This Ralph's is a FAIL. Mainly because of the shopping center it's in. It's ghetto and dirty, there are ALWAYS solicitors in the parking lot or at the door and I don't like that, I've even bad reviewed the ghetto CVS in this center. There are 1 or 2 decent cashiers there who get an A for customer service. But the thing that inspired me to Yelp was something I witnessed at self check out today. The attendant was SO rude. At the end of your purchase, the self checkout register prompts you to BUY bags because they're no longer supplying the free plastic ones. But they're not at the check stands. So when the guys ahead of me finished and needed their bags, and the attendant wasn't there, the customer went over and found some bags. He was attempting to separate them when the attendant showed up and rudely snatched them from the customer's hand and accused him of stealing them!! Seriously?!?!? The customer was immediately embarrassed and a little pissed off but he was a nice guy so he went back over to his friend who encouraged him to say something. That was the WAY WRONG way to handle that situation. No one deserves to be treated like that as a customer. The attendant didn't even apologize when the customer asked him to speak to a manager because of his rude behavior. Instead he continued to accuse the man of just "taking whatever he wanted" (Side note: when I was ready to get bags for my purchase, that attendant was again MIA.) BTW, I love the Ralph's on sepulveda and Mariposa over in el segundo. Every time I go in there the staff is polite, friendly, smiling, and offering to help me. read more

How come only in the hood do you get the sour disposition of a clearly miserable person that ended up where they are. Bad attitudes abound in this store. The manager is pure garbage. No people skills. A big mouth clown. Not helpful and unfriendly and unpleasant. The store is clean but Never enough open registers .. Pan handelers outside posted. Pissy entrance. my go-to market near work. Often times, buying pastries and treats from their baked goods section. Also, love that they have a donut shop inside! Cash only at the donut shop. The self-checkout portion of the market is efficient and easy. Staff on standby to help you out. read more

I only come here a few times, when I'm in a rush or don't feel like driving. They really don't have a large selection of meats and the costumer service is just alright. They need security on the parking lot because there's really ghetto ppl out there. read more

My boyfriend was accused of stealing tonight after coming from a long hard day AT HIS JOB. He was at the self checkout line and forgot to scan an item. This was the Ralph's I grew up with, but occasionally visit when I'm in the area and need to buy groceries on the way home. It's an old location, so it's a bit dingy- especially the floors and ceilings, but the food's good. There's also a donut shop on the premises, which many people seem to appreciate. However, the big draw here for me is the fried chicken at the hot food deli. It's unlike any fried chicken at any other Ralph's. I've checked - the chicken here is truly unique. This is one of the nastiest grocery stores in the area far as Ralphs stores.the bathroom looks like a Rest Haven for homeless people it is absolutely filthy. The workers are very friendly kind and considerate there's a security guard at the front of the store and lots of homeless people I think this location should be closed down I understand they sell a lot of expired food but I only went for a few items that were not meat. read more

I came here simply to buy Gatorade since they usually have the best deal on it. And a pack of the 20 ounce Gatorade cost $5.99 with a Ralph's club card membership- that's a great value! I noticed how clean each isle was and how the employees were asking people if they needed help of any kind while they were there. It's rare to see employees at a grocery store solicit help from their customers. That's very unique and caught my attention. I also plan to go to target to purchase some items, but When I realized how helpful the employees were and how extremely clean and neat the store was I figured I might as well buy other goods that I needed also. First I went to check on toothpaste and again I found the toothpaste collection to be very clean, neat, and maintained. They also had a special where if I purchased a specific brand and type I could get by 2 get 1 free (thanks Crest!) Next I went to get my normal vegetables and juice. All of the vegetables look fresh and prime for using. Having fresh vegetables is especially helpful since I had just left the $.99 only store and found vegetables with mold on them- yuck! I then checked on their juices and found that they sell the simply lemonade brand for $2.49 - wow what a steal. Target only sells them that cheap during rear sales but this is the normal price at Ralph's with a Ralph's club card- awesome at the checkout aisle I had a card that was pretty filled with vegetables, juices, and Gatorade and one employee offered to take me on an open register to expedite my experience - incredible! All I can say is for a an extremely clean store with smiling and very helpful employees I don't know why anyone would want to shop anywhere else except for this Ralph's. I can't say this is going to be the experience at every Ralph's but I'm happy this is Ralph's id near my home because I am certain I will be a regular at this location! :) read more

Within the past week, the Hawthorne Ralphs location regressed backwards and reinstalled turnstile type barriers on either end of the store after not having them for many years. For a community that is trying to move upwards with Space X headquarters & having completely redone Hawthorne Blvd., this states Ralphs corporate believes this store is ghetto. No Ralphs anywhere in the area has these barriers not even their co-owned Food 4 Less location also in Hawthorne. They should be removed. read more

