Another fantastic Indian restaurant in Mason. This one has a pretty standard spread of northern Indian offerings, consisting of various curry dishes with chicken, lamb, seafood or vegetarian. There is a variety of breads and other appetizers as well. Our party ordered the chicken tikka masala, lamb saag and chicken tikka saag. All of them were very tasty and reasonably spicy (as requested). If you're in the area I would highly recommend this spot. read more

Ate here with a group of friends this week. I ordered the lamb vindaloo with a heat level of medium hot...was delicious & just the right amount of heat for my taste. I sampled the curry goat my friend ordered...Yum! The naan bread was good. The rice appeared to be jasmine rice & was wonderful. The server brought us extra rice when ours disappeared so quickly. Another friend ordered the vegetarian sampler platter & I had a few bites of it...very good. My favorite thing was the 3 sauces the server delivered to our table: one was a sweet brown sauce, one was cilantro/mint & a little spicy and one was an onion type relish that was HOT but delicious! The service was excellent with our server explaining anything we wanted to know about the food. It was a little pricey but the quality was top notch. You get what you pay for! read more

I'll try to keep this one short and sweet (try, okay, I'll try). I love this place. Everything about it is excellent, in my honest opinion. The food is amazing. So far I've had the chicken vindaloo (spice level 4), and the aloo gobi (don't remember the level I got for this). Both times I got a double order of traditional naan bread to share with my boyfriend. Both times he got a lamb dish and he loved it. They bring everything out in cute little oval serving dishes, including the collective orders of rice for your party, and some empty plates so that you can dish it out as you go and possibly share each dish amongst the table, which I really enjoy. Both times me and my boyfriend have eaten here, we left full and satisfied. The naan bread is on point. I'd next like to trying one of the other kinds of naan they offer, such as with onions and such. I loved the aloo gobi I ordered the first time, which I would recommend for someone not looking for too much of a sauce. I adored the chicken vindaloo from my last visit. A spice level of 4 seems to be my perfect limit for spiciness, but I consider myself a chili head of sorts, so be careful. They also offer a very interesting but enjoyable tea they call "special tea" on the menu that was really warm and full of spice. You should try it if you don't mind milk. The service here is everything I want and enjoy in a pleasant dining experience. No matter how good the food is, if the service is terrible or unfriendly, it's a no go for me. But Raja has always delivered on a great and polite experience. Really, the people who work here are just a delight. Kudos to you service staff! So overall, I came here for the good food, but I come back for the great service....and also the chicken vindaloo. Go try this place. You'll love it. read more

They're consistently serving flavorful and amazing dishes. They always hit the mark on the spice level we request as well. This is the best Indian restaurant in this area and there are many around! My family usually gets the vegetable pakora and aloo tikki for appetizers but we decided to try the non-veggie special. It reminded me of a large calzone. The filling was a delicious combination of green peppers, onions, potatoes, chicken and cheese, chopped finely with wonderful spices inside a beautiful fried pastry. It is my new favorite appetizer! We also had lamb curry, chicken curry and chicken makhani. All were excellent! We have also eaten at the lunch buffet which is very good! Can't stop thinking about that fried pastry though! Ordered delivery of Chicken Tikka Marsala (spice 3/6) and Paneer Makhani (spice 2/6). Food arrived quickly and was edible. The tikka marsala lacked body and depth of flavor. The makhani had a sour note, lacking any noticeable raisins pieces and minimal nuts pieces. Garlic and plain naan were good. Wow. I am disappointed I have never tried this place until now. Raja India is definitely one of my favorite Indian spots in the City. Friendly staff, homey atmosphere and mouth-watering cuisines. I didn't take a picture but the keema (beef) samosas were on point. The beef was seasoned very well. The pappard was also very good. Mildly flavored, the pappard is ideal for snacking with any alcoholic beverage. The veggie pakoras were also very good. My 2nd favorite in the city; Brij Mohan still has my favorite veggie pakoras. For my entree, I got the Raja Indian Special. It comprised of lamb curry, Matar paneer, tandoori chicken and some kind of lentil curry (not a big fan of the lentil curry.) The lamb curry was excellent. The curry was not overly flavored and the lamb was tender and well-seasoned as it should be. The matar paneer was superb and I don't even like peas so that's saying something. The Savory curry had a light tomato taste with a mellow sweetness that made the peas a great accompaniment. The mildly flavored paneer added texture that really enhanced the mouthfeel of the dish. The tandoori chicken was awesome. It had this seasoning on top called "black salt" that really put it over the edge. As for dessert, I got the gulab juman and mango lassi. The gulab was good but the mango lassi was one of the best I've ever had in Cincinnati. It had the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. The initial attack on my tastebuds was tart, just enough to make me go whoa! Quickly followed was a smooth wave of heavenly sugariness that slowly mellowed out, leaving my mouth feeling happy and satisfied. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! read more

This is my go to Indian restaurant. Food is consistently good and service is fast. I've tried a couple other Indian restaurants around the Mason/West Chester area and this one is by far the best. I ate the buffet only, not off the menu. The food was typical of any Indian restaurant in the area, neither bad nor good, which overall is good I guess since the food was competently executed. For both me and the party next to me, the two "waitresses" could not be bothered to bring us our checks or ask us how our meals were because they were too busy on their phones behind the counter. This is our favorite Indian restaurant in the area. We go atleast twice a month. I'm a big fan of the shahi paneer.

