Chicken ramen and spicy tonkatsu ramen
    Isabela R.

Was not very flavorful, too many noodles couldn't even enjoy the broth, if it was actually good. Bean sprouts were raw and hard in the spicy ramen. Came out very quickly but not worth it at all

Ordered takeout. We were told it would be ready in 5 min! Headed over to pick it up. Clean on the inside. Ramen was so so. Lots and lots of noodles in the bowl. I ordered spicy and it was more on the medium side. Flavor for both bowls was on the bland side.

WOW. Literally my favorite ramen spot in Sac now. Small store, pretty spacious. Not your traditional restaurant. You order at the register and then seated. The servers are so helpful! Patty was the sweetest, she answered all of my questions. Especially because when I visited I had dietary restrictions. She was quick to recommend items I could have and how to make accommodations for me. Guys the Lychee Smoothie is a MUST TRY!!! It's so yummy! The flavor of lychee is so strong and the drink itself is so refreshing! More icy, juicy, rather than a thick creamy smoothie. I love it!! I get it every time!! Shout out to Patty for recommending it. Also BEWARE the portions are MASSIVE. You get more than your money's worth. If we had known prior, we would've shared instead of ordering 3 bowls of ramen. We took most of it to go because we couldn't finish. The appetizers came out quickly, cooked to perfection. So crispy! Everything is so delicious. Literally cannot go wrong! Come stop by for a happy tummy! And a great experience. The servers are so nice, great at recommending items on the menu. Just tell them what you like and they'll point you in the right direction. But regardless, order the Lychee Smoothie!!! You won't regret it! 10000% coming back for more of everything!!

My man and I stopped by earlier today for lunch, we both had ramen, and it was absolutely delicious! There wasn't a line when we got there but it got pretty busy as it was around lunch time. The ambiance was great and lively, but it didn't have to wait for a table or long at all for our food. The woman upfront was very efficient, kind and friendly. We will definitely be trying this ramen spot again.

This review isn't for the food, it's for the lazy cashier girl answering the phone on Fridays between 8:15-8:30. Three Fridays in a row, I was denied at least a $100+ order as I rush over there from Sac airport flying back in from SoCal. 3 weeks ago, I walked in to order take out at 8:45pm, the girl said their kitchen was closed. Okay. I leave and go to Panda across the street. Whatever. 2 weeks ago, I go out my way and call while I am driving at 8:20 to place an order. I said I could arrive there from Sac airport before 9 to pick it up and they said no, it would be too late. Today, I call at 8:29 to place an order and would arrive by 9:51 to pick it up based on my Waze, again, she says the kitchen closes at 8:45. Huh? If I called at 8:29 to place an order, would the kitchen be cooking it before 8:45 and all I needed to do was cook walk in at 8:51, pay and leave? Compete ditz. I just hung up cause Im sick of calling this place while I drive as I make a huge effort to rush out the plane, into my car in the garage so I could try to make it there and give them my money. See my phone screenshot as proof of my call. Anyways, the hours says 9pm closing. I've attempted to accommodate this business before 9pm 3 Fridays in a row. Whoever the owner is of this place, I hope sees this review and fires the girl answering the phone as well as the kitchen that denies business well before 9pm. If I was the owner, I'd be super upset that this staff of mine has denied orders and left money off the table for the past 3 Fridays to me. I'm only speaking for myself, imagine all the money lost with this staff denying business to others. I am no longer a customer from today on and will no longer bring all my sports teams to eat there after games. Complete shame. If your staff doesn't want to work past 8:30, close the doors at 8pm, even earlier than your "9pm" closing time.

Ramen 101 hits the spot when is late and you get ramen cravings. We visited 1 hr before closing. We got (2)Black Garlic Ramen 1 mild and 1 medium to which they both were less than mild, Spam Musubi(2)-was falling apart extremely to much rice the seaweed couldn't hold it. It didn't stop me from eating tho and Unagi Rice was delicious. It was somewhat busy considering it was towards closing time, everyone was cleaning something you can smell once you enter. Not complaining. Overall we enjoyed our late night dinner.

First timer here. Came in for dinner. Clean little place with plenty of parking. You ordered your food before sitting. Service was quick. No greetings when you walk in however cashier did tell us what were popular dishes among customers when asked. I had the Tonkosu ramen mild level spice while she ordered the short ribs plate. Portion size was not bad. Broth and spice level was not bad. Wasn't too fond of the bamboo but overall the ramen was tasty and full filling. Galbi ribs plate was a bit sad with not much meat. Overall taste, per friend it was okay. Would come back to try other dishes if in the area.

