I'm sure it's hard being a nail tech, they can seem standoffish and rude at times, but I like the workers here because they don't small talk me or try to sell me upgrades. It may have been because I went in with a regular, but I was happy that I got to play tsumtsum on my phone in peace while the lady did my pedi. She was fast and efficient, which is nice because the parking around here is all paid parking. They offer opi, China glaze and Essie polishes, but they don't have a wide selection--I was looking for a cream-sickle color, but settled for a darker orange. The chairs are kinda old. The massage feature didn't work in my chair, but it's ok because I don't like those chair massagers anyways. The prices are comparable to other Vietnamese nail places in the area, and there seem to be a bunch of regulars. Four people came in while I was getting my nails done and they all were greeted very pleasantly. This is definitely an option if you want fast and inexpensive service and don't mind the older chairs and limited color selection. read more

Let me just say, first and foremost, the reason this isn't getting one star is because the customer service is really good. The workers are all so nice... but honey, no. That's not enough to make up for their lackluster acrylic work. I really think this place is a hit or miss, because a lot of the reviews are extremely divisive. But my day was a miss apparently. I'd say go at your own risk read more

Tiffany and her manicurists are outstanding. I like the fact that they speak English and are unafraid to converse with customers. Her salon is well designed which makes the surroundings very comfortable. Her rates are fair and she provides receipts on the work done. This is the third nail salon I tried and I'm very pleased with the manicure they do! Highly recommend Rainbow Nails!! read more

Decided that I desperately needed a pedicure and today was the day to do it! Paid the meter guesstimating about 1 hour, put in for 1-1/2 just in case.. Walked in and there was only one lady getting a manicure. It was quiet, and pretty empty. I havent been here for well over a year. The "feel" was different. I remember it bustling with lots of ladies getting pedicures and manicures with a lot of workers. It seemed like it changed ownership as I didnt recognized anyone that used to work there. Maybe it was the time I arrived, 2:30. I picked my color and was guided to a chair. The water took awhile to get warm and it didnt have that whirlpool I usually experience. I had a very nice person Vee. She was attentive and was very good. She asked if I wanted the deluxe, comes with callus removal, massage, the works lol. Yes please. I also asked if she can add a flower design. So I thoroughly enjoyed having my feet pampered today. Deluxe pedicure $38 Flower $8 $8 for the design, but I surely am not the professional. I'd come back again, in maybe a month, just to get pampered. Took about an hour. read more

Beware this place is all about the numbers as in taking in as many as possible skipping on the customer satisfaction!!! We called last minute to see if they could do 2 pedicures one being with artificial nails they said yes and quoted a price. From the start Everything is very rush rush in this place! Midway thru it was obvious the lady was not attempting any nail layovers...and when I asked about it she seemed annoyed and then called over to another lady and then proceeded to tell me 'No can! No more time!" You gotta call make appointment , I was like I did and you quoted me which is why I came here in the first place. Needless to say we were very unhappy with the rush job done as that is not what we intended to get and now will need to pay another salon to do the correct service!! I would skip this place if your are looking to get what u pay for!! read more

Since nail salons are open again, I wanted to give myself a spa day on my day off. Was in the Waialae area and tried 2 different salons (but they were busy) and we came across rainbow nails because they had openings for walk ins. Got the deluxe pedicure and gel manicure. Manicure turned out great . But when I got home my toes were already chipped . Spent $40 on the pedicure to have it be chipped an hour after I get home. Not sure if I'll be returning to this salon..... maybe that's why it wasn't busy when we walked in ? ‍ read more

Was here probably a year ago. Didn't leave a good review then and won't be now. I usually go to Head to Toes and I LOVE them. Go there! Today tho there was confusion about me and my friend at the same time, so we decided to try rainbow nails again. Oops! My nails came out GREAT. An hour and a half I have EXACTLY what I want, mani and pedi. But in that time my friend who wanted the Mani and pedi too only got a pedi. And it wasn't even what she wanted. She asked for a regular red gel and the lady messed up about 7 times. No joke. She asked for rhinestones and didn't even get them because there was no more time. So my advice is skip this place unless you are gonna get Tiffany the owner she is the BEST! read more

Had to refill my gel manicure while on vacation and my sister recommended this place that she's gone to for 30 years? Is that even possible? But I'm so glad I went because my gel manicure/pedicure are perfect ( I had to match my gel color I got in LA, even!) and I got like 20 minutes extra massage. Ahhh read more

I have been coming to Rainbow Nails for years. Sara is my favorite pedicurist. She's gentle with my cuticles where others have actually made me bleed. Sometimes I'm too lazy to pick a color and she will select for me because she knows the latest trends and colors. She also painstakingly draws little flowers or holiday decorations on my toenails. They now have a new tracking system that texts me to come in to refresh my pedi. For a busy working gal like me, I'm always on the go and appreciate the reminder. read more

