The room was adequate. I kept wondering if I could of done better on the price elsewhere, but finally just stopped wondering. The next day I came back to the hotel about 6 PM. I walked in the room and it was obvious that I didn't receive any maid service. No clean sheets, no clean towels, etc. I walked into the office. I nicely asked the woman why I didn't get housekeeping. She got very irate, started to scream at me, point her finger at me, etc. She further told me that they only give maid service every 3 days at the most ...AND YOU PEOPLE" should know that. I told her that nobody told me, and there is no sign telling me. She told me that if I didn't like this that i could leave. I told her that I'd like to leave, but would like my money back that I had paid in advance for the 2nd night. She told me that the owner has to make that decision and he's away. I then said well I'm certainly not going to leave, but I would like some clean towels and some soap. She screamed that she'd send then to the room with the night maid. I never got them. Bottom line....pass this place bye.....if I could I'd give the "0" stars

Very quiet area, right off the main road so easy on and off. Everything seemed to be completely re-done inside. Fridge/freezer/microwave, table with chairs gave that homely feel. Beds were comfortable, just very squeaky every time you moved around. The lady who helped us check in was super nice and very responsive with any questions. The bad Booked a room for 2 queen beds, these were 100% not queens. I know they were super busy and booked through with the Nationals in town, so i didnt make a fuss The room stunk like old cigarettes, even though no smoking in the rooms The tub had a massive bubble in it from the wrongly done bath fitter, and i was told about it prior and they have been so busy that they couldnt get anyone out yet to have it fixed. Overall, a solid 2 night stay. I would be back if in town again

My house ran out of power and heat due to the BAD snowstorm and in the middle of the night I booked a room for 90$ with this motel, and they WEREN'T EVEN OPEN!!! My cellphone battery died and I was left stranded in the middle of a snowstorm AT 3AM!!!!!! Thankfully a stranger at a nearby gas station guided me towards a highway that would lead me to more hotels that were actually 24 hours. Later when Sussex Motel opened, I called and explained my situation to the representative. The woman I spoke to cancelled my reservation as we were on the phone and said I would get my refund within 10 business days. That was January 28th and it is now March 2nd. After 10 days I called for weeks, and they refused to answer the phone. When they finally answered I was told that I should have received it and that they will speak to their superior to see what happened. When I called again for an update, I was told that I would not be getting my money back and that there was some sort of mix up with my name which made absolutely no sense to me. I paid 90$ for a room I never even stayed in, for a motel that doesn't even stay open for 24hours. After telling me for more than a month I would get my refund they turned around and said that I wasn't and stole my money, claiming my refund went against cancellation policy. If that were true, then why was I told that I would be receiving a refund to begin with? DISGUSTING AND BEYOND UNPROFFESSIONAL. I reported this motel to the better business bureau, The Advertiser News North, and Sussex County Court for stealing my money and having misleading information online. My lawyer is reaching out to them as well and they aren't answering. I hope this review protects others from having a horrible experience with Sussex Motel.

Here's what I think could've been better: - it took several minutes for water to warm up. It's a good thing we weren't traveling in colder temps. - while the toilet is super efficient and the limited bathroom space is well designed and equipped, I so badly wished for more room in the shower. - a button or two on the AC machine appeared to be out of order, because despite high humidity and fluctuating warmth in the room, it was impossible to keep the air on. We saw a few state police officers knocking on the doors of some of the rooms as we pulled into the parking lot for check-in. We don't know what it was about but nothing catastrophic happened during our stay, and I hope it's not a sign of anything particular. Overall, I would recommend Cobmim to fellow travellers. I hope they keep improving and listening out for guest feedback.

I was so happy. the room was very clean, nice furniture, lamps dated but functional. Clean linen and bedsheets. The T. V. volume was not adjustable and the owner with family member came right over and fixed it. ALthough they do have and accent you can still understand them. Some people are quick to judge and these are good hard working people. Owner and wife clean rooms themselves and they do a hell of a job. my shower and shower stall was spic and span.
