Rainbow Restaurant has been around for decades, outlasting many other competitors because the know how to do it right. Not only is it in a wonderful converted old style home with warm colors for each open room/area and a lovely outside shaded courtyard, they serve excellent presented, scrumptious food! In fact, my wife and I have decided that their spinach omelet is the BEST entree of any restaurant for any breakfast or lunch anywhere here. It is that good. If you love stuffed spinach, a creamy sauce with a smear of marinade and incredible potatoes, you're going to love this dish. With the hearty piece of wholewheat toast, It is so big that we usually just split it, paying an extra dollar. Well worth the money. The service is always polite, personable and friendly. Yes, if it is homecoming weekend or some other event you could end up waiting a while but it is a testament to just how good the food is. Yesterday, we tried their warmed up coffee cake-- OMG! Amazing. Now that is my fave coffee cake here too. The only (minor) negative I can think of is that like most establishments in the US, they have introduced overhead music. Nice as it may be, personally, I would rather have kept enjoying the peace and quiet of their surroundings with a casual, normal volume conversation. I did notice the last time we were there though, it was back to no music, just the lull of good conversations or people reading papers, etc. read more

Amazing breakfast spot! The best breakfast I've ever had (I ordered the migras scramble). Lots of vegetarian options and well priced. We are from out of state and I was SO impressed with the food and service. There are a lot of good options for breakfast; ample-sized portions and fresh ingredients. I don't eat animal products, so I ordered the vegan scramble, which was tasty. I had to deduct one star, because the toast (included with the meal) came slathered with butter; if someone orders a vegan meal, the kitchen / wait staff should know not to do this. Also, the ketchup bottle (delivered to the table for the home fries) was really sticky. The waitress should have noticed and wiped it off before putting it on our table. read more

The Rainbow is locally owned and operated with delicious food in a charming setting. They have a beautiful patio that is open seasonally. The staff is friendly and helpful. Many of them have worked there for years, so I imagine that it is a good place to work. They are very willing to work with any dietary needs and change items on the menu accordingly. The hazelnut coffee and spiced tea are both a treat for the taste buds! Truly one of my favorite restaurants. I have eaten there with family, friends, colleagues and by myself. The Rainbow is conveniently located across from the CSU campus. My only minor issue is that parking can be limited since the city took away the street parking in front of the restaurant. I just give myself a few extra minutes to find parking if I am meeting someone. read more

We have been going to the Rainbow for as long as we can remember it being in the location it is now. It used to be our favorite restaurant because of the quality food and atmosphere. However, we recently went for lunch and we were so disappointed that we learned that pasta has been taken off of the menu. The server was very nice and tried to explain what had happened and I guess the decision was made to remove pasta from the menu to make it easier for the line cooks. While not a chef, I can't believe that boiling pasta is difficult. Please add pasta back on your menu.Thank you read more

I have recently been diagnosed with a condition requiring me to be gluten free. I ordered the chicken Cobb wrap, asking that it be served with lettuce in place of the traditional wrap. It was delivered & beautifully plated. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. When time to pay the bill, the server informed me that I could not expect to have the chicken Cobb modified in the future. I asked why & the response was the kitchen gets too busy to handle special requests. I was stunned & embarrassed. The Rainbow has always been a family favorite, but the next time my family asks me to join them there, I will decline. I was told I could just order gluten free toast. I wondered how that could be any easier than simply providing lettuce leaves. Customer service suffered today. I had a similar request at a fast food hamburger place. My bunless burger came beautifully plated & I wasn't made to feel my request was unreasonable. Goodbye Rainbow. read more

I made an account just to share my experience. 1. The atmosphere was not as eclectic as I had hoped. It is a place for older women it seemed like. Looked like it was trying to be hip and failed. It also smelled a little.... Not sure what but it wasn't inviting. 2. Waited a while for the food. The salads I imagine are the selling point. I tried the Seitan Philly sliders and they were very salty. The fruit was nice and fresh however. 3. I would not pay for this place again, I had to try it after living in fort collins for 3 years. Lots of great stuff on the menu, but the service is somewhat unpredictable. My husband will no longer go after TWO consecutive visits where his order was wrong (taken back to fix and brought out wrong again!) and then his food came out cold on the next visit. Celebrated my birthday with brunch here on a Friday. The food was delicious with both rib-sticking and more nutritious options! Everyone in our party of 10 complimented the food. It's a convenient location near CSU campus with extremely courteous service. In addition, the menu is accommodating of food sensitivities and veggie/vegan eaters. Rainbow is locally owned, and the owner introduced himself and shared some of the restaurant's history with us. It was a wonderful and heartwarming experience! Highly recommend. While many restaurants in this town come and go, the rainbow has been around for 40+ years, and for good reason. All of the food is Great,, and most of it is vegetarian. It's a place where vegetarians, and vegans have plenty of options, without having to leave out there carnivore Friends. The Rainbow is one of my favorite places to eat! I usually go there for breakfast and many items have become favorites! For example, their pumpkin bread french toast is amazing... its topped with homemade rum sauce that is so buttery and deliciously sweet, that it practically melts in your mouth! It's also topped with made-from-scratch whipped cream that is one of the best things I have ever tasted. I also love their Jimburrito. Its filled with homemade salsa that is full of flavor, something that is usually lacking from other mild salsas. I also want to mention their waitstaff. They are always friendly and professional and have gone out of their way to help guide my family through the ordering process when it comes to our many dietary needs and preferences. I love The Rainbow! My family goes out for breakfast a couple of times a month. Most of the time it is to The Rainbow. My wife and I usually split an omelette, split in the kitchen; she gets quinoa and I get potatoes. Lately we have branched out to the guacamole omelette. Super great people and service. The kids get egg in a nest and coffee cake. They love the potatoes. Sometimes they get a strawberry smoothie with whipped cream. read more

Rainbow Rocks! Comfortable place with a fabulous outdoor eating area. I would like to see less pastel paint inside but that is just me. A lot of people think of only healthy, vegetarian food when you bring up Rainbow but they cater to vegetarians, vegans, omnivores, and carnivores alike. It is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner although I think breakfast is my favorite. They have a tofu scramble that is absolutely delicious! Sometimes when a restaurant attempts to be somewhat healthy and vegetarian/vegan friendly they fail miserably because the food ends up tasting like cardboard and grass clippings NOT so at Rainbow! I have dined here with vegetarians and meat eaters and both have been impressed. Oh and they have this beautifully yummy homemade bread and you can buy it buy the loaf! Highly recommended! Service is friendly, occassionally stoner kind of slow but if you plan for a long relaxing meal ahead of time you are good to go! read more

She also opted for a side serving of French onion soup, which she absolutely loved; it's rare to find a vegetarian version. We were pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were; we couldn't quite finish our meal. I'd say that the food was very good, but not great. I'd certainly come back again and again. Pretty good place for lunch. I often get the peanut cashew veggies, which are my favorite. I've also had poblano and cheese enchiladas (decent), sweet potato burrito (pretty good), and guacamole veggie burger (decent). Their miso salad dressing is good, and sometimes they have nice special salad dressings, like a peanut one they did once. One of my favorite go to places for breakfast. They have one of the most darling patios for outdoor dining. Love the staff and love the food (I have only had their breakfasts tho). Great breakfast at Rainbow this morning. Pumpkin bread French toast was wonderful. Hash browns are really closer to home fries, but were wonderfully spiced and had that delicious crispy edge that is sometimes hard to pull off. Fairly large proportions. I'm a pretty big guy, but next time I'd likely split the French toast with someone else and order a side for myself. Coffee was basic cafe fare. I definitely enjoy a fuller, darker brew.
