This place is very bad. The workers are rude. I went to self checkout and waited for worker because i was buying beer. One worker was sitting on the counter reading a magazine two other workers were talking. The worker sitting down asked me oh no one is helping you i said yes no one is helping me. She continues to read her magazine and said someone should come soon. The other worker a hispanic older guy just looked at me and ignored me. I finally just left my stuff on the counter . i have had this happen before with the same workers. Then there is the night crew who is very unprofessional they don't say excuse me but get out of their way. I am leaving California next week so i decided to write a review about how pathetic this place is. They NEVER have enough registers open. This morning the had Zero registers open and the self check out line was crazy. Then you have three employees standing around talking while one is holding bags to pass out. Instead of babysitting self checkout maybe opening another register would be more beneficial! read more

I never wrote a review for this place, so here it goes. We go shopping here from time to time. Hubby gets some free items here through his Ralph's membership card. You save a lot of money with the membership card. This location is clean and has many grocery items on sale. In the back of the store, they have a clearance item rack which is 60 to 70 percent off of the items in there. Just be careful and check for expiration dates. Some grocery stores do this. I have learned this lesson shopping at different grocery stores. We happened to walk by and the lady behind a counter offers us a free sample of sausage. It was delicious. Sometimes, they offer free samples of food items. It is not often that they offer samples but we were lucky to be here when the lady handed them out. Great place to grocery shop. There is plenty of parking in front. There are speed bumps as people drive fast. I almost got hit by a car backing up. Crazy! I ended up honking at this lady. Thank goodness she heard my horn! Just be careful of some crazy drivers here! read more

Their customized mail and digital coupons are great All you have to do it sign up through their app. I've also tried grocery pickup and the second time I was very satisfied with the service. Ok hear me out Ralph's is not a bargain store I come here at night on my way home from work at night because it the only store open near me after 11 the first time there was a hat looked like a lead of some sort with her back turned from self check literally staring at her phone on social media while people at self check are checking out I walked threw the door she gave me the ugliest look ever and said nothing to no greeting no smile just a look like she was saying f u with her eyes on the way out she didn't even glance over and said nothing as I walked out. It's like this every time I go here workers aren't around or there not paying attention I know it's late but it's not like it's their first day. Another lead on another night was literally nodding off standing up right next to the entrance he was in and out of it the whole time eyes closed and head slumped over. We are forced to pay at the self pay and when we ask for help, they just roll their eyes and say it has a sque. Curbside pickup is the worst I have experienced. The APP allows you to order too many items that they do not have. I followed their instructions to tell them I was driving to the location and then did the same after I arrived and parked in a designated space. Waited 15 minutes and the called both the pickup and store phone numbers twice, none of the calls were answered. An employee finally showed up and asked me if I was there for a pickup. Finally had a portion of my initial order about 10 minutes later. Sad, very sad. read more

This store is well stocked and has great selection as well as good sales and coupons. If the staff did not have worse customer service skills than Genghis Khan, this would be the go-to store for my elderly mother and I because the store is less than five minutes from her house. While a cashier is occasionally friendly, nine times out of ten the employees can be observed standing in groups of three or four gossiping while customers wait endlessly for customer service that never materializes. My mom is elderly and disabled with arthritis and instead of helping her, staff is routinely rude and condescending to her. I have experienced their horrible treatment as well. Ive been coming to this Ralphs for over 10 years, not the nearest grocery store to me but it's worth the drive... for the most part. This Ralphs is always stocked & clean, it's a smaller & quieter store compared to most others. The only reason i'm knocking off 1 star is for the cashiers, ive noticed it's always the older ladies at the cash register with no warmth to them at all. It's usually 3 that seem to always be there & boy do all 3 have a strong personality, not very welcoming either. However, all other employees are great, everyone but the cashiers. Not to mention when they scan your food, everything is flung around... gee thanks for the great food handling if you will. read more

This has been my grocery store since they opened and it is time to find another grocery store. Since they have implemented this new self-check out system customer service has been horrible. There are many employees standing around but nobody is doing anything. I went to the one cashier that was open and it took me 20 minutes to check out of a line that only had 3 people in it. There are more and more WIC customers and for some reason it takes the clerks a very long time to check them out. Over the years I have come to know the clerks and enjoyed the conversation I had with them while checking out. That has gone away. Customer service is way more important than being advanced with technology. read more

