Worst experience I've had in a restaurant in a long time! Over Priced and Over Hyped! This place is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to! Had reservations and still had to wait over 45 minutes for our table. Manager thought a complimentary bowl of queso and chips would make it all better. Had it not been for my 9 year old, who's birthday we were celebrating and who was looking forward to the experience of the rainforest cafe. We would had just left and went to another restaurant for half the price and I guarantee you a lot better tasting food and service. Food was subpar and service was below average. Most people say they would compare the food to Apple Bee's. I wouldn't put Apple Bee's down like that! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! read more

I always enjoy coming to rainforest cafe ! I enjoyed my service as it was pretty busy but I got my food within a timely manner and enjoyed my safari waiter Jayden . He was so kind and checked on us a ton as well as was very personal . You don't find great service anymore but he should get a pat on the back ! Our family absolutely LOVED our first time visit to RFC. It was so much more fun than we realized it would be. Usually when we eat out with our 1 year old and 3 year old we have a hard time keeping them seated and usually end up needing to give them a tablet. This was the first time they actually were so entertained and happy that they stayed at the table and ate their meal! Both my kids really enjoyed the grilled chicken, rice, oranges, with a side of Safari fries. Yum! As for me, my food was way more flavorful than I anticipated. We had the chicken quesadillas and the beyond burger and they were so savory! Honestly, I didn't expect it to be that good but it is totally worth coming here again and again. I love the atmosphere but I can't handle just how bad the food is. Every time I go here I am hungry from walking around the mall. My husband and I brought his younger brother and all three of us had issues with our meals. I asked for a non-toasted sandwich (Iggy's Piggy Sandwich) $19 and it came toasted so it was too hard for me to eat since I currently do not have teeth. The ham was was dry and too hard to eat still when it picked some of the sandwich apart. My husband and his brother hated the taste so guess I didn't miss much ‍ We also got the crepes- DONT. They were so much smaller than advertised and for $12 they were nothing! Adding beef to queso is also an additional $5. So we spent a fortune on a meal we didn't want to even bring the leftovers home. In this economy- that is saying a lot! We won't be trying this place again. Also- a health warning for anyone with children. The kids menu we got was pre colored! Someone had it before us and colored in it. They are disposable paper menus for kids so this not only upset him to have it already colored but this is so upsetting. This is my first time ever a Rainforest Cafe and I must say I am blown away. Landry's you've out done yourself. The Gorillas, Monkeys and Tigers. The foliage-with the dim lighting makes you feel to some extent that your in the jungle. Finding something to eat is hard because the menu has everything. From burgers to pasta to fajitas to Steak and Chicken. Well as we waited to eat the trip took a turn. We went to the restroom and there was LIVE Lil roach running around. We informed our hostess and she jumped on the issue very quickly. The food came out looking picture perfect. And it was. My fajitas and set up (guac-cheeses, sour cream ) was really good I ate it as a salad. The shrimp tacos were filled to the rim and what I hear very good. I also saw my daughter demolish her Forest Burger. My grandson loved his chicken and fresh fruit and that's all that mattered. Well. I use to come to this place all the time when I was kid. We thought that we would bring our daughter for the first time because she loves nature. Originally we were told it would be a 2hr wait. It only took about 45mins. That wasn't so bad. However, we sit down to eat. We ordered our food. Only for a hour to go by and we still don't have our food. We were told 20 mins prior to leaving the restaurant that the waitress checked on our food and it would be out shortly. Once it made a hour we asked the manager to give us our check and cancel the food. However I felt we should be compensated for our time and shouldn't have to pay for anything. He proceeds to tell me how they can't discount liquor and it's the law. I guess he thought he was talking to a bozo because I have my TABC and you can definitely compensate for the juice we were served . Rainforest is starting to show its age, the experience is dusty and worn out looking. We stopped while visiting MeowWolf on Sunday June 28, late aternoon. Hostess was young female, bored with head resting on hands. She didn't speak at first as we stood in front of her. I asked if we were interrupting her, but wanted a table for 2. She casually glanced up saying 'it's a 2 hour wait', then nothing more. We asked if we could sit at bar, her only acknowledgement was 'yeah'. Bar was mostly empty, only a table of 2 was present. A quick scan around main dining area, showed several staff huddled around chatting and 13 empty tables. Women's room was DISGUSTING!! Only one stall had toilet paper, soap dispensers were empty and it smelled like sour diapers. I attempted to explain to another bored one at Hostess stand that Women's room had no soap or toilet paper. This particular over-filled lip Hispanic person was particularly nasty stating 'Lady that's not my job'. I calmly replied that I was insinuating it was their job, but possibly had a way to inform Manager or someone in charge to address. I got a 'yeah' and an eye roll. As for food, it's expensive and mediocre at best. Chicken in the Lettuce wraps was swimming in too much sauce, Lettuce leaves were wilted and useless to use as intended. Fish & Chips was acceptable, however very very heavy on breading which made me think frozen or hiding a junk piece of fish. Fish was chewy, if able to taste in the fried batter. Over 40 minutes after ordering the food came out wrong. Over an hour after that, after asking more than once, did what was advertised on the menu arrive. We visited the San Antonio location and could not have had a better experience. Our son has a severe shellfish allergy. We let the front desk know when we put our name in and by the time we went upstairs to get seated they knew at that desk as well. They sat us down and after our drink order was taken someone from the kitchen personally came to our table. He stated he was made aware of the allergy and would take excellent care of our sons order. He let my 7 year old order and never made us feel like there was a limit to what he could order (which we've run into at places ie: nothing fried because they fry things with shellfish). We never felt like there was anything he needed to stay clear of. He ordered pizza and corn and felt like royalty since he got to order first and with a "personal cook" as he said. We ate dinner with peace in our mind knowing that he was taken care of. I love when places go above and beyond when it comes to food allergies, but this is the first time my son has felt that peace and just ate great food in an awesome atmosphere. We are a Rainforest Cafe family and Landry's Select Club members- so we make sure we visit if a city has one: the kids love it that much!. This one was done very well. Everything looked clean and the ambiance was exciting. Our server was great! Very courteous. The 3 starts are because of the hostesses. This female was rude- and simply told us there's a 30 minute wait without asking if we have a reservation- which we did. When we brought up the reservation she vilely answers by saying, "next time, start with that." What a short and unimpressive person! And then (!!!) she seats us at the entrance of the restaurant - in front of the bathroom while the rest of the restaurant was empty- it was 12:45pm. As other customers arrived, they were all walked past us further into the restaurant - so that was uncomfortable- and this hostess was running and jumping around the area- adding to the annoyance factor. Off putting to an extreme degree. Service was slow. I guess the kitchen was just warming up- but they took forever to get our food out. The food was great! Quantity looked less than it is usually at other Rainforest Cafes and we were hungry after a 5 hr drive, having not had any breakfast, so we had to order more food. We also got dessert- not our usual Volcano, but the kids got the ice cream sandwich's and we shared a key lime pie. To be honest, they tasted stale. like they'd been in the freezer for ages. So far, we haven't been happy with the two Rainforest Cafes we've visited in Texas, Dallas and San Antonio. That doesn't mean we'll stop going to Rainforest Cafes though. Big turnaround here! Was about to write this place off finally after several years of poor service and mediocre food but we decided to use our Landry's birthday rewards here again the last several times and it took about 4 consistently good visits for me to realized somehow they pulled it together in the last couple of years. We used to get ignored at the Landry's select line, wrong orders, long waits, and bland food but now it's immediate service, reasonable wait times for food, great servers, and to top it off the bacon cheeseburger today was easily a 10/10 as bacon cheeseburgers go. The beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly to medium. Being on low carb they did a nice lettuce wrap as well and the zucchini vegetable side dish was also great. Come to think of it, we were shocked to see a huge line forming at opening that we've never seen before too so perhaps this is proof Landry's has fixed the problems there from the past. Gonna Have to say this was the worst experience I have every had in the Dallas area. The fish was dry as are waitress personality. Lisa Did a horrible job! We got there 30 mins after opening so there should be no excuse on the freshness! The guacamole was Horrific discolored as soon as we got it! You could tell that there grease needed to be changed by the color of the food. I really hate to bash restaurants but this was very bad experience. Everyone must come here once in their DFW lifetime, but it's really only a fun and magical place if you're a kid...or maybe if you're under the influence. TBD. As a kid, I loved Rainforest Cafe and went more times that I can count. When I take "my kids" now, they love it just as much. They also beg to come here at least once a month, and I'm just not capable of suffering through it that many times as an adult. The food IS overpriced, everyone else is right. Expect to pay too much for very subpar food that even Chili's can cook better. Expect sticky tables and dirty menus, even if you go right when they open. Basically, don't expect too much and only go for the one-time experience or to let your kids have a good time. And if you go with kids, blindfold them as you walk through the gift shop or prepare to a) go broke buying beanie babies or b) face the music of screaming kids who wanted beanie babies but left empty handed. read more