    Tonkatsu ramen with fried garlic

Delicious Ramen! Pork was perfect! Tonkatsu is my go-to and this was great! The bowl was huge and I will be eating leftovers for dinner tonight. Lots of noodles, two egg halves, 2 tender slices of roasted pork which somehow had plenty of char yet melted in my mouth. They have an add on menu if you want even more toppings, but I was very satisfied with what was offered on the regular order: seaweed, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, fish cake slices, roast pork belly, and egg. I did add fried garlic and was pleasantly surprised by several whole cloves, not the crunchy chips I was expecting. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Other menu items included chicken Karagi, rangoons, lumpia, and more, plus a lot of interesting looking drinks. This was my first time and I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. Yum!

    Tonkotsu ramen

Solid spot for a quick ramen fix if you're in the area and don't want to drive far, but it doesn't compare to the ramen spots downtown or in Folsom. The shop is small but nice, and the staff is friendly and efficient. You order up front, seat yourself, and they have a self-serve water station near the counter. I got the mild Tonkotsu Ramen (no bamboo). The broth had good flavor but wasn't very spicy at all. Noodles were well-cooked and bouncy. Not a fan of the raw bean sprouts, but they did add a nice crunch. The egg was a bit too cold and overboiled. I prefer it runnier. The chashu had good flavor but wasn't as tender as I'd like.

Very friendly service staff and a clean location. The prices are great and the food portion sizes are large. I found the chicken katsu to be flavorful, but just above average as the crust didn't have a lot of seasoning. I would recommend this place and I will definitely give them another shot the next time I'm in town.

    Black garlic ramen

Ramen 101 was an absolute joy! The ramen was scrumptious and the marble drinks were so cute!!! The chicken was second to none. Don't get me started on the eggs I could fill my mouth with many of them. The smoothie (not pictured) was both sweet and liquidy but not the bad kind, just liquidy enough. So refreshing! Happy birthday Drew!

It may sound a bit ambitious to do both Hawaiian BBQ and ramen, but this place knows how to do it. I got the black garlic ramen and they were very generous with the amount of garlic so my meal smelled divine. I originally wanted some Hawiian BBQ when I first saw this, but the ramen smelled so good I had to switch. If you want a combination, I recommend the chicken ramen. They use the Hawaiian BBQ chicken in the ramen, so you get amazing flavors from both. I went a bit safe on my choice with the garlic, but my friend made a great one with the chicken ramen. I need to go back to try their BBQ next time. The service is great as well. They were very friendly and speedy with our orders.

Is it the best ramen in town? No. That goes to umami or fukumi. But for a fast casual and quick service ramen. It's actually pretty good. You order. Sit down. Food comes in maybe 3-5min. It's quick. The broth is hot. The pork is delicious. It's flavorful. I personally don't like this kind of mushroom. But that's personal preference I like their crab rangoons. All in all it's good. If you don't got time to wait or drive to the better locations. This is a good alternative. (Minus the nightmare that is Olson and Zinfandel).

YUM!! Finally made it here for date night and so worth it!…read moreThe staff was quick to seat us and take our orders. The waiter was super friendly and gave great suggestions. We both got the Tantan and of course added the extra FREE noodles. We added garlic oil and corn. The spice level was perfect, and all of the Ingredients were fresh. One thing I noticed was how flavorful the chashu was. Usually in my experience it's a bit gamey, but not this one. We also had the spicy Karaage, it was not overly spicy, super flavorful, and very juicy large chunks! The little salad that came with the karaage was also very delicious. We had plenty left over for lunch the next day. Can't wait to return!