I can understand if customers get frustrated having to wait behind someone who has 4 or 5 separate transactions that need to be made, but for the cashier to roll her eyes is appalling. I hope this woman doesn't have kids. It'd be a shame to see how she treats them if she has no patience for women who needed a little extra help with feeding their babies. That's just what it was. Don't get it twisted, yo. This is my hotspot @ 1am! While other people are just leaving the bar and moving the party elsewhere, I'm hitting up the grocery store and getting myself a snacky-snack. Okay okay, it's not a hotspot. There's usually only one other customer 50% of the time I go there. The other 50%, I have the entire grocery store to myself and the stock guys who block up entire aisles with their boxes. It's okay, they don't want me there either. It's a love/hate thing. I swear that there's more savings here than other grocery stores. Of course, this could just be what I tell myself because it's just two lights away from my home, and I like the convenient distance. Oh well, it works for me. What the hell do I get shopping at 1am? Food. Sometimes I browse the 6 books they have in their tiny reading section. I've actually bought a hoodie here for 9.99$. I wear it all the time. I tend to buy random things when I get off work, because I'm not tired to go straight to sleep, and I get bored easily. Or, I buy booze. Whatever. Best: Open 24 hours. This place is not 24 hours anymore - more like 5am to midnight - so they don't get my desperation dollars. I'd rather wait for Fresh N Easy or Trader Joe's to open. The grocery bagger will be gossiping about their co-workers, customers, or supervisors while bagging your groceries. 5 for 10 means 5 for 10 & not $2/each - lame. I don't need 20 gallons of ice cream. Or even one for that matter. Bad example. Ralphs on Otay Lakes Rc in Chula Vista is so clean and tidy it may become my place to shop for groceries and produce. The fruits and vegetables looks really fresh. The cherries has two size bags, small and large. The staff told me they bagged their cherries that way so that people on the budget can opt to buying the smaller bag. What a concept! So I always come here and never had any problems with this store until now this very rude lady was arguing and giving attitude to an elderly woman which caught my attention because no one should be talking to an elder like the way she was, i got involved and found out the women was just asking the Ralph's bakery worker for a certain bread which they had and she was acting like she didn't know what she was talking about and started getting loud with her then I stepped in and told her the way she was speaking to her was not right I helped the woman and showed the worker that the bread was right in front of her face I caught the workers name "Pamela" and this woman needs to be taught not to talk to costumers like that when she was in the wrong she didn't even apologize to the elderly lady all she said was "oh I didn't know that was the one you were talking about" and I told her that she should use her brain and help her out instead of arguing and yelling at the old woman I don't even work there and I found out was she was talking about in the matter of seconds of me helping her. They are finally keeping this Ralph's clean! The store itself has a pretty good selection of food. I noticed an increase of Asian specific food which I appreciated. The food layout confused me initially when they remodeled sometime ago. I was disappointed with their seasonal merchandise area. It's Christmas season and they don't exactly have a selection. This store is usually crowded!! I personally can't stand being stuck trying to go up and down asiles when no one will move their damn cart out of the way. They just love to park it in the middle of the asile so no one can pass by. It just annoys the shit out of me, but this happens at other grocery stores too. So I can't complain too much. Typical grocery store. I stopped in to this one to buy some snacks and drinks. In my normal fashion, I thought that I would only get a 12 pk and chips. And ended up with an armload because I saw items on sale that I couldnt pass up. Once my arms were full, I decided that I better grab a basket or cart otherwise I would drop a trail of merchandise all over the floor. When I got to the front of the strore a clerk offered to go outaide to help get a cart for me. That alone earned this store an extra star. I always appreciate good customer service. I was not impressed with this Ralph's at all. First off I was not happy that I chose and drove to this particular grocery store because what I came in to buy was not offered at the store. Then to top that off I had to use the bathroom very badly, but was unable to. One of the employees came in at 10:04pm on 05/14/16 (right before I went in there) to check the bathroom for cleansing and must have just wrote initials down on the bathroom check sheet without actually checking the bathroom. This place is open 24 hours. Very convenient if you need something in the middle of the night that you can't find at 7-11. This branch is very clean and not very crowded. I loved their new self-check out counters so you can swish by when you're in a hurry or not worry about the cashier if you're buying something embarrassing. Having said that, all Ralphs are expensive! I guess you pay for the service. You can find the same things at Food4Less even at half the price. They have lotto ticket booths and dvd rentals here. read more

If I had written this review prior to 10/29/14 it would be filled with butterflies, rainbows, unicorns, and gumdrops! Well, lucky for you its obviously past that date and I have some info . I went to Ralphs because they usually have the best grape selection! I know that sounds weird, but whatever. Well I'm walk in around buying groceries and I stumble upon some POM POM pomegranate seeds on 'Manager Special'. I asked the associate in the produce dept. if anything was wrong with them...she said no so I picked 4 of the containers up and put them in the cart. Although they were all set to expire on 10/31/14 I figured I could eat them in no time. Okay, so shop, shop, check out, go home. So it's dinner time and I decide I'm not Nacho Night hungry so I would eat some Pomegranate seeds. I open the container and I'm instantly smacked in the face with a strong alcohol smell! I'm not a pomegranate expert but I had never had a pomegranate smell like that, so I Google it. Of course I find out that an alcohol smell is indeed a sign of spoiling. 4 containers ALL SPOiled! I love this Ralph's. They are so friendly. I am a bargain shopper, so I shop around. The service people are just amazing. They unload my cart sometimes. I never wait in line. I get super fast baggers putting my items away. If I forget anything, the bagger runs to retrieve it. I've never had my coupons turned down. Good deals on ad. Recommend for price and value. I dont wear a mask when i go into stores. But for the most part people tend to help me if i have questions. When i was in this ralphs. I was in the self checkout line with only m&ms and peanuts. And the register said wait for help. I asked for help from one of the employees and she would not approach me. And then i believe her manager/superior was behind her and i asked her for help. And she would not approach me either. They yelled "Where is your mask!?!" and "We wont help you!!" Totally caused a scene. All they need to do was scan their card and enter a number. Is that really too much to ask? Customer service was garbage. Avoid this place and just go to vons or rite aid. read more

