SO GOOD!!! The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious and i love the laynes sauce. I also think their fries are perfectly crispy. Very important!! Honestly no complaints about the food it was great, and i'll definitely be back. Their rewards program is awesome too if you get the app! Minus one star because parking is rough, they had no ice for any of the drinks, and the woman at the register was not very friendly when we asked if they had any ice.

Chicken itself was yummy and fresh but disappointingly that's about all. Neither sandwich came with the sauce we had ordered, and there are no toppings whatsoever so a few pieces of chicken between dry bread was just not what I imagine or desire in my sandwiches. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, hots, bacon, etc would've gone a long way.

The restaurant was dead when I came in for an early lunch. The service was extremely fast and the worker was friendly, The spicy fingers had a good bite! They have multiple sauce options, I opted for the Layne's sauce which is very similar to their competitor. Overall the food was decent, the fries definitely needed salt and pepper and the toast was meh. It was kind of plain and dingy inside and the bathrooms were in desperate need of a cleaning.

This 5 piece meal was so damn good! I ordered in-person but went to one of the three kiosk. Ordering is a breeze there and the service was fast. The last two times I went for lunch, it wasn't extremely busy. They do have plenty of seating and when the weather warms up they can open up the windows and doors to get that fresh air flowing. I ordered Spicy tenders - now it's not anything spicy at all, it's more of a little kick of heat and flavor. The chicken was incredibly tender and paired with the jalapeño ranch and Layne's sauce -so delicious! Texas toast was soft with buttery goodness. I enjoyed every bite of this meal so much that I went back for more the following 2 days! Be sure to stop at Layne's for delicious chicken tenders, you will not be disappointed!

There is a long wait during peak hours, fries are crunchy and well seasoned, chicken strips are small and the ratio between chicken and breading is unproportional, and the toast is just a regular piece of toast.

Layne's Chicken Fingers on Forbes Ave. Such a neat little place packed with flavor. Could not get over their phrase of 'giving the finger since 1994' and loved their astronaut cut out as soon as you walked in. I got their club sandwich, spicy. The club sandwich has their house sauce, bacon and cheese on texas toast. Delicious!! Totally loved that they used the texas toast as the bread. Service was good. My food came out in a good time considering they were consistently busy. The cashier was rather helpful since it was my first time there.

You have to get the spicy chicken fingers. They are not too spicy just the right amount. My go to sauce is the jalapeño ranch and I would go back just for this. The staff is always very nice.

Layne's vs. Cain's in Oakland? Layne's. Hands down, no contest. I am easily disgusted by restaurant chicken in general because I will trim every little bit of gristle, skin, cartilage, tendon off of my chicken when I prepare it at home. Restaurant chicken tenders almost always gross me out because I'll find something in them that I don't want to eat. Layne's spicy chicken tenders are crispy outside, mildly spicy, very well seasoned, tender/juicy inside and they're not chewy and sinewy with tendon. Crinkle fries are crispy and salty. Shakes are just okay, kinda small. Service is quick and your food comes out hot. My experience was consistent both times I visited.

Yay! We got a Layne's. Just in time to compete against the upcoming rival Raising Cane's and Chikn a block down. So, let just start with the friendly smiles upon arrival. The cashier and staff were so pleasant and welcoming that it made us feel good about our choice to eat here. This place was very clean. Although they had steady traffic, as soon as someone left the dining room, a staff member came out to clean the table to get it ready for the next guest. My chicken and fries were hot and fresh, and the garlic bread was delicious. Soft on one side and a light garlic buttery, toasty flavor on the other. I tried both the spicy tender and the regular tender. I must say the spicy tender won by a landslide. The seasoning on that breading was amazing. I dont think it was too spicy, but it was very well seasoned! I like that they had different sauce options, and the jalapeño ranch was great, but the Layne's house sauce is boss. It's definitely not my last visit here. Can't wait until the other locations are complete, so I can try one closer to home.

