My wife and I brought our daughter here for lunch today, Sunday, at about 1:30. First off, it's downtown and yet they have a large, free parking lot, so I loved that. Second, and I doubt this is the case during football season, the place was not busy at all. The inside is dark wood, tables and booths. I liked the ambience, I kind of pub feel. However, it was a beautiful day, so we sat on the patio, and this was nice. Our young male server, and I apologize because I did not get his name, but he had dark hair and a beard, did an excellent job of taking care of us. My daughter and I had the Red Eye(?) IPA, which we both enjoyed. She had the shrimp bowl, my wife had the French dip, and I got the Pacific-something seafood melt. My daughter really liked her choice. My wife said that, while there was plenty of meat on her sandwich, she has had French dip sandwiches elsewhere with more flavor. Likewise, my crab, shrimp, and artichoke sandwich was not as flavorful as I would have liked, and mine was served kind of open-faced. When I put it together ingredients were falling out as I ate it. So, I was not that impressed with my choice. My wife and I liked the fries, hers the sweet potato, mine the regular. Crispy and well-seasoned. My sandwich was $22, and my wife and daughter's entrees were $19. With two beers and a soda, the bill came to over $100 including the tip. So, not inexpensive. I'm not sure we would drive from Star to this location again, based on the food and prices. read more

Used to come here all the time when I worked in Boise. Watched football and a few beers. After 15 years it's pretty much the same. Surprisingly bright for all the dark wood. The beers are pretty good but the food is, meh! One thing I can say is good are the nachos with blackened chicken. We ordered those and two beers. Their Clearwater Kolsch is excellent. The service was adequate but slow. I think they were under staffed or disorganized. Neither is good. read more

My wife and friends visited this place for lunch. It was surprisingly empty, which was somewhat disappointing to witness. We sat in the bar area, where our table was broken and wobbly. The waiter was courteous and efficient, quickly bringing water and menus. I ordered the turkey havarti sandwich with avocados, accompanied by a side of fries. It was delicious and genuinely satisfying. The only reason I rated this three stars was due to the service. I had to request a water refill twice, and each time I looked at the bar, the waiter was absorbed in his phone. This might explain the emptiness of the place. read more

