I had a very disappointing experience with an employee named Tracy at the self-checkout area. I was checking out and trying to start a second transaction, but I was having trouble clearing the screen. Since I wasn't sure how to proceed, I asked Tracy for assistance. Instead of coming over to help, she stood several feet away and repeatedly yelled, "Remove your items from the register!" Because I am a customer, not an employee, I didn't immediately understand what she meant. There was nothing on the scanner, so I was confused. Rather than calmly explaining the issue or coming over to assist, she continued raising her voice and repeating the same instruction. The situation became embarrassing, as other customers could hear her. I finally asked her to stop yelling and please come help me. When she eventually came over, it became obvious that I simply didn't realize she was referring to the items I had already paid for that were sitting on the bagging area scale. Even after realizing I was confused and genuinely needed assistance, her attitude remained rude and dismissive. She walked away without offering any further help. As I was leaving, I told her that she hadn't been very helpful and that I simply needed assistance because I don't work there. Her response was a sarcastic smirk followed by a rude "Bye-bye." I found her behavior unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely inappropriate for someone assigned to assist customers at self-checkout. I felt as though I was being scolded for doing something wrong when I was simply asking for help. Customer service should involve patience, courtesy, and a willingness to assist people who are unfamiliar with the self-checkout process. I hope management addresses this issue, as no customer should be made to feel embarrassed or treated this way when asking for help. read more

I like this Ralph's. It's located next to TJ Max and there's adequate parking. The aisles are wide and if you download their digital coupons, there's some pretty good deals. Their cosmetic items are located in a separate section and manned by a separate checker. The meat department employees are courteous and helpful. Haven't had any issues with this location, but be aware of sketchy individuals in the parking lot sometimes. read more

Rachael D was our (my husband and mine) cashier today. As I was bagging our groceries, Rachael D told me "there's a switch on your side to bring down the groceries" meaning the switch moves the belt. It wasn't what she said, but how she said it. I'm not her "bagger". I do not work there. I was helping to bag my groceries to make the process easier for me. After she rang up our groceries, I heard her lecturing my husband as I was finishing bagging. I looked up and her attention was now on me asking if I understood. I said "no I don't because I do not know what is going on". She started explaining something and asked if I understood. Again, I told her no and I asked what she was talking about. She replied in an upset tone "if you would just stop talking, I'll finish answering the question." The customers behind us were looking at her confused. I replied "your answer will do no good because I didn't hear the beginning of the conversation you and my husband started. I don't know what the question was in the first place." She was explaining that a particular coupon for $20 off for purchasing $200 worth of groceries does not apply if other coupons bring the total down below the $200. She applied the $20 off coupon anyway. What she explained didn't make sense. I don't feel that other coupons should matter because the total we spent in groceries was well over $200. If she intended to take the coupon anyway, her lecture and rudeness was absolutely unnecessary. We will avoid this cashier from now on. Maybe Rachael D was having a bad day. I don't know. I just don't think grocery shopping should be this stressful. All the other cashiers have been friendly and courteous. The employees in Produce, Meat, Deli, and Housewares have been helpful as well. We love Theresa (manager). Theresa is knowledgeable. She always has a smile on her face. She greets us whenever we see her and asking how we are doing. read more

I've been to this Ralph's multiple times, and all those stops were pretty much uneventful. But I think it's only fair I finally write a review. I came through to pick up a few essentials and since none of them were alcohol based, I opted to use the self checkout machines. And this is where that cool thing popped: by simply plugging in my phone number, there were additional discounts on some of the things I got. Surprise!!!! I guess I accumulated enough points! Bagger had no regard for weight of bags, these are paper bags even after telling her several times to separate the alcohol out a as to not put over $100 worth in each bag, she kept doing it. What happened to customer service. I was looking for hot honey in the humongous store. I didn't know where to start. There was an employee working on the snack aisle restocking whatever it was. I made the fatal error of asking her where the hot honey was? She gave me a look like I was bothering her and answered while she turned around. I've shopped this store for years. the produce section is the freshest & cleanest in the area. I'd say Ralphs meat dept. is 2nd best in the area. 1st place would go to Jons grocery @ 190th & Anza, the worst goes to Vonz @ Prospect & Buryl. I buy all my produce from Ralph's, all my meats from Jon's, and everything else I get a Walmart. Ralphs has become the most expensive grocery in town. I guess that's to pay for the new flooring installed. welp, there it is I hope this helps someone save a few bucks. Also, always check the Expiration dates, no matter how hard they are to find. they make expiration dates difficult to read on purpose. read more

