We planned a trip to Monterey and we chose this place. We got a clean room which was a plus. But the toilet in the room was very wobbly when you used it. Also the shower had pretty bad water pressure. The people behind the front desk were not very friendly other than the lady that checked us out on the last day. She was the only exception. The continental breakfast wasn't great, the food comes in bags and they just put it in hot water and then ready to serve. There are no bathrooms in the lobby so if you have small children that need to use the bathroom while they're eating, you have to go back to your room. That may not be a big deal for some people but for us with small children it is an inconvenience. read more

Long Story short, this motel provided us a decent no frills stay in Downtown Monterey for a reasonable price. Visually there wasn't much to see. The outside of the inn is maintained but it's very old school. Inside it's updated but the color choices aren't very bright or welcoming. Cleanliness was fine. I always wipe down hotels when we arrive, and everything was pretty client except the hardwood floors. But I didn't expect the floors to be that clean since housekeeping would be cleaning with their shoes on. Location it's very close to downtown. There were plenty of restaurants that we could walk to in 10 minutes There was a Trader Joe's as well. We were also close enough to walk to the free Trolley stop in about 15 minutes (with 2 slowish children.) The trolley takes you to Fisherman's Wharf, the aquarium, and places like that. The staff were very friendly, inviting, and welcoming. Sterling checked us in and he was super upbeat and informative. The free breakfast was just enough to get us going It was very simple, but it was a full breakfast. The highlights for us were the waffles, my son loved the yogurt machine. The bacon is super thin and the eggs were watery/probably powder eggs. Also there are some times when it gets pretty crowded in there. So plan accordingly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I kind of like the set up of the room with the bathroom and closer "around the corner." However the area for food is right next to the bathroom. So if you're prepping any food, you either need to do it at the bathroom sink or at the table across the room. A small table next to the fridge would've been nice. However it was nice to have the mini fridge and microwave. For the most part it was quiet. We requested an upstairs room on the end of the hotel and they gave us that. We were nervous to walk around because the floors are thin and we didn't want to bother the people under us. But I don't think they put anyone under us. I could see it being loud having people run/walk on the walk way. But thankfully most of the time it was quiet. If you have a large/wide car, it is a tight squeeze to park on the lower lot. We didn't have any problems, we have a 3 row suv. But anything bigger would be a tight squeeze to maneuver around. I wouldn't be totally opposed to staying here again, but if I had a little more money to spend, I'd prefer to stay somewhere a little nicer. But our stay was good and I have no complaints. read more

I'm glad I decided to book a night here because everything was great. I researched a lot of different hotels in Monterey and Carmel. But this Best Western won me over because 1. Free parking 2. Free breakfast and 3. Pool and jacuzzi for my children. We walked in and pleasantly greeted by Alan right away. Check in was a smooth process. Alan was great and explained everything we needed to know about the hotel. Tony was also very friendly and helped us with the coffee/hot chocolate machine when it ran out. We stayed in room 115 which was perfect because it was the first room just around the corner from the front desk. Next to the hot chocolate machine which my son was addicted to! Ice machine just a few feet away. The pool & jacuzzi was right outside the front doors. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were soft and I didn't wake up with a sore neck. The room was perfect for the 3 of us. There was coffee and fridge in our room. The shower head was very high and couldn't be adjusted. The water pressure was ok. Wasn't too loud during our stay, couldn't hear any neighbors. Breakfast was good. There was a lot of different choices. Pancake machine. Yogurt station (my favorite). Toast. Orange and apple juice. Eggs (kinda watery? No flavor?), hash brown (wish it was crispier) and bacon. Cereal, bananas and apples. A lot of seating inside and outside on the patio. I know we only stayed one night, but it was great. No complaints. It was walking distance to restaurants. Short drive to Carmel beach and fisherman's wharf. Upon check in, staff was great. Our room wasn't ready, as we go there early but we ended up exploring for a bit and ate dinner then headed back. When we came back, they greeted us with a smile and re-explained breakfast, wifi, pool/hot tub, etc. rules again. Parking was around the building and it wasn't very packed. We were able to find a spot each time. I loved how the elevators didn't make you pass through lobby. We could go straight to the floor of our room after parking. There is a bunch of cameras on the parking floors, if safety is a concern. The room was located on the 3rd floor and to our surprise we didn't really hear folks walking around. The room was HUGE with a bench, couch, and chair. It was fairly clean and not as dusty as other hotels. The bathroom was clean and the shower was a walk in which could use a little scrub by the drain area. Please note: our room did not have AC only a ceiling fan so that was new since I love keeping my hotel rooms cold. The room had a small step out area so we were able to get some breeze in the room and saw a rainbow! How fun! Our only suggestion is get to breakfast early! We walked in during peak hours and there was ZERO food left just yogurts. So wake up and get food!! read more