How can you go wrong with your neighborhood market? I can't...the customer service has always been consistent, employees are helpful and nice. There are times I ask for a product and someone will just bring me to it, regardless of how far away it is in the store. I appreciate that I get that type of service. The products are fresh, one thing that is similar to other markets is that it can be expensive, so purchasing during sales is usually what I do. I'm not too excited about their selection of meats or seafood, I usually go to other markets for that but the convenience factor and service (and the Redbox) is why I usually come back. read more

Received horrible service from the Floral clerk employee Angelica. After waiting 5 minutes for her to finish a private conversation she asked if I wanted to pay. I was waiting directly behind the person she was talking to and I said yes I would like to pay for the orchid. She continued to talk to the other lady then proceeded to ring me up. I asked for a small box to place the orchid in for transport. She replied we don't have, clearly there were boxes all around the counter and on the floor. I am a frequent shopper of Floral Arrangements for my business so I know that small boxes are given or arrangements not to tip over. This would not have been a big deal about waiting for her to finish her conversation, but refusing to find a simple box so my orchid would not be damaged is poor service along with her attitude while ringing me up was unacceptable. read more

I come here a lot just because it's out of convenience and walking distance. Unfortunately, it is pricey and I do sometimes question the quality of the product. Even with your Ralph's card, you're better off going to Sprout's or Fresh & Easy -- if you're into buying locally grown, organic, and natural. Their locally grown and natural items are misleading and you have pay careful attention to them. Don't expect the greatest customer service, because most of them don't really care about their jobs and you can tell by their body language. read more

This review is only based on the deli only. So Here's my long story. Needed two trays of sandwiches for my preschoolers class party today Friday 2/2. Time slipped away from me this week and I kept thinking they had these premade trays out and available. My sons teacher had suggested Ralphs because another parent had brought some sandwich trays from Ralph's and the kids loved them, so of course I want to bring something the lil guys will enjoy. So Thursday night I call to get info and find out they're actually the kind you pre order. No biggie I called Miguel was very patient and helpful with me on the phone and assured me that I can place my order with him (6:00 pm Thursday was when I called) and there's enough time for it to be ready by 10:30 am the next day. So I'm feeling pretty thankful and he helped me shop through the options and made suggestions because I'm vegan and don't know what sandwiches little meat eating preschoolers prefer. So I really appreciated his assistants and patience's over the phone with me. I even asked him his name with intentions of doing this review. Ok Friday I leave work get to Ralph's at 10:40ish Alicia (Alisia?) was there and I asked her if my order was ready so she went to check and ask an older Hispanic man working in the deli too. He checks the clipboards I'm thinking oh heck no where's my sandwich trays he comes over with the clipboard and says is this my order? I said yes and then he says oh no I thought that said 212 like 2/12 and I said no that's 2/2. So my trays were not made. It was 10:50 and I needed to be in my Boys class at 11:30. So pause...if you're questioning why I gave them 5 stars when my order was clearly not ready. Here's why... I wish I had his name but I forgot to ask. So he says I can have it ready in 30 min I'm like no I need to be there in 30 min (and I still had to go home and get the cupcakes out the fridge) so I said can you make them now? In like 15 min? He paused...said yeah give me 15-20 min he apologized for the mess up on the date and tried explaining to me how he thought it was a 1 and I'm like ok no worries lets get them sandwiches out. So I go pay for my other items and come back see him and Alisia hustling to make my two trays. I hang in the deli for a bit pay for them with Alisia so when they're ready I can just go and she was also very apologetic and courteous. So I wait and wait and then he comes out with my trays and was like I'm so sorry again I said no worries, leave Ralph's 11:20. Made it my Boys class maybe couple min late. So why I decided to give them 5 stars because for me it's all about the customer service and that goes for even when crap doesn't go well...how is it handled? In this case he was probably thinking oh crap! But on the outside he was like I'm gon whip these sandwiches out for you...and he did. Alisia and the older Hispanic man hustled to get my order out, the kids and teachers loved them. They didn't rush and make them sloppy they still put quality in them and I appreciate that. I appreciate his hustle to send me on my way and feed my boys class. So thank you from start to finish from when I placed the order with Miguel to when I left with my two trays of sandwiches. Today I came to get cupcakes and i find cupcakes that look like a drunk person put icing on them. It's disgusting. The Ralphs on Polemar isnt any better. They are always lacking on veggies.
