I am writing this review based on my personal experience with the Gardens of Riverside, where my…read moremother lived for the last four years of her life. Initially, everything seemed fine, and my mother was happy and active. However, things took a turn for the worse after Gracie Garcia took over as Director. I noticed that some caregivers seemed unqualified to care for Alzheimer's patients. In June 2024, I started noticing marks and bruises on my mother, but Gracie and Joanna refused to explain why, citing that I was not the power of attorney. Her power of attorney did not visit. My mother's cognitive state began to decline rapidly. I stopped receiving updates and photos of her activities, and during my weekly visits, I saw many residents, including my mother, left unattended in wheelchairs with no stimulation. In August, my mother was left standing unattended and fell, hitting her head and causing a brain bleed. Despite my persistence, the facility delayed sending her to the hospital for five hours. Gracie claimed it wasn't an emergency because she didn't see a bump on my mother's head, demonstrating her lack of qualifications. My mother's doctors' notes indicated that she needed follow-up care, but both the facility and her power of attorney failed to provide it. My mother passed away two months after her fall, and her death certificate listed a subdural hematoma as the cause of death. If my mother had received proper care, she might still be alive today, as she was not in the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. I am sharing this review to warn other families about the Gardens of Riverside and the leadership of Gracie Garcia. I've documented my observations of my mother through photographs from June to November. Although I was currently involved in a lawsuit with her power of attorney, her passing ultimately brought relief from my daily concerns about her well-being.

I placed my cousin at this facility in September of 2022. He had dementia for a few years, and it…read morewas progressing very quickly. He had been at three other locations prior to this one. I had visited before and had placed him on a waiting list. Staff had always been very nice and called me immediately if they had any concern. If I had any issues, Gracie took care of them immediately, but those issues never involved the care my cousin was receiving. At one point they called and said there was an opening in a smaller building, and they wanted to move him there so he could have more eyes on him, since he was becoming unsteady on his feet. This did not increase his rent. It is a memory care facility, so keep in mind that residents like to go "shopping". So, make sure all items are marked permanently. I used a washable tag and snapped them on with a tool from Amazon. Do not take anything of value, like jewelry or anything you would regret going missing. Do not take more items than they really need. The staff can give you a good number of items they really need. You really have to be realistic when placing a loved one in any facility. It's not being cold hearted; it's a fact of life. My cousin had very thin skin and bruised easy. That happens as we age and when he had bruises on his arms, I could tell they were from the way he leaned into his wheelchair. Two people at a time also had to pick him up to move him into his wheelchair, a recliner, the shower chair and he gave no assistance at all. A six-foot-tall man. I never worried while he was there, and this was a great relief. The Gardens called me as soon as they saw a pink spot to let me know they were contacting his health care provider. I was also comforted to have a conversation with a visiting nurse, and he had stated that this was one of the best facilities in the area and the staff was doing a really good job on treating a bed sore. My cousin no longer walked, nor stood and I was able to view the log on how many times he was turned each day. My cousin had starting to refuse food and would throw it and spit it out. The staff kept me informed and worked with his healthcare provider to try anything they could to give him nourishment. My cousin passed away on Good Friday 2025 from complications due to Alzheimer's. The Gardens staff was very comforting, helpful and considerate. He started to transition three days earlier and was on hospice. I would especially like to thank Gracie, Lynn, Vickie, Amanda, Jojo, Claudia and the maintenance man for their help during my cousins stay and during his transition. There were many others for which I don't know their names. They all showed so much compassion and understanding that was truly heartfelt.

