My kiddos love their rolls and Bento boxes, and I love their pepperfin, albacore on fire, large sashimi mix, and their agadashi tofu! We come here pretty often being it's so close to home! I was suppose to be driving down the i5 this entire day enroute back to our Hub in San Bernardino CA from MCC1 Amazon fulfillment, but a sudden onset of kickbackism set in, and I just laid in my rig's sleeper until I felt like getting up. Come noon, and checking my ETA to Los Angeles already pushed back to 21:00 PM, I decided to drive my rig in town to get something to eat before making that 10 hour drive down south. And I settled for Wabune Sushi in the Raleys Grocery Store plaza. So onto the review: I ordered a ton of food, and even wrote everything down on paper for the newbie server. Hamachi Kama: felt it wasnt Krispy or charred enough. 3.5/5 Volcano Mushrooms: wasn't what I was expecting, it was just a bunch of shrooms, battered up with some cream cheese 2.5/5 **would skip ordering this Douglas Roll: wasn't anything worth remembering, as in typing this an hour 1/2 later, I cannot recall what was in the Douglas Roll besides red sauce and spicy tuna, shrimp tempura....so it must have been a mediocre roll 3/5 Chirashi Bowl: was ok, sashimi was fresh, but nothing along the levels of Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo Los Angeles 4/5 Uni: I want to allege after finishing both Uni Nigiri that this wasn't the freshest, because of the complex after taste, it was somewhat bitter with a fishy aftertaste and the coloring was a bit dark. If you ever go to a Mitsuwas or Marukai or Nijiya and look for that shining glistening gold packaged air-imprted Uni...yeah. You'll know what I mean. Totally different. 3 2.5/5 Amaebi: Corral Sweet Shrimp Raw Nigiri: probably the only shining star or the 4/5 *Although I suggest next time removing the heads of the shrimp and steeping them with Miso soup for an additional layer of presentation, it would give the Miso soup more Umami And what else am I missing.....yes the Oysters at Market Price ($16.00) Ok aside from the fact the restaurant operators couldn't really name where the oysters were from...I'm assuming it's frozen oysters...I wanted to give this starter a higher score, but Everytime I slurp, I get fragments of the Oyster shells in my mouth, and honestly, I find the oysters that you can get at Wholefoods market Alot of times better quality and taste (being better quality oysters are sweeter and have less of that Seafood aftertaste. So unfortunately I have to give this order a 2.5/5 even though I finished it because the ponzu and chilli sauces they used really masked the natural tastes of the oyster. To be fair I ordered takeout so I didn't get the experience or the degree of freshness you get when dining in. I'd never been here before but my husband was picking up pizza across the street and this was nearest location. My first impression on a quick stop Friday night. Restaurant is small but clean and modern. They were REALLY busy but friendly and my roll was ready by the time I got there. I asked for soy sauce and wasabi, they had already put it all in the bag. Good customer service. When I got to my destination, sat down and finally opened the box, I was surprised at the size of the roll. I ordered the Machu Pichu and it had a good combo of seafood so I expected a larger roll. It is also priced at $25 so there's that for expectation. I do realize price of food has gone up a lot, I was still taken back a bit. The roll was really good though. Machu Pichu- Tempura shrimp and spicy tuna in the roll. Spicy tuna didn't have the kick, I couldn't tell it apart from the other ingredients. It was supposed to be topped with avocado but didn't have any as you can see in the pictures. It did have a good amount of snow crab mix. Half the roll was topped with salmon, the other half with tuna but it looked fresh, not seared. Also, I didn't know they would be divided. The description implies the entire roll having each of the ingredients listed. Other than that, it did have the creamy and unagi sauces, the leeks, marsh and salad. Overall it was fresh and good. It just wasn't what I was expecting nor was what I thought it would be for a $25 roll. I was so hungry and didn't dine in so I let it go.. plus that amazing flavor of wasabi and soy sauce met enough of what I was looking forward to tasting with the other ingredients. I got the Inari for my toddler. It was good but also $8 for the two halves. Maybe I've been hiding under a rock but that's pricy for 2 tbsp of rice with tofu wrap. Would I go back? Haven't decided. I met up with someone special I haven't seen for years and they suggested Wabune Sushi because the food here was so tasty on their last visit. We got here right at opening time (12 p.m) and sat right away. There is a host stand at the front and a you get back further, you can choose to sit right up at the sushi bar or at a partial table/booth. We both started out with iced waters. After quite a bit of time and talking and admiring