Big, open bar area with plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sport. Slow for a Friday afternoon but no complaints. Service was quick and efficient. Wasn't that hungry so I chose an appetizer and whenever I see finger steaks on a menu, I have to give them a try. Breading was good and the cook/fry on them was perfect. Not too soft, not too hard. The portion of steak was also spot on. Came with a honey mustard type dipping sauce that wasn't bad but I'm more of a ranch guy. French fries were ho-hum. And last but not least.... The beer. I have to say, this is the 2nd time I stopped in here and both times I have had the same experience! Now, from the sign, all the TV's, all the decoration...the menu...this place looks like it wants to be a Sports Bar. Both times I have come in it has been to watch a play-off game and it hasn't been on ANY of the 20 TV's which is just bizarre! Now the first time we stayed and ordered dinner and asked the bartender to put the game on...last night I just walked out! Seriously, if you are slow perhaps a manager starts asking questions like, "dang, why is it so slow in my Sports Bar"...maybe I should open a sports App and see if there is a game tonight I could have on for people to come in and watch"? If your manager doesn't know the NBA finals are on, they should be on a TV or Two..why would I come there? From what I remember about the Menu and the food there is nothing that jumps out at me to say, yeah I would come here again! After walking in to watch the NBA finals game 5, a series tied at 2 games each...a game where I would have stayed and drank, and ordered food, something people do while watching a game...Instead I walked out and went to another spot and spent $60 on food and drink! I would recommend a new manager...might help with the menu too...but someone that has at least a vague idea of what Sports are on so people just might come in to watch! We came in for dinner, Destiny was our server. She was nice, but we didn't get any drink refills. My husband had to ask for a water eventually and she didn't catch on that everyone else had nothing to drink at this point. We were a party of six. The food was not great... we had a few salads and they didn't seem to really have any flavor. My son's chicken tenders were so fried they were inedible. The chili soup was so mashed it was inedible for the most part. Honestly, we were glad we order appetizers because those were the best part. I was tired of trying to find parking downtown, so ended up here where there is a private parking lot. As we walked in, I glanced at the reviews and noted that they were mediocre. I shrugged it off and figured I'd give it a try anyway. The service was a bit off-like they were going through the motions and not super into it. We were not checked on or drinks refilled during the meal. We were there on a Friday at 3:00, and it wasn't crowded at all. Both my wife and I felt like our food was just ok. The fries were pretty good, but the chicken fingers and french dip were both less than tasty. In fact, we only ate about half. The server asked if we wanted boxes, which we declined. We used to frequent The Ram years ago. It was a place with consistently good food at a decent price. I don't know what happened but it has fallen so far from those days. Poor food quality and very overpriced. Two of the three of us even got sick later that night. It seems that whoever is running this place really does not care at all about quality or customer satisfaction. I perused the online menu ahead of time as I'm on a somewhat restrictive diet. The wild Alaskan salmon with parmesan mashed potatoes looked delicious. A large filet, and actual mashed potatoes. What I got was a much smaller filet on a bed of potato purée. Potato purée is not at all mashed potatoes. It was also a small helping. That was fine because it had a bitterness to it that made it unpalatable. The salmon was tasty and had nice char broil marks on it. For $25.99 I expected a larger filet. I ordered a house side salad. It was not enjoyable. It was just iceberg lettuce, much of it rusty, in fact it seemed like a past-sell by package of the cheapest iceberg blend. No tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, croutons. Just rusty, flavorless iceberg mix. The ranch dressing didn't help. I took a few bites and left it alone. We ordered an appetizer of pretzels and beer cheese. The appetizer came out at the same time as the food. That's always so disappointing when this happens. Ugh. Well that was ok too, because the beer cheese sauce was hands down the worst we'd ever tasted. It went untouched after the second dip, as it had a very bitter flavor to it. Far more bitter than the most bitter beer I've ever tried. I don't know what was going on with that diabolical concoction. Totally inedible. It was $14.99 too, not cheap! The others in my party both ordered a chimichurri smash burger. I tried a bite of my daughter's burger and it wasn't charbroiled, it was BURNT. Completely black and again, like so many items they brought out, BITTER. The chimichurri sauce was in a light layer and flavorless. There wasn't much else going on between those buns besides the burnt patty, flavorless swipe of chimichurri and a slice of cheese. Total letdown and was $19.99. My dad also got it. His wasn't quite as burnt though. Later that night, they both had gastrointestinal distress. The fries were ok, the sweet potato fries were better. They really skimped with the sauce cups all around and it was inevitable from the get-go we'd have to ask for more. I received several emails that a free slice of cheesecake would come with my entree for Mother's Day. When I asked the waiter (who was actually a bartender), he was clueless but went to check and came back with a slice. The cheesecake was no doubt not homemade which is probably why it was one of the only decent things, besides the taste of my salmon and I'd say the sweet potato fries were good and I'm not a fan. Everything else was not just not good, it was plain bad. Service was good, especially considering our server was one of the bartenders. He said after the fact that he didn't like the beer cheese either. We might have liked to know beforehand just how awful it is but he did his best. We came at 4:30 and it was quite busy, but when we left at 5:30 it was empty. Go figure. Unfortunately this place does not deserve even two stars due to the blatant lack of quality and ridiculous prices for what you get. They also need to do more to not serve sickness-inducing food. My suggestion is don't go, let them go under or get new management that gives a damn because the current one clearly doesn't. read more

The server was excellent but the food was a no. The manager had to comp the entire meal. We paid for drinks so we could leave a tip. The pineapple margarita was watered down. It was during happy hour and a red flag should have been less than 10 ppl in attendance and they were all over 55. The appetizer was undercooked and came with the meal, when we asked for it to be redone it looked like it was put back in the fryer. It can back to our table totally burnt. The steak was burnt on the outside and pink on the inside. No flavor. The fries and vegetables were ice cold also no flavor. Not even salted. The burger and fries were over cooked and somehow still cold. The kracken platter - shrimp was over done and rubbery, the cod was mushy. Again all sides were cold and the fries were freezer burnt. The manager seemed not surprised that he had to comp the meal which was sad and in our way out we noticed they were hiring. Not sure if the food quality was impacted by an uncaring line cook, an unqualified line cook or a little bit of both. Overall we just went to Panda Express. Yeah - from the Ram to Panda Express. For a meal. I'm sure there are better options but we were tired, a little disillusioned by the experience and just wanted to get back to the hotel. read more