Horrible Experience. My husband, 5-year old daughter, and I went the the Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine, Tx. arriving at 8:20pm on July 3rd. After checking in the couple before us, they told us that they were no longer accepting customers. I told them we had traveled from out of town (45 minutes) but it did not matter. After calming my daughter down who was so excited to come, I called the manager and was put on hold for 17 minutes. When I spoke to the manager, I asked if this was a customary procedure. He said yes because of the mall closing and not wanting people walking in the parking lot. If this is the case, they need to change their advertised closing time. 40 minutes is sufficient time to serve a family of three when the restaurant wasn't even full. I had such high hopes for attending a restaurant my child would enjoy. This was a bad experience and poor customer service for my entire family. read more

Ok. I am not from here and came here several years ago so this time my 18 year old daughter and 11 yr old niece wanted to come while in town. I will say, I love the Rainforest Cafe. I love the atmosphere. Our waiter and I can't remember his name was AWESOME! Very prompt and polite and helped with suggestions. I had a special called bbq stuffed Meatloaf. It was stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, on top of creamy mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. Meatloaf= AWESOME! I need the recipe. Very tender and just wonderful. Same with the potatoes. The veggies were kind of cold and not tender. My daughter liked her pasta. My niece did say her chicken nuggets were from the freezer then cooked but still ok lol. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is #1, though it was good, prices are way too high. $30 for my daughters pasta. Paid $120 for 2 adults and 1 child and that's not including tip. And #2 though it's really cool when the animals go wild, they are LOUD. TOO LOUD. You have to stop talking til they finish lol. Oh my goodness. How is this place even in business? We went for a friends birthday dinner and I will never be back. First of all, it felt dirty. The bathrooms had push knobs in the sink (how is this even legal anymore? So gross!) and the floors were all sticky. Then our table was dirty so he had to clean it while we waited there. The menu. Not a lot of great options. The spinach artichoke appetizer with chips was decent, but nothing special. And the prices are crazy! I ordered a chicken sandwich and my daughter ordered the kids burger bites. I kid you not, both or our sandwiches were rock hard. Stalest of the stale bread. My $18 sandwich wasn't even edible. I couldn't even cut my daughters burger in half. So disgusting. This place may have a fun atmosphere but it needs to be shut down. read more

I hadn't been here since I was a kid! So I had to bring my two girls to experience it. So happy they have where you can be added to the waitlist through yelp!!
