Dinner with a view!! The perfect Thai spot in the area. We drove here from Norwalk just looking at the reviews and hearing such great things from a few friends. We ordered the crab rangoons for appetizers, fried rice and drunken noodles for main course. Overall, the food was fantastic and the spice was on point. I'd definitely go back hear without a second thought the next time I crave Thai. Tip: Be aware the parking situation can get a little tricky when it's busy. We parked in the lot opposite the road and crossed over.

I had a really nice lunch here. It was my first time there, so we started off with Mee grob As an appetizer. It was a delicious shrimp with crispy rice noodles and some veggies in the sweet-and-sour sauce. Really delicious. For entrées, I ordered the chicken Penang curry and my friend got the shrimp in a pineapple curry. Both meals were fantastic. The curries were well flavored delicate and just exceptional. It was a very nice lunch and we will be back.

I ordered delivery through grubhub one rainy night. It arrived piping hot and on time. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai & veggie spring rolls (since I had to hit the $20 minimum). The spring rolls were good, wouldn't say they were something special but they were flavorful and crispy and the tangy plum sauce complimented it nicely. The shrimp pad Thai came with 6 shrimps with tails on (ugh) and two small cuts of a scallion stalk. I saw the menu didn't say that it come with cilantro so I requested them to add some in the notes which was ignored. Overall the flavors were okay without much depth. If you're NOT a fan of spice this would be a good meal choice.

The establishment called about my review and refunded me money so I am adding a star for good client service. Ordered fried rice and pad see ew for take out. Both orders tasted stale especially the noodle which has a rancid kinda smell. We had to throw our food out. Just disgusting.

A very cozy restaurant, parking is limited. Good service. I love Thai food and this place is pretty decent. We tried a couple of Thai restaurant staples - Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles. Both tasted really good. The spring roll was a bit too greasy.

Solid Thai place. Food is great and the people are always super nice. The parking here is a little tight but I usually get a spot and can get a table with little to no wait. If you don't want to deal with parking you can get delivery or pick up, both of which are fast. read more

Food was decent. Service was meh. Staff was sort of indifferent to the fact that you are there paying for service. I can't reconcile a service business that doesn't care about service. Décor is mediocre. I hope I'm not being overly critical because the place is fine...There's just nothing about it that makes me want to go spend $30+ a head for it again. read more

SO good, well I think so anyways! I always order the yellow curry which is stupid good and the dumplings are really good too. However my partner has ordered a few different things and hasn't been 100% impressed every time, but mostly he enjoys it. Also we took a friend there a few times and he said he doesn't think it's worth the money. With All that being said pretty much every other person I've talked to about this place LOVES it! Oh also, very important, YOU HAVE to order the fried ice cream. It's so good and perfect and exactly what fried ice cream is meant to be!! read more

This is clearly the best Thai restaurant I've been to in Fairfield County! I always use pork fried dumplings as a test in Asian restaurants and their's are the best I've had anywhere! The salads are excellent. I've had many different entrees and they all have been delicious. It's difficult to single out a favorite, but the sizzling rice pancake is unique and wonderful. The restaurant is attractive abd very clean and the staff is very chrming and helpful and speak perfect English which is a pleasant surprise. Always an enjoyable experience! read more

I really enjoy the pad thai and yellow curry. When I'm trying to be healthy I'll get the yellow curry with brown rice, it's delicious and not terrible for you. When I'm in the mood for something greasy, I get the shrimp pad thai. I love it, really flavorful pad thai, generous portion and reasonably priced! read more

I consider myself so lucky... an AWESOME Thai restaurant AND it's around the corner from my house! I can not rave enough about Rainbow Thai... the food and service is always excellent. We like to order take-out, but sometimes we go in for an early dinner and sit and watch the river. I know Westport is infamous for restaurants opening then crashing and burning, but I hope Rainbow Thai can stand the test of time. Love, love, love this place!! read more

One of the best places to go to for curries. The rich, flavorful curries paired with soft jasmine rice is absolutely perfect and makes for a satisfying meal. My personal favorites are the green curry with sliced beef and the chicken masamam curry. The prices are reasonable and the owners and staff always friendly and attentive. Two thumbs up. read more

Rainbow Thai has opened a Fairfield location in space formerly occupied by Cafe Lola and Grilled Cheese Eatery. The interior is light and minimally decorated. Food is very fresh and well flavored. The duck dishes are my favorite. Enjoy with a Thai beer. Service is prompt and very friendly. Good place to try before a movie, especially if you are short on time. Not many people have discovered this location, making it it easy to get a table--even on a Saturday night. Good addition to Fairfield restaurant scene. read more

Absolutly terrible. Completely unnacceptable. I recently ordered rainbow thai off grubhub with my partner mainly wanting some fried icecream delivered to our room. I recieved a call with the owner saying they only had one left when I ordered 2. I tried to cancel my order since we mainly wanted fried icecream but the owner told me I couldn't cancel it since the delivery guy already left. I said ok and just hoped the rest would be decent.. boy was I wrong. WORST THAI FOOD I'VE EVER HAD. I wish I could've given less than a single star based on my experience. We ordered the pad thai, mee goreng, chicken satay, and of course, the fried icecream: which came out to a whopping 57 dollars.. The fried icecream was melted to shit, and the ball of stale fried dough covering it was empty. The mee goreng tasted like microwave low mein with old fried shrimp. The pad thai was decent, but most certainly not 13 dollars decent and tasted microwaved. Reading the other reviews it honestly seems to me as if the staff that works there had written them. Maybe the food is better at the restaurant rather than delivered. Stay away. read more

