Rainy days call for ramen , unless you're me...and craving protein + rice! Hours of pickleball had everyone very hungry! To match this atrocious weather, we agreed on trying Ramen 101 to warm us all up. It came highly recommended to my cousin, so we all agreed to try it! In theory, ramen sounded good in this rain, but I really did not want that. I was so happy to see they had BBQ plates as an option too! I opted for the Kalbi Short Ribs, which came with rice and steamed cabbage and broccoli! I also ordered the crab rangoons and spam musubi to share. The kalbi had great flavor and the meat was tender and did not have too much fat. I enjoyed the plate. The rangoon wonton wrappers were really thick and tough, which was not my fave. It also was mostly cream cheese, but they tasted okay. The musubi were decent too! Not sure I would order either appetizer again, but I did enjoy them. The ramen's were works of art. Although I did not try any, everyone liked theirs. I looked up this spot on Yelp and saw they have multiple locations, including a location in midtown. Immediately adding to my list to go to! Last time I was here, I loved the place, but I didn't write a review. I came back. The place is clean and bright, the people are extremely friendly, and they have a decent sized menu, that includes a lot more than just Ramen. I started with the grilled squid appetizer. It was amazing. The squid was not too chewy, and I don't know how they seasoned it, but it was delicious. The sauce on top was very savory. I especially liked the tentacles, the little "suckers" were actually crunchy. A total home run. Last time, I had their tonkatsu Ramen, which is my favorite Ramen. Their version is excellent. I was going to have it again, but this time I saw the seafood Ramen on the menu. Amazing! You choose your spice level. I chose the mild, and there was just a tiny bit of spice, just enough that I noticed that it was there . There was plenty of seafood, the shrimp were tender, and the scallops were buttery. The fish cake also had a good flavor. The noodles were the perfect texture, the veggies were good, and the broth was rich, but not overly so. It had a great savory flavor. I absolutely loved the egg. It was perfectly in the middle between hard boiled and soft boiled. My late mom would make what I liked to call "goopy eggs." , and this one brought back a wonderful memory. I had enough of the Ramen and enough of the squid left over for a full second meal. The portions were huge! For the portion size and the quality of the food, the price was extremely reasonable, and they also offer a military/veteran discount. I'll be back to try more things. Thank you. read more

I've been here twice, and I remember my first experience (2 years ago) was really good. I got the spicy black garlic ramen and chicken karaage and enjoyed them both. Finally got around to coming back and intended for dine in but it was getting busy as it was coming up on the lunch rush hour, so my friends and I decided on take out. I got the black garlic ramen to go. The ramen noodles were cooked well and the flavor of the soup was okay, not what I remembered it to be. The pork meat was not it for me this time around. It was overcooked and the flavor had a weird charred taste to it. I don't think having the ramen to go changed the taste or quality of anything (it also shouldn't). Upon entry, you can order at the self kiosk, or with the staff there. I wish they had a sign or let people know that they can self order with their kiosk because as people came in and the line was building, I think awareness of the self ordering option would ease the flow of things. read more

WOW. Literally my favorite ramen spot in Sac now. Small store, pretty spacious. Not your traditional restaurant. You order at the register and then seated. The servers are so helpful! Patty was the sweetest, she answered all of my questions. Especially because when I visited I had dietary restrictions. She was quick to recommend items I could have and how to make accommodations for me. Guys the Lychee Smoothie is a MUST TRY!!! It's so yummy! The flavor of lychee is so strong and the drink itself is so refreshing! More icy, juicy, rather than a thick creamy smoothie. I love it!! I get it every time!! Shout out to Patty for recommending it. Also BEWARE the portions are MASSIVE. You get more than your money's worth. If we had known prior, we would've shared instead of ordering 3 bowls of ramen. My man and I stopped by earlier today for lunch, we both had ramen, and it was absolutely delicious! There wasn't a line when we got there but it got pretty busy as it was around lunch time. The ambiance was great and lively, but it didn't have to wait for a table or long at all for our food. The woman upfront was very efficient, kind and friendly. Three Fridays in a row, I was denied at least a $100+ order as I rush over there from Sac airport flying back in from SoCal. 3 weeks ago, I walked in to order take out at 8:45pm, the girl said their kitchen was closed. Okay. I leave and go to Panda across the street. Whatever. 