This is a very long review, but i must get it off my chest. We visited this location many times. We use it as a reward for our son, who is autistic, for being good, cleaning up his room, following directions..etc. it is a way for us to escape the stress and just relax. It is difficult for us to have places where my son can enjoy himself and we feel it's a safe environment for him. He is autistic with a mentality of about a two year old. In May it was his birthday and he wanted to spend it here. Its all he talked about, constantly every five minutes for FIVE MONTHS, he drove his mom mad. We planned to eat and shop for his present here and make it really special. We tried to call and set a reservation by the tigers ( HIS FAVORITE) but they said they don't accept reservations. When we arrived, the hostess said there will be 45 minute wait. There were lots and lots of empty tables but we figured they were short on servers. We didn't mind the wait but asked if we could just be seated anywhere and NOT be served until it's our turn (and we get moved to a table by the tigers) because my son, being autistic on the severe side, won't understand why we are walking away and I was trying to avoid a meltdown. I knew and understood that we will not be served and we will be moved to the tigers area when it's our turn. I made it clear that I understood that they are understaffed and I don't mind the wait if they would just meet me halfway due to my situation. The hostess was nice and said she will get the manager, but returned shortly and said he said no. Well, we asked for him, but another server came instead. We explained the situation to him as well, and he also said he will speak with the manager and returned with the same answer. At this point we were upset because we asked to speak twice to the manager and were just blown off. We started to leave, fuming, but a sales associate at the gift shop noticed us and stopped us and asked very earnestly what was the matter. Yet again we explained the situation and she seemed puzzled so she said hold on I will get the manager. Well, he finally showed up and boy was he rude and condescending. Never have I ever been treated so disrespectful in a restaurant before. He wouldn't even listen to us, instead he accused US of being rude????? My spouse and I couldn't take it anymore, that was the last straw and we just said never mind, we don't want to ever eat here again and he just said fine and stormed off. We were flabbergasted and the sales associate just had a shocked look on her face. She then surprised us with apologies and kind words. This young, possibly teenager or maybe very early twenty something young lady had better sense than a manager and knew how to de-escalate a situation. Kudos to her. She even offered a hug and my wife, being a kind sould, hugged her. By then however, our plans with this restaurant have been ruined and we ended up going elsewhere for my son's birthday. Thankfully, and by the grace of God, we were able to avoid a massive meltdown but it wasn't easy. Because of the managers hostile, rude behavior, lack of empathy and his inability to think outside the box, We ended up spending 7 hours, yes 7 hours at an arcade till my son was so tired and stopped asking about the rainforest cafe. He only has a mind of a 2 year old. You try reasoning with a 5 foot 11 inches toddler. He kept asking and asking and we kept redirecting him to a game or a dance or anything to get him to stop asking until he finally stopped but not after so much aggravation and iritation and a massive headache to my myself and my wife. read more

We went for my daughters birthday a week or so ago. They had a table ready for us when we arrived and were quick to get us seated. However, our little princess was scared to death of the gorilla next to our table. I hated to even ask if we could move because of that but we were there for her and she wasn't budging, so I did. Arrived here on a busy Saturday afternoon & checked in. The wait was approx 1hr, not surprised for a weekend, we expected to wait, but they text you when your table is ready so we just shopped in the meantime. I was excited to bring my son for his birthday because this was a Landry's properties and I was very impressed on the quality of food at other properties. First, I must say that the quality of food was very disappointing. My son got a kids pizza and looked and tasted like cardboard. I had the rasta pasta and the alfredo sauce was bland and runny, the chicken looked liked it came from a can, I got 3 pieces of broccoli and maybe couple of pieces of spinach. My other son had a burger and the bread was hard and meat was dry with no flavor. My son was so upset that he didn't like his lunch. I would not recommend this place. The server was slow, somebody just put our food on the table without verifying whose it was. I think this is the location in the Grapevine Mall. I'm not from the area but traveling last year, I got to try out this new discovery. First, I