I was a little hesitant to take my daughter to get her pedi here, but she remembered the cute panda child size pedi chairs. Unfortunately they don't have them anymore, but my daughter really wanted to get her nails painted. Our nail tech Tiffany was awesome. She too has a 7 year old and had so much patience with my daughter. My daughter's one request was to have hello kitty painted on her big toe, and Tiffany made that happen! I was impressed with her creativity and talent. Their prices were pretty reasonable for a mani/pedi combo plus a design. Overall our experience was great and would do a repeat visit requesting for Tiffany. Lots of parking on street and in lot. Metered parking be sure to have change. Location great too! My chrome gel nails started peeling back after 48 hours, and realized she completely missed the sides of my nails with the chrome so it looked like two different shades on each hand. Super unfortunate because they were a super cute pink. my friend who got extensions with gel, hers stayed on great. read more

I wandered in to Rainbow nails with my daughter and sister-in-law while waiting for a table at Koko Head. I had the absolute best mani- pedi that I've ever had! I live in OC, CA and travel often so I've been to many salons and like I said BEST mani- pedi ever. My daughter had her eyebrows waxed and sister in law had a French manicure. I was a little worried based on the reviews. However I went in when it wasn't busy so I was able to get two techs for a Gel mani/Spa pedi. The massage was nice and long and thorough. Good quality. I even had a nail that was ripping and she fixed it with no extra charge. Try them! read more

They do full set acrylic and had openings for walk ins. The tech did it in one hour. But it was vary flat with no apex so it looked a little off. She cut my skin while filing it with the emery board which kind of hurt a bit and started bleeding a little. But it still looked better than if I had done it myself. read more

I've been going to Rainbow Nails since 2013, Usually I get Lisa or Paula and they're great, but I've noticed every time I go they charge me different and I always get the same thing. I've even questioned it before and they give me a bogus answer like 'different scrub' but I literally always get the same service! Yesterday I got a Gel Pedi and I was charged $60. I just looked at their menu on services in the photo section here and it says Gel Pedi is $40. I didn't get anything extra, just a regular Gel Pedi. I'll be looking for a new place now since their prices are never consistent, especially for a customer who's been supporting them for about 5 1/2 years. BYE Rainbow Nails. read more

I wanted to go somewhere to get my nails done that didn't make me feel rushed because it's so busy. So I avoided Smiley Nails. There's a bunch of nail places in Kaimuki and my coworker mentioned Rainbow Nails. Ok, let's try Rainbow Nails. I was pleasantly surprised and now come here. There are ample chairs in this place, even kiddy pedicure chairs! I only remembering once having to wait to get my nails done, but there's a tv and free wifi to keep you occupied. There's also coffee, but I'm not so much a coffee person. So I haven't tried it. It's nice that the ladies here wear name tags. I can't speak Vietnamese, so I can't pronounce their names, but at least I can remember how their name is spelled so I can spell so and so did my nails, tip her. I do like that my pedicures last a while from here. I've been to some places where their pedicures only last about a week. I can say in true cheap fashion that my pedicures from here last 6 weeks. And that's good that it lasts that long, because that's when my toe nails have to be cut again. So it makes getting my toes done a good value! read more

My dad was getting a pedicure here today and despite bad experiences I've had here before, his offer for a free pedicure was too good to pass up. I now realize how people can have very bad experiences here and at the same time also have very good. It all depends who is working. Tiffany the manager was working today and it was a very different t experience. She was working on my dads feet and all the technicians working were doing everything by the book. The tools were clean, I watched them clean the basins etc. I think when it's her day off is when the workers get really lazy and lax, and often rude. But today the service was on point. read more

For eyebrow waxing, this place is affordable and good. They are quick yet efficient and friendly. (Just like this review.) You can't beat $12 for a great eyebrow wax! (They accept cards but prefer you to tip in cash.) Parking in the lot behind the building is probably best. Always pay the meter- I would recommend 20-30 minutes to be safe if you are getting your eyebrows done. Their eyebrow tech is not in on Mondays. read more

Went in with a friend yesterday and we were told to sit -- they did not mention that there was a 40-minute wait. My friend's nails came out alright, but mine were AWFUL. I got a French manicure and the lines were a mess. I left with nail polish on the palm on my hand, and a huge glob under one of my nails that bonded it to the skin. The sides of several of my nails were unpainted, which caused the whole thing to peel off within two hours (see photo). Also, the place is unclean. The footbaths do not drain completely and not everything is sterilized. I think one of my cuticles got infected. read more