Unfortunately, after giving it two separate chances, I don't think I'll be coming back. The first time I tried Fukumi Ramen was about six months ago. We got on the waiting list and were told we'd receive a text when our table was ready. After waiting longer than the estimated time, we went back inside only to be told we weren't actually on the waiting list. Frustrating, but we decided to give it another shot and asked to be added again. After waiting even longer, we came back only to find out we still hadn't been put on the list. By that point, nearly an hour had passed, we were hungry, and we ended up leaving. I understand technology issues happen, but it was disappointing, especially when we watched people who arrived after us get seated before us. A few months later, we decided to try again. This time we were seated, but the experience still wasn't great. We asked if any booth seating was available because the bar-style seating isn't very comfortable for us. We were told there weren't any available at the moment, but that they would transfer us when one opened up. When a booth became available, it was immediately given to another party that arrived after us. When we asked about it, we were told we would have needed to be on a waitlist for a booth. That wasn't communicated to us beforehand. We asked to be added to the booth waitlist, but despite several booths opening throughout our meal, nobody ever followed up with us again. The ramen itself was okay, but the tonkotsu ramen was much spicier than I expected. The menu didn't clearly indicate the spice level, and I wasn't aware that the spice couldn't be adjusted. I later found out I would have needed to request the spicy component on the side. I think having clearer menu descriptions and spice-level information would help avoid that confusion. Not the employees' fault, just disappointing. Between the waiting list issues during my first visit and the lack of communication during my second visit, I left feeling more frustrated than satisfied. I felt like I was really annoying the staff both times and there was no remedy or explanation offered for the issues. As someone who has worked a lot in customer service I know how it feels to be on the other end of a difficult customer and I truly wasn't trying to be a jerk :( I know many people love this place, but after two disappointing experiences, I don't see myself returning.

Gangnam Ave has been my absolute favorite KBBQ spot for years, and after trying several places…read morearound Sacramento, this one still tops them all. Honestly, it's so good that I haven't even felt the need to keep searching for another go-to. I've visited with small groups of 3-4 people and also larger groups of 6-10, and the experience has remained consistently great overall. One thing I like about Gangnam Ave is how their pricing works. Instead of the typical lunch vs. dinner menu, they offer Option A or Option B, where some premium meats are excluded from the cheaper option. It's basically the same concept as lunch/dinner pricing, but I appreciate that it isn't tied to the time of day. For reference, they open at 4pm on weekdays and 12pm on weekends, which feels pretty reasonable to me since KBBQ is usually more of a late lunch or dinner type of meal anyway. The variety of meats is one of the main reasons I love coming here. When I do AYCE, I'm going all in -- usually 4-5 rounds -- so I'm not trying to stick with just basic bulgogi. Gangnam Ave offers things you don't always see at other spots like small and large intestines, pork jowl, beef tongue, and spicy baby octopus, and the marinades here for some of the meats are flavorful. I've eaten at other KBBQ spots over the years for different reasons (my sister even worked at Oz for several years), but Gangnam Ave will always have a special place in my stomach. The appetizers are also solid. Their corn cheese is easily my favorite -- instead of a flat dish with watery corn and melted cheese tossed on top, they give you individual foil cups so you can throw it on the grill and melt it perfectly yourself. I'm lactose intolerant and still order it every single time. The steamed egg is always fluffy and never overcooked, and it pairs perfectly with the meats. I also usually order their soondubu; I'm not overly picky about tofu soup, but as long as it isn't watered down, I'm happy -- and theirs always hits the spot. Their drink menu is small but fun, especially if you like soju. They have some mixed soju drinks, and there's a strawberry + Sprite one with a strawberry-infused ice cube called Super Shy that has become my go-to whenever I visit. Sweet, bubbly, and dangerously easy to drink. Now for the meat itself: it comes out raw, of course, so the final result depends on how well your group can grill. If you've got someone in your group who knows what they're doing, you really can't go wrong. Portions are reasonable for the group size, orders usually come out pretty quickly, and they change the grills every round or two. Most tables have one grill for every four people, so larger groups will typically get two grills. Like most KBBQ places, the experience can depend on your server. I've had many different ones over the years -- most are great, a few are just okay -- which probably explains the mixed reviews you'll sometimes see. Personally, it's never been enough to ruin my experience. A quick tip: reservations are highly recommended for groups of four or more, and they'll usually ask ahead of time if there are kids in your party. If I had to nitpick anything, the dipping sauces are pretty simple and not particularly memorable, but nothing is perfect. The restaurant itself is small and dimly lit, but I think that's part of the charm. It feels cozy and homey -- the kind of place where you can sit around the grill with friends and family and just enjoy the moment. I've made a lot of great memories here over the years. Before moving out of state, I used to come here almost every other month with different groups of friends or family. I've included photos from several past visits with this review because they really show how often I've come here over the years. If anything, they're proof of how loyal of a returning customer I've been. ;) no bonuses or perks besides good food lol. After you're done pigging out, you can grab Melona bars or taiyaki ice cream fish sandwiches from the freezer near the front for cheap. Or if you want to extend the night, there's a Baskin-Robbins right next door for dessert. Parking is also pretty easy, and even though the lot gets a little dark at night, the bright lights from Gangnam Ave make it easy to spot. Maybe I'm a little biased because of all the good memories tied to this place, but there's a reason I've been returning for many years -- even before COVID. If you love AYCE KBBQ and want variety, good marinades, and a cozy vibe, Gangnam Ave is absolutely worth checking out.