Great brew pub in the heart of Boise close to pretty much everything. Brandon was the best server, honest about what was good and had a suggestion for everything, attentive but not over bearing. Tried all the beer, thanks to Brandon. Went with the Amber and the Hefe. Both great. The amber was light but full flavored and the Hefe had hints of banana and clove (I know, not standard but dang good). The food was great. The beer cheese was great, but didn't have a real beer flavor. Amazing none the less. The chicken sandwich was fried perfectly and not the least bit greasy. A little spice but anyone would like it and the bun was toasted just right leaving the bread crispy and chewy. read more

Came into town for a meeting and decided to try the Ram R&B. I am a Rams fan what can I say. I had the tuna melt with sweet potato fries. The tuna melt was prepared on MABLED RYE!!! my favorite. The sandwich was delicious. It was toasted just right and is wasn't soggy. The fries were crisp and not greasy. My office mate had the Hamburger with Jalapeño peppers and bacon. He said it was delicious. It looked yummy and the stacked ingredients looked fresh. To me this is a 5 star place. Let me start by saying, we've eaten here many times, mostly in the summer, and enjoyed a nice patio next to the river. The inside of the restaurant is welcoming as well. As to our latest experience, we visited the Ram last night before the BSU men's basketball game. We were pleasantly informed by our friendly waiter that it was happy hour. We ordered martinis and requested bleu cheese stuffed olives. The waiter said he'd never heard of them but assured us that he'd try to get it done. The martinis arrived from the bar with no olives at all or any explanation. Apparently the bartender wasn't interested in fulfilling our request. There were also small chunks of ice floating on the surface. Our server quickly brought us some regular olives in a bowl. Our order of crispy cauliflower appeared on the table quickly and apparently cooked ahead as they were barely warm. Next we ordered happy hour burgers with cheese for our entrees. The burgers arrived haphazardly thrown together, lukewarm, and void of cheese and any seasoning that we could detect. At least there was a salt shaker on the table to help. This is not the same Ram experience we've had in the past, so needless to say, we were surprised and disappointed. There are many choices nearby for great happy hour food before the game, and we'll certainly seek those out before ever eating here again. read more

Management needs to buck up and subscribe to NFL Ticket and promote BSU game-related specials. This used to be a lively venue and it could be now. The food is ok but extremely overpriced for the quality. I definitely wouldn't recommend getting carry out. They obviously don't seem to care about your food if they know you'll pay for it before you get to see it, as seen by the burnt chicken they gave me (that was $15). Every time we come here, we have pretty low expectations and they can't even meet those. All in all: low quality food for high quality prices. Good luck. read more

I'm surprised to see all these negative reviews. I guess we got lucky. It has been a few years since I had been to the RAM. Good happy hour. 18oz beers were $3.75 and the happy hour apps were good. Full Curl Hazy IPA is a nice addition to their taplist. I ended up getting a growler of Hazy. Poke nachos were good for the happy hour pricing. Inside out: this place is easy to get in and out of with ample parking, the outside isn't fancy from the front but the back patio is a great place in the summer. The inside can be loud as it is a sports bar but the seating is set up well that I never feel stuck in the middle of a ton of people. The service: the service depends on the day, I would say it's a good chance you'll get great service and a slim chance you'll get bad, it does happen. My family and I come here all the time, we love it either way. The food: it's delicious, I've never had a bad meal here and so far neither has anyone I've brought here. It's not mind blowing but the big kahuna tuna and the impossible burger are my regular eats. I always get beer and I love that they have small servings available at reasonable prices. The beer changes out every once in a while and I really enjoy when they get stuff from woodland empire! It's a great place for happy hour and all around a solid choice with plenty of options for everyone at a fair price point. read more

Went here for dinner because it was close to highway to head back home. I first ordered a special mojito and calamari. Neither was very good. I actually sent the mojito back it was way too sweet. My Boyfriend didn't seem to mind the calamari since he ate it all. He didn't like his ahi tacos though. My chicken sandwich was good but nothing I'd go back for. This is a chain it's not pricey nor cheap. I would rather go support local businesses and will not return. read more

I've been to the Ram before so I new the food would be good. We got seated right away and was greeted shortly after. The menu has a lot of variety so it's a great place to go with a large group of people. It was also friendly to people who are lactose intolerant like me! I didn't feel limited while browsing the menu. The service after we ordered was poor. The food came to our table 30 mins after it was ordered and my order was wrong. It then took our waiter 20 mins to come and check up on us to make my order correct. Then, he made us pay for their mistake which doesn't make anyone happy.