think it's more for families and children. The whole restaurant is covered in a jungle setting. One corner has a waterfall that you can hear throughout the restaurant. I can see animatronic silver back gorillas, elephants and various other jungle creatures. It's dark and fun! The food was great and the selection was HUGE. Great cocktails. I got a drink that the bottom of the cup lights up and you get to keep. whoo hoo! I had the appetizer, Chips and Queso, which was bad. The food is really mediocre and there is nothing really unique on the menu. It's also quite expensive as are the prices in the gift shop which was to be expected. I should also qualify this review by saying that it really isn't my kind of place so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt somewhat. All that said my kids loved the place. The scenery and environment that was created is really pretty remarkable. Lots of animated animal displays and the entire place really looks like you might imagine if you were in a jungle. I'm not sure how reef fish can be found in a rain forest but the tanks are really cool too. Service-wise it was just average though we were seated near a service area and could hear some employees cutting-up and using a few minor curse words while we were seated at our table. They obviously didn't realize they could be heard from the dining area. The food did come out hot and in a reasonable time and we did get a visit from the Manager to check on us right after we got our food. read more

FOOD: I ordered the flat iron steak combo, which comes with fried shrimp and your choice of a side. Ordered my steak medium and received well done (-1 star). Menu is reasonably priced. I recommend ordering one of their special tropical cocktails. Most of their drinks will come with a complementary souvenir glass. ATMOSPHERE: It's fun, loud, and entertaining! The atmosphere here is awesome. It feels like you're in a tropical jungle with exotic animals in the middle of nowhere. They also have a bada** bar, which is the form of a massive mushroom! Dining at the Rainforest Cafe is a family tradition of ours every time we visit Great Wolf Lodge. Unfortunately, this time was not one of our favorites. We dined at the Rainforest Cafe for dinner on Monday, April 18th. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. The restaurant did not appear to be busy at all. We did notice a table of approximately 10-12 people, and a few other occupied tables here and there, but overall not many patrons. My son and I went to the restrooms to wash up and upon our return to our table, my wife indicated to me that no one had been by to take our drink order. After we had sat down, our waitress Casey stopped by the table near ours to speak with the guests and then made her way over to us. We placed both our drink and our meal order together. Since we were guests of Great Wolf Lodge, we were told we could get a FREE appetizer of chips and queso, so we did. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos. The order came with two tacos, each were beer battered & fried, with jalapeño ranch dressing, red cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, Caribbean rice, and black beans. When the plate came to the table, the temperature of my food items was "luke warm" at best. The tacos were very flavorful and had a nice little kick to them. The Manager on Duty came to our table a little earlier and mentioned to us if we needed anything to let her know. So I asked our waitress if she could ask Trish (MOD) to stop by our table. She came over and we communicated to her that we had what we felt, was a longer than normal wait before our waitress stopped by our table and about the temperature of our food. Also, our daughter had ordered the Rainforest Rascals which were char-grilled mini burgers with cheese. It was as if the person preparing them tore a Kraft single in half, and put each half on the burger. Trish communicated to us this is standard practice for these burgers. This was a first for me, typically the cheese on a burger is hanging off the side. Not in this case! As Landry's Select Club members, I was guessing there would be an offer of something. We've dined in other restaurants with no special privileges and I was thinking that there would be something offered, but the only thing we were offered was more water. You should probably just go for the atmosphere and a drink, the food is not good, my husband got the bacon cheeseburger and it was burn't. I got the bbq chicken wrap, the wrap was just ok, the Caribbean rice was dried out and not flavorful, the cole slaw was tasteless. If you or your kids don't like loud noises ask them not to seat you near the gorillas I think they are loudest. As for service... Terrible, NEVER refilled our drinks and we only had water so shouldn't be hard. The girl who brought our food pretty much threw it on the table and walked away, didn't ask if we needed anything else like ketchup or extra napkins or anything.