their fish lights and wall decor, we started with an appetizer- Wicked shrimp. It is tempura shrimp stuffed with crab mix, special sauce, green onions, and topped with sesame seeds. Those were creamy and delicious! For our sushi, our rolls looked similar. My friend ordered the Sunrise roll- shrimp tempura with crab mix with avocado, unagi sauce, cream sauce, green onion, and masago- but without the sauces. I ordered the Yon roll- shrimp tempura, crab mix, avocado, salmon, lemon, unagi sauce, creamy sauce, green onion, masago, and mg... idk what mg is. Mine was very tasty and instead of green onions, it had micro greens. I loved that super thin slice of lemon with each bite. The salmon tasted very fresh and the lemon gave it a superior taste! Our server was very patient with us as we sat for a long while and caught up. We both used the bathroom... which was only one of two negatives I saw while we were there. It was filthy. The baby changing table is definitely not safe unless you put down a protection sheet or blanket before you lay your child down... stains on the sink and a dirty trash can you have to push your use paper towels into... I know that is not what we were here for, but this review is based upon all aspects of my visit. Also, the water we ordered tasted like pond water. Came here because I saw a video on IG and it went hard, but it was very empty when we came for dinner. Overall experience was decent but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. We got 2 sushi rolls & fried ika. Nothing too unique. Most of their rolls seemed to be very similar to each other so they all kind of tasted the same. I've been here several times (dine-in, takeout, and DoorDash) and usually enjoy their rolls, selection of premium fish like toro and uni, and the customer service has always been good. However, the sashimi portion today was very small--especially for $45. The pieces looked like they were cut in half and the amount didn't feel worth the price. I came here with a buddy of mine last week for lunch on the way to the greater rancho area. I really liked this place. The server was attentive and the food was excellent. My bento box and sushi roll tasted like they were made with high quality ingredients. The restaurant is a little small but I don't mind. My only complaint which prevented me from leaving a 5 star review was their bento box menu didn't allow for any substitutions. It would have been nice to substitute certain things like miso soup which I don't like for some extra salad or rice or something. I ended up giving me soup to my buddy. I recently had lunch here with my husband and another couple. Service was genuinely friendly. I had Tonkatsu Ramen. I realize this is first and mostly a sushi restaurant, not a Ramen restaurant. I felt my Ramen was underwhelming, with the broth lacking in depth of flavor. I also missed a few ingredients that are often (not always) used, such as Kikurage mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The chashu was tasty. My husband had Veggie Udon, which he liked quite a bit. It came with a few rectangular blocks of steamed tofu, and also had several pieces of broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, and cucumber. He found the noodles cooked to his liking, and the broth tasty. The other couple in our party both enjoyed their selections. So, overall, a very good experience. For me, it was a 3 out of 5, but as the others all enjoyed their picks more, and for the friendly service, I'm going to bump it up to 4. read more

I would closer consider this a 3.5/5 however in comparison to other small sushi restaurants I can't bump it up to 4. I had 2 rolls. Appetizer and dessert Black widow roll - it needs more sauce. The outside has nice texture and flavor. But the crab mix and cream cheese on the inside is lacking sauce and flavor. Spicy tuna roll (I forget the name) - this was delicious. Had a light kick. Stuffed mushroom - this was really good. Ice cream - not my cup of tea. So the main reason why I say I can't give it a higher rating and bumped down to 3 is because they have a limited menu and their sushi is pricy. The average roll is $16-18. Most of the rolls are tuna, shrimp, salmon, crab. This compared to a similar restaurant like sushi hook. Their rolls are around $11-12 and a large variety of offerings. More variety and reduced pricing would definitely bump up the rating. $18 is almost mikunis and arigato level of pricing. read more

