I placed an order for a small 1/8 sheet red velvet cake on a Wednesday for my son's birthday which was on that coming Sunday and they said it was enough notice to have it made. I also mentioned that I had a picture that I wanted to scan onto the cake. I come in to bring the picture for the cake which was a photo of Batman and they couldn't use it for copyright reasons. So my son just picked a Batman design they had in their book. I get a call on that Sunday morning saying that there was a problem with red velvet cake so they had to improvise and use cupcakes for the cake and added the frosting. They didn't charge me because of their mistake but why did this issue come up the morning of the pickup? The lady that took the order was nice but I still don't understand why the last minute screw up?? My son still doesn't know about the cake now being just cupcakes covered with the cream cheese frosting. I think he's just happy about the Batman decorations. He's 8 yrs old. Is it just me or are the cashiers at Ralph's fkn rude?! They don't greet you, talk to you, hand you your groceries, say "Have a good day" "Did you find everything okay?", NOTHING!! Maybe because I've worked at Vons, I know how a customer is SUPPOSED to be treated!! Is it so hard to acknowledge your customer?? This isn't the first time this has happened to me before at this Ralph's. I used to shop at his store almost everyday as I work at the bakery across the parking lot. Things changed about three months ago.The supercool service deli guy(who was named Zach oddly enough), was pretty much the heart of that store if you ask me, was let go for some reason. He was the fastest slicer, always friendly, knew about everything in that place, deli or otherwise. Very knowledgable of what the store offered. I pretty much tolerated everyone else in the store seeing aside if them are kinda rude. I face the store several more chances after he was gone, but I now take my business to the Von's a little ways down the road. The inconvenience is worth it in my opinion. read more

Review for the BAKERY. The cakes here are really tasty, and because of the taste and affordability, we'll be getting our wedding cake here for our backyard wedding. Hilda has been very sweet and helpful as I've come several times to ask questions in order to decide whether we want the in-store cake or the wedding cake that is ordered from off-site. Today, she offered to order a cake from off-site for us to do a taste test to address my concern over whether it will be as tasty as the in-store cake. She also let me have a cake board for measuring purposes because I needed the dimensions and she didn't know them off-hand. I'm looking forward to working with her to have the perfect cake made. UPDATE: My wedding cake came out great! Hilda ROCKS! Great customer service with a smile! I ended up getting several cakes made at the store and putting them on multi-level stands. Even though they generally don't sell round cakes of a variety of sizes, Hilda baked rectangular ones and simply cut them down to the round sizes I needed. (No other store we went to would do it.) Got my wedding cakes for 100+ people for $75. Can't beat that. (FYI, we just got them covered in white chocolate, and hired a gum paste flower artist to make special flowers for the tops for a little extra money. Still much cheaper than a fancy bakery.) read more

Bakery: ordered a my little pony cake for my daughters 1st birthday. When we picked it up they gave us the cake and then handed us the bag of decorations to add ourselves.... I've never had to add my own decorations to a custom cake. Then the icing and bavarian cream center was thicker than the cake itself! It was not a good ratio and ended up too sweet. The frosting decoration looked like they just gave up on the back side. My daughter is having another party in a couple weeks but I will not be returning to this bakery. read more

Yummio for the sandwiches! I had the chicken pesto with basil leaves on foccacia bread and it was surprisingly good for a supermarket deli section. Kudos on "classing up" the menu. I've been coming to this store for about 5 years now and the staff rocks! Everyone is always so nice,friendly and helpful. They have a sushi chef and she's AMAZING. Im very picky when it comes to sushi but hers is always so fresh and at a reasonable price. It tastes better than some sushi spots I've been too!!! I go there for lunch couple days a week because they have a salad bar too! Try it out if you haven't! read more

