WOW - I have to agree that the GB Raley's has gone downhill. I grew up a Raley's Girl & I've shopped the GB store since they opened. Besides the high prices, & the decline of produce quality, I find having to use the Raley's App to get member sale prices frustrating. That was my mindset going into the store. After spending $130+ in groceries, the cashier spoke to me in a very condescending manner at checkout. The reason "because I didn't CLIP the offer" and instead just had the ONE item in my "shopping list" on the App. She talked to me like I was 5 yrs old, rather than a grown woman (Senior). I do my banking & most shopping on line, but she acted like I was an idiot. She was obviously frustrated that she has had to explain the App to several customers in the past & said it's the way stores do it now days (referencing CVS, Walgreens). I shop 4 other stores that do NOT require using an App. I am so appalled at this treatment - esp since it was by one of their long time employees (older woman, dark hair). She could even be a supervisor or manager. I walked out thinking I would never shop there again. read more

Went to the raleys to order a sandwich before work walked up to the deli area and waited 20 minutes without anybody greeting me or starting my order. Had to end up leaving for work before I even had somebody talk to me. After leaving I called customer service and all I got was an "I'm sorry that happened" I would expect more from a large company, now will be working for the next 5 hours without having eaten. read more

This Raley's is my favorite!! The store is always clean and well stocked. The sandwich station can get crowed during lunch, but they always do a great job. The Sushi is also delicious and the guy who works there is super accommodating. I can't eat anything with dairy or gluten, so he makes my rolls plain and always fresh. He also makes them extremely cute and fun. I appreciate the level of service and kindness this Raleys has. My kids love getting a fresh cookie from the bakery. How could anyone complain that there isn't enough variety at this Raley's? I walked through in absolute awe. This place is my grocery HEAVEN. After 3 years of living in SF where stores are tiny, I was in such large-grocery-store-shock that my friend had to tell me to stop taking pictures of the aisles. No joke, I couldn't believe so many variations of the same product existed. They had every type of Oreo product you could imagine, the entirety of Bob's Red Mill products, and for my fellow Jews - Matzoh packages so large they could feed an army for weeks. Manischevitz Matzoh isn't your thing? No worries, they had 3 brands of MONSTER-sized matzoh packages. And normal-sized boxes for those of you who can't eat 15 lbs of matzoh in 8 days, of course. Plus there's a pharmacy and a prepared foods section. How could anyone complain about this place?! read more

The cashiers and baggers here are so friendly! My kids and I go to this store wayyy too much (like almost daily or on a day like today, twice)! All the young cashiers and baggers are so nice to my kids. I am TERRIBLE at remembering names but I know it includes two younger brunette girls, a girl who is old enough to drink who knows she needs to try left hand milk stout, Ethan, Seth, a guy who recently moved to the produce department, and the young buck in the produce department who helped me find an amazing watermelon during the summer! He literally touched and knocked on about 20 watermelons to find me the perfect one. We always start each trip at the bakery and get a free cookie for my older kid (the blonde guy with glasses usually helps us), sometimes we stop at the meat department and the thinner middle aged guy who is super nice and had a young granddaughter helps us, then my son gets his free banana and then we get the free sticker. So 3 freebies each trip but boy has that kept us loyal to this store! My son loves going grocery shopping with me and these little perks, along with the great customer service keep us coming back. My former diehard loyalty to Safeway has pretty much vanished. :) read more

I have always received great customer service at Raley's from friendly cashiers however, there is now a management issue at this store. I made a quick run to pick up a few items including produce and the cashier had quite an issue that I didn't use self check out when there was one person in line ahead of me who didn't have a lot of items. The condescending level of disrespect was appalling. I was shocked when she revealed she was the manager that evening. Coincidentally I received a request from Raleys to review my experience during that visit to the store. Four days later and I still have not been contacted by the day manager. I would avoid this location at all costs unless you enjoy being disrespected by those who don't want to do their job. read more

Easton in the produce department is a very loveable character with many good qualities. Especially singing! I have been shopping in this store for a couple of years and within the last 6 months there has been a sharp decline in the service and product in the store. I went there last night like I do almost every day because it is the closest store to me as well as the only store in Granite Bay. I went to get produce for my dinner. I have to say that shopping at Walmart would have been a better experience. The customer service is bad but to find this in the produce dept in beyond disgusting and there was no one working in the department to tell. I don't know exactly what is going on but when hours are cut so bad that the food becomes rotten in the bins and leaks all over for long enough for bugs to infest it something needs to change. read more