2 weeks ago, I go out my way and call while I am driving at 8:20 to place an order. I said I could arrive there from Sac airport before 9 to pick it up and they said no, it would be too late. Today, I call at 8:29 to place an order and would arrive by 9:51 to pick it up based on my Waze, again, she says the kitchen closes at 8:45. Huh? If I called at 8:29 to place an order, would the kitchen be cooking it before 8:45 and all I needed to do was cook walk in at 8:51, pay and leave? Compete ditz. I just hung up cause Im sick of calling this place while I drive as I make a huge effort to rush out the plane, into my car in the garage so I could try to make it there and give them my money. See my phone screenshot as proof of my call. Anyways, the hours says 9pm closing. I've attempted to accommodate this business before 9pm 3 Fridays in a row. Whoever the owner is of this place, I hope sees this review and fires the girl answering the phone as well as the kitchen that denies business well before 9pm. If I was the owner, I'd be super upset that this staff of mine has denied orders and left money off the table for the past 3 Fridays to me. We got (2)Black Garlic Ramen 1 mild and 1 medium to which they both were less than mild, Spam Musubi(2)-was falling apart extremely to much rice the seaweed couldn't hold it. It didn't stop me from eating tho and Unagi Rice was delicious. It was somewhat busy considering it was towards closing time, everyone was cleaning something you can smell once you enter. No greetings when you walk in however cashier did tell us what were popular dishes among customers when asked. I had the Tonkosu ramen mild level spice while she ordered the short ribs plate. Delicious Ramen! Pork was perfect! Tonkatsu is my go-to and this was great! The bowl was huge and I will be eating leftovers for dinner tonight. Lots of noodles, two egg halves, 2 tender slices of roasted pork which somehow had plenty of char yet melted in my mouth. They have an add on menu if you want even more toppings, but I was very satisfied with what was offered on the regular order: seaweed, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, fish cake slices, roast pork belly, and egg. I did add fried garlic and was pleasantly surprised by several whole cloves, not the crunchy chips I was expecting. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Other menu items included chicken Karagi, rangoons, lumpia, and more, plus a lot of interesting looking drinks. This was my first time and I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. The shop is small but nice, and the staff is friendly and efficient. You order up front, seat yourself, and they have a self-serve water station near the counter. I got the mild Tonkotsu Ramen (no bamboo). The broth had good flavor but wasn't very spicy at all. Noodles were well-cooked and bouncy. Not a fan of the raw bean sprouts, but they did add a nice crunch. The egg was a bit too cold and overboiled. I prefer it runnier. Very friendly service staff and a clean location. The prices are great and the food portion sizes are large. I found the chicken katsu to be flavorful, but just above average as the crust didn't have a lot of seasoning. It may sound a bit ambitious to do both Hawaiian BBQ and ramen, but this place knows how to do it. I got the black garlic ramen and they were very generous with the amount of garlic so my meal smelled divine. I originally wanted some Hawiian BBQ when I first saw this, but the ramen smelled so good I had to switch. If you want a combination, I recommend the chicken ramen. They use the Hawaiian BBQ chicken in the ramen, so you get amazing flavors from both. I went a bit safe on my choice with the garlic, but my friend made a great one with the chicken ramen. The broth is hot. The pork is delicious. It's flavorful. I personally don't like this kind of mushroom. But that's personal preference I like their crab rangoons. All in all it's good. First time here, but not the last time. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now (at least a year), so I went in with no expectations because I could easily make noodles at home lol. The cashier was helpful. I asked her a few questions to find out what people usually pick on the menu, so I chose one of the options she suggested. Glad I did because the Black Garlic Noodles were stupendous! Don't be mad at my word choices okay? Not only did I get those, but I also spiced it up to the max with the extra spicy sauce. It was very flavorful, spice level (for me) was a 7/10, but everything inside that big bowl was tasty! The pork was tender, the eggs were soaked with the garlic and spices, and the noodles were better than I expected them to be. Even though I know it's a garlic dish, I could do without the full cloves and would have preferred minced but that's just preference. It didn't take away from the meal itself in any way. They had a TV on that was showing videos of people making different types of food so I was grubbin and chillin big time! Nice relaxing atmosphere, clean, and really chill. They clean up right when a person is done eating which makes the place stay nice and kept up often. Give it a chance. This past week, I had the pleasure of eating at two Ramen spots, one in East Sac and the other in Rancho Cordova. On Saturday, my wifey and I were to Ramen 101. I've been wanting to check out a location or whenever we're in the Bay. And let me tell y'all, the desire was worth it! After glancing the menu, my Queen immediately selected the Pork Rib Ramen, while I chose the Chicken Ramen (Chicken Ramen is a rarity on Ramen shop menus, so it was an opportunity to try one). And man, it's the best Chicken Ramen I've had yet. The broth was superb and the meat was moist and seasoned very nicely. It's been the best Ramen I've had since my work trip to Palm Springs (now mind you, I had a Soboro Aburasoba at Kajiken in Elk Grove, so I won't count that delicious bowl). Meanwhile, my Queen thoroughly enjoyed her bowl, with the Asian style BBQ rib that easily fell off the bone and the creamy broth. We shared a couple of delicious spoonfuls each other's Ramen as we normally do, and I can say her Ramen was also magnificent! All in all, it was a wonderful lunch date, and I'm looking forward to my next visit when I'm in Rancho. This is the best Ramen spot in the RC, and I hope to visit their other locations as well!
