Restaurants like this are places you go to for the "theatrics". The food is always ok and sometimes really good, but it's not fine dining. Be prepared to experience the rain forest, complete with a thunderstorm every half hour. Thankfully the staff always seems to be friendly and attentive. I went to Rainforest Cafe while I was in Las Vegas a few years back, so I thought I might give this location a try. It is located on the broadwalk. Our wait time was 30 minutes. I suggest putting in a reservation online before hand. This time around, there were alot of kids with their families. It is a relaxed vibe, but this is not a place to take a romantic date. It is family oriented, and somewhat different than the one in Vegas. The food was good. I like the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. The drinks however, is a different story The Strawberry Daiquiri was one of the worse I have ever tasted. It was very sour, and it tasted like juice. Thankfully, they took it off our bill. Some Rainforest Cafe restaurants are outstanding and worthy of a 5-star rating (the locations at Disney World Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs in Florida, for example). Other Rainforest Cafe restaurants are terrible and worthy of a 1-star rating (Atlantic City in New Jersey, for example). We recently dined at the Atlantic City location. Although it opened at 11am, we couldn't tell that the restaurant was open as it appeared dark from the outside and all the front doors were locked when we arrived for our 11:30am reservations, but we found an employee outside smoking on the side of the building who pointed to an unlocked side entrance. Our server was nice, but not very professional. The Caesar salad was good and the Creole mac n' cheese was really good, but the safari fries were way under-seasoned and the chicken tenders were soggy. Everything was out of stock. We ordered a character cup ICEE only to find out the restaurant was out of all 5 characters and out of 2 of the 3 ICEE flavors. There were no drinks in the gift shop cooler, no sunglasses on the sunglass spin stand in the gift shop, and hardly any personalized cups in the gift shop. We assumed that the lack of food and gift shop product is a sign that the Atlantic City restaurant is on the chopping block for Rainforest Cafe closures, but the announcement just hasn't been made yet. We felt extremely unsafe outside the building as we were pretty sure a drug deal was going down. We will NEVER go to the Atlantic City location again, but are looking forward to visiting either of the Orlando locations - especially the Disney World Animal Kingdom location. read more

Rating the Rainforest Cafe could go either way - depending on what perspective you're coming from. Kids would surely give this 5 stars for the animated display, realistic jungle sounds, and the coolness factor alone. Parents however will find overpriced and lackluster meals, and a theme beaten into overkill. With that being said this is the second time dining and second location I have been to. First to the one in Towson, Maryland (now closed) with my own children, and now a second time around with my grandchild. I remember the first time being a real experience and a destination. I don't know if it was because it was my first time as well and this type of dining experience was entirely new to me, or if I just went to the AC's location expecting more. The first time I remember enthusiastic staff, and pure excitement and a big too-do whenever someone ordered the volcano dessert. I remember more animals and animated birds flying, and the storm being more dramatic and realistic. This location seemed tired, the "jungle" like a dust magnet hanging over your head and food, and the animated animals few and far between. Two large pillar fish tanks lined the entry into the restaurant like a grand entrance only they were void of fish or any wildlife. The staff seemed less dramatic and there was no fess when the volcano desert was ordered.The "storm" was no more than a few seconds of noise. Our meals were overpriced and basic. My burger was good - the patty very similar in flavor to the Shake Shack only without that delicious sauce. I will say the patty is pretty thick, and if you order a double you better be darn hungry - it costs a whopping $17 but is huge! Our waiter was very polite, the bathrooms clean-ish. The kids meal had a variety of selections to mix and the price fair, but at the end of the day was still basic, frozen, fast food - no better or worse than what you would get at a fast food joint. The ceiling in the dining room is really cool and if you look real hard you'll see a shooting star. The gift shop staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices weren't as bad there as I was anticipating and I really liked the large animated snake on the way out. Overall it is a gimmick, an overpriced ploy to bring your kids to, and at least one (and only one) visit is recommended. read more

