This store has a lot of fun items that I cannot find at the local grocery stores near my neighborhood. I just happen to be visiting the area and stopped in to buy a few necessities. Everything in the produce area and bakery and meat department are so beautifully arranged. I was amazed to see things as exotic as starfruit, dragon, fruit, And a very wide variety of gourds. Most of all of the shelves were stocked well and neatly. I noticed that all the products in the dairy were especially faced properly. It was easy to navigate the store and very nice to be able to shop any warm, clean, and inviting store. The cashier that helped me was not the warmest, but she wasn't terrible either. Maybe because it was nearing the end of the day she was exhausted.

Woah. New Raley's is fancy. They've got a cookie buffet, for your dog! I don't know what is in any of those cookies but I do know they're fancy looking. New Raley's has a sushi bar?! New Raley's might be more expensive but I can't tell because I'm blinded by the glistening produce? New Raley's has it all, labneh, dragon fruit, franzia, and what appear to be a whole new section dedicated to fresh made snackies. New Raley's does not have the comforting 70s vibe of old Raley's and is certainly not cheap. But at least new Raley's aesthetic now matches old Raley's prices. I like new Raley's new self check out situation. I accidentally spilled water all over myself and the ground in the self check out line and the very nice young checkout watcher cleaned up my spill. That was kind. Most importantly, new Raley's still has bucatini.

I was up in the NW Reno Keystone area, and I heard this Raley's had just reopened after like 6 mo of remodeling. My Raley's in Carson sure could use a remodel! The store was really hoppin' and parking was tight in the lot. The store looks like a brand new shiney store with nce organized asiles. What I really wanted to see was the meat and deli department as well as the hot food section. Looking at the meats, yes, they do offer prime grade beef here, but wow, those prices you're sure gonna pay. It's like Whole Food prices. $28 per lb for Prime Grade Rib Eye and they didn't really look that prime with the marbling they had. I guess it's just prices these days! The salmon was a little more reasonable at less than $10/ lb. THe ready made foods were Chinese offerings, but the prices were sit down restaurant prices for entrees of like sweet and sour pork and general's chicken, $12 an order, same as in Carson. One thing that struck me as odd, was the this location is lacking a Pharmacy! I love my Raley's pharmacy in Carson, but this brand new store has none! It's like a Costco without a gas station! (there are a few). Well, at least the locals around here have their grocery store back!

    Deceptive pricing.

I think this is the best Raley's in the area. Nice people, great produce, and now carrying Applegate lunch meats. Thank you.

I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

I found myself out and about with just my son and and we both thought a char grilled kebab sounded like a fun dinner experiment. We popped in and found who were guessing is the owner's child at the register and placed our order for their signature kebab made from ground chicken and Afghani spices. The plate came with sumac spiked basmati rice, two pieces of the chicken kebab and a small green salad plus a green hot sauce. The kebab was tender and juicy with a great flavor profile and a nice bit of charcoal flavor. We thought the rice was actually exceptional light and fluffy with a hint of that citrus sea tang from the sumac, in a buttery finish, made this a nice light side to the kebab. The salad was fresh and crunchy with cucumber, lettuce, and bell peppers and that green hot sauce was really great and we used it as a dressing because the salad did not come with one. For $16 I just felt like the value was a bit often the plate needed at least one more piece of the kebab because when finished with a small tiny salad and the kebab, we were left with a mountain of rice and that is south wasteful. I just wish the plates here were a bit more valued oriented and I guess it will take more people eating here to kind of drive that up. Highly recommend giving it a try plus the market has some really fun fines too. Share your review and let me know what you think.