We got seated right away, our orders taken as soon as we were ready but our food took a while to come out. Kitchen was busy fulfilling to go orders. Food was just ok: Agedashi tofu - crispy on the outside and soft inside with yummy dipping sauce. Be careful when eating because this one is served fresh from the frying pan so it is hot. Wicked shrimp - I was not a fan of the sauce Petra roll - the creamy sauce was overpowering and the sushi wasn't rolled tightly so it breaks apart easily. This is one of the chef's specialty and I think there's too much happening with this roll that the flavors just did not work for me. It wasn't bad I would order something different next time. PSA: if you use a portable LED light at a restaurant to take food pics, be spatially aware and don't shine the light straight at another patron lol. I was being blinded by an Instagrammer while I was eating. Also seemed like she knew someone working there so she received extra care by the whole staff crew in terms of service..... Anyway, the food that I tried here was just alright. I enjoyed the crispiness of the agedashi tofu but very skimpy on the dashi broth. Also, too heavy-handed on the bonito flakes making the appetizer a bit salty. Not the most melt-in-your-mouth hamachi in the hamachi carpaccio and the fried leeks on top had a jarring charred taste. Delicious sauce for the hamachi though. Service: kinda alluded to it earlier but I left the place feeling cold-shouldered by the staff as more attention went towards the Instagrammer (she and I were the only ones dining at the time). This is one of the newer sushi spots in the Rancho Cordova area that was conveniently close to me. It has a shared lot with other businesses so there's plenty of parking. Walking in, there aren't many tables so a party of 5+ would be hard to accommodate. Moving onto the food, my partner and I ordered a chicken katsu bento box and a rocky roll. I noticed that there was a deluxe box which was just like the bento box without the assorted tempura and replaced by another main entree item for $7 more. I didn't think this was worth it. Besides that, the chicken katsu had chicken thigh meat which was good! The miso soup was a bit bland (probably watered down) but the salad and California roll was a nice add on for the box. The rocky roll was decent sized and tasted good. The shrimp tempura inside was on the smaller side for half of the pieces so the empty space was filled with more imitation crab which can start to make the overall bite mushy tasting. I do want to highlight the attentive customer service where they provided straws, teriyaki sauce, and came by often to ask if we needed anything else. This is good sushi , especially for where it is ... which is east, east Rancho .. a bit of a good restaurant desert (think newer elk grove but with even more chains lol). They have great rolls, and an even better bento box than most places. So the value is there. I am consistently impressed by their tempura offerings which are an exercise in deftness and simplicity and they get it right everytime. If I had an issue it would be with their restaurant manager. They seem to be untrained and dont understand timing food delivery to the food experience. They're getting better, so I'm holding my breath. LOL read more

I've never wanted to gate keep a restaurant. If I was that kind of person, this is the one I would. There is not many places that have great rolls and great sashimi. This is one of those rare places. Everything we got was delicious and high quality. Fried squid- this was really good. Nothing special but was exactly as it should be. Pepperfin- this is a must get. The sauce and fish were perfect! Sashimi- Every piece tasted great and absolutely no fishiness. Deadpool roll (not deep fried)- I really enjoyed this roll. I usually am not a big fan of spicy tuna but theirs is an exception. Also when my friend ask for it not to be fried, the staff was incredibly nice and checked with the chef. Sunrise roll- this roll is basically a California roll with all the extras. While not being super adventurous it was extremely satisfying and would definitely get again. I'm looking forward to trying many of the different menu Iteams when coming back. read more

One of the servers told us to wait to be seated but never got back to us after more than 10mins of waiting even when there were tables. When I asked another server again we were finally seated. First off, sushi is normally something we take out, not eat in. We decided to dine in as we are new to the neighborhood and were in the midst of unpacking. We went on a Wednesday night around 6:30 pm. The restaurant is small and all but two tables were full. There were several couples waiting in the front to get to go orders. We were seated promptly but then forgotten a little - which is hard to do in a place that small. We finally were able to order. And then we waited and waited and waited. Every other table around us was getting their food. And then tables started to clear out. A couple that was waiting for to go food when we arrived and were seated, were still waiting for their order. We finally waved the waiter down and asked him to check on our food. It took almost 45 minutes to get three rolls and an order of gyoza. The food was DELICIOUS which is why I am giving them 4 stars. We enjoyed every roll - fresh and flavorful. Next time we will get take out!!! FYI for the owner, we are pretty sure the server forgot to put in our order. We are also sure they didn't put in the order for the poor couple that was waiting on take out when we arrived. read more