I love this hotel for both personal and business travel. It is in a great location where you can still walk to everything downtown or on the wharf and easy to leave in your car and drive in any direction needed. All of the hotel staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and the large slider doors to a normal or small balcony are my favorite. I love being able to open up the door and let fresh air in or enjoy my dinner on the balcony. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. During our stay at Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, we found not one, but TWO bed bugs on the bed. This is an extremely serious hygiene issue and completely unacceptable for any hotel, especially a branded property. We immediately reported it to the front desk, but instead of taking responsibility, the staff had a poor attitude and told us to contact the manager ourselves. There was no urgency, no apology, and no proper escalation. We then spent nearly TWO HOURS waiting for a resolution, only to be told that housekeeping would simply replace the bed sheets. This response was shocking and demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the seriousness of a bed bug issue. At that point, we no longer felt safe staying in the room and requested to check out. Even then, there was no meaningful assistance offered. We were left to find another hotel at the last minute, traveling with children, which made the situation even more stressful and frustrating. Although a refund was eventually provided, it does not make up for the time, stress, and inconvenience caused. The lack of professionalism, poor response, and disregard for guest safety were deeply disappointing. We strongly caution other travelers to think twice before staying here. This has been the nicest Best Western we have stayed in so far. We always have pretty good luck with cleanliness and price with BW, so we usually stay in them if they look pretty good. This was our first visit to Monterey for 4 nights. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our stay was. The positives: - The front desk staff were very nice and friendly. - They have easy underground parking with an elevator which has access to your floor. - Coffee espresso machine and regular coffee 24 hours a day. - Room was very clean. Separate sink from shower. - Nicely decorated. Plug ins on the lamps make for easy charging. - Great price for Monterey. - Great location for walking to downtown and the cathedral. - Decent breakfast. Better than others. A yogurt machine to make parfaits. A nice way to reduce plastic single use containers. - Very close walk to liquor store and convenience store. A little further to Trader Joe's. The cons: - No bathroom in lobby. I got sent to the basement which is the employee bathroom. Kinda scary and not very nice or clean. Why no lobby bathroom?!? - No air conditioning. Luckily we were able to open a balcony door to let cool air in. Be aware if you like to have full climate control. - Walls are very thin. It is very easy to hear neighbors talk and tv's. - The door to the room lets in a lot of light and noise. I wish there was a better way to make that tighter. These reviews are harsh. This place was great and we will definitely be staying again. For our family of 5, the rooms were spacious with two large beds, a sitting area with pull out couch, a three door closet, and ample floor space to stick a portable crib. They offered free breakfast (this is the only area I would even think to eliminate a partial star but free is free and I've PAID for worse meals in MONTEREY) and free parking. They had a hot tub our kids enjoyed and they cleaned our room each day of our stay. Coffee and tea were available in the lobby 24 hours. There was a fridge in our room and a microwave in the lobby by the tea. From what I read ahead of time, I was expecting a run down motel but this place was leagues above. It's 100% a hotel (ELEVATORS ARE IN THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING). Everyone we encountered was friendly and willing to help us. And its location couldn't be better... You are minutes from anything you'd want to do--the aquarium, fisherman's wharf, cannery row, nothing is more than a few minutes of driving. Highly recommend for families especially! read more