Worst Ralphs i have ever been to!! The lines are always long! They do not bother to add cashiers when needed. Most cashiers are rude and SLOW!! They also push people to the self checkout! Lazy staff! The deli is really great at this Ralphs, probably the best grocery store deli in this city. The quality of their produce is excellent but the variety needs some work. This store is pretty conveniently located but the parking lot is a mess with the parallel parking down the middle. The sale prices are competitively priced except in the meat depart where Vons wins. The shopping carts are pretty dirty. They definitely need to be hosed down and sanitized as I have noticed dried trash in the bottom of some. read more

I can't say enough how amazing this deli is. I came in this evenning after work and the second I walked up the employee (kevin I believe, if I saw the nametag right) greeted me with a loud and friendly hello. He recommended specific kinds of salmon due to how it was raised and marinades. I've been to so many delis around and everytine I come here I get great service PLUS they season my meat and skin my fish. I would and have recommended this deli on multiple occasions. I have tried and tried to keep giving this pharmacy a chance but it needs a manager. Im sure with the right leadership it could preform more professionally. If a prescription requires a refill request from the doctor one is sent and then no follow up. Common sense would have the pharmacy technician check after 72 hours on which requests have not been responded to so that she may follow up or even goes as far as doing the customer a favor and contacting the doctors office. THIS IS NOT A BUSY PHARMACY , and it has a lot of employees working in there at all times. I have picked up the wrong prescription, and been lied to as to what is causing prescription hold ups. I was a technician for 9 years so I know when someone is making excuses. If a prescription has a denial from the insurance and it seem un-logical, the technician does not call the insurance to fix the problem, they wait for the customer to do it themselves.Many times I have been told the wrong information from the technician I am leaving prescriptions with, if they are unsure of the correct answer they need to double check.I have Lupus and spinal pain, I don't appreciate running around trying to get prescriptions rewritten because I was given the wrong information. I give this pharmacy a star for the fact that they smile at you while they are performing sub par customer service . read more

As a single mom that lives across the street with two lil boys as well as work nearby as well, i visit this Ralphs at least two to three times a week if not more than that, sometimes more than once in the same day. The staff is generally fairly friendly and i love the fact that they have self checkout however my one star review is based on the fact that i will not return to the store after a recent visit. My purchase was a $5 purchase on a foodstamp card in which the cashier had to type in the card due to my card being worn. Now mind you, this is food, not cash from a foodstamp card which has my name on it and you have to enter a PIN number to give payment. Can anyone answer why she asked for my ID? I proceeded to ask her why, and that this is new to me and i advised the cashier that this has never happened before anywhere, she told me this was protocol.. Well let me just say, this can be very very offensive as i was offended. especially when i shop at this location as much as i do. It was NOT a credit card and it was only a 5 dollar purchase! I walked out, then right back in and spoke to a manager and advised me this absolutely was NOT protocol, and that he would speak to this team member.. Because of this situation, i will not return again to Ralphs. I will drive out of my way to Vons instead. I believe that all team members new or old should know protocol and if they question it, they should ask a fellow team member because even after i questioned the gal, she didnt budge, she should have either asked or spoken to the manager which was on a lane as well. Situation could have been handled differently and the next person whom gets asked for identification for using a snap/foodstamp card while other guests are waiting in line may not be as nice as i was. read more

The Bakery: I ordered a two layered marbled cake w/ Bavarian cream and a buttercream assuming that it would be balanced due to it being 2 layers. Ummmm no it was all frosting and Bavarian, they took a single layer and cut that in half. I understand if it were a thick single layer but the bottom of the cake was damn near no existent not to mention they trimmed the outsides down so much that my cake was. It a legit half sheet. They tried to comp for it by slapping on excessive amounts of frosting and as far as the marbling . Also whoever decided to decorate the cake must've said screw it because the shells weren't shells and the whole back of the cake..... let's just say the person attempting to be a baker/ cake decorator needs some training. By the way who spells Happy with an "E" and not a "Y"?!?! They attempted to fix it by adding a stem. Like I said never again!!!!! Ummmm other than that the cookies and breads are ok read more