Earlier this week I received a visit from a young man named Trevor who said he was the hospital…read moreadministrator. He had read my first yelp complaint and assured me everything here is not as horrible as I think it is but from now on if I have an issue to call the main number to the facility and ask to be transferred to his voicemail and leave a message. Since then I have left him messages on 3 different occasions for 3 different issues for pretty much zero resolutions. On this past Tuesday I was transported on a gurney 1 hour each way to my dialysis in hemet. The trip was brutally painful. When i got back I told many nurses, office staff and even made several calls telling whoever would listen (or who I THOUGHT was listening) that I refused to make that trip again. My left collarbone and arm are broken along with my left hip. I have a pressure sore on my tailbone. Laying on a gurney in a bumpy transport van for 2 hours total was more than my broken 70 year old body could handle!!!! I only go to dialysis Tuesdays and Saturdays so I figured in the 4 days in between one of the many people that work here could have relayed the message to this "hospital" and the transport team I would not be going today to dialysis. At 3am transport came anyway. I apologized to them for making a wasted trip and now my anxiety is once again through the roof. Long story short I did what Trevor the administrator told me to do. I called the facility and asked to be transferred to his voicemail to relay all this information as HE REQUESTED! They refused to transfer me and the nurse came back to my room to tell me they cant transfer to his voicemail because his office is locked. Now I'm no brain surgeon but, HUH???? I've had more anxiety this short week here then I've had my whole life. I am full of anguish and depair, and on top of everything physical pain. Since I know Trevor reads yelp before checking voicemail I believed this follow up would be a quicker way to get my point across.

I started a review Too Soon!!! In the last week I have had 4…read moreresidents who have not been conducive to my needs of recuperating. In The Last Week I HAVE ONLY SLEPT ONE NIGHT OF SLEEP! They proceeded to RUIN MY THANKSGIVING BY COMING INTO OUR Room AT 12:49 AM To Ask My Room B Bed Of How Tall She Was For Allowing The Pharmacy To Be Able To Provide Medications To Bed B When She Awoke In The Morning. It is NOW 1:57 AM, And I'm Not Sleeping Because Bed C Has Been Talking In Her Pilipino Language. Now She has Fallen Asleep. It's Now 2:00 Am and I'm writing my added review of Extended Care Hospital Who Is A Affiliate With Riverside Community Hospital. I'm Still Not Going To Get Back My Sleep All Because The Nurse Needed To Know How Tall She Was in 19B!!! At 5 Am the CNA Will Be Changing Our Briefs. For Me, I Have Been Wearing These Briefs For Over A Year Now Because I Am Not Able To Walk. The Administrator Trevor has been running this facility for one year and He's Only 25 Years of Age. He Left For Vacation On Wednesday. He had a Company Picnic On Tuesday On The Outside Patio To Express His Gratitude For A Year Well Done!! At 2:12 AM Bed C Is Awake Again Speaking Her Pilipino Language. So Needless To Say I Will Have Received One Hour Of Sleep Because That CNA Had To Change All Of Us Before He or She Gets Off Work At 7 AM. As Well As Continuing To Have Ruined My Thanksgiving Day!! So Needless To Say This Facility Has Not Allowed Me To Recuperate In The Past Two Weeks Here In Bed 19 A Because The Social Worker Doesn't Know My Needs Because She Never Graced My Presence At All To Room 19A. After Being Here For Two Days They Wheeled Me Into The Conference Room To Introduce Me To The Director Of Each Department. They Were Informing Me How They Can Help Me Recuperate While At This Facility. At 2:30 AM The Woman Has Woken Up Speaking Her Pilipino Language. At 2:33 AM She Is Still Awake. But Now She Has Proceeded To Sleep Again At 2:35 AM. Well It's 4:59 Am And I Might Have Gotten A Short Cat Nap Because I Remember A Little Dream Of What I Was Seeing In Bed 19 A. Bed C Is Serenading Us With Her Filipino Language. Bed B Has Slept Through The Night. It's Now 5:10 am and Bed B Is Giving Blood For Her Doctor. Now The CNA Will Be Changing Our Briefs. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Thankfully The Cherry Pie Was Good Last Night And Now I Had Very Good Pumpkin Pie. But I Still Want Out Of This Facility!