This location had many great things going for it and I would gladly stay here again if ever visit Monterey again. - Convenient location for hitting the aquarium/cannery area, as well as hopping on freeway to explore Carmel and on south. (fyi. Point Lobos State park was awesome) - Great value in the area. No real need to pay the high prices near cannery for a room you just come in to sleep in. - Spacious and clean room. The lot was open and airy and had direct elevator access to rooms. - Included breakfast was great! I was a snob and didn't think breakfast would be any good, so went out to eat at the famous breakfast place near the aquarium. The next day, kid was hungry early so went down to try the breakfast. Wow! Everything was fresh and delicous! sausage bacon hash brown the breads and the spreads were fantastic! sourdough slice toasted great and was excellent with the butter. bagel toasted with cream cheese was so good. Not sure where they get the breads and creameries, but I was especially delighted by the butter and cream cheese... coffee was plenty good too. there was a pancake machine, but I don't really eat pancakes. kid enjoyed it:) Definitely regretted paying for the pricey breakfast outside the first morning. I'm giving this location 2 stars only because the first staff member we interacted with was extremely kind, professional, and provided great customer service. Unfortunately, that positive experience was completely overshadowed by the unacceptable behavior of Jose at the front desk at checkout. Very disappointed with the customer service we received during our recent stay at Best Western. One of the staff members had informed us that they had run out of water bottles but told us to return later when they would have more available. When we came back, Jose--who was working at the front desk--flat out refused to provide any, even after we explained what we were told when checking in. His attitude was dismissive and unhelpful, especially considering we were simply asking for water for our family. Hospitality and basic courtesy were clearly lacking, and it left a very bad impression. Definitely not the level of service I expect from a hotel brand like Best Western. read more