I'm not sure navigating this post covid world is scary or hilarious. The store looks terrific, shelves are stocked, but service is kind of...pathetic. Checkstands are rarely 100% open unless you enjoy self checkout (they prefer you do). They're convenient, but I can't stand them when I have a cart full of groceries, I should get a discount for scanning and bagging my own haul. Visited the bakery the other day - needed a simple round cake, no personalization, no fancy colors or specifics, just a plain round white cake with lemon filling and whipped frosting. I would have opted to order it online, but lemon filling wasn't offered, so there's that. I couldn't get anyone to help me at the bakery counter so I headed to the front of the store for the service desk...and of course I was directed back to the bakery so I had to explain no one would help me because the two deli employees couldn't or weren't capable of filling out the cake order form. I could have easily completed the form myself - it took a whole 3 minutes, including the time to walk back to the bakery, then back to the checkstand to pay. And that's my beef: what happened to service? Why can't any member of the staff help with a cake order? Why can't I order it online? What happened to checkers? Why must we default to self-service? And gosh darn it, bring back bags for goodness sake. Thanks to the covid zombie apocalypse, there isn't less trash on the streets because bags were outlawed. There, I feel better getting all that off my chest. I just wish real service, plastic bags, and full service checkstands would come back. read more

In the last two nights that I have come in here I have been checked out by the rudest cashier I've ever encountered in my life. This is a good Krogers. Ample parking and clean facility. When you go on sale their boxed Franzia chardonnay is only $14.99. I like their boarshead deli section a lot, especially the imported swiss cheese thick cut. If you buy fish at the deli they fry it for you complementary. read more

When I first moved here a few months ago, I kept being disappointed by the supermarkets - they were all so small compared to back home. I just figured it was something to do with the denseness of the area and not being able to fit (I had been going to the Vons on Pier and the Ralphs in Torrance at Plaza Mayor). But then, my husband stopped at this Ralphs on the way home from work one day and the heavens parted. Ok, a little overdramatic, but I was so excited there WAS a full sized supermarket where all my dreams can come true. If it wasn't clear, I love supermarkets. Ok, I hate when other people are also shopping (which is common) but I mean, it's the store where FOOD comes from. A store full of snacks if you will. I want it all. So long story short, this is now my favorite local supermarket and my weekly (ok, every 3 days) go-to spot. Large store, clean and spacious. Decent produce, items are generally in stock, staff has generally been friendly (had a super friendly cashier and bagger yesterday). I still don't quite get why the razor/feminine care/etc aisle is blocked off at one end but whatever. Not an aisle I go down every time anyway. Groceries, ahoy! read more

I had to change my grocery shopping day to Tuesday. I know the manager and most of the check-out persons. I have had the check out person Marisol; on the self out assisting me (machine error). This was the first time at her checkout line. I tried to go to Sam's checkout but, I decided to stay. That was a big mistake. Instead of a warm greeting, she said something about a something ....???? I think she thought I was a person who picks up groceries and delivers to customers. I said, "I don't understand the question". She then asked if I had a Ralphs club card. I told her yes. She proceeded to ring up my groceries. There was NO SMILE, NO GREETING, NOTHING. As I walked down to put my club telephone number for my discount, Laura, the bag lady said hello. As Laura and Marisol continued bagging my groceries, there was silence. I was expecting her to tell me the total, she didn't. When the bagging was done she looked at me as if she was waiting for something. She says, "What does it say". She was referring to the payment machine. I told her it doesn't say anything. Shall I put my phone number in again. She said "No, no,no waving her hand. She said its waiting for a payment. At this point, she still has NOT told me the total. She reluctantly tells me total. I pay. She gives me the receipt and says thank you for shopping at Ralphs; that's the only part she got right. As I began to talk away, she greets the next person with a "HELLO!". Also a big smile. Maybe because she knew the next customer or whatever, I will NEVER go to her line again. When she talked to me, it was unpleseant. There was no hello, welcome, nothing. She NEVER told me the price of my purchases. The market is neat. Ambiance is nice and clean; that's why I shop at this location, however, I think shopping on Tuesday, late in the afternoon is not the best choice. read more

Convenient and has most things anyone would be looking for at a grocery store. The fresh daily taco meats and seafood in the meat and seafoodnis nice when it is all set out aroumd 10am each day. Everytime I go there at night the bald guy that works self checkout is always rude , not only to me but to other customers as well. I've heard people ask him questions in a very polite manner and he is always condescending and rude. I've never heard him be nice to anyone. He shouldn't work in a position that has him interacting with customers. I always try my best to avoid him because of the way he acts. He is by far one of the worst people I have ever interacted with in customer service. I've also seen him trying to flirt with girls , making them uncomfortable. He talks a lot and can't properly perform his job.The store should reevaluate him as he doesn't have the proper training that is required for dealing with customers one on one . read more

I have come to this Ralph's for many a year. The service is usually impeccable. Today not so. I was so insulted via the way the guy said to me that I could go to a register when I was at the self service was beyond my capacity. I controlled myself from spitting out 4 letter words and cursing the ground he walked on. There was so much noise so I had to speak up in order for him to hear me and yet he said I was screaming. So he kept at me and I tried to get a word in yet I couldn't. I shut up. Finished my self check up and left. Not only has that store lost a good customer but Ralph's has lost me.