Raja Indian restaurant is very indian authentic. Most of all I like the Thali platter which comes with mutton, chicken curries, paneer mutar and tandoori with rice / Naan. Great quantity with yummy goat/ mutton curry. Waitress is a great listener and served us quickly with yummy food. There is buffets in the afternoon too. I would go again with family. read more

This is my favorite Indian restaurant and I always stop here when I'm home. The saag, chicken tikka, kebabs, tandoori chicken, chickpea curry, samosas, naan... I could go on. I do not have a ton of experience with Indian food, but this is a favorite go to for carry out or dine in. Very friendly, family run establishment. Also very helpful in guiding you to the right dishes. Heat level 1-6. My delicate palate, , can only handle a 2. My husband, 4-6. Love to start off with Naan, any and all variations; potato, onion, garlic, but Paneer is my fave! It's a firmer cheese, like feta. Who doesn't love flatbread with treasures hidden inside?! Lamb Saag is my go to comfort dish, it used to be chicken Saag, until the owners encouraged me to try the lamb. It is so rich and tender, in a spinach cream sauce. Butter lovers, this is for you, like me! Chicken Bhartha is my second favorite. Tender chicken with very tender eggplant, mildly spiced, almost a thick sauce of eggplant. Hubby doesn't venture far, chicken Tikka Masla, every time. In his defense, it is good. Creamy tomato sauce with onion, with that wonderful flavor I've yet to put my finger on. If I'm feeling frisky, I dribble a little of his sauce onto my Naan or Saag. Level 4-6 is spicy, but I like just a little kick. My vegetarian sister loves Malai Kofta, formed vegetable balls, in a creamy tomato sauce with onions. Chicken Vindoola is good, just a tad too hot for me, hubby loved it. Chicken, potatoes, and vegetables cooked in a hot sauce. Came sizzling to the tables. Reminiscent of the old fajita days. Chicken Biryani was decent, just dry. Chicken, rice, nuts, and peas. Guess I like the sauce. Located in a strip mall, no great decor, but great food and genuine people. Also, they have a great beer and wine selection. I cannot speak to the authenticity, but I can speak to the service and the flavor. First, from a service perspective, Raja has it going on. The service when I've been here is quite good and attentive. When we had a meal come out with the wrong heat level, they were quite willing to take it back and re-make it if we wanted. In my case, it was one step higher than I intended, but I didn't have it remade, and I wasn't disappointed. Flavor-wise, all I can say is "Wow!" I have really, really enjoyed the curry. I order it at a 6 on a scale of 1-6, and it's really fantastic without being overpoweringly hot. There is not a dish on the menu that I have heard anyone say even the slightest thing bad. If you are looking for Indian in the area, I'd recommend checking out Raja. I like it the best out of the ones I have tried so far. read more

Raja is not the best Indian I've had. It's mediocre... yet it's the closest, so I get take out from here probably once a month. I've never actually eaten in the restaurant so I can't tell you how the service is. My order is always correct and they give you plenty of rice. It's just ok. Not very strong flavors - I agree with Caroline by saying it has very "American" Indian tasting food. Spice level is 1-6, I always get a 4 which sometimes is really hot and sometimes is really mild. This was the first time we tried Raja which was an alternate choice because our usual go-to Indian restaurant was closed. Phone in a to-go order fo Samosas, Shahi Paneer, Paneer Makhanni and Naan. Everything was very good and very flavorful! Not a huge fan of mint, but the mint sauce for the Samosas was great. There was enough left over for lunch the nest day. Wonderful! I'm not one to go outside my comfort zone so I always get Chicken Tikka Masala(spice level 4/6), Bhatura, and Garlic Nan. My fiancé and I split an order of the Tikka Masala which we always have another serving left over after we eat. The spice level has varied each time although we always order level 4. I honestly couldn't wait for a spare moment to put up a review here. Let me preface by saying I'm not an Indian food aficionado, but I've been to my fair share of Indian restaurants. So while I don't know how authentic the food is, I can tell you it's is quite tasty. First off, I'm happy to say this was a sit down Indian food experience, with a large and widely varying menu and a really attentive staff. Don't be confused, this doesn't mean they're hovering your entire meal, it means they observe from afar and know when to bring your next course or fill your glass. Can I just say I love carbs! (Because I do) I have never in my life seen so many flavors and spice varieties of naan. Mind blown! So can I suggest you start with the naan! So then we move onto the main courses, they have plenty of choices with a variety of proteins from pork to goat. The nice thing about the menu is that the Indian name is clearly printed, but there is a very clear and descript, in English, narrative of the dish. May I suggest that you treat the meal as a family style situation. So order a few entrees and they'll bring you some extra plates to share. Really try this place, it gets packed on a Saturday night. As far as buffet goes, this is price at a good point for $9.95. The problem is I would rather spend more money to eat quality Indian food. If you want to eat cheap and tasteless this is your place. The chicken tikka masala was runny, the chicken was gummy and it didn't even taste like tomato. I understand that is a buffet and things can not be spicy, but it shouldn't compromise the flavor. I also tried the samosas and they where extremely greasy. I can't pick anything from the buffet that I actually like, and I love Indian food so I was a little disappointed. Not sure if ordering from the menu would be the same. But for now I won't be visiting this place anytime soon again. read more