My wife and I drove up the coast as an impromptu honeymoon. We had excursions during the day in Monterey so we picked a chain hotel for two nights this stop - minor luxury hotels and bnb's for other stops. Honestly for the price and basic needs/amenities, this ended up being our favorite stay. The rooms are basic. Not ultra modern, but at least very clean. In my experience, unless it's awful, rooms at chain hotels are all clean and have working appliances and hardware. Most my review concerns the staff. I didn't get the name of the team members who checked us in and out, but they're definitely not the typical neighborhood kid looking for a random summer job. They were friendly, precise, and concise with the info/policy formalities. Acknowledged guests waiting in line. Helpful and professional when we needed extra info etc. Self-awareness that there's no need to oversell a budget stay, but still enthusiastic about everyone's experience. Overall professional. Our superstar was Alan, the night shift attendant. Our first night we got back from dinner we wanted to save a trip to the store for some toiletry items. He knew off the top of his head what they would have but went digging thru their inventory for the more obscure stuff anyway. Basically brought everything related out and said take your pick. He chatted us up a couple sentences and when we mentioned our honeymoon he immediately started checking for complementary room upgrades. We were happy enough with the basic room (mainly because of the view) but he showed us the bigger room anyway in case it'd change our mind. We ran into him the next evening in the hallway and he even offered again since their fireplace suite opened up. We still declined to save him and us the trouble but man that's the above and beyond effort and organic chitchat that our higher brow stays just didn't offer. Alan deserves a raise. I love when the breakfast at chain hotels are pretty decent. Can't complain when it comes with the stay, but sometimes it's garbage. This location killed it with breakfast. They have a conveyor belt pancake machine that gives you two cakes with the push of a button. Sausage or bacon depending on the day and powdered eggs. Even the powdered eggs were good. A bread, bagel, donut area (1 or 2 of each). Idk where they get the sourdough but it was better than the loaves I get at Costco or TJ's. Yogurt and milk fridge. And toppings for your yogurt and pancakes like chocolate chips and granola. There was probably fruit and cereal but I'm not a cereal guy and don't remember. Apple juice, OJ and coffee. There's also a coffee dispenser available whenever the breakfast bar closes with decaf latte and cappuccino options. Oh and the dining staff are on it as far as cleaning and refilling food. I think one of their names is Maria but there are at least two people working during breakfast. TLDR - Overall amazing value for a chain hotel. I did a lot of research before booking a place for my family. I had a choice to possibly book at the Hilton, and other hotels. After extensive research, I found that the Best Western Plus was the "better" option & offered free parking, complementary breakfast, and had a pool and Jacuzzi. That was very important to me as we saved by eating breakfast there and the food did not disappoint. It's an all you can eat continental breakfast from 8 AM to 10 AM. There was coffee, hot chocolate, tea, eggs, sausage, bacon, mini omelettes, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, frozen yogurt station, with toppings, bananas, apples, a toast to toast, bagels, English muffins,donuts, muffins, milk,oj, apple juice, etc, if you bring mini champagne, you could make a nice mimosa. I appreciate that they offer almond milk, half and half, soy milk, regular milk in the mini fridge below the bagels. Every morning they switched it up, and we loved every single thing that we ate. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but it's perfect because our family don't eat much breakfast. Also, they have a mini barista on 1st floor lobby area that offers hot chocolate, coffee, espresso, latte, tea,etc. The beds were super comfortable with a pillow top mattress. The rooms and hotel are definitely outdated and original but it was a comfortable stay. The Jacuzzi was kind of small, and the pool was a little heated, but not too much. The shuttle was walking distance to the Monterey Bay aquarium. We decided to drive and parked for $20 all day. I would advise to leave earlier since it was crowded even on a Friday & there was a line to get in. We didn't previously make reservations or buy tickets in advanced because I had a gift card. aquarium is very expensive. One stuffed animal that was a size of my hand was $16. We brought our own snacks and drinks. I definitely recommend bringing food and drinks if you can to save money. Alcoholic drink there was that $15. It's like going to Disneyland so expect it to be expensive! Aquarium is definitely worth going. We have been to Sea World and we love both. You get to see the sea otters, dolphins, sea lions at the edge of the pier. So glad I got to experiences with my two kiddos and family. They had a blast. If you have children, I definitely recommend stopping by the Dennis the Menace playground park, which is about five minutes away from the hotel. Definitely get there early and spend about couple hours there. It is so much fun, the coolest park in California we have been to yet! As far as clam chowder, the best clam chowder that we found was at fisherman's wharf grotto & fog restaurant in SF. Lastly, when we arrived super late, the front man at the counter seemed very tired and cranky. It wasn't a hello or how are you or how was your drive? We did arrive around 1:30 am but a nice Welcome hello would be better in the future. The other Front Office staff members on the other days were much nicer. Front office person is the first person you see when walking through the lobby so a nicer personality would be better in the future for other people. The reason why I gave this hotel 4 stars and not 5 is because they don't offer room lock box safes in the room. If you want something put in the lockbox you have to go ask the front desk and they will store it for you in their safe box. When I asked them why they didn't offer, they answered because the hotel is old and outdated. Well, I still think they should offer a lockbox in the room. Also, yes the rooms had a weird odor.. almost like dirty, damp carpet smell like dirty dog. Maybe replacing the carpet would be a good choice to make room smell better. I could see how the wet towels could just sit there and create an odor. Other than that, we would return. We always have a good exp. @ "Best Western Plus" hotels. After traveling all day.....from Napa to Monterey..... & many stops in between.....we were so happy to find our home for the night.... BW was clean, comfy and pretty close to downtown Cannery row..... Beds were really comfortable.... Parking is plentiful.....This BW has its own parking structure..... No air conditioner though...... we opened our patio room door & it cooled down pretty fast... only problem, we couldn't leave it open for fresh air all night because of the noise from the traffic down below... Arrived around 4:30pm and checked into room 305 (on the top floor). Drove into both parking garage levels which did not have any lights on yet. They looked really creepy driving into this quiet dark space. We parked and walked to the elevator. It was creepy, and felt like a place where one might get mugged. I think the light fixtures were on a timer because they were turned on when we returned to the garage after 6pm to go pick up dinner. I think they need to adjust their timers for "summer" time (when there is more day light hours) and "winter" time (when it gets dark earlier). The room was clean and quite large. We got a 2-king bed suite, which was basically 2 regular rooms with an adjoining door. They do the same thing at nearby Best Western Victorian Inn (closer to Cannery Row). Only the main bedroom has a bathroom. The second bedroom does not have a bathroom. The main bedroom has a sliding door to a non-existent balcony. The second bedroom has a sliding door to a large balcony with a round table and 4 chairs. The solid sides of the balcony are quite high (maybe 4 feet high?), so you can't see anything while sitting out there. You would have to stand up to look over the top of the balcony to see some trees, a road below, and some nearby buildings. The beds were comfortable. I love how there were outlets on all the light fixtures (bedside table lamps, desk lamp, and floor lamp). Hunting down available power outlets hidden behind furniture is a thing of the past. There is heat in the room, but no air conditioning. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms for the warmer days; I don't think it ever goes over 80°F / 27°C. Temperatures can be adjusted separately since there is a separate thermostat in each bedroom. The heater is relatively quiet when it kicks in, unlike the mini refrigerator which hums periodically. There is a mini fridge in each bedroom. And each bedroom has its own coffee maker. The main bedroom had a Keurig. The second bedroom had a coffee machine that uses some other kind of coffee pod (I'm not sure what it is). Each bedroom had 6 coffees and 2 teas next to the coffee machine. Mini fridge in both rooms. And like most hotel fridges, they don't really get very cold. Room 305 is nicely situated at one end of the hotel. The hotel layout is a rectangle with the elevators at the center. After getting off the elevator, you can turn left or right. Room 305 is near the end after turning left. We discovered that this is a good distance from the noisy ice machine which is near the center/elevator area of the building. And my daughter said she could still hear the ice machine when we went to go fill up the ice bucket. I would hate to think how this sounds in the rooms right across from the ice machine! I love it when hotels have the bathroom sink separate from the toilet/shower area. The sink is nice and deep. It's also set back more (or rather, more counter edge in front of the sink) which can be difficult to use if you have little ones with you. Bring a folding step stool to help them reach. This room has a large walk-in shower (no tub) with very little space to place your shampoo & conditioner bottles. See photo, all you get is the soap dish on the wall. I love how there is a built-in night light on the bathroom light switches. Breakfast was pretty basic. I've had better, and I've also had worse. There's something hot (breakfast burrito one morning, breakfast sandwich another morning); always a meat option and a veggie option for these. Pancake machine. Bread. The kiddo was not happy that there were no muffins. Juice, coffee, tea, fruit (apples, bananas), yogurt. This is a good location near downtown Monterey. Easy walk to restaurants along Alvarado Street. Not far to walk to Fisherman's Wharf. A bit further to walk to Cannery Row / Monterey Bay Aquarium but it is absolutely doable (flat & paved). There's also a Pokemon Go gym by the lobby for those who play. The downside to this property is that the walls are very thin and you hear everything. You can even hear the doors bang shut by guests further down the hall. Another thing we noticed is that it would take a long time for hot water to come out of the sink/shower, but it eventually warms up. I've stayed here literally around 45 nights over the last year and a half. I first started visiting during the tight Covid shutdown while I was traveling (essential services). I arrived around 3 one afternoon and on the way to my room I saw the housekeeping staff at work in another room and was impressed with their thoroughness. The rooms are clean and straightforward, no high end luxury here but also above many typical Best Westerns. Everything you need, nothing you don't. I do enjoy the balcony/Juliette and fireplace when I get them. I love the seaside air but Monterey does get raw at times (thanks to the upwelling from the underwater canyon, Google it...) The location is great, plenty of breweries, restaurants, bars and the waterfront and wharves close by (5-15 minute walk). Recommended hotel from a very frequent traveler. read more

