There is plenty of free parking. Once you get to the end of the road there's a roundabout at the top (where the beginning of the trail is). This hike is pretty intense. It starts out with a constant slight incline with some turns. It gets really tough when you see the antenna and think you're almost there because it gets steep and winding. There is wildlife so be cautious. A very good hike that will definitely kick your butt. I'll be back.

Did the Vital Link Trail and going mostly uphill was tiring. Expect this to be challenging if you don't hike much. You need to wear good shoes so you don't slip. Some of the path is eroded and there's a lot of exposed rock and branches. The stream path is flatter so that's the easier option. I've seen hummingbirds in this area and heard woodpeckers. On the way near the start of the trail there are plenty of benches, parking, and restrooms. The signs say they close at sunset.

This area is open and accessible as of 5/20/20. Not to be confused with Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks (as one reviewer did). DIRECTIONS: Plugging "Wildwood Canyon Trailhead" into my GPS got me here without any issues. It's located right across from the DeBell golf course so you can always use that. Parking was easy as there were ample spots on the street as well as some delineated parking if you drive a bit further. The main hiking trail is Wildwood Canyon Trail and it begins past the picnic table, close to the entrance. I would rate it as moderate. This trail definitely has some steep climbing involved but it's not particularly brutal. It will drop you off at the end of the road where you parked. You can go back the way you came or if you're beat, just walk along the road back to your car. If you're in good physical shape, I recommend the Vital Link Trail. You have to take the Wildwood Canyon Trail to get to Vital Link and will eventually see the sign for Vital Link on your left. That's where the real struggle begins. It's all uphill with occasional stairs and not much shade. Pretty rough. The views are gorgeous though and if you reach the top, there's a comfortable chair waiting for you. I thought the Wildwood Canyon Trail could have been better marked. There are a couple off-shoots that lead back to the road and upon my return, I ended up going back to my car the "easy way" which I didn't want to do. You won't get lost or anything but clarity is always appreciated. FYI: The AllTrails app is very helpful for trail mapping. TIPS: -Sunblock and water as there isn't much shade. Lots of water for Vital Link. -A trekking pole can be useful as coming down was slippery (sandy) in parts.

We are always surprised on how many trails our in and around LA County. The C19 pandemic has us going out more often than before and we are out seeking new trails like this one today. We were surprised that on a Sunday there's plenty of free parking and most of it under the canopy of trees. The short but steep trail starts on the left side once you enter the gated and sign area. The climb is steep and I recommend hiking shoes with grip as some of the areas have loose dirt and is slippery. Bring extra water to share with the planted little trees that were added next to the picnic tables around the one mile marker.

My friend and I went hiking here recently. The trail itself is very steep and a pretty sharp incline and then levels out the closer you get to the top. Definitely wear hiking shoes if you have them as the dirt was really loose and easy to slide on! There's lots of different paths you can take to the top as well and the park is dog friendly! Be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat as there's no shade.

This was a nice trail. Plenty of parking and actually various sections to park....looked like you could access the trail from 3 entrances and hike steeper parts or hike down instead of up. I parked at the very bottom and hiked up. It sure was steep! Coming down with some gravel and due to the steepness I would recommend hiking shoes or at least shoes with good traction. There are little paths off the trail. On the way down took one path and it led to the paved road where there was a parking lot hence knowing they have various entrances. It has a great view of the city. There were other hikers on the trail but compared to other trails I wouldn't consider it crowded so I felt safe COVID-safety wise.

The total hike was about 2.5 miles and around 50 flights high. The views were really good. But the hike was really too short. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there were plenty of parking spots available. Watch out for tiny lizards, there are plenty of them. They are quite brave and doesn't run away. Don't accidentally stomp them.

If you want a challenge, then this is the hike for you. If you want a nice view, i would say this hike was eh. This hike definitely kicked my ass & I felt it the next morning. We were total noobs & started from the actual beginning where the entrance is (across from the golf course). It already starts at an incline so you know you're in it for a workout. I struggled so hard, it wasn't even funny. Although it was cold in LA that day, you do not need a long sleeve shirt or jacket. It gets real hot & there is absolutely NO shade so apply that sunscreen. You can actually feel the suns rays on your skin. 90% of the hike was straight incline. If you are a lazy butt like me, it wasn't fun. If you want a hike to enjoy, this is NOT it. After you reach the "top" which is a big circle dirt area with a bench, there is an option to go higher up (VITAL LINK TRAIL). If you are already exhausted, do NOT go. My friend said oh it's just another mile. It's a mile of STRAIGHT incline. I thought I was hiking Angels Landing (Zion hike) for a second there. I decided to give it a try since this was my first time doing this hike. I HATED it. Didn't even make it to the top which was basically the SAME view as the bottom portion. Unless you are trying to do an eye of the tiger bit, I would say stick to first part of the hike. And there are actually many entrances to get to the top which makes it easier & less time. When you actually get to the top of THIS hike, do not go down the same way you came up, follow the path of downhill & SHADED area. A lot cooler & faster. Overall, this was NOT an enjoyable hike. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it definitely was challenging & I can see how people would want to hike this for an intense workout.

