Bell. They had all the good stuff supposed to be, but they burned the "wrap" with the lettuce inside...it was DISGUSTING. Hot lettuce? Who on this earth is looking for hot lettuce? A wrap is meant to be a frigging salad wrapped in a wrap. It isn't supposed to be hot. Hot slimy lettuce. Made me almost cry. Gross. Anyone in management taste this abomination? I know you got the whole menu recipes when you bought the name. Maybe should've asked the kitchen staff who knows they made stuff before you fired the well-paid cooks. read more

Food: ordered take out. We ordered two vegetable beef soups and a bran muffin. We both did not like the soup or muffin. It was nothing like the original rainbow grill vegetable beef soup ( spicy and dark colored). The brand muffin was nothing like the original rainbow grill. It was not tasty. I enjoy going to rainbow Grill a few times a year but now I find myself going every weekend as Leah Burley. Has made my experience so much more than just a breakfast. She gets right out to us checks on us all the time to make sure that we have everything we need. Her personality is so bright and happy. She really makes you feel like your family. I have not been to the Rainbow Gill in many years. I'm wondering why I stayed away so long. They have delicious food with very generous portions and for a reasonable price. We had great service. The restaurant was very clean and not too loud. They don't serve alcohol, but if you're looking for good comfort food I suggest stopping by. read more

I don't think I've been here in 10 years. In many ways they are like Russ's, catered more towards the elder crowd. However they have larger portions than Russ's. I ordered the NY Strip Steak with mashed potatoes and a tossed salad. Everything was very good. The meat was a good cut of meat. The potatoes tasted real and salad was very fresh. The service was super friendly and efficient. Overall a 4 star review in and apples to apples Comparison. Next to a steakhouse a 3. Next to The Chop house a 2ish. Next to Russ's a 4 1/2. We walked in and sat down, we sat for 5 minutes without acknowledgment while a server stood at the register. Yes she was putting in an order but you can at least say Hey I'll be with you in a minute" no she waited till my husband said let's go somewhere else as we're picking up our kids. Three to four others servers made eye cont with us too and said nothing. If your going to have a seat yourself establishment you need servers to acknowledge your there. My wife and I went to the Rainbow Grill in Grandville around 11:00 AM after voting on November 6th. We have enjoyed the Rainbow Grill many times since moving to Michigan a couple of years ago, but we have never taken the time to write a review for this impressively consistent and well-managed restaurant. My wife ordered the "Vegetable Skillet". I myself have enjoyed this dish in the past and have always found it delicious and full of fresh vegetables, potatoes, and perfectly cooked eggs. This time was no exception; in fact, the skillet was customized at her request to resemble a vegetable scramble. I didn't have quite the appetite as usual, so I ordered the 1/2 waffle combo with eggs and bacon. The bacon at the Rainbow Grill is always exceptional, the waffle was crispy, and the eggs were perfect. Both dishes are under $10 each, making them a great value. Even better, while the food is certainly good and reasonably priced, I should note that the service has always been fast, pleasant, and professional as well. I encourage everyone to visit this well-run local establishment. You won't be disappointed. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars: They aren't open on Sunday. My wife and I just had the blandest breakfast ever. How can French toast have no flavor? How can hash browns with peppers, cheese, onion and bacon have no flavor. I had to add salt to it, which I rarely if ever add salt, and it didn't improve. Once I added Frank's it at least tasted like Frank's. My stomach knew I ate but my mouth was not convinced. I would rate this as 1.5 stars if I could. It is somewhat cool to "call in" your order over a phone, but only for the first time really. My mom and my grandma love this place. I've never tasted anything good there, even their shakes weren't that good, and I used to eat at a retirement home once daily, so it's not like I haven't had bland, plain food before. I give Rainbow a solid 4 and not just because I have been coming here since I was a little kid. First of all the prices here compared to what I pay in Columbus age pretty amazing. The portion size for what you pay is great. Also the food is pretty darn good too. Is it all home made? No probably not but its good. You just need to know what to get. I always go for breakfast now since I only go when I'm visiting family, but lunch is probably my favorite. The burger and sandwich selection is really good. The service has always been nice too. The management hasn't changed much and I like that. I don't care what others may say, Rainbow is great! read more

Gotta love a place where you can place your order from a phone at your booth! This is my kids' favorite place to eat--they love the broccoli cheese soup. I would say the Rainbow Grill is similar to a Russ' or Big Boy. The food is nothing fancy but it's tasty and always comes quickly. The prices are also affordable and their desserts are good--especially the cream puffs. If you sit in the back half of the restaurant (separate entrance) you order your food by using the phone at your booth and the waitress just delivers it--so tipping is optional. You will find a lot of families and senior citizens eating here. :) read more

Very good small town diner feel. I really really love thier crispy chicken ranch wrap. I've been many times for lunch and dinner and have not been disappointed. I have gone for breakfast once so far and my eggs were very overcooked. Didn't end up eating them but I will try it again and see if they are any different. read more

The good & friendly service raised the score a bit. I would give it a 3.5 if possible. The prices seem real reasonable for what you get. I tired the Frisco burger. It was alright with a generous portion including the fries. My friend loved her chicken strip meal that came with 4 good sized pieces. We also had the lemon meringue pie. It tasted nearly as good as it looks which is awesome. The atmosphere is basic hometown food joint with many regulars. This place has a loyal local following. read more

You know that sort of diner/ sort of family restaurant in your neighborhood that used to be a Ram's Horn but has really good, home cooked, comfort food? That's this place. Real mashed potatoes, good burgers (esp the breakfast burger), homemade soups, warm muffins and a warm cookie sundae as big as your head. How about this: the coleslaw was homemade and really good. I haven't experienced poor service like this in a long time. We went there on a quiet Monday night, looking forward to trying a restaurant we've never been to before. The staff wanted nothing to do with us, though. The waitress (Reagan) literally threw the menus on the table without a word and walked away. She didn't smile at us once the whole time we were there and she didn't come to check on us; we had to go up to counter to ask for drink refills. We hoped the food would save the experience, but sadly it did not. The salad was frozen; the tomato had literal ice on it that clinked when my fork tapped it and the lettuce was just as bad. Then, we ordered the Smokehouse burger because grilled onions and mushrooms are a favorite in my family! I don't know if they were out or just forgot, but there were NO mushrooms on the burger. If they were out of mushrooms, I wish they would've told us. It was definitely not an enjoyable meal in any way. read more

I beg to disagree with Becky in that I do not believe tipping is optional here. The waitress brings your food, makes sure your order is right, gets your drinks... everything a waitress would do at Russ's, Denny's or Big Boy except writing your order down and turning it in to the kitchen. Don't fall into the typical West-Michigan-Cheapo mentality. Wait staff in any restaurant do not even make minimum wage. Not tipping them is not only poor etiquette, but you're hurting their livelihood in the process. read more