It's very basic, but clean, and in a good location; can easily walk to Cannery Row (7 min walk). Their parking garage is $17 per night. The room was spacious and had a comfy bed. We had a fireplace and small patio, which was somewhat shared/adjacent to our neighbor's patio so just a heads up that there isn't any privacy in that sense. The breakfast is currently grab n go, which consists of oatmeal, cereals, granola bars, yogurt, fruit, a jimmy dean breakfast biscuit sandwich, juice, pre-packaged muffins/coffee cake, etc. Though our room had a mini fridge and coffee maker, I was surprised there wasn't a microwave. In the bathroom/closet, there was a portable standing fan, iron and ironing board, hangers, and blow dryer. Mixed feelings on this one.... Pro: 1. Pet friendly with a $30 a night fee and a park only 1 block away 2. Easy and ample parking for $17 a night 3. Big comfortable room with high ceilings 4. Great fireplace in the room, easy to turn on and off, so so cozy 5. Great location to walk to cannery row and the aquarium, only 5 minutes drive to downtown Monterey Con: 1. No AC so the rooms can be stuffy but we opened the sliding door and it was perfect 2. No "view" from this hotel but you do have balconies 3. TV only had 6 channels which was bizarre 4. Breakfast buffet leaves a lot to be desired - but there's coffee and cereal and pastries so there is a little something Generally we found the hotel to be nice, spacious, quiet, and since it's pet friendly that's really what we were looking for. It is a little pricey but it seems everything in Monterey is so that's likely par for the course read more

Stayed over a holiday weekend to spend some time at the beach. I like how close the hotel is to downtown Monterey where there are lots of cool places to eat and look around. The hotel was very clean, in a safe area and the staff was very friendly. Only things that could be better: room was pretty basic could probably be updated a bit. And we could unfortunately hear the loud people next door and Bigfoot stomping around upstairs. So wish it was a bit quieter. read more