I went there this evening for a preview private event with a friend around 5:30pm. We walked in and were greeted almost immediately by the owner who told us a little bit of the history behind Layne's. We were able to walk up to the counter and order right away. Our food was brought out to us and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu is small but that's always the trademark of an efficient restaurant who knows how to make their few items well. I got the spicy five piece tender meal with Texas toast, fries, and two sauces, Layne's sauce and the jalapeño ranch. My friend got the club sandwich meal which has three chicken tenders, cheese, Layne's sauce, and bacon between two pieces of Texas toast and was served fries. Our chicken was nice and crispy and my spicy tenders had a small kick but was not super spicy. My friend's club sandwich was incredible - the buttery toast, crispy bacon, and Layne's sauce flavors all worked perfectly together. The Layne's sauce is peppery and also has a kick to it in the best way. I also really enjoyed their lemonade; it's house made, sweet and not tart, and is reminiscent of lemonades made in front of you at state fairs. Sadly their milkshake machine was on the fritz but I definitely want to come back to try either their Oreo milkshake or their salted caramel one. We were absolutely stuffed after our meals and had to waddle out of there! The restaurant itself is located at the corner of Atwood and Forbes in a spacious location that previously housed the Halal Guys. They did a nice job with the space, going with Pitt colors and a Pitt theme. As a Pitt alum, I really enjoyed all the Pitt references and can definitely see students hanging out there. We spoke with the owner again at the end of our visit and he told us how he's aiming to get customers their food in 2-3 minutes once they open since he knows how busy students and the many healthcare professionals that work in the area are with their limited lunch breaks. Overall, I enjoyed my experience there and think that it's worth the money. The prices are quite reasonable and you get a good amount of food. Their soft opening is on Monday, 8/28/23 and their grand opening will be on Friday, 9/1/23.

The chicken tenders were good and the sauces were tasty. We got the food to-go and had a 15 minute drive home. When we started eating the fries were soggy and so was the bread. I prefer Bird on the Run that's crispier and heartier(admittedly more expensive), but this beats a lot of other comparable chicken joints. I didn't care for the decor or the tongue and cheek slogan but it made sense for being next to Pitt. The lemonade was awesome. Giving it a 4 just because if I'd had the fries and bread fresh and not soggy I would have liked it more. Staff was very friendly and the food came out promptly.

New to Oakland, Layne's seems to already drum up a great crowd. The chicken was flavorful, and I also enjoyed the Texas toast, fries and milkshakes. It's fast-casual and the food comes out quick. The staff was really kind and spoke to me about the background of Layne's and Cane's.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.

The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.

Came here for dinner on a Monday evening. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and large cajun fries…read more Total came out to around $16. What's Hot - Free peanuts. Helpful and awesome! I was able to munch on peanuts while I was waiting for my friend, which was helpful. There is a metal scoop so that you can scoop out the peanuts (which are unshelled) without using your bare hands. They also provide small container for you to hold the peanuts. You could also take these peanuts with you if you don't finish them, which is convenient. - Portions. What I love love love about the fries is that they will scoop extra fries into your bag, which flows over the cup that holds your fries. I ended up having leftover fries for the next day. My bacon cheeseburger came with 2 meat patties, in addition to all the toppings I added on my burger- mushrooms, sautéed mushrooms, ketchup, and pickles. Their burger toppings come at no additional cost, too, which is helpful. - Quality. My cajun fries were definitely spicy and had a kick, which was yum! - Layout. It's a pretty decent layout. There are several tables and high stools by the window counter. - Service. Their staff are nice and helpful. I asked a couple of questions cuz it's been a while since I was last at a Five Guys. I also asked for an extra bag before I left so that I could hold my leftovers in a non-greasy bag. They answered my questions, were helpful, and gave me what I needed. - Location. It's in Oakland, which is convenient. However, because it's so close to University of Pitt, be prepared that this place can get busy with students. What's Not - Prices. Close to $20 for one meal and no drinks is pretty high. To be fair, their portions are pretty good. Just be prepared that a meal can cost you. That your burger toppings are free and that there are free peanuts may compensate for the higher cost of the individual items. - Location. The equalizer for the convenient location is that it can get busy. Additionally, this is not a place you drive to. Parking in this neighborhood is inconvenient. Walk or take the bus. - Cleanliness. Given that customers are shelling their peanuts and eating all their food out of the brown paper bags (which the food come in), it's easy for the tables and floors to get dirty. I didn't see any of their staff sweep the floor. I saw one of their staff come out and wipe a couple of tables once or twice. However, they don't appear adequately staffed to handle the restaurant at full capacity. Be prepared for there to be food droppings and whatnot on their tables. - Quality. Their burger was good, but not very flavorful. The taste seemed neutral and not seasoned. It's not bad, but I've had better. I like their cajun fries better than their burger. Put it this way, I wouldn't come here just for the burger. Final Answer Willing to come back, but I don't think their burger is their main attraction.