I mean obviously people are coming here for their kids, which I very much understand. However, the food is way overpriced and it's not very good. We waited almost 3 hours for a table on a weeknight. You can't even get a burger for less than $17. Nuts. There was a stale grease smell by the table that I had to ignore, (smelled like a poorly cleaned restaurant), and the table and the seats were dirty and greasy. Two of us sat in something and had to go clean up in the bathroom. I'm guessing that was because they were trying to turn the tables around so fast, so that's somewhat understandable. The scenery is very adorable with animatronic animal figures coming alive, forest themed light fixtures, fish tanks, and a thunderstorm show every half hour not to mention the cutesy plushes, photo memorabilia, and souvenir water bottles. I ordered an instantly forgettable cheese pasta, I believe it was a fettuccine and chicken dish, or something similar. It was boring accompanied with unoriginal and lackluster flavors almost paling in comparison to discounted store brand microwaveable pasta. I don't even mind eating frozen supermarket pasta, but at this price, I expected something with a little éclat. The volcano cake is what saved the day and made the experience positively blossom. It is gargantuan with a fabulous presentation of an explosion of cascading chocolate and caramel sauce paired with warm brownies with a vanilla ice cream center, whipped cream, and a sparkler on top. It was sweetly, sugary explosive confection of yumminess and most certainly a crowd pleaser. Service was attentive and approachable, coming over to check on us when necessary with amiable demeanors and did not mind substitutions. Meh. Since we were going to Atlantic City with kids, Rainforest Café was recommended to us. We checked out yelp and it allowed us to put our name down, so we saved an hour of waiting - however, even after we checked in, it was another 40 minutes more until we had a table. It was really not worth it. Yes, the jungle thing was cool for the kids but my children (ages 5 and 2) didn't seem too impressed. It was too dark to read the menu, many people had their flashlights on the phone to read. The service was good (the server even accommodated to my mom's request for a certain cup despite the drink she ordered) but the food was just so-so, and really expensive. After reading all of the negative reviews, I was really not sure about coming, but I'm really glad we did. It had been YEARS since we were there, and I realized that my youngest had never been there and was at the age where she was quickly outgrowing kiddie places. Need not fear, my almost 10-year-old LOVED it! Yes, there did not seem to be as many animatronics as I remembered and the aquarium no longer has fish in it, but it was still fun! And the food was good! Slow but good! My husband and I split a fajita and a cheeseburger. After first being served fajitas that had veggies that were too raw, I sent it back and had one of the best fajitas I've had in ages. And I really enjoyed that burger! My daughter's mac and cheese was delicious, according to her, but she could have used a bigger portion. Also, I hesitatingly entered the bathroom after seeing some previous reviewer's pics, but it was super clean. Went today and had lunch, was a little disappointed. I had fish and chips and my wife had a half rack of ribs.I don't know which one had the most grease. The wait staff was very attentive and kept our glasses filled. The ambiance was great for children and those of us that enjoy the animal world. I made my reservation weeks in advance due to a weekend concert (specifically requested something special for my daughters 16th birthday) NOTHING!!!!!! They celebrated other birthdays around us, but nothing for my daughter!!!! Service was horrible - food took forever and was ABSOLUTELY not worth the wait. Ordered a $8.00 toss salad - received an $11 Caesar salad. After waiting 20 minutes for my salad, I wasn't sending it back. Another 20 minutes later the waitress brought out the toss salad i originally ordered (with no dressing) she proceeded to tell me i would not be charged for their mistake. My party ordered a burger with side of avocado for $4-NOTHING. When the bill came i asked the waitress about the salad she was going to remove and she politely told me they were not going to charge me for the $11 Caesar salad that i ate, but just the $8 toss salad I originally ordered (wasn't that nice of them..) She took of the $4 for the missing avocado. She got a $5 tip on a A $155 bill (didn't want to leave anything to be honest), I felt like I was ripped off. Food was horrible as was the service. My friends and I came here for lunch before going back to NY from a nice birthday weekend in AC! My friend really loves animals and wanted to relive some cool childhood memories at the rainforest cafe. Upon entering the hostess seemed very tired and overworked as she was running the gift shop,answering the phone and seating guests I felt very bad for her. We waited about 15 mins to sit down even though we had a reservation fine not a problem. Once seated we met our waiter which was very nice and welcoming he got our drink order quickly. The menu is VERY VERY LIMITED but we found food we could all eat. Once we put in the appetizer thats when the waiting game started it took 35 mins for this appetizer to come and another 45 mins for our food. We were so hungry and annoyed by the end of this experience we couldn't think of ever returning ever again. The waiter was very nice but he was very overworked they were EXTREMELY under staffed for a Sunday afternoon. I feel bad for the employees of this restaurant if they want to continue to be in business they need to do better by their staff and also have more options on the menu. Rainforest Cafe is very interactive. When you first enter there is a tiny pond with a plastic alligator in it. On our visit the place was slightly dark and the restaurant is built like, well, a forest. Diners get the full effect with fake plants and trees built right into almost every aspect. There was a tank with real colorful fish and a scuba diver cleaning it. The animals built into the forest decor are electronically active and make noises as you dine. They have a bar and souvenir shop. This place is great for kids and adults alike. The restroom is clean. The waiters are friendly and attentive. The tables are made of plastic lining with the very same forest theme. They took pictures with us with their mascot, a guy or gal in a giant frog costume, oh no we didn't get the photo, I hope it's not hanging in their restaurant wall, no! The food is not cheap, my burger cost fifteen bucks before tax and tip. It had some cheese, bacon, sauce and I think an avocado in it, that's it. Fries on the side (I think that cost extra). My burger was huge, filled me up. It was average tasting, sort of like diner food. They also have pasta dishes, soup and other selections. I have mixed feelings about the Rainforest Cafe. This places is supposed to be great for families because it's packed with all kinds of cool things to look at: an illuminated ceiling that looks like a starry sky, trees and animatronic animals, a fountain, tropical fish, fake thunderstorms, etc. Very cool. But here's what sucks about the place: the wait if it's busy (we waited for more than an hour and there's no seating area, just a big room where you STAND. That sucks major butt when you've got small hungry children. So they have this darned gift shop before you enter the restaurant where you have to take your angry, hungry children to buy something to appease them. NOT COOL cause you're trapped. Two, it's difficult to get to. You've pretty much got to walk through the casino, which also sucks butt with kids. Three, there was just TOO much stimulation and my kids were freaked out. My husband and I LOVED it. I wish we had gone without the kids. The kid's food was pretty crappy, but our meals were awesome. The food was kinda like Chili's/Applebee's/Ruby Tuesdays, but much better. There's a bit more attention paid to quality of ingredients and subtle flavors. Great service and tasty vittles, but I'd go without the kids next time. Oh wait, we don't go anywhere without the kids, so I guess we WON'T be going back. Crap. The food was 5 star IMHO for a restaurant of it's nature, but the 3 stars reflects the overall experience. read more

What a cool & unusual place. I looked at the menu it had variety & prices weren't bad. This is a location everyone, of every age MUST see, it is incredible. It truly looks like a rainforest in Grenada. Got inspect & be a skeptic too see it is fake, so take it at face value & enjoy the interior. You guys really, you can never loose that inner child it makes life much more interesting and magical... get with the program. All the trees, forest animals, fruit, whstever, it is so cool.