This hotel is in a great location if you are looking to be near everything but not pay the higher prices of the resorts nearby. Within walking distance to downtown, 5 minute drive to fisherman's wharf, and 10 minutes to Cannery Row. We came to Monterey on a whim to beat the heat in our hometown. While other neighboring hotels might look nicer, their pools/hot tubs were not functioning and if you've got kids you know how important a pool and hot tub might be! The pool and hot tub here were working which was a deciding factor. The room was spacious and the bed was fairly comfortable. The breakfast provided was probably one of the best breakfasts we've had at a chain hotel ever! They had something for everyone and fresh donuts from a local donut shop! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking was easy with a two level garage. My only issue was seeing a different room option available on booking.com and the hotel saying it was not. We had to improvise and put the kids on a rollaway bed. That was an extra fee which I suggested be taken off for the inconvenience and misleading availability, and unfortunately it was not considered. Although it was a bummer, the stay was last minute and we were ultimately glad we landed on this hotel. If we choose to do a weekend getaway in Monterey in the future, we will definitely pick this hotel to stay at! read more

I needed a quick place to stay because the Airbnb i was supposed to stay at was dirty. I made the reservation and got here within half an hour I was in a clean warm bed. Check out is at 11, they serve a yummy hot breakfast in the morning too with BW logo molded into the waffle. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Excellent customer service from the moment we walked in!!! The front desk always greeted us as we were coming and going throughout the whole stay. I was pleasantly surprised with how big our room was!!! 2 king size beds and a couch with a pullout. The bathroom sink area could have been bigger, but minor issue. My son was disappointed the pool wasn't working. He looks forward to that with everyone hotel, but the breakfast made up for it. They had a yogurt machine with various topping options. There was a machine to make pancakes. Eggs, sausage, oatmeal, potatoes, various pastries, cereal, and fruit. Everything was pretty good. I would say the cereal was NOT kid friendly. It was cheerios, Rice Krispies, and some sort of special K. The breakfast ladies did not seem friendly, but they did a good job keeping things stocked and cleaned. Also, due to Covid, they do not do daily room cleaning. You have to call if you want it done. However, The room was well stocked with towels and things. read more

This was our last hotel stop for our vacation and the hotel was really nice. One thing I totally appreciated that we didn't see or get at any other hotel was a sticker on our door that was sealed to show the room had been cleaned and not been in. When we walked in you could tell they cleaned everything and it was welcoming during traveling in the pandemic. There was a ceiling fan as there was no AC for this hotel probably because it's near the beach but it still got warm even with the slider open. We would have left it open at night but our slide net door was broken and wouldn't latch so we didn't feel safe sleeping with it open. All the amenities were lovely except the pool wasn't open. Breakfast was nice but limited options. Had an elevator to go to rooms and attached parking garage. read more

So I can be very picky when it comes to hotel rooms. Like I can admit a BW would like be on the bottom of list until my family stayed at this property! From the time of check in, the staff was so welcoming and inviting and once we reached our room. The room it self was clean and very spacious. Because our stay was for two days we were offered to have housekeeping to service the room..I thought that was awesome because neither the Embassy Suites or the Marriott offered that! read more

I have stayed in hotels of all types for years and this one is the best mid range hotel that I have ever stayed in hands down. It was centrally located, super clean, great beds, well appointed, roomy and the personal was extremely accommodating. I have a fun specialty sports car and when I asked if I could keep it right in front at night they said SURE. People will love it and there is stayed for all 4 nights. As far as I am concerned this is the only mid range hotel in Monterey for me. read more

Just completed an amazing trip to Monterey and this hotel did not disappoint. We were in the 2 room King (room #305) and it was perfect for our family! There was a "regular" hotel room with bathroom, king bed, love seat, chairs, etc and a completely separate king room with bed, dresser and TV, plus a balcony with table and chairs outside. The front desk staff were all very friendly and accommodating. They saw that we were driving a large SUV with a luggage container on top and gave us recommendations of where to park (on the property), since we would not fit in the garage. The breakfast was good. A bit crowded, but not the hotels fault by any means. My kids especially enjoyed the TV showing aquarium footage in the breakfast room. It really got them excited for the day to come! Next time we are in Monterey, we'll be staying here! read more

Hotel staff are friendly and problems are not their fault. I just don't understand how you can have a hotel with this type of drain in the shower, and stock all rooms with a non functional plug. I checked and this is the type of plug in all rooms. Why bother putting them in the rooms?? They told me to try to plug the drain with the shower mat... wth. Clearly those in charge do not care about their rooms fully functioning. read more