Excellent!!! I am am Asian-American and grew up in Northern Virginia where there is a wealth of wonderful and authentic Asian restaurants - Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, you name it. For the 10 past years I've been living Fairfield county disappointed and depressed about the dearth of good Asian restaurants. Very disappointed in our take out pad Thai dinners. We have had great dinners in the past. This was lukewarm,dry and not very flavorful. One was chicken and the other shrimp. Will not be going back. I dined at Rainbow Thai with my husband two children yesterday!!! It was so delicious, we returned today!! FINALLY a Thai restaurant that we will return to again and again! The food was excellent, fresh (!!) and spiced just right!! After moving up from the city, it has been dismal on the food front (aside from Le Farm), especially for Thai food. My husband and I decided to stop in for lunch on a quiet rainy day. You walk into a small and modern dining room with excellent views of the Saugatauck River. We ordered red curry and beef rendang. Both were excellent. I also ordered a Thai iced tea which was exactly what I expected it to be although a tad too sweet for my tastes. Service was friendly. Overall a pleasant way to spend an afternoon lunch looking over the river. read more

I really like this place, the Thai curries are to die for. The prices are very reasonable for the portion size, and quality of the ingredients. My only criticism is the onsite parking which is very limited, so be prepared to find street parking and walk a couple of blocks. read more

I just went with a friend on Sunday after they'd cleared the roads enough to go out after the blizzard Nemo. Glad to see so many other positive reviews. I had the Chicken Pad Thai (which is virtually the only thing I order at any Thai restaurant because I love it so much) and I will say that Rainbow Thai's version is as good as any I've tasted (and much better than many). It was a bit more savory, and I asked for extra limes. Very tasty! We got a table overlooking the Saugatuck River (watched the ducks), had no trouble with parking (at 4:30pm) and found the service to be good. The menu is fairly priced for the quantity they gave us. Best Thai place in the area! Highly recommend their curries (red and yellow.. SO good) and their pad thai -- I must say that I don't experiment with too many other items because they're so good. You can also ask for different spice levels, so you can definitely kick it up a notch if you really like to sweat while you eat (it definitely adds to the experience) read more

My Pho was excellent, but I would have appreciated a bit more protein and it seemed to be lacking a little in saltiness could have been light on salt, soy or fish sauce. Easily remedied at the table. Service was friendly and helpful and the establishment was very clean including the restrooms. We started out with a pot of hot tea which was so welcomed. The beef stew pho was excellent, warming, and fresh. The fried rice was delicious. Parking can be challenging to find, but other than that we would highly recommend. We are looking forward to trying many more dishes here.

My girlfriend lives just up the street from Rainbow & as I live in Manhattan & usually only go for Thai & other country's cuisine in the city - I agreed to try this. Wow. I read a great rather rambling review on here & thought it was too good to be true but we went one Friday night then back again on Sunday with a couple of friends & ordered a little bit of everything starting with the dishes most highly recommended in this other review & moving on to some regular favorites. Everything is just perfectly done. I read yet another, the only poor review here & had t laugh that someone's complaining about papaya at this time of year, then it so happened one in our party ordered the same chicken dish with ginger that same reviewer panned. Well - one of our crowd is a professional chef who's name I cannot write here, acclaimed for her asian cuisine & while we were enjoying an after dinner drink at Rainbow, chatting with the really sweet girls who run the place. We passed the phones around reading this & other restaurants reviews. Well, every one of us read several of the reviews of the one person to give Rainbow a poor review & our chef friend only said one word about her. "Idiot" If you read her reviews you'll know why those of us who've worked in the industry all at one time or another have pictured ourselves murdering a customer. Some people look only for the negatives & too many people in these days of the Internet & ubiquitous blogging all think they are critics, reviewers & experts when in fact all the are is picky, impossible to please people. My GF tells me Rainbow is relatively new & not everyone runs to Yelp as much as I'd like to see so I say - take all reviews in. & see what the majority has to say. As for negative reviews. Well take note of the trends of people who write negative reviews & write so many that surely they think they are professional writers. Anyone who has the time to write that many reviews & all of them falling in the middle tells me that is one frustrated, chick who's hungry for something but it ain't food. I'm the pickiest most critical person in a very large group of people who dine out together 6 nights a week. So much so that everyone dreads "Asian nights" because I'm such a ball breaker (I dated a Thai Girl for 4 years & her father was a famous chef) I'm telling you that if someone doesn't like the food here; they're either just plain miserable or they don't know what they're talking about & should stick with that which comes from the frozen food section of their grocery store. A small place by the river, very nice view and cozy. Padthai is a classic, it's good and just enough sweetness and sour, add little spice for a kick. Drunken noodle and the mango curry also very good. The noodle is big flat noodle and the curry is thick and savory. The pork dumpling is the best dumpling i ever have, dip in the sauce with little bit hot sauce, it's to die for Price is decent (for westport area). Parking a bit tough, there's a big parking lot across the street, think it as an exercise to burn the calorie before and after you eat. read more

FOR CELIACS/GLUTEN ALLERGIC Coming from NYC, where all I could get at Thai places were curries (soy sauce in all the dishes), this place is Xanadu. Most of the menu is gluten free, including many battered/fried dishes. I hadn't had a whole fried Snapper in years- so good, I didn't know whether to eat it or fuck it! Rainbow Thai is a solid and good Thai restaurant. We order from them often as my husband is Celiac, and the menu is very gluten-free friendly. Dining there is a pleasant experience. The food is tasty, the wait staff are courteous , and the serene ambience is a zen space with big window views of the Saugatuck river. read more