I like Rainbow Nails because they are pretty affordable and do a good job. My favorites are Lisa and Kelly. The other technicians do a good job, but Kelly and Lisa are polite and friendly. Kelly is always great with my mom, and Lisa goes the extra mile on my weird toes. My nails grow weird and kinda hurt my toes, but Lisa cuts them so they grow more comfortably and cleans out the gunk from underneath and the sides. I do recommend this place especially Kelly and Lisa if you can reserve them. read more

Nope. Im not a picky person and I rarely complain. I wasn't thrilled with my services here. The first time I went was pretty unremarkable. Slightly overpriced, but not much and my nails were okay. I returned recently for an acrylic full set and pedicure. Ehhhhh. I asked for long pointy nails..... my right hand is pretty long. Left hand medium at best. They don't match AT ALL. One lady did my hands, while I was in the pedicure chair. As a result, several of my nails are crooked. Service seemed rushed and it seems like they close early sometimes. Im not sure. read more

I've been getting gel manicures from Emily that are honestly the best I've had! The salon takes every measure to be COVID safe, including temp checks at the door, hand sanitizer, barriers for manis and keeping doors open. I've tried a lot of salons in town and Emily is simply the best! She is very attentive, takes her time making my nails look perfect and gives an awesome neck and shoulder massage. I stopped getting my nails done regularly a few years back after leaving salons frustrated with the experience-- I'm so glad I've found Emily and Rainbow Nails. Unlike other salons, she goes out of her way to make sure I'm happy and my nails look just as I asked. We always schedule our girls day pedicure at Rainbow Nails. They always welcome us with smiles and hellos. All the ladies are good but we always request our favorites, Sara, Tiffany and Paula. They just upgraded with new massage chairs which makes the experience even better. I had the best foot massage today from Paula. I also like the added touch of a design on our big toes. Rainbow Nails, Smiley Nails, Diamond Nail, Happy Nail, Beautiful Nail, Hook Nail, Hang Nail, Toe jam Nail, all the same. Cheap, decent, quick, and always trying to add on more services. I'll go straight to the point. This place does not sanitize their nail-cutting tools. After the girl cut my cuticles, she put the nail scissors right back into the container where she got it from. She didn't put it in the sanitizing machine or somewhere else to be washed or rinsed later like most places do. I saw it myself with my own 2 eyes. That's the reason why 1 of my fingers were infected a few days later. Save your money & more importantly, your nails & go somewhere else. read more

If I could, I would leave 0 stars! "Tina" was very rude, rough, and in a rush to move on to the next person. This guy had started 5-10 minutes before I did. I was finished 10-15 min before him. How is that possible if I got the same deluxe pedi as him but I got a French tip?!?! Oh it's cause Tina didn't care and wanted to move on to the next person. It is also very obvious I have bruises on my knees but she felt the need to push on my bruise instead of any where else!!! The lady who did my nails was always looking at everyone walking in. She knew I was not happy about something and was staring at me Trying to mouth to my friend instead of focusing on my nails. I noticed this white mark and I asked her what it was and she told me,oh your nail broke" I was like my nail broke?!?! How does that happen??? I walked in with perfectly healthy nails!! The nail techs always tell me that I have such beautiful nails and not one of them has ever broken it before. Since I was rushed I was done before my friend and Tina made me stand up and move even though there were five empty chairs in the store and just one person waiting. How rude!!!!!! Also I love to get designs, was hoping for hearts cause Valentine's Day is right around the corner but no offer was made when it was time and it all happened so quick I had no clue she was done. One star ONLY so I could Comment! UGH Well I used to like this place! But today I was OVER IT! I asked for a mani pedi "pick your color!" Got it sat down put on my headphones 2 people come to Help me Tina did my Mani and I think Tiffany dos my pedi. Mani looks like crap color is very light and missing and nicked all over the place! Pedi was decent but the punch of my calves was a bit much! I paid with a cc and the Tina lady is telling me "tip in cash" I gave her $4 she said "is that for both!?" I said YUP!!! they start talking in Vietnamese and looking at me I should've tipped them NOTHING damnit! Need to find a better place any suggestions? read more

I like it quick and easy (that's what she said) So, I came here knowing that I had a set amount of time as I was on my lunch break. I let them know about my time crunch and Paula said she could finish. I swear, I've never seen someone move so fast in my entire pedicure-life. She upsold me on some additional mask treatment or something that takes 10 minutes so during those 10 minutes she upsold me a nail trim and polish for $5. I'm here anyways, and we have 10 minutes to spare. She upsold me on the gradiant design for my fingers and toes. Sure...how much extra will that cost? I made sure to ask the total I would be charged beforehand, because I've had some surprises at the cash register at other places. She stuck true to her word as far as pricing goes. That meant a lot. She went over the time I allotted her but she worked so hard and so fast that I couldn't even be mad. TIP: They prefer cash tips...don't we all. read more