This is a nice park that's not too popular, which is a plus because it's not extremely crowded with people. We had a great hike with many instances where we stopped to snap pictures of the view while we rested. The view is amazing, you can get many good photos overlooking the city of Burbank. There is a bit of an incline, but nothing too difficult. Most hikers should have no problem with the incline, I would recommend this hike for beginners hikers who want a bit more of a challenge. We didn't get to reach the end of the hike this time, but did make it half way before stopping by a bench to take pictures of the view. We decided to return back down the hike via an alternative route, which was off the beaten path. I'll definitely make time to return to this park to complete the hike!

Great hike but man, there is hardly any shade! We came here around 8:30 am on a Saturday and it wasn't super hot yet but got hotter and hotter as we progressed. Originally we were going to do the 3-4 miles trail but my friend had been to the top so we decided to do the Vital Link Trail instead. Overall this was a pretty steep trail, plus the heat made it more difficult than it normally would be. My friend brought her dog and he struggled a bit with the heat. Still, it was a great hike with a nice view at the top. I think the straight 3-4 mile trail wouldn't have been as good as there was no top/view to make you feel like you've really accomplished something. I would come back in cooler weather.

Great hike! This trail gives you a nice work out, I like it coz it's very close to the city.

Before I begin, hats off to every legend that has completed this trail, all the legends on the trail yesterday, and to the future upcoming legends to join us! Okay, So, I had completed Rocky Peak/Summit/Hummingbird trails and decided it was time for my last hike of the year. I figured this may be similar to Stough Canyon's trail and prepped for the soreness to come but no, no, no, no, this was nothing like that, this was a beast of its own... Just when I started to feel intermediate in my hike, this nature of a beast slapped me back to reality. This trail is HARD! It is HARD!!! Maybe it's because I am four months into hiking but I swear everyone felt this yesterday. To compensate, the views are gorgeous and there is an amazing sense of accomplishment when you get to the chair and radio tower. Speaking of radio tower, it is the exact same tower you reach from stough canyon so you can also hike up here from there. My crazy behind decided to hunt all the towers up there, they kept showing up and I just couldn't stop. I made it down to verdugo peak, breathtaking view! If you turn around and squint, there is a flag and chair on a mini mountain climb, not too steep but ehh, steep. I went there and again, there were two more towers... Thank heavens, they were the last of it. After feeling like I was resuscitated, I went back to the flag, sat, and thought about my life, as I gathered the non-existent strength to start the journey back down. Spoiler alert, I made it down a million years later and currently nursing the pain with the biggest smile on my face! Happy New Year in advance everyone!

Quick drive from downtown Burbank, nice place for a walk, hike, and golfing. Port-a-potty's only, but there is a bathroom when driving down from the park.

One served burgers, fries, nachos, and soda, and the other served popsicles. I was relieved they even had those because at first I thought there weren't any food trucks at all. When I first went into the park, I wasn't even sure where the festival was. I just followed the people in front of me. We all followed the sound of a live band playing. Once we found the band, we could see a row of tents opposite of them. The tents were mostly for sign ups to performing arts for both children and adults, that's why I thought there wasn't any food. Then I realized the 2 food trucks were parked on the road close to the row of tents. Even the number of portable restrooms available was small, only 3, but again, better than none at all. As far as festivals go, you get what you pay for and since this one was free from parking to entrance, don't expect much. It's still something to do and a good excuse to spend some time at the park with nice weather. As for the park itself, it's clean and a way to enjoy nature in the city. There are even plaques talking about the L.A. River and a bridge to go over the water. Just know that you'll hear the constant sound of cars because of the nearby freeway. Plus, it being Burbank, you can't help but be surrounded by the entertainment industry. The park itself is named after late night host Johnny Carson, you can see the ABC skyscraper over the treetops, and when you see the mountain with the radio tower on top, you know you're looking at the backside of the Hollywood sign.

The ceremony included reading each of their names out loud and placing a rose on the plaque that matched the war they died in. WWII had the most roses and deaths. There was also a live band, singers, and flybys by planes in formation. It was a very solemn and respectful ceremony to honor those who died on duty. After the ceremony, I stayed at the park for a bit longer laying a towel on the grass under a tree. I don't know if it was just the spot I picked, but even though it was really grassy, underneath it was really muddy, like when I finally got up my towel was soaked through and so was my back. Then I got lost trying to find where I parked because the park is bigger than it looks and has 3 parking lots. I thought there was only 1, so I didn't pay that much attention when I walked towards the ceremony. When I tried getting back to my car I honestly thought it might have been towed. This doesn't include the parking spots all around the perimeter of the park. The park is clean, has plenty of playgrounds for children, tables and benches to eat at, and a public restroom. It's not the quietest of parks, though, since there are so many children and it's next to a busy intersection, like during the ceremony a trash truck and a random car honked their horns in support of the ceremony.