We arrived around 5 p.m. and were one of just a few parties seated, so it was quiet and relaxed. The first thing we noticed was how beautifully decorated it was inside. Like others have mentioned, the exterior might not catch your eye right away, but once you step in, it's vibrant and welcoming. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We ordered the sashimi nigiri plate, agedashi tofu, and an eel roll (I can't remember the exact name). Every dish was excellent -- the fish was incredibly fresh, and the agedashi sauce was bursting with flavor. Honestly, it's the best agedashi tofu we've had so far! We were too hungry to snap photos this time, but I'll definitely add some on our next visit. Highly recommend checking out Akira Sushi if you're in the area -- great food, warm service, and such a pleasant surprise overall.

We were craving some Japanese food and found this place with decent reviews. We came on a Saturday…read morearound lunch and it wasn't busy. The exterior is very unsuspecting. I would have never thought a Japanese restaurant was here. The inside was another story! The inside is decorated with all kinds of Japanese pictures and decor. You definitely felt like you were in a Japanese restaurant. The menu was impressive! Everything had pictures which is so amazing! It was just easier having an idea of what to pick based on looking at the pictures. There were all kinds of sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, appetizers and plates. We decided to get the ramen, salmon katsu, and tempura bowl. Food came our really quick. Portions were good and everything we tasted wonderful. It definitely satisfied our craving. The tempura was crispy. The ramen broth was rich and noodles nice and chewy. The bento box came with gyoza, salad, tempura, oranges, miso soup and rice. Service was great. They were attentive, and friendly. Eating with our littles ones is never easy and we appreciated how patient they were with us. We loved the food and hope to come back and try their sushi next!

Even though the restaurant is very busy, the service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The dessert after the hotpot was also a nice surprise and very enjoyable. The price per person is a bit higher than other all you can eat hotpot places, but the quality of the ingredients more than justifies it. I have honestly never had hotpot with such high quality black tiger shrimp, and the beef was the best I have ever had at a hotpot restaurant. The owner clearly focuses on ingredient quality rather than fancy decor or presentation, otherwise the price would easily be much higher. In Las Vegas, hotpot of this same quality usually costs significantly more, so this place is absolutely worth trying. A great option for family gatherings, with excellent freshness and ingredient quality you can really trust.

The restaurant was actually pretty busy for a weeknight. My group did the AYCE option which also came with ice cream (dessert). Pros: meats and veggies were fresh. I liked the number options there were. There was a good variety of broths. Service was pretty quick and they kept checking up on us. It's a good place for groups and you're able socialize without having a noisy background. Cons: none

All I have to say in 3 words is GREAT food, GREAT service, and GREAT ownership hospitality!! We were immediately greeted by the owner Sun who was the friendliest person you would ever meet and immediately became excited to hear that we were there celebrate a birthday and that it was the first time for some of us. The variety of sushi rolls that we ordered were packed with flavor as we enjoyed every bite. At the end of our meal, we were surprised with a special dessert made with fresh orange slices and whip cream as well as a slice of birthday cheesecake and chocolate moon pie as we sang to the birthday girl. Between the friendly staff, nicely decorated ambiance and the amazing food, this was a fantastic experience. Nice meeting you Sun and thank you Sora Sushi. I will definitely be back!! Kevin

This was easily the worst sushi I have ever been served…read more I previously worked as a sushi restaurant supervisor and have eaten sushi extensively, including in Tokyo, so I don't say this lightly. I visited on a weekend afternoon and was the only customer in the restaurant, with just one chef and one server present. I ordered a torched roll. I could hear the torch being applied for several seconds, and when the plate arrived the rice was literally blackened and crunchy from being burned. The albacore on top was stiff and overcooked, the sauce was excessive, and the shrimp tempura inside was soggy. Every component was mishandled -- from ingredient freshness to execution -- and after two bites I felt sick and could not continue eating it. I considered asking for a replacement, but the chef left the restaurant immediately after serving the dish. The server was polite and understanding when I explained I couldn't eat the food, and I left without ordering anything else. I have given this restaurant multiple chances and this was the final one. With several other sushi restaurants nearby, I strongly recommend choosing elsewhere.