Second time here, I moved to Hawthorne from redondo beach and my preferred grocery store is ralphs. This ralphs, has homeless people hanging in the shopping center. Got approached by someone and was legitimately scared. This was before I even step food in the store. The produce selection is horrible, couldn't find more than 2 decent red potatoes. All three onions were sticky like something spilled on them. The place is a mess. I got to checkout and the cashier was friendly but I was confused why he didn't start bagging my groceries. I had my own bags and I put them on top. They were short handed because I could only spot one bagged. But the cashier didn't even start bagging my groceries. I had to start, when I asked if there was any help coming he said no, but he could help. So he told the guy behind me to wait a little so he can bag my items. I can't believe he was just going to let me bag them without saying anything. I go to Ralph's so I don't have to bag my own groceries. I also an used to friendly associates, a clean store and fresh produce. Huge disappointment. Looks like I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on. read more

I am really thinking I'm going to stop visiting this location to avoid being inconvenienced because it seems like I always have an issue with either the signs or expiration dates when it comes to this location. This would be a bummer especially since I work so close but there are other shopping alternatives with less hassle. Today's issue was that the sign read buy one get one free and the salad was marked down so the cashier said it didn't apply. My go to market, like forever 13years. Always well stocked never wait long in line, most times there's never a wait at all. Everything is easy to find, meats, snacks, produce, toiletries, ect, and did I mention (always well stocked), lol. I came to this Ralph's by accident. My normal Ralphs is at the Ladera Center. I didn't feel like being bothered with their traffic near La Cienega and Centinela so I drove down Hawthorne to find another grocery store. Here appears a Ralphs on 120th and Hawthorne. My first time ever in this Ralphs especially because I don't live on this side of town. I was totally in shock with all of the friendly people who work here. From the time I stepped in the store to the time I left I was greeted by many of the employees. All of them had smiles. the one that stood out the most was Roy, and his beautiful sense of humor which totally put a smile on my face as I was looking for sugar and couldn't find it. In addition to Roy, Jessica and the employee who bagged my items we're so full of happiness. In 40 years I have never seen such happy, polite, helpful people at any Ralphs not let alone a grocery store. I guess I just got used to everyone appearing as if they had a bad day. Maybe I should drive out of my way to shop at this Ralphs more often. I walked in there feeling like wow it's Friday and I am super tired but left with such a big smile on my face. I have been there customer for many years,never would have i thought that there security patroling there is no good. I went in there to shop no more than 30 mins when i came out my car was stolen in broad daylight in there parking structure. Not safe there to shop. read more

Lots of expired foods (a bag of chips I purchased was expired by nearly two months) and some of their produce is moldy or bruised (there are black spots on their corn almost every time I go there) but is being stocked anyways. read more

The staff here is pretty friendly. I haven't had any bad experience with this grocery store. Of course it's a 3 because it's walking distance but it's kind of in a ghetto place. You have people just chillen outside of the stores in this plaza. Just walking here you get guys staring at you as if you're a piece of meat that's on the market and they're a hungry pack of wolves. Laquanna was extremely helpful with locating a product for me today. I called the store and told her what I wanted. She physically searched the entire store looking for the product for me, really looked for like 10 minutes.... couldn't find it. Then she spoke with receiving that told her they did not carry this particular item. Still, not taking "NO" for an answer she asked me to hold and said she would look one more time and guess what, she found it! It was a new product in the wrong location. Very dated interior, poor wine selection, overpriced organic items.

I didn't feel like shopping all over. So i decided to shop locally. I got a basket and the basket wasn't rolling right, so I got another one and. I noticed a lady before me having the same problem with her baskets. The bagger lady looked right at me and could'nt say a good morning. I went to the produce area to pick up a few items in produce. I am sooo tired of trying to get items I want at all Ralphs in general. They NEVER have sale items. I even go at noon on sale days and they are "out." More like they never "HAD." They never have anything but the driest cut of pork chops at the Hawthorne location. Is it because of the lower income location, do you think we don't know quality cuts? What is it with this company? During Easter I had to go back in the meat department to pull out Farmer John Hams that they were "OUT" of. There were 6 people looking for them! So I schleped out 10 hams that afternoon. Unbelievable, well not really :/ so, a homeless young couple in front of this store are in a full blown dispute, and getting physical. I inform a cashier, she kinda shrugs it off, I see a manager with his "team" having a staff meeting, I apologize for interrupting but let them know what's going on so someone can go deal with the situation. I do my shopping, on my way out I see the couple still going at it, and NOT A SINGLE PERSON from Ralph's goes to even asses what was going on, not even the Ralph's "security guard" dignified her employment by going out there and askin then to take their lovers quarrel elsewhere. I love this Ralph's! They are really friendly and helpful at this location. Service is really fast and it's very convenient for me because it's right across the street. The lettuce and fruit is really great most of the time. And the sales items are always stocked. They always have what I need when I go to pick up dinner for the night. read more

The store was clean, well-stocked, and organized. The cashiers are nice too. I like coming here for their freebie Friday items that you can load onto your Ralph's card. The downside about this location is that it doesn't feel very safe, especially during the evening. Half of their parking lot lights are broken, the exterior is dirty and smelly, and homeless hang around. The store has two entrances but one of the entrances closes when the sun sets. Its better if i go to a different ralphs store. This place sucks big time. I cant find organic milk ..........wow what else can i say when i cant find the basic grocery necessity which is milk.