I did notice a little bit of a difference after the economy went down, but all in all the staff are still super friendly and helpful. More so than any other Raley's I've ever been to. The only thing about this Raley's location that is positive is that it is close to my house. I have been able to shop at this Raley's for 25 years. I have seen the customer service and staff attitudes go from poor to good to poor to ambivalent. The folks in the meat dept. and the bakery are great. The are very helpful and have great customer appreciation. The staff in the deli area generally do not know anything about their products. Now the checkers. How can I say this politely? These checkers could care less if you are alive, dead, or a walking zombie. There is little verbal contact. Little or no eye contact. No Thank You's. Many of the checkers should go to an manners class. I was in there today and said thank you to a checker for giving me a receipt and he replied No Problem. Really, No Problem. We shop regularly at our local Granite Bay Raleys and love the store and the staff. Everyone is very happy and helpful and go out of their way to help. I finally tried the eCart service since it's free for the first 3 shopping trips and boy was it the easiest and best way to shop ever! The staff were so friendly and eager to please. This place has gone down hill. We live down the street and shop at this store due to convince. The prices are high and the service is hit and miss. The last straw was when we visited and my 2 year old son asked for a balloon. The young guy behind the flower counter was very nice and offered him a balloon. Suddenly a lady, who I expect was his manager, comes out and tells him that they no longer offer free balloons. The poor guy froze and asked what he should do; she just repeated herself. I offered to pay for the balloon and she just walked away. The poor guy looked confused and didn't know what to do. I hope the few cents they'll be saving is worth losing our business. There are still some good people here but many are apathetic and unprofessional looking. Seems like they are afraid to enforce masks in their stores. After 10 years shopping at the Loomis store, sadly I can not risk my health in there any longer. Whole Foods, Costco and Trader Joe's, all enforce masks in store and limit number of people in store. Talked to Raley''s corporate, and they mentioned HIPPA as an excuse. It is not a HIPPA violation to require masks, if you don't ask for the health reason when people say they can't. read more

I am rating them in 4 areas: Customer service - 5 Stars Variety/Stock/Pricing - ZERO Stars Location/Ease of Access/Hours: 3 Stars Clientele - ZERO Stars I am giving them an overall rating of 2 Stars because they are a local, family-built business with a decent history of philanthropic efforts. If it weren't for this, I would give them 1 Star at best. When I moved to this area, Raley's was the obvious choice for grocery shopping, as Safeway was a mile further away. I liked the idea that Raley's was a local company and was excited that they had what appeared to be a fairly comprehensive Natural Foods Department. Having lived .62 of a mile away from this store for 6 months now, I can safely say that shopping here is a last resort. I do most of my shopping across town at Whole Foods or if I'm looking for the best deal and greatest variety, at Safeway. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Outstanding. Nearly every checker, bagger, stocker or specialty employee seems happy to see you and proactively offers assistance. They remember regular shoppers names and tidbits about them, portraying a genuine interest. Unfortunately, these outstanding employees are at the mercy of incompetent managers and ridiculous company policies & restraints. A woman ahead of me in line attempted to pay with a $100 traveler's check. The clerk said that she couldn't break it. The customer asked what she meant and the clerk said she did not have enough cash to give her change. (Since when does a supermarket not have 4 twenties in their register?). The customer asked to speak to the manager. The manager told her that they do not take traveler's checks over $50 dollars. First, that is a different excuse than the clerk gave and second, that is not true and illegal. I pointed this out the manager and the customer at which point he said he would make an exception. If you're curious as to the rules of traveler's checks, check them out online. They must be treated as cash. So this was a fishy little bullshit story that really seemed to have no justification. On another trip, the young woman ahead of me attempted to buy a bottle of wine. She presented an out of state ID and was told by the clerk that they do not accept out of state IDs. Again, illegal. The clerk double-checked with the manager who supported the clerk. When the woman presented here US passport, the manager (same guy who dealt with the traveler's check issue) said that her passport was not a valid form of ID. Again, bullshit and illegal. The woman argued with him and the manager said that he was reserving the right o provide service to her, but wouldn't give his reasons for why. I saw this as being total age discrimination. She looked young, so when she presented an out of state ID, the was (undue) question of concern on the part of the clerk. However, when she presented the manager with a USA fucking PASSPORT that matched the ID, there was no reason or justification to deny her from buying a bottle of wine. Thus, I have witnessed the management here not only look stupid, but possibly also creating legal liability for the company. VARIETY/STOCKING/PRICING: Raley's carries a large variety of products. The problem is they can't seem to keep them in stock. On one visit, I went to buy "specialty" cheese for a macaroni I was going to bake. They were out of Gouda, Edam, Gruyere and Fontina and the display case that typically holds them was spread thin with a handful of other cheeses. I drove to Safeway and found them all. Another trip and they were out of feminine hygiene products. Not just one brand, but all tampons. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving they were out of 7 products I needed. Yes, Safeway had them all in stock. This goes on and one. Every time I have gone into this store with a shopping list, they are out of something on it. Last week, they were out of bread. Not just my brand and not just temporarily, but nearly all bread and I was told they were getting their shipment the following day. Stores use a few ways of remaining competitive with pricing. Basically, membership cards, revolving in-store discounts or weekly ads with coupons. Raley's fails at this. Using ShopSaavy and online databases, I compare pricing on all items I buy. Raley's has yet to beat Safeway or Target or Walmart. They DID have a good deal on 24-packs of Coke products last month, however they were, you guessed it, out of stock. Sure, they had nearly every aisle end piled high with 12-packs, but the advertised discount on the 24-pack was nowhere to be found. LOCATION/HOURS: They're open late enough, open on holidays, are nearby, have ample parking. They might not have what you're looking for or it might be overpriced, but they're open! CLIENTELE: If you don't enjoy undereducated, intellectually retarded, self-righteous, psuedo-rich, trophy wives with an unearned sense of entitlement, DON"T shop here